So yeah. I pretty much disappeared. Besides working, Rob and I have been prepping, painting and moving. OMG. It’s an incredible amount of work. In the past week, we’ve painted the entry, great room, staircase, 2nd floor hallway, and master bedroom. And there’s still many more rooms to finish. We thought we would be done with the entire house this weekend but that didn’t happen. We totally got burned out. Not to mention that the movers came last Friday so we’ve also been busy unpacking and trying to get things organized and livable. We’re getting there sloooooowly. Very slowly.

Day 08 – A show everyone should watch

Friday Night Lights. This show is AMAZING. I think many people get caught up in the football/sports aspect of it and don’t give it a chance. It’s so much more than that. Football provides the framework but this is about small town life in Dillon, TX and the people that make it their home. The characters are likable and real, the storylines are rich with emotion, and the show’s not afraid to take risks (some bad – Tyra & Landry’s season 2 storyline, some good – turning the show upside down at the end of season 3). Catch up on DVD! You won’t regret it.

Day 09 – Best scene ever

From Dawson’s Creek episode 3.22: The Anti-Prom…
Joey: I’ve been meaning to ask you something all night, Pacey. Would you like to dance with me?
Pacey: Yes. (they move to the dance floor) How come this feels so right?
Joey: It was those dance lessons.
Pacey: (he looks at her earrings) Where did you get those? They’re not you.
Joey: Why? Because I’m just a poor tomboy or… Dawson gave them to me.
Pacey: Nah. (raising her hand with the bracelet) See this? This is you. It’s not showy or gaudy. It’s simple. Elegant. Beautiful.
Joey: It’s my mom’s bracelet.
Pacey: I know.
Joey: How do you know?
Pacey: Well, because you told me. Six months ago. You were wearing that blue sweater with the snowflakes that you have. You were walking down the hallway at school. I was annoying you as per usual. You said, “Look, Pacey, I just found my mother’s bracelet this morning… so why don’t you cut me some slack?”
Joey: You remember that?
Pacey: (whispering) I remember everything.

LOVE THIS SO MUCH. The ultimate romantic moment.

Day 10 – A show you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving

Burn Notice. Rob started watching this show and I just wasn’t interested. The burned spy premise sounded intriguing but nothing about the cast (specifically Gabrielle Anwar) or the advertising appealed to me. Yes, I’m *that* superficial. Fast forward a few years later when I happen to catch an episode and instantly fall in love with Michael Westen. He’s smart, witty, and unbelievably charming. I’ve only seen season 3 on but hope to catch up with the beginning soon.

Day 11 – A show that disappointed you

Heroes. It doesn’t even get its own photo that’s how bitter I am about this show. Season 1 was so great — an ordinary group of people discovering their powers and figuring out how to go about their lives. But it allll went downhill from there. They ruined perfectly good characters with lame storylines (Hiro’s time travel in season 2 was an absolute snoozefest, Peter in Ireland also comes to mind). Characters were introduced only to let them fall by the wayside (Maya, Elle, Monica). Story arcs were unclear and confusing (only season 1 had a fulfilling arc – after that, I had no clue what the point of each season was supposed to be). What wasted potential.

Chuck and Heroes ended their second and third seasons respectively so I wanted to write up some quick thoughts before I forget…

Let’s start with Heroes, shall we? (beware spoilers!)

Heroes 03.25: An Invisible Thread
It was just… ok. I can’t believe Nathan died… AGAIN. Isn’t this the third time now? It’s getting a little predictable. But what I don’t understand is WHY they couldn’t use Claire’s blood to heal him?!!! Wasn’t that how Mr. Bennet was healed after he was shot last season? I admit I haven’t been paying very close attention so maybe that was a special, one-time thing? I don’t know. Anyway, as much as I love Adrian Pasdar, I wish Nathan was really dead. This whole Nathan/Sylar storyline is NOT COOL. I don’t believe that Mr. Bennet would allow Sylar to live. Hasn’t he wanted him dead since season 1? (And random: I had no idea Matt Parkman was so powerful… crazy).

Another thing I found strange was how THE BIG FIGHT between Sylar, Peter, and Nathan took place off-screen. When Claire was locked out, I thought we would see the fight from her perspective but then… nothing. That felt a little anti-climactic.

There were a couple of awesome moments, though…
- Claire standing up to the Secret Service agent. Haven’t been a fan of hers recently but this was cool.
- Peter shapeshifting as the President and drugging Sylar. That was unexpected and totally AWESOME.

I’m sure I’ll watch season 4… I have to find out what’s going on with Hiro (PLEASE give him a better storyline) and Tracy (can she not die?) and I’ll be waiting for “Nathan” to inevitably realize he’s Sylar.

Chuck 02.22: Chuck versus the Ring
This finale was AWESOME. AWESOME. AWESOME. I will be so sad if it ends up being a series finale. I loved every moment of this episode…

- Emmett telling Chuck he is a “flaming heterosexual.” BWAH.
- The entire MR. ROBOTO montage. I haven’t been the biggest fan of Jeffster but I have to admit this was CLASSIC.
- Mr. Awesome’s reaction to Jeffster — “Why are you letting Sam Kinison and the Indian lesbian ruin your wedding?”
- Casey dropping in to help Chuck fight off Roarke and his men. “You rang.”
- Sarah ripping off the bottom of her bridesmaid dress and looking for weapons among all the wedding presents.
- Casey. Wedding Planning. !!! “That clashes with the bunting.”
- Ellie and Awesome’s wedding on the beach. So beautiful. Loved the purple and fuschia color theme.
- Sarah choosing not to go with Bryce and essentially CHOOSING CHUCK. SQUEE.
- Sarah and Casey FINALLY not telling Chuck to “stay in the car” during a mission.
- Bryce’s death. I didn’t like him much but it felt like the right time.
- Chuck choosing the spy life and uploading the intersect. !!!
- “Chuck me.” Oh man, Casey had a lot of great quotes in this episode.
- Chuck gaining unexpected powers and fighting off all the bad spy guys.
- And Chuck’s last line… “Guys… I know kung fu.”

PHEW! Great set up for next season… *crossing fingers* So many good storylines already! How will Chuck handle his new abilities? What will happen to the Buy More? Will Ellie ever find out about Chuck? Who are these bad spy guys and how are they connected to Fulcrum? Will Chuck and Sarah ever get it together?!?

Aaahhhhhh… so good. Please let NBC renew this show. *sigh*

Monday night is, without a doubt, my favorite night of TV.

Gossip Girl. One Tree Hill. Chuck. Heroes.

Well, ok. Heroes really isn’t so great anymore but I still like to know what’s going on.

I’m an episode behind on GG and OTH but I’m all caught up with the other two so here I go with the comments (beware spoilers).

Chuck
This show is so awesome (even more than Captain Awesome). I love that Sarah’s past is being explored, Casey’s starting to warm up to Chuck, and Chuck’s getting the chance to flex his spy muscles. And there’s also so many great moments in each episode that constantly remind me why this show rocks my socks. Some examples from the most recent episode, Chuck Versus the Cougars…
– Casey as a DJ at the reunion. Oh, oh, AND he was dancing/clapping to MMMBop. OMG, that was fantastic.
– Chuck and Casey teaming up with Chuck as the bad cop (MAD DOG!!!) and Casey as the good cop.
– Sarah and Heather’s fight scene. In the shower no less. Total pandering to the male demo but I still thought it was classic. Playing Smack My Bitch Up during that scene was inspired. Hee.
– Actually, ALL the music on this show is perfectly chosen. I mean, they played Backstreet Boys and the Dawson’s Creek theme song during the reunion! Those are SO 1998! (I just realized this makes me a year older than Sarah. Huh.)
– Loved this quote by Chuck to Heather… “Of all the semi-tart Asian yogurt places in LA, you walked into this one…” I’m totally paraphrasing but that made me LOL.
– This didn’t happen in the last episode but I love the idea of Sarah as a yogurt store employee (at the Orange Orange!). Yogurt shops are so trendy right now; that was a perfect touch now that the Wienerlicious is no more.
The only change I want to make to the show is to incorporate the Buy More storylines into the main plot somehow. I like most of the Buy More characters (well, I like Lester, Jeff, and Anna — not Morgan so much) and want to see them in something other than the crazy “B-plots.” I don’t know how that would really be possible, though.

Heroes
Each episode since the premiere has been disappointing. I was so hopeful! There’s just way too much going on and too many characters. Not to mention that I’m slowly becoming indifferent to characters I used to love (Claire, Hiro and Peter — I’m looking at you).
– Claire, once my favorite Hero, kinda sucks now. I can’t stand her bad attitude. Though I have to admit that in the last episode, she was pretty bad-ass.
– Hiro totally aggravates me with his terrible decisions and bad judgment. I know that he believes that he’s supposed to be the one “saving the world” but now he just comes off as self-centered. AND he killed Ando. That is unforgivable. F to Hiro. Although I did like when he called the new character “Mister African Isaac.” Cause it’s so true.
– I can’t stand Parkman and Daphne. And I want to like them so much (because I adore Greg Grunberg)! But Matt’s storyline is a total snoozefest and Daphne still bothers me. I think it might be the actress. She only has 1 expression and she does that weird thing with her lips when she speaks. Totally annoying.
– Was not really a fan of Adam’s but no more David Anders.
– I kinda like Sylar now. I thought the character overstayed his welcome past the first season but now that I sense a redemption arc, I’m on board.
– I’m loving Tracy and Nathan even though they’re being severely underutilized right now. They are such a great hero-couple.
– Bring back Elle!

There’s definitely more that needs to be fixed to bring the show back to the awesomeness of season 1 — the suggestions in this article from ew.com is a good start.

I just recently discovered an awesome (AWESOME!) Heroes blog written by one of the show’s producers/directors, Greg Beeman. He blogs after most episodes and reveals some behind the scenes thoughts and scoop. So fun. Read it here.

Anyway, I watched the season 3 premiere last night and my first thought was…

WHAT?!?

My thoughts by characters/storylines…
First, Mohinder needs to go away. He bothers me. What did he think was going to happen when he shot himself up?!? I mean, come on. He’s supposed to be a smart guy, right?

I love Hiro and Ando but I wish they weren’t isolated from the rest of the cast. Again. Although the new tension between them gives their storyline an interesting twist. (Sidenote: James Kyson Lee is a cutie). Don’t like Speedy girl, though (I wasn’t compelled enough to look up her name). She’s too cutesy/perky for me. I hope they’re not setting her and Hiro up for romance. I’m still mourning over Charlie. *sniff*

FuturePeter sucks. He puts his past self into a criminal’s body? And he tries to kill his own brother? Who does that?!? I didn’t like Peter last season and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change.

Weevil! And Veronica! Together again. Aahhhh (hehe, props to Robyn for loving their reunion too!). I kinda wish they had the chance to have real dialogue. Oh, well. At least Elle got to kick some Sylar butt! Wait, does this mean she isn’t sticking around? Elle’s not a very likable character but Kristen Bell totally makes her sympathetic. Love that K-Bell.

Claire and Sylar’s scenes gave me the creeps. I had to look away when Sylar was picking at her brain. EWWW.

Tracey is intriguing to me and I’m excited to see that she’ll (probably) be interacting with Nathan. I particularly loved this exchange they shared:
Tracey: “Wait, you think you know me?”
Nathan: “The term biblically comes to mind.”
HEE.

Almost forgot about Parkman. I love Greg Grunberg (and always will) but all his scenes made me sleeeeepy.

Finally, Sylar is Angela Petrelli’s son? For real? Or is that a fake-out? Whoa. I’ll say it again. WHOA.

All in all, I thought it was a pretty solid return even though I didn’t LOVE it. Kinda weird. How about all of you?

In other Kelly news, I went to the doctor last week for a physical and she told me I have high blood pressure. Great. Well, at least now I *really* have the motivation to exercise more and eat healthier now. She thinks it might be more closely tied to stress and anxiety, though, so I guess that means I have to start working less.

Heroes
Solid premiere. Loved that Molly has 2 daddies! Awww. And was I the only who squealed “SARK!” when David Anders appeared as Kensei? Just me? (Come on, Alias fans!) All of his scenes with Hiro were pretty darn hilarious. The best was when Hiro had to put his glasses on when he saw that Kensei is actually white. BWAH. And I have to admit that I like that DA is rocking the English accent again. Hehe. But of course, I have some nitpicks. Are we supposed to like Claire’s new “friend?” Cause really, he creeped me out at the end with his flying and his STALKING. That is not romantic. I also didn’t care for the twins. I found them to be very… meh. Can’t wait to see what Niki and Micah are up to! YAY SHOW.

Reaper
Good cast, sharp writing, humor with a touch of the supernatural. So much LOVE. Is it weird to say that I love the Devil?! Ray Wise is phenomenal in this role — charming and funny yet slick and evil. Bret Harrison is also a standout. He plays Sam, the lovable college drop-out, perfectly. They make a great “team.” And cause I love quotes, I have to share some of the best from this episode:
– Sam: Is this a carjacking?
– The Devil: For this? If it was an Escalade, maybe.
– The Devil: Oh, gag, look at that tool. (This made me laugh at loud, which I rarely ever do).
– DMV Lady: Hmm. I’ve never seen one of these before. The Boss must think you’re a moron.

Anyway, it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged about TV so I thought I’d get started with a TV wrap-up for the season.

Up first: Monday shows! Beware spoilers…

*yawn* This season was a huge disappointment. So much potential but not enough follow through… like what happened to President Logan? His ex-wife stabbed him and we don’t find out what happened to either of them. Or to Aaron. Now that I think about it they never explained what happened with Walid or to President Palmer. But anyway, I didn’t care for this season because of the introduction of the Bauer family and their antics. I mean, why introduce Philip and Graham now? And Marilyn and Josh? I didn’t care about them at all. Not to mention the fact that the whole storyline completely felt like the writers were just making it up as they went along. UGH. I did enjoy the finale, though, because I got to see Buchanan and Jack working together again. YAY! The last shot was depressing, however. *hugs Jack* I hope next season is an improvement.

Heroes
Not much to say except that this is a *great* show. I love that the finale settled the first “chapter.” I just hope that Peter, Nathan, and Matt are okay. I haven’t read spoilers in ages (for any show) so I have no idea if it’s been revealed that they’ll be back. I hope so. Anyway, is Sylar dead? Because it didn’t seem like it. But then again, none of the other heroes seemed to be too concerned that his body was NO LONGER ANYWHERE TO BE FOUND. That confused me. :/ My favorite part of the finale, though, was seeing Molly and Micah interact. Usually I don’t like child actors (cause they’re rarely good actors) but these 2 are awesome.

I’m actually home sick today (I think I ate some bad sushi last night) so I decided to catch up on the 2 most recent episodes of Studio 60. Before it went on hiatus, I was a little bored with the show but watched it because there was nothing on TV at 10pm on Monday nights. I didn’t even miss it while it was off the air these past few months. I forgot I had set it for a season pass on my Tivo so I was pleasantly surprised to find 2 episodes waiting for me. I was even *more* surprised to find that I really, really enjoyed them both! If the remaining episodes are as good, I’ll be sad to see the show go.

I just LOVE it. It’s so shiny and pretty. I kept staring at it during work today.

Hmmm, I really need a manicure. Stat.

In TV news, it’s Upfronts week! NBC’s was today and there’s nothing really exciting to note except for the following…

– Heroes is expanding its universe with 6 stand-alone episodes revolving around new characters and their back stories. I love this show so I’m sure these Origins episodes will be just as awesome. This means 30 new Heroes episodes. Woot!
– Friday Night Lights is moving to Friday nights at 10pm. I’m so happy the show’s getting a second season but I just hate that the show’s stuck on Fridays. UGH. But maybe that’s my own hang-up… I don’t normally watch TV on Fridays. Hopefully this move will be a good thing since it’s away from American Idol and other heavyweight shows that air on Tuesdays.

I’m half-watching and half-listening to tonight’s episode of 24 and it’s totally upsetting me. This season is totally awful.

Poor Jack Bauer. He has the WORST. FAMILY. EVER.

Michael and Sara totally made me SQUEE with joy in Prison Break. Those two have smoldering chemistry. I’ve been so hesitant to like them together because in PB time, it’s only been a few months since they first met. There just hasn’t been enough time for them to develop feelings for each other. But I can’t help it. The show is trying to manipulate me and I’m totally getting sucked in. I’m such a sap.

I absolutely love Heroes but I rarely feel compelled to blog about it… until tonight. HOLY CRAP. The reveal at the end!!! (Cutting for spoilers).

I can’t believe NATHAN (!!!) is Claire’s biological father. I love Nathan. I love Claire. Such a great twist.

WOW.

It was a good night for TV.

SPOILERS ARE AHEAD…

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
I wasn’t that impressed with the premiere. Or even the second episode. The show’s a little too… preachy, maybe? I mean, I liked it but I kinda felt talked at, if that makes any sense. I’m also not crazy about Amanda Peet as Jordan. She comes across as too wide-eyed and innocent for me. And she only has 1 expression! The dialogue is sharp, though, and I absolutely adore the relationship between Matt and Danny (yay Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford!). I’ll keep watching for them alone. I just wish the show didn’t air at 10pm. That’s my bedtime, hehe.

Six Degrees
This show had to be great for me to make it appointment TV since Thursday night is entirely too crowded as it is (SMVL, SN, Grey’s, OC). And it just didn’t quite get there. I liked the characters but not enough to *care.* Sure, Whitney’s fiance is appalling, Damian’s situation frustrating and Laura’s story tragic but… that’s it. Nothing’s drawing me back for another episode. Mostly because they’re all such cliched storylines… cheating fiance, good guy with gambling debt, etc. I did enjoy the newly formed friendship between Damian and Carlos, though. That’s a plus. I’ll stick around for another episode.

Heroes
This is the best of the new shows I’ve seen so far. Reminds me of X-Men, which is probably why I like it so much. My favorites so far are Hiro (HEE!), Claire (her Dad is creeeepy), and Nathan (yes, even though he’s an a**hole). I wanted to like Niki but her bitchy attitude is such a turn-off. WHAT IS HER DEAL? I’m also on the fence about Pete. The mystery about his power is intriguing but I just don’t think Milo Ventimiglia’s a good actor. :/ Anyway, this show definitely has a place on my TV schedule. Greg Grunberg next week, yay!

Ugly Betty
I. LOVED. THIS. SHOW. Awww. (I was secretly hoping it would be awful so I’d have one less show to watch on Thursdays… no such luck). America Ferrera rocks. It was predictable but it was also over the top and campy and it worked! I’m hooked!

So out of the 4 shows above, I’ll probably be tuning in for 3 of them regularly. Oh boy.
