Here’s the wrap-up to Comic-Con 2012!
Friday, July 13
We decided to stay away from Ballroom 20 (the venue for the Firefly 10th Anniversary panel – people were camping out all night!) and see some of the less popular panels.

We ended up at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Rob. Pretty cool to see actors like Sean Astin and Jason Biggs so excited about their voice work on this upcoming animated show.
And I chose the Cult panel. Pretty much only for Matt Davis. Heh. Oh, and Alona Tal. Love those two actors. We got to see the pilot, which was… underwhelming. It’s centered around a TV show about a cult that is inspiring real life disappearances. Yeeeaaahhh. I don’t see myself obsessing about this show next season.
After these two panels, we finally hit the convention floor!
The floor is always INCREDIBLY crowded so I tend not to take too many pictures of all the cosplayers. I’m too busy trying to survive the walk through the floor! We did see…

An awesome Incredible Hulk lego figure…

KITT from Knight Rider…

The Ugly Dolls…

And Dark Helmet from Spaceballs. Great costume!

We also passed by the Warner Bros booth and happened to see Emilia Clarke and Richard Madden walking by. Daenarys and Robb Stark!!! Sadly I was not fast enough to catch Emilia but here’s a really lousy picture of Richard. He looked right at me!

After getting our fill of the floor, we headed to the YouTube lounge to hang out with Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton. 😉 Hehe.

We ended the day with dinner at Roy’s on the waterfront. I know it’s a chain but I have SUCH a soft spot for it because we dined at the Pebble Beach location right after getting engaged (5+ years ago!).

This was our EPIC day in Ballroom 20. We wanted to get in for the first panel and stay to the last.

And epic it was. There were so many people in line that we got into the ballroom about halfway into the first panel.

First up was Warehouse 13. Rob’s the one that watches this show…
And I watch Once Upon a Time. I must not be paying too much attention because I had NO idea every episode’s title cards are different. Each of them features the focus of the episode or the introduction of a character. We were treated to next season’s title cards for Mulan, Aurora (my favorite!) and Jack and the Beanstalk.

Family Guy is another show I don’t watch (again, this is Rob’s show) but it doesn’t matter because this panel is always HILARIOUS. Oh man. The two best moments were —
– When the cast was purposely saying naughty things in order to watch the interpreters sign to the deaf members of the audience.
– During the Q&A a fan read her question from her phone and Seth MacFarlane said “You couldn’t memorize that?” Then he followed up by saying he couldn’t remember her question because he was so mesmerized by her cadence.
OMG. LOLOL.
Oh. Also, Mila Kunis is FLAWLESS. So gorgeous.
Then we stuck around for the vampire block of Vampire Diaries and True Blood.
Such a beautiful cast! 🙂 Sadly, I was a little underwhelmed by the panel (seriously, the moderators make a HUGE difference). The one piece of information I remember is that when asked who they want to kiss or have sex with on the show, Paul Wesley said Elijah. Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder agreed. AWESOME.
Gawd, even more gorgeous people. My memory is fading and all I remember is that —
– Stephen Moyer and Alex Skarsgard got their wrists slapped for laughing too much during the filming of the scene where they were stuck in a trunk together.
– For some reason, Joe Manganiello demonstrates a body roll (probably a reference to Magic Mike) — then Christopher Meloni gives it a try and finally Alan Ball. That was a bizarre sequence of events.

For our last day we bought tickets to Nathan Fillion’s “conversation” at NerdHQ. One thing I LOVED was that seating was assigned and we ended up in the second row!

Here’s a screenshot that I pulled from the archived video. You can see us on the very right side — Rob’s wearing a purple Lakers shirt and I’m next to him. LOL.

Zachary Levi was on hand to introduce the panel.
Nathan Fillion has the unique ability to carry a panel by himself. It actually ended up being an impromptu auction because he brought a bunch of personal items to sell for charity. Like the Gryffindor lanyard and Slytherin scarf above! Seriously, he’s so awesome.
Easily one of our favorite panels at the Con.

Aaaaannnddd that’s all folks! Until next year San Diego! 🙂

Yay Yay Yay!!! Great recap! And hooray for getting in the second row for Nathan Fillion!
firefly reunion!…it should have been in hall h…did you see day and wheaton at their geek and sundry off-site location?…kunis & kreuk should get a panel – hot chicks with last names that start with “k”
So, basically, you were in the same room as Ian Somerhalder and Alex Skarsgard? I so envy you right now, haha! 🙂
What Kelly said! You were in the same room as some amazing people. SO ENVIOUS! And Matt Davis!!! AH!
