tv wrap-up 2

I haven’t really been in the blogging mood lately. Work has been grueling (nothing new there), wedding planning has invaded my life (I’ll have to blog about some frustrations another time), and Diesel has completely messed with my sleeping schedule (he has decided to be our personal alarm clock every morning). UGH.

Anyway, I want to keep my TV wrap-up going so here goes…

Tuesday shows! Beware spoilers…

Gilmore Girls
I have to admit that I was a little upset with the show when Rory and Logan broke up in the penultimate episode. I know Logan wasn’t the best boyfriend but I really grew to love his character. So I was bummed even though I know it was probably the right decision for both of them. 🙁 As for the finale, I thought it was pretty darn perfect. YES, I cried. It felt a *bit* rushed but I still thought it was such a beautiful ending for this show to have Lorelai and Rory at Luke’s Diner — exactly the way the show started. And I absolutely loved seeing all the Stars Hollow townspeople gathered together at Rory’s party. Though the show’s about the girls, it was nice to have a chance to say “Bye” to them as well.

Veronica Mars
The finale left me feeling really… incomplete. Maybe even a little depressed. I mean, the last shot of her walking in the rain after voting for her dad was pretty brutal. I adore this show (even though I may complain and gripe about it once in awhile) and I’m actually really sad to see it go. 🙁 Veronica may have been a bit out-of-character this season (at least to me) but I still loved her and I’m going to miss her spunkiness. With that said, I enjoyed the finale (even though it didn’t really pack the same punch as the season 1 finale) and I’m glad everyone had their part, particularly Weevil and Wallace. 😀

In other non-TV news, I saw the movie Knocked Up today. HILARIOUS… except for the last few moments of the movie. That just made me nauseous. (If you’ve seen the movie, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about). Highly recommended.

Hmmm… I told myself I was going to re-read all my Harry Potter books before the last one is released. But I haven’t started yet. Oops.

returning shows, part 2

OMG, I seriously need to start making cuts on my TV schedule. Cause I am SO backed up. There are a billion episodes on my Tivo!

I think Six Degrees may be my first casualty. I do have the third episode saved on the Tivo so that’ll be the deciding episode.

More comments on returning shows…

SPOILERS ARE AHEAD…

CSI
Really enjoyed the first 2 episodes… Catherine’s “rape” (the morning after scene gave me chills) and the Sam Braun storyline was intriguing. And I liked that Catherine turned to Sara for help. Finally! I like both characters a lot and I wish they would get along. :/ They always seem to be shown as adversaries. It’s like the writers don’t know how to write friendly relationships for female characters or something. Annoying.

Gilmore Girls
OMG. Lauren Graham is amazing. She makes me *feel* Lorelai’s pain. GUH. She is so good. Now, I know that the show will eventually make its way back to Luke/Lorelai but until then, I’d love to see more of Christopher (I’m sorry, I like him!). Good to see Lane again but I really hate that she’s pregnant. I feel like it’s such a cop-out storyline for her. Blah. On a shallow note, I absolutely love Alexis Bledel’s hair lately. I have hair envy.

One Tree Hill
I totally rolled my eyes after the cold open of the premiere. I mean, really. Nathan washing up on land holding Rachel. WHATEVER. I wish she would go away. And what’s with Nathan’s angst? That came out of nowhere. But I’m glad that Brooke and Lucas finally broke up. As much as I don’t like that pairing, I don’t like watching Chad and Sophia even more. The thought of their real life problems makes me cringe. I feel bad for Sophia. :/ It looks like the signs are pointing towards a relationship to develop between Lucas and Peyton. Yay. I’ve been waiting since season 1! And can I just say how happy I am to see Skillz in the credits? Antwon Tanner’s awesome.

Veronica Mars
Hee! There was a BSG reference! 😀 I thought the premiere was great… well, except for the whole Kendall/Cormac storyline. But that’s because I had no idea what was going on. Hopefully it’ll be explained in the upcoming episodes. Anyway, I normally don’t like new characters right off the bat but I really, really liked both Piz and Parker. They both have such different personalities from the rest of the characters yet they fit right in. Strangely enough, I wasn’t feeling Veronica. At all. She’s normally a know-it-all (in a good, lovable way) but she took it too far. I couldn’t even enjoy the Veronica/Logan scenes because I was so annoyed with her. KB did have rocking hair, though… that’s me, I’m all about the shallow.

Supernatural
Daddy Winchester!!! *sniff* The premiere rocked. Seriously, my mind was blown. Jensen, Jared and JDM were all so, so awesome. The ending killed me dead. The scene when Sam drops the coffee cup and runs to his dad… just, GUH.

Battlestar Galactica
The premiere was SO frakking GOOD. Gaeta rocked, the insurgent team of Chief/Helo/Tigh rocked, Lee and his angst rocked, Starbuck and her bad self rocked. Baltar and Ellen did not rock but that’s fine… it was all pretty damn amazing anyway. And the ending! I gasped when the prisoners were given a rest break and the cylons appeared. Noooo!

Whew. Hope everyone has a good weekend. 😀

season finales, part 4

Still trying to finish up on my season finale commentaries. I briefly thought about giving up since, I don’t know… THE NEW SEASON HAS STARTED. But I can’t give up. So…

SPOILERS ARE AHEAD…

Everwood
It’s over. It’s really over. *sniff* But I’m glad the show went out the way it did. I absolutely LOVED the series finale. After it initially aired, I think I must have watched it a million times that week. It was a very fitting and well done ending. There wasn’t much that I didn’t love so I want to get that out of the way first…

Things I Wish Were Different
— Despite being 2 hours, the finale felt a little rushed. But I only have The CW to blame for that.
— Hannah going to Colorado A&M. I wish she had believed in herself enough to choose Notre Dame.
— Nina being the one to initiate her break-up with Jake. I wish that storyline was resolved prior to the finale. If only because it felt a little like whiplash seeing her with Andy at the end.
— I missed the ending narration. 🙁 But I found this entry on LJ, where one fan has written his/her own version of a narration. It would have been perfect.

Favorite Moments:
— Nina and Hannah tossing the engagement ring back and forth in Andy’s bedroom. Hilarious!
— Andy at Julia’s grave. *sob*
— Drunk Amy at the Bat Mitzvah. HEE!
— Delia getting her horse. I love the continuity!
— Andy’s proposal to Nina.
— Bright and Hannah’s scene on the hilltop. I’ve never really been a fan of their relationship but I liked that they kept the possibility of the future in the air. And their hug! It was one of those hugs that are really tight and meaningful. Best Friends for life. Awww.
— Dr. Abbott and Rose getting the baby.
— Amy’s flashbacks to all her moments with Ephram.
— Amy’s grand gesture. Go Amy! I loved seeing her go after Ephram after all the times he’s laid his feelings on the line for her. I loved seeing her look terrified and hopeful and beautiful all at the same time as she was standing in front of the ferris wheel. And Ephram’s stunned reaction was classic. Gawd, I love them!
*sniff* I think I need to rewatch the finale…

Gilmore Girls
I used to be indifferent to Rory/Logan but the finale turned me right around. I absolutely loved their scenes and I have to admit to crying during their goodbye scene. They were the most mature I’ve seen in a long time. As for Luke and Lorelai, I’m over them. I just don’t love them the way the fandom does so my loyalties are flexible. It’s too bad cause they’re turning Luke into a horrible character. 🙁 I say bring on Christopher! The finale was great but all in all, there was too much of that trobadour storyline. I love this show but sometimes it needs to scale back a little on the random filler. Yay for the premiere next Tuesday!

Alias
I’m sad it’s over. (Even though the show probably should have bowed out a few seasons earlier, IMO). I wish that the writers would have found a way to end the show without killing off Jack. *sniff* He was the best. But at least he died to ensure Sloane wouldn’t be able to cause anyone pain again. I was also upset about Tom’s death. He and Rachel had so much potential that it was sad to see it squashed so quickly. I know it’s a finale but there should be some storylines left for the imagination, you know? Not quite sure how I feel about Irina’s death… she was a great character but I was really disappointed that she chose Rambaldi over Syd. 🙁 All in all, I was satisfied with the ending and I loved seeing Syd and Vaughn together and happy at last.

I suppose that’s it. I have about 4 episodes of Smallville left on the Tivo and I doubt I’ll find the time to sit and watch them before the premiere. I’ll probably just skim through some recaps on TWOP. Hopefully that’ll be all I need to understand what the heck is going on. I’m such a bad fan. :/

mid-season wrap-up

Time for my mid-season TV wrap-up (possible spoilers)… 🙂

Sunday
09:00: Desperate Housewives
What happened?!? I’m pretty much snoozing right through this season. The only housewife I’m remotely interested in is Bree.

10:00: Grey’s Anatomy
Snappy dialogue, great music, and those crazy interns… SO MUCH LOVE for this show. Seriously, it just keeps getting better and better each week. And they did a Christmas-themed episode! What’s not to like here?

Monday
08:30: Kitchen Confidential
I’m glad I got to see the Michael Vartan episode before FOX pulled the plug on the show. That was freaking hilarious. *sniff* RIP KC. I hope Bradley Cooper finds another show soon. He’s too gorgeous not to be on TV!

09:00: Prison Break
I didn’t think this show would last on my schedule but it’s really grown on me. The eye candy (Wentworth Miller!) doesn’t hurt either. I’m finding the conspiracy against Lincoln really intriguing (even though I think Lincoln himself is annoying) and the prison break-out really suspenseful. I’ve even really grown to like the little band of inmates that Michael has put together, especially Sucre. Yay cellmates!

09:00: 24
YES!!! JACK BAUER IS BACK!!! I don’t care how implausible or unrealistic this show is… I LOVE IT.

09:00: Related
This is another show that I never ever thought would last more than a few episodes. It’s not all that well-written and 1 of the sisters bugs me (Rose — it’s like she’s too perfect or something, argh) but I find it really endearing. The sisters’ relationship definitely carries the show.

09:00: Las Vegas
My “fluff” show. I watch when I can but don’t really care all that much if I miss it. It’s all about Josh Duhamel for me, anyway. BUT. I can’t believe that Monica (Lara Flynn Boyle) died the way she did. It was very… anticlimactic. She flew off the roof of the Montecito, people. And it didn’t even look real. I’m ashamed to admit that I had to stifle a giggle.

Tuesday
08:00: Gilmore Girls
The season didn’t start out very strong (read: I was a little bored) but it’s turned itself around. I’m not too sure how I feel yet about Luke’s daughter storyline. My initial reaction was “WTF! This sucks” but I’m willing to see where it goes and how it affects the wedding. I don’t think the wedding will happen as planned, though. (And I hope Lorelai gets a new dress cause the one she bought is AWFUL). Still indifferent about Rory, though. She totally lost me this season with her brattiness.

08:00: America’s Next Top Model
Pretty happy with Nicole as the winner. She doesn’t really come off as a model in person but she really rocked her photos. And did an amazing job at the last runway show. I would have liked anyone but Lisa or Bre to win anyway. I was secretly rooting for Kim, though. And is anyone still wondering who the heck stole Bre’s nutrition bars? I want to know!

09:00: Supernatural
Another unexpected hit. I just love the snappy banter between the Brothers Winchester. SAM&DEANRSOCUTE. The urban horror legends do give me the creeps sometimes (hey! I’m a fraidy cat!) but I think that’s part of the fun.

Wednesday
08:00: One Tree Hill
Every week I vow to stop watching (I hate Brooke/Lucas and I wish they would give Peyton a better storyline) but then they give me an episode like How A Resurrection Really Feels and I get sucked right back in. I mean, Nathan/Chris hijinks and Nathan/Haley lovin’? I can’t resist. I will be an even happier camper if Brooke/Lucas break up. Pretty please?

08:00: The Apprentice: Martha Stewart
Sadly, I never got around to watching this show. HEHE.

09:00: Lost
I don’t like the tail-enders. Well, except for Eko. Everyone else… ehhh. Especially Ana Lucia. She killed Shannon! Yes, I am still BITTER.

10:00: Alias
I’ve enjoyed the season so far and I really like the new additions of Rachel and Tom (it’s kinda too bad the show is ending because I really would have liked to learn more about them). It looks like the show is going to go out with a bang, though, which I’m really happy about. Loved the surprise of Irina in the last episode and I hope to see more familiar faces before the end (Will, Sark, Nadia, Weiss, Vaughn).

Thursday
08:00: Smallville
I’m enjoying this show more than I have in… oh, about 3 seasons. Lex’s turn to the dark side and James Marsters’s guest spot can really do that to a show. PLUS. They had the BEST Christmas-themed episode this season. Really. Lexmas was amazing. Not just for the ridiculously happy Lex/Lana or the return of the Clark/Lex friendship but for the whole revelation about Lex and why he chose the path he did. *wibble*

08:00: Everybody Hates Chris
I watched the premiere and it was DAMN funny. But unfortunately, I just kept forgetting about it. :/ When the show comes out on DVD, I’m definitely going to pick it up.

09:00: The O.C.
Can Johnny go away?! PLEASE? He BUGS. I’ve been a huge Marissa apologist for the past few seasons but I think she may have reached the end of my patience. Her displaced loyalty to Johnny gets on my nerves (Poor Ryan). Now Taylor… didn’t like her at first but I take it back. She totally rocks. I hope we get to see more of her. I’m pretty wary about Kaitlin’s return. I mean, do we really need another snotty teen drama queen? I’d love for them to bring back Teresa instead. I want to know what’s going on with her, damn it!

09:00: CSI
My only complaint is that there has been very little follow through with Nick’s kidnapping/buried alive storyline. We got little hints when the tape revealed an accomplice in the premiere and then when Kelly visited Nick at the lab but that’s it. They just keep stringing us along! I hope it’s worth it.

09:00: Everwood
It’s been so good this season. *happy sigh* Getting To Know You was so great with Ephram telling Amy he’s still in love with her. Awww! However, Reid is still around I’m sure that Amy is someday going to find out that Ephram asked him not to date Amy anymore… EEEK. I wish it would come back sooner than March, though. Stupid WB.

09:00: Reunion
Damn FOX. Why’d they have to cancel the show?! I want to know who killed Sam! And why Craig is in a wheelchair when he can walk! And why Jenna is mad at Craig! They had to cancel it right when the mystery was getting interesting. So frustrating. 🙁 And now I’ll probably never get the answers to my questions.

And that’s that. 😀

Yay Golden Globes tonight! Go Michelle Williams!

weird habits

Can you believe that I’ve actually been out *doing* stuff this past week? Thus, the lack of blogging. This also means I was totally behind on TV. Until today, which I spent doing my best impression of a couch potato. I have such weird TV viewing habits.

😛

So, the TV comments…

music post!

I really really want to go to Disneyland. When I was still in elementary school, I went to Disneyland every year for my birthday with my parents. I guess I’m just feeling nostalgic. Plus, I’ve heard Space Mountain is open again! I LOVE Space Mountain. It’s my all-time favorite ride ever. Hmmm. Maybe for Christmas…

I’ve discovered lots of great artists and songs from all of you so I thought I would return the favor and upload some of my current “songs of the moment.” 🙂

Black Eyes Peas – Gone Going
Black Eyes Peas – My Style (with Justin Timberlake!)
Death Cab For Cutie – What Sara Said
Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek
Jack Johnson – Better Together (if I ever get married, I want this song to be a part of my wedding somehow)
Jack Johnson – Banana Pancakes (Yum, reminds me of Hawaii)
James Blunt – Tears and Rain (Many thanks to Barry for reccing him in the first place!)
Kanye West – Gold Digger
Kanye West – Touch the Sky

I’ll probably take these down in a week or so. Songs deleted!

And some VERY brief TV talk while I’m here (beware spoilers)…
Veronica Mars, 2.02, Driver Ed
Wasn’t feeling this episode at all. It was all Jackie’s fault. She SUCKS. But yay Meg!

Gilmore Girls, 2.04, Always a Godmother, Never a God
How rude was Lorelai during the baptism?! UGH. If I were Sookie, I would have thrown her out. That entire scene was obnoxious. It made me so mad!

Prison Break, 1.07, Part 2
EEK. T-Bags is so awful. I hope he’s offed and doesn’t get a chance to escape. The actor who plays him is amazing, though. I seriously feel icky and squirmish watching him onscreen. *shudders* Anyway, loved the Michael/Sara interaction (ie. sexual tension :P) and the Michael/Lincoln hug at the end (you can just tell all is right with the world when they see each other). Too bad we have to wait 3 weeks for the next episode. Stupid baseball.

tv catch-up

I love October… because October means my birthday! Woot!

😀

I’m spending the weekend by myself (aaahhhh, alone time is so great) so I managed to do some TV catch-up. Possible spoilers ahead…

Gilmore Girls 1.02, Fight Face and 1.03, The UnGraduate
*yawn* There’s stuff going on but I am so bored. I’m waiting for something exciting to happen. And that does not include Rory getting a new hairdo (which I really, really like, actually) or doing anything involving the DAR. At least there was Lane! Finally. Very excited to see her even though I hate her storyline.

Alias 5.01, Prophet Five
%$#@! It better be a big fake-out or I will cry. I know Syd/Vaughn peaked in season 2 and never really got back on track but I can’t help it… I still adore them. And I’m so disappointed in this storyline. Why do they have to kill off all the people Syd loves? Danny, Francie, now Vaughn. 🙁 I was so sad when Vaughn was getting shot and Syd was trying to run over to him. Guh. Don’t even get me started on the whole double agent thing. Everything I loved about Vaughn is… GONE. I wish I could say that I’ll wash my hands of the show but I know I won’t. What is wrong with me?!?

Smallville 5.01, Arrival
Oooohhh, new credits! I like. But why is Erica Durance (yay, love Lois) before Allison Mack? They did that last season with Jensen Ackles coming before AM… why do they that? She’s a series regular and has been since the beginning, GEESH. I have to admit that I didn’t pay close attention to what was going on last season so I’m a little confused about… well, everything. Like Lex. Was it just me or was his turn to evil a little abrupt? And what the heck is wrong with Lionel? I’ve been planning on getting the s4 DVDs — I suppose I should do that sooner than later. Anyway, the Brainiac’s (squee, James Marsters!) introduction at the end was very cool. I’m excited to see him on this show. He should be a great addition.

Reunion, 1988
This show pains me. I wanted so badly for it to be good (partly because the concept intrigued me and partly because of Will Estes) but… it’s not. After the premiere, it’s been on a steady decline. And since it’s on a short hiatus for baseball, I don’t know that I’ll still care when it returns. I may just resort to spoilers so I can find out who died and who’s responsible. It’ll be less painful than watching the show, that’s for sure.

I wish the WB would stop showing promos for Related. I DON’T need another show to watch. But knowing me, I’ll probably tune in for the premiere. Let’s hope it’s completely awful so I can quickly forget about it. 😛

Still have The OC and Everwood to catch up on… but I should probably go to sleep since it’s 3 AM! HEE.

scott is gone!

YES! *pumps fist* Scott’s finally gone. I’m so happy. 😛

Too bad that’s not how I’m feeling about a few other shows I watch…
One Tree Hill
What was with the car racing?!? Lame. The only part of the episode I liked was when Lucas yelled for Nathan, ran for the crashed car, and then held him. AWW. Haley who? I’d love to see more Nathan/Lucas interaction!

Gilmore Girls
I liked Logan. Not so sure anymore. I thought he was a bit of a jerk to Lorelai and even to Rory. The episode didn’t do any favors to my impression of Rory either. Sometimes I can’t believe the things that come out of her mouth when she’s talking to Logan (ie. “You don’t have to be polite to me until we get inside the house”). Argh. So disappointing. I did feel bad for Lorelai during the Friday dinner. It’s hard to admit that you’re an outsider amongst your own family. I definitely sense some sort of rift developing between the girls.

Is it just me or did season finales just creep up really quickly this year? I feel like most of the shows (the exception being 24) I watch haven’t progressed at all since the beginning of the season (perfect examples are One Tree Hill, The OC… how can it be time for a finale when NOTHING HAS HAPPENED?!

I was watching CSI tonight and I saw a commercial for the Elvis movie airing this Sunday starring Jonathan Rhys-Myers. !!! Must remember to watch. JRM looks amazing. !!!

who is voting for scott?

WHO is voting for Scott?!? I was totally hoping my prediction would be wrong too. America, you are *killing* me. Seriously.

Because my brain is going to explode if I keep thinking about American Idol, some TV comments (I’m so happy the WB is back from hiatus)…

Jack and Bobby
I didn’t think I would still watch this show after Bradley Cooper and Mike Erwin’s characters left the cast but I somehow got attached to Jack. He’s certainly a very flawed character (screaming at Marcus and Courtney, not supporting Bobby with the track tryouts, dating that awful Katie) but there’s something about him that is so genuine. I loved the scene at the end of Friends With Benefits when he began coaching Bobby. Aww.

24
Jack just can’t catch a break with the women. His relationship with Audrey was doomed from the start. Poor guy. I don’t like her much but I was rooting for them if only to finally see Jack smile at the end of the season. I can’t seem to figure out how to feel about Vice President Logan (or well, President for the time being). Is he in on the terrorist activities or is he just the biggest coward ever? He is such a waste of time to me. I’d rather learn more about Marwan and his motivation for the attacks. But that’s probably just me.

The OC
First Sandy and Rebecca and now Kirsten and this Carter character. UGH. Stop messing with the Cohens. !!!

Gilmore Girls
Was a little bored with the episode. Plus, no Logan. Paris was a riot, though. And is it just me but does anyone else NOT like Lane and Zach? They just don’t do anything for me. And I really like Lane.

One Tree Hill
I may have said this before but I’ll say it again — Haley is dead to me. The episode was so hard to watch with all those great flashbacks of Nathan and Haley. *sniff* And then to see Haley basically take Nathan’s heart (after he drove so far to see her!) and stomp on it. I don’t think the writers can do anything at this point to make me love her the way I did last season. So glad Felix is finally gone! And I never thought I would say it but I think I’m beginning to like Anna. She was so undefined as a character that I couldn’t bring myself to care about her but now I do. I’m kinda rooting for her to stick around. Brooke and Lucas are still bugging me. I really wish the writers would stop projecting Sophia and Chad’s real life relationship onto the characters. So aggravating.

Phew. Would you believe I have *more* shows to catch up on? Hee.
