My 2010 New Year’s resolutions were pretty much an EPIC FAIL. I only accomplished 1 of them (buying a house). So my 2011 resolutions are basically the same with a few new additions.

Repeat Resolutions aka The Resolutions That Continue To Haunt Me
1. Save more money.
2. Blog more often.
3. Exercise regularly.
4. Drink more water.
5. DRIVE.

I feel like I am forever chasing these resolutions. Maybe this will be the year that they click? I think I can I think I can I think I can.

New Resolutions
1. Reconsider and finish up forgotten projects around the house — like painting the remaining rooms and organizing the garage.
2. Clean regularly. I have a tendency to get our house in order only when we’re expecting company. I need to be better at frequently taking care of the little things so they don’t pile up.
3. Be more discerning about my “fun” purchases. I’m a shopaholic but I recognize that I already have a lot of stuff (clothes, makeup, etc). I want to put more thought into what I buy and buy what I love.
4. Wake up earlier. Because I work from home, I am lucky to get extra sleep on the weekdays. But lately I’ve been cutting it WAY too close and waking up with barely enough time to take a shower and get ready for work. I’d like to wake up early enough so I can eat breakfast before I start my work day.
5. Cook more at home and meal plan during the week. Rob and I opt for take out more often than not because it’s sooo easy. Cooking at home would make us save a little money and because there’s only 2 of us, would provide us with food for additional meals.
6. Find a primary care physician. I know, I know. In the 2 years that we’ve lived back in SoCal, I’ve put this off. For no other reason than laziness. I go to the dentist and optometrist regularly but have to get this sorted out as well.
7. Finally, this is less of a resolution than it is a reminder to myself to really think about what I want to do with my life long-term. I’m no longer concerned with the ambition I had (and have since lost) when I graduated from college. Now what I really want (what I really really want), more than anything, is to have a job that doesn’t intrude into my personal life. Where holidays and vacations truly are days off and where late hours are nonexistent. I’d also like to love what I do and but let’s not get too crazy. All this to say, I don’t really know what I want and if I’ll ever find it. I just know that I’ve been feeling restless, unsettled and unhappy with my job and this is something for me to figure out.

How are you all doing with your own resolutions? Please share!

I’m one of *those* people that make New Year’s resolutions. Since I’m human, I inevitably forget all about them by the time February rolls around. But this year will be different! Let’s hope.

So here are my resolutions/wishes for 2010 (that’s twenty ten not two thousand ten)…

1. Buy a house. Rob and I are on 2 waiting lists and both communities are scheduled to sell this month. Cross your fingers for us!

2. Save more money. You know, for a rainy day. Or for another vacation.

3. Blog more. I’ve gotten so lazy when it comes to blogging. I used to write 10+ entries a month and now I’m lucky if I write 5. Every once in awhile I go back and read old entries and I love getting a glimpse of my thoughts from the past.

4. Exercise (and hopefully lose a little weight). Ah yes. Probably the most popular New Year’s resolution ever. I realize it’s such a cliché. It’s on my list this year because I pretty much took last year off from exercising. No joke. I need to be more active or I’m in danger of not fitting into any of my clothes. Horrors.

5. Drink more water. I fail at this. I need to keep a bottle of water next to me during the day. Otherwise I totally forget.

6. Drive. I have to conquer this fear. HAVE. TO.

7. Start scrapbooking again. I haven’t scrapbooked since we moved! I threw all my supplies into a huge plastic box and promptly forgot all about it. I finally opened it up today and realized that I have an incredible amount of scrapbook paper, ribbon, rubber stamps, embellishments, etc. Scrapping has been such a good creative outlet and stress reliever for me and I need that in my life.

I think my New Year’s resolutions are all very doable. Wish me luck! And I’d love to hear what everyone else’s resolutions are if you make them.

Anyway, yup, I’m back in the Bay. I got back on Sunday night and have been lounging in front of the TV ever since. It was a great vacation and I can’t believe it’s over.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Rob and I had a low key evening… we went over to a friend’s house where we ate yummy Zachary’s Pizza and drank champagne to ring in 2007. And of course we also watched the ball drop on Dick Clark’s Rocking New Year’s Eve. It’s a tradition!

I spent today doing absolutely nothing, which was AWESOME. I can tell I’m up for a rude awakening when I have to go back to work tomorrow.

Anyway, another meme… this time a 2006/2007 Fandom Meme stolen from Christie…

What fandoms did you acquire in 2006?
Heroes
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Ugly Betty

What fandoms did you let go of in 2006?
Las Vegas
The Nine
Six Degrees
Justice

What fandoms did you mean to get into but didn’t in 2006? Why?
The Office (no time for any other shows on Thursdays — but I have the DVDs on my Netflix queue!)
Friday Night Lights (I LOVED the pilot but I can’t seem to find the time to catch up. I do have all the episodes saved on my Tivo, though. Just need to sit down and watch them all…)
Brothers and Sisters (I want to check this out mostly because Greg Berlanti — he was a writer/producer on Dawson’s Creek, Jack & Bobby, and EVERWOOD — is the Executive Producer. I really enjoy his work. Unfortunately, Sunday just isn’t a big TV night for me. *shrug*)

What fandoms do you intend on checking out in 2007?
Friday Night Lights

What fandoms do you think you might let go of in 2007 unless things significantly improve?
America’s Next Top Model
Prison Break
Veronica Mars
Lost

What fandoms do you think you’ll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?
One Tree Hill (God only knows…)
The OC (There was a point just a few months ago when I thought I would give up on the show because of Marissa’s death but it’s made a tremendous comeback in my eyes. I can’t wait to see what happens next!)

What show impressed you most in 2006?
Heroes

What show impressed you least in 2006?
Veronica Mars

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Aaannnddd I’m back. Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I sure did! But as nice as it was to be away for awhile, it’s even nicer to be home.

But before I start blabbing about what I did, I want to plug the following organizations that are collecting donations for the earthquake/tsunami emergency in Asia:

Please donate if you can! Every little bit helps! Many, many thanks to Christie for posting and letting everyone use the buttons.

Well, Christmas was pretty awesome. Very low key, which is just the way I like it. I received some great gifts which I’ll brag about here (hee)…
– money (from one of the account executives that I support — kind of a weird present, I thought)
– Nordstrom gift cards (thinking of getting shoes — maybe round toe heels? also want to get a purse and cosmetics)
– Abercrombie gift card (already used it to get a hoodie)
– Banana Republic gift cards
– pink Banana Republic v-neck sweater (which I’ve returned because it was too chunky and I’m too short to wear anything that chunky)
– 2 GAP sweaters — one ivory and one lavendar with sequins
– GAP mitten and scarf set (so cute! It’s blue and green and really preettyy)
– pink/red Express button-up shirt (yay, clothes for work!)
– lavendar Limited shell
– pink Ann Taylor button-up shirt
– snowflake flannel sheets
– winter spice candle
– set of frosted glasses
– chocolate covered potato chips (which sound gross but are really, really good)
– lots and lots of boxes of chocolate

Pretty fun haul. I did notice that my family refrained from feeding my DVD obsession. Humph.

I still have to buy 2 more Christmas presents — for my dad and for Rob. Rob and I *always* wait until after Christmas to exchange presents. That way we’ll have more money to spend (hee) and so we can take advantage of the after-Christmas sales. As for my dad, he spent the holiday in the Philippines visiting my grandma so I didn’t even get the chance to see him when I flew down to SoCal. At least I have more time to think of a really good present to get him.

During my time away from home, I got the chance to spend some time in Santa Barbara visiting my cousin who goes to school down there. I finally saw her apartment and just her environment in general. I was only there for a day (and I spent most of it shopping since she was working at Bath and Body Works) but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s gorgeous. Very, very different from living in the Bay Area. However, I did get hit on by some guy who told me he had just been released from prison. Um, what?!? Great pick-up line there.

I also went to Las Vegas where Rob and I spent 3 days. I know, 3 days is a very long time. We spent a day with friends and then spent the next 2 days with his family. I don’t gamble nor do I drink so I basically watched Rob gamble the whole time… BUT he gave me an allowance from his winnings so I guess it was worth it. Hee.

Anyway, that’s that. I can’t believe it’s about an hour til the New Year. Craziness. Rob and I don’t have anything planned — but I’m sure we”ll probably watch some cheesy special on TV. So I’m off! Hope everyone is having a fun night!

Something I forgot to include in my list of New Year’s Resolutions is getting my DRIVER’S LICENSE! lol. If there’s a single most important resolution, it is most definitely that one. I think I have a complex — I get a bit scared and paranoid when I’m behind the wheel. Not a good thing. But I am determined. Oh yes, I am.

When I went back home for the Christmas holiday, I found out that a friend of mine from high school had gotten married a year ago and that another friend recently proposed to his girlfriend. It’s all so shocking — I mean, it seems too soon to settle down. We’re only 23 for goodness sakes! But maybe that’s just me — cause I definitely am not ready for such a huge step.

I must be so bored cause I spent a good part of the day fixing up my fanlisting pages — I even made buttons for some that didn’t have 100×50 codes! It should be a requirement to have 100×50 buttons available on your fanlisting. Ugh, I need to get out of my apartment.

May everyone have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2003. I’ve never really been into the whole New Year’s Resolution thing — mostly because I never had the willpower to actually follow through with any of them, lol. But I do love the idea of a fresh, new start so –

Kelly’s Resolutions for 2003 (in no particular order):

1. sit down and actually study for the GRE just in case I decide that I actually want to go to graduate school

2. start taking ballet lessons again — Can you believe that when I was 14, I believed that I was going to be a professional ballerina? I was so serious about it — but then high school came along and I realized that there were other things in life besides dancing. I really miss it though.

3. find a job that I actually like and enjoy doing
That seems pretty realistic, right? We’ll see how it goes.

Wowzers, I really have to get used to this flat screen on my new computer — the standard resolution on it is 1600×1200(!). I’m using 1280×1024 to make things just a bit bigger but geesh, everything still looks tiny. My site takes up little more than half the screen. Weird.

So I guess you can tell that I’m staying in for New Year’s Eve– no big party for me. I’ll probably just be watching TV. hee.

Plugs for Cat and Ji — thanks for the new year’s well wishes! mwah!
