I’m super behind on current TV (Grey’s, Ugly Betty, Private Practice, etc) but instead of catching up, I decided to open my OC season 4 DVDs and watch the series finale instead. Plus, I figure with the writers strike, I’ll have time in the next few months to get up to speed.

Gawd, I miss this show. I don’t think I ever blogged about the finale so here goes…

I really adored the entire episode. I was touched by the callbacks to the first season… from the score to the flashbacks of pivotal moments from the pilot (Ryan meeting Seth, Ryan gazing at Marissa as Sandy drives him back to Chino). But what I loved the best was seeing where the characters ended up.

The Coopers (Julie and Kaitlin, that is) are made of awesome. I didn’t particularly like Kaitlin when she first came back to Newport but in the last season, she showed vulnerability and heart and that was reflected in her relationship with Julie. They turned into such a great mother-daughter team. And when Julie got her college degree with Kaitlin in the audience cheering her on… well, that was icing on the cake.

Seth and Summer getting married was totally expected but I still loved seeing it happen. Their best moment of the finale by far, though, was their goodbye scene. When Summer sat down on the bus, looked at Seth through the window, and put her hand on the glass… Guh. I fell in love with them all over again.

Ryan and Taylor’s ending was left open-ended (damn you, Josh Schwartz!) but I think their scenes left pretty good hints of what’s to come. Or at least that’s what *I* like to believe. I mean, come on — did you SEE Taylor rip Ryan’s shirt off as soon as they had a moment alone together? They ooze sexual tension.

I do wish that there would have been some room in the finale for one last Sandy/Ryan scene… and I wish they would have filmed the Berkeley scenes on location. The UCLA and Caltech campuses are gorgeous but they just don’t look anything like Cal.

But back to my other favorite moments…
– Summer giving Julie the locket with Marissa’s photo. I always tear up during this scene and I’ve seen the finale at least 4 or 5 times now.
– The Valley meta… “Real life Jake and real life April broke up!” I know it can be overdone but I like that the show can poke some fun at itself.
– Ryan taking Flapjacks out of his hoodie pocket. Awww. Though I admit his pocket was not exactly the best place to hold the little guy.
– And THE BEST scene of the episode, was definitely this exchange between Ryan and Seth…
Ryan: “I’m a lot better off than when you found me.”
Seth: “Me, too.”

*sniff*

I also started re-reading the Harry Potter series. Finally! I quickly finished Sorceror’s Stone so now I’m on Chamber of Secrets. I don’t think I’ll get through them all this week so after book 2, I might jump straight to Half-Blood Prince. Ack, I can’t believe Deathly Hallows is almost here. I don’t want the series to end. *tear*

So today I went to see Order of the Phoenix again with some friends. I liked the movie the first time around but I liked it A LOT better the second. Some spoilery thoughts (in list form like Sarah because it’s easiest)…

Things I Didn’t Care For
1. Sirius’s death. I just… it’s not how I pictured it. I thought the curse was instant.
2. Details that were different from the previous movies. For example, both the Dementors and Sirius communicating through the fire were executed differently in Movie 3. I like consistency. :/
3. Cho selling out the DA. I know it’s easier for the storyline not to introduce another character and it makes it clear that a romantic relationship between her and Harry didn’t work out. But I have a soft spot for Cho.
4. Not enough Occlumency!
5. I missed Quidditch and Ron and Hermione being prefects.

Things I Loved
1. Dumbledore’s Army. SQUEE. Exactly how I imagined.
2. The casting of Professor Umbridge, Luna Lovegood, and Bellatrix Lestrange was spot on. They were all pretty darn perfect.
3. Daniel Radcliffe. He really just keeps getting better and better. ILUFFHIMSO.
4. The kids in the Department of Mysteries holding out their wands ready for battle. It seriously gave me chills.
5. The Dumbledore/Voldemort fight was SO AWESOME.
If anyone else has written a blog about the movie, let me know in the comments! I love to read everyone’s thoughts. But for now, I’ve got to get back to my reading…

Oh, Britney. What is going on with her? Shaving her head, hitting an SUV with an umbrella outside of K-Fed’s residence, entering her 3rd rehab facility… ??? OMG. I’ve always been a fan but seriously, this is too much. Get a grip, girl.

So tonight was the series finale of The OC. The episode is saved on the Tivo but I haven’t watched it yet. If I do, the show will really be over! I hate it when shows end.

I usually have big plans like cleaning the apartment, doing laundry, going to the gym, etc. But what always happens is that I catch up with my TV and eat. A LOT. For example, I rarely ever eat donuts but this weekend, we passed by Krispy Kreme and I think I inhaled about 6. YIKES.

And I think I totally overdosed on TV too. I caught up with most shows (except Studio 60 and Gilmore Girls) and I blew through a cumulative total of 10+ episodes to get almost-but-not-quite caught up with Smallville and Friday Night Lights.

Honestly, I’m not sure why I still watch Smallville sometimes, lol. Lex and Lana (the characters and their relationship) are ruined to me and I’m finding myself really loving Chloe. WHAT IS GOING ON?!

But Friday Night Lights is a completely different show and gawd, I absolutely love it. I cry for Jason, I get angry at Smash, I am sad for Matt, I am horrified yet understanding about the Street/Taylor lawsuit, and I go “Awww” for Matt/Julie and Coach/Tami. This show? It sure makes me feel. I especially love all the men. They’re the ones that make this show work for me. The ladies are great too (except Tyra — after 13 episodes, I haven’t warmed up to her at all) but they don’t really hold a candle to Coach, Matt, Jason, Tim, Smash, and Landry. *hugs them all*

So I’m watching the latest episode of Grey’s Anatomy and all of a sudden, I see an old friend of mine from high school!!! He was playing a paramedic at the beginning of the episode and he actually had a few lines talking to Derek. Is that weird OR WHAT?! Back in high school, he was always the one who tried out for school plays/musicals so I’m not surprised to find that he’s still working at it. I’m so happy for him. We weren’t super close or anything but we had a lot of mutual friends so we kinda ran around the same circles and went to school events together as part of a big group. (Robyn, if you’re reading this, it was Tim!) The other big surprise of the episode was the very end. You know what I’m talking about. Mmmm. Also, Izzie needs to learn when to keep her mouth shut. Chastising George about his marriage was SO not appropriate at that time. I used to love her so much. But now, I can’t stand her. I think I might even like George more than her. Which is saying a lot.

The series finale of The OC is just days away. The penultimate episode was great but I couldn’t watch it without feeling sad. I did love the following moments:

– Ryan: I suddenly have the urge to listen to Death Cab and….read comic books.
Seth: Really?
Ryan: No.
– the callbacks to prior storylines and characters… Lindsay/Sadie, making a list of everyone Ryan’s punched in Newport
– Taylor diving into the kitchen before shooting her mom. BWAH.
– Ryan: I don’t know if I mentioned…
Seth: You did.
– Ryan and Seth becoming blood brothers
– Seth: If we could’ve turned this into a body swap comedy, we could’ve squeezed another year or two out of this.

I have high hopes for the finale. *sobs*

I think I’m giving up America’s Next Top Model. I have too many shows to keep up with and something has to go. Especially since I’d like to give The Black Donnellys a try.

I can’t believe there’s only 2 more episodes of The OC left before it’s OVER. This season has been so great compared to the last two and I’m so sad to see it go. *sob* I’m especially sad that I won’t be able to see anymore of Ryan and Taylor’s story. I never thought about the pairing prior to this season (I can’t help it — I loved Marissa) so I was pleasantly surprised when the show brought them together and I fell in love. They’re so different (Taylor’s overwhelming while Ryan’s passive) yet they just work. And I don’t know that I’ve ever seen Ryan so happy before. The way he looked at Taylor when he said “I love you” in the last episode was absolutely swoon-worthy. Actually, they had a ton of great scenes in The Shake-Up:

– After getting drunk, Taylor says she’s going to sleep and Ryan knows she’s pretending… “Are you pretending to go to sleep thinking I’ll tell you I love you while you’re unconscious?” HEE! *Such* a Taylor thing to do.
– Before Ryan says “I love you,” he sweeps her bangs to the side while looking at her adoringly. GUH. THIS KILLED ME DEAD.
– At the end of the episode (but before the earthquake!!!), Ryan says it again… “I love you… and I don’t want to lose you. So let’s put it all on the table. Berkeley, Paris, Oxford… anything.”

LOVE THEM. Ben McKenzie and Autumn Reeser have great chemistry together.

I should also mention that Willa Holland has totally impressed me this season. I didn’t like Kaitlin at all last season. She had a bad attitude and misbehaved simply because she wanted to get a reaction from those around her. But this season, the writers have really given her layers and Willa’s done a great job of portraying Kaitlin as manipulative (clown porn!) yet caring (all her scenes with the Bullit) and vulnerable (her short-lived relationship with Chris Brown). So I’ve definitely warmed up to the character but in the last episode, when she was yelling at Julie and said “In the last year we lost Dad, Marissa, Dr. Neil…,” that’s when I finally understood her and loved her for it.

Oh, The OC, I’m going to miss you so.

Well, I’ve finally caught up with all 13 episodes of Brothers and Sisters. Just in time to catch Emily VanCamp’s episode next week. I really love this show. From Justin’s rebelliousness, to Kevin’s secret relationship with Chad, and to Nora’s general wackiness… it’s all great. I can’t wait to see how EVC’s character, Rebecca, interacts with the rest of the Walker clan.

My Classic Short Uggs in Chestnut are my most favorite shoes. EVER. They’re not exactly fashionable but they are *so* warm and toasty. I wear them to and from work every day in the winter. I think I may invest in a Chocolate-colored pair.

Favorite Handbag requested by Alyson

I didn’t care for Louis Vuitton pieces until this year. Then all of a sudden, I HAD TO HAVE this bag. Going to Paris made me pull the trigger since the prices there (even with the exchange rate) are less expensive than in the US. It’s a little hard to get in and out of but I love that it complements any outfit really well.

*N Sync Dolls requested by Robyn

Rob gave me a complete set of *N Sync marionette dolls back in 2000 when I wanted anything and everything *N Sync. I displayed them on my bookshelf and all but the Lance doll remained unopened in their boxes. (I couldn’t resist opening one of them, hehe). Anyway, when Rob and I moved to our smaller apartment in 2005, there just wasn’t any room for them. I had to box them up and put them in storage. I did keep my JC Chasez bobblehead out, though, so that’s what’s shown in the picture above. It’s on top of my desk.

My Christmas Tree requested by Carmen

YAY!!! My Christmas tree! I love it so. I always decorate my tree in cream and gold… it just looks so elegant, I think. The tree’s actually still up. I was too lazy to take it down on New Year’s Day. :/ I’ll have to do that this weekend. It makes me sad because it means the holidays are officially over. The second picture is a close-up of the tree, specifically the pretty, pretty Eiffel Tower ornament I got in Paris.

The pink and red theme is also really beautiful. I loved the sight of them every weekday morning.

Had an okay weekend. I got a stomachache on Saturday so I spent a good part of the day in bed. Ugh. I caught up on The OC (really, really liking this season so far) and I watched The Break-Up. HATED IT. There were some funny moments and Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn were good but the whole storyline was… EH. I also went to see Borat today, which was pretty hilarious. I wouldn’t say I *liked* it, though. The highlight of my weekend was getting an iPod nano! Rob got me a 4gb red one as a belated birthday present. I’m going to use this one for the gym.

More Paris…
Sun, October 15: Day 3
After our Parisian breakfast of croissants and coffee (I must have gained about 10 pounds from all the bread I ate!), we were off to Montmartre to see Sacre Coeur. (Montmartre is the northern part of the city where many artists reside). We took the Metro (we’re total pros now) and got off at Anvers. I was actually hoping the Abesses stop would be open by now (it’s been closed for renovations). That was the Metro stop featured in the movie Amelie and I just wanted to see it! Maybe next time. We walked up a hill (huffing and puffing the whole time) that took us to the bottom of the steps leading to Sacre Coeur. We took a breather by the carousel and prepared ourselves for the stairs. I guess we could have taken the funicular up but we were feeling adventurous. As we headed over to the stairs, we were approached by the men who try and stop you to tie a bracelet around your wrist. If they happen to get you, you’re tied to them and have to give them money to be released. They try to convince you to take the bracelet by saying it’s free. We walked away from them quickly (though one of them totally grabbed Rob’s arm) and started the hike up the stairs. It took us a little while (we stopped every time there was a bit of platform) but it was worth it when we arrived at the top. The basilica is absolutely gorgeous and the view from up there was wonderful. We were overlooking all of Paris! We went inside and lit a candle for my mom and walked around admiring the statues and sculptures. As we exited, I noticed that they had those machines that make impressions on coins for souvenirs. Is it just me or is that the *last* thing you’d expect to see in a church? I’ve made them before but at an amusement park!

We walked down to Place du Tertre to check out the artists’ square. There were some absolutely gorgeous watercolor paintings of the Arc and the Eiffel Tower and I was incredibly tempted to purchase one but I decided against it since they were pricey (between 25-50 Euros) and I didn’t know how the heck I was going to take it with me on the plane. We continued our walk through Montmartre and into the Pigalle area (Red Light District) on the way to the Moulin Rouge. Since it was Sunday, most of the shops were closed (so weird to me!) but we did find one sex shop that happened to be open. We went in but there was nothing exciting. LOL. Just a few more steps down was the Moulin Rouge! It was so fun to see the famous dance hall and its iconic windmill.

Our next stop for the day was the Marais. We made our way there via the Metro. As we walked up to the street level, we found ourselves at the Place de la Bastille. There’s nothing left of the prison at all so there’s nothing to see. Across the street, though, stood the Colonne de Juillet (memorial to commemorate the deaths in the street battles of 1830) and also the Opera National de Paris Bastille. The Opera completely stood out because it’s made of glass… I actually didn’t like it at all. We continued walking over to Place des Vosges. It’s a beautiful park that’s perfectly symmetrical (nine houses on each side of the square). I just loved all the parks/gardens in Paris. They’re so well-maintained, gorgeous and peaceful.

By this time, we were so hungry. We spotted a Quick fast food restaurant (like the McDonald’s of France) and ordered Supreme Cheese burgers meals. It wasn’t really a very good burger (my all time favorite fast food burger is from In-n-Out) but it came with Coke! And it didn’t cost us $5! Heh. After lunch, we walked along the Rue de Rivoli down to Ile de la Cite. We sat in the Square du Jean XIII, which is a beautiful garden behind Notre Dame. I think I love the back of Notre Dame even more than the front. The flying buttresses are spectacular. Guh.

I wanted to pick up a book to read for the plane ride home so we looked for the English bookstore Shakespeare & Co, which I knew was nearby. What a great little store! It’s TINY. It felt so homey and the employees are really friendly and give you recommendations on books and things to do in the area. I picked up The Time Traveler’s Wife, which a good friend had suggested to me. (I finished the book on the plane and didn’t like it :/).

By this time, we were absolutely exhausted from all the walking so we bought tickets for a 1 hr. sightseeing cruise on the Seine. We sat on top of the boat for a good vantage point of all the sights. The boat passed many of the monuments (D’Orsay, Conciergerie, Notre Dame, etc) but once we got to the Eiffel Tower, our camera battery died after just a few photos! GRRR. I was a bit surprised to see that the homeless population of Paris have tents set up all along the river banks. Some of them looked pretty permanent too. Looking back, though, I’m not sure why I was so shocked. Paris is a big city and all big cities have homeless problems. Still, it was a nice trip down the river and we got to rest our poor feet. After the cruise, we picked up gyros and banana/nutella crepes for dinner and headed back to the hotel for the night.

2. It’s a small moment but I just adore when Nathan finally shows affection towards Haley at school. He runs over to her at the end of the episode and gently tucks a strand of hair behind her ear as his friends look on.

3. Nathan: I gotta tell you, man. I never thought when we played that one on one game, that I’d end up back here, feeling like this.

Up until this point I wasn’t entirely convinced that Drue really cared about Jenn. But this scene cemented it. He looked so hurt. Oh, the angst.

Hee! The HUGE smile on Drue’s face is classic.

3. Drue climbs up to Jen’s window and she lets him inside her room and wraps a blanket around him since he’s freezing from the cold outside. He asks for a place to crash for the night and when she says “Yes,” she tousles his hair and he gives her the CUTEST smile ever. AWWW.

Audrey
1. Giving Dawson a tour of the Worthington campus.

I saw potential for a fun relationship with Dawson and Audrey (she would totally loosen him up!).

2. When Audrey spilled food on herself (twice!) to get Joey to accompany her to the kitchen and talk about the kiss they saw between Jen and Dawson.

I’m not the biggest Audrey fan but I do think she was a good friend to Joey (a much-needed female friend, actually). At least in season 5.

3. Speaking her mind at Christmas dinner.

Her little tirade was completely inappropriate for the occasion but it was spot-on.

Pacey
ACK. I LOVE PACEY. How can I pick just 3 favorite moments?!?

2. Pacey (to his dad who has passed out drunk on the beach): Why can’t you see me, huh? When did you give up on me? When I was 5? 10? 12? I’m 16 years old, Dad! *starting to cry* I’m trying so hard for you. It’s your job. It’s your job to love me no matter who I am or what I become because you’re my father! You’re my dad! You’re supposed to love me you son of a bitch. I can’t do this by myself.

Pacey’s pain *kills* me here. Josh Jackson is amazing.

So I hear that Veronica Mars is moving back to Tuesdays at 9? It won’t have ANTM as a lead-in anymore… I hope that won’t cause the ratings to go south. I guess that’s a better slot, though, since it won’t be against Lost anymore. And I’ll be able to watch VM live now. I can always Tivo Supernatural.

Burke. He’s awesome. He’s a strong character but doesn’t come across as unlikable. And he has a really tender and romantic side, which makes me *swoon.*

That’s easy. Ecklie. I don’t even know his first name, that’s how much I like him. He’s a good antagonist but most of the time I wish he would leave the CSI’s alone!
03. What would a crossover between #1 and #5 include?
EEEK. Well, I hope that the Everwood folks would mellow out the OTH kids. At the very least a confrontation between Dan Scott and Dr. Abbott would be mighty interesting. Dr. Abbott could teach Dan a few things about parenting. Heh.
04. Who is your favorite ship from #6?
This changes a lot (hey, I’m fickle). But right now, I’d say Kirsten and Sandy. As much as I love Seth and Summer, I love Kirsten and Sandy both together and individually which sometimes I can’t say for the teens (*cough*Seth*cough*)
05. If you were to set one person from #3 and one person from #6 on a blind date, who would they be?
Weevil and Ryan? Hehe. They’d actually make an interesting duo since they both seem to have that hero complex when it comes to the women in their lives. I’d also like to see interaction between Taylor and Logan. I think they would be hilarious together. Taylor would boss him around and he would probably love it.
06. If you could meet one person from #4 and spend the day with them, who would it be, and what would you do?

7. If you could change one thing about #2’s plotline, what would you change?
I mentioned this in a previous entry, but I would kill off Denny. I think Izzie’s journey would be much more interesting. I mean, what kind of relationship could she have with him if he lives? It would all be off-screen because I just can’t seem him as a series regular or even a guest star. It doesn’t make sense. Plus, Izzie needs to learn to have some distance with her patients.
Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from show #5, and why you like the relationship between them.
I adore Nathan and Haley. I just love their entire romantic story. From their secret tutoring sessions… To their surprise kiss… And to their gorgeous (but completely unexpected) wedding on the beach. Even in season 2, when the writers messed with Haley and her character, they kept me watching the show.
9. If the lead title characters (first name in the credits) from #1 and #3 were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be?
Well… I guess I would have to agree with Alie, I would save Kristen Bell over Treat Williams.
10. If you could change the title characters’ order in the credits for #4, what order would you choose?
Erm, I can’t remember the credit sequence and I’m far too lazy to check my DVDs… I’m sure the credits are fine. I don’t remember ever thinking I wanted to change the order…
11. If you were able to add a new character, any kind of character you wanted, to the storyline for #6, what would the character be like and what would their role be?
The show is a revolving door as it is with all the new characters they have each season so I wouldn’t add anyone else right now. I actually would bring back Teresa. I want to see some resolution to that baby storyline!
12. What happens in your favorite episode of show #2?
Huh. I just sat here thinking about this for awhile and I don’t think I have a favorite episode for GA. There are lots of moments that I love, though… Burke giving Cristina a key, Izzie helping Alex study even after he slept with Nurse Olivia, Cristina and Izzie helping Meredith shower after the bomb explosion, Burke helping Izzie with Thanksgiving dinner… Lots of great stuff here.
13. If you could kill off one of the characters of #1, who would it be and how would you do it?
No one. I love all the Everwood folks THISMUCH. Sometimes I do have it out for Dr. Jake but during those times, I just want him to leave, not die. Besides, I hear that there’s already going to be a character death this season and I don’t want to think about that.
14. If you got the chance to visit the set for either show #3 or show #5, which would you choose?
Tough one. I’d probably choose the set of Veronica Mars just cause I’d love to hang out with Kristen Bell and Francis Capra. I came very close to choosing OTH but the rumor is that the set is ice cold in large part because of the animosity between Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray.

This scene from the season 3 finale hurt. Tony put Michelle’s life before his job and national security… and he pays a steep price for his love. JUST. Guh.

4. Nathan & Haley, One Tree Hill

Nathan and Haley had their first kiss in The Search For Something More (episode 108) and it was everything I hoped for.

5. Jess & Joe, Bend It Like Beckham

This kiss didn’t take me by surprise like their first but it made me absolutely giddy. It’s just *such* a hopeful kiss.

6. Anne & Gilbert, Anne of Avonlea

Awww, my favorite literary couple. They had a relationship that was destined from the start. This kiss was monumental. And really, about time.
