So Rob and I are tentatively planning an overseas vacation for our first anniversary this summer. While we haven’t officially booked anything yet (waiting and waiting for my vacation to be approved), I figured that I should go ahead and update my passport since I changed my name. Plus, I couldn’t wait to change my passport photo. It is THE WORST picture ever. It was raining in SF the day I took it and I didn’t think to take off my big wool coat or the scarf around my neck for the picture. So I look all huge and bulky. Not a good look. Since I can renew my passport by mail, all I have to do is fill out the application with my new name, write a check for the fee, and send a couple of 2×2 photos. I took my new passport photos at a local mail center and they are EVEN WORSE than the previous ones. My eyes are half closed so I look like I am sleeping standing up. UGH UGH UGH. I was so tempted to take them again but I’m cheap and didn’t want to spend another $10. I’ll just have to live with it for the next 10 years. GREAT.

ANYWAY.

I went to see Up this past weekend. (spoilers?)

Really enjoyed it but GAWD, it was saaaad. I was surprised at how mature the whole movie was — if I was a little kid, I don’t think I’d like it. I definitely appreciate the theme and the message much more at 29. I cried through a lot of the movie (the entire Carl/Ellie montage, Carl getting called a public menace, Carl finally discovering Ellie’s pictures at the end of her adventure book, and finally Carl/Russell becoming buds at the end).

My favorite character is Russell (I want to give him a big HUG) with Dug a very close second. This Dug quote is my absolute favorite of the movie…

“A squirrel walks up to a tree, and says, oh no, I have no nuts for winter. And now I am dead. It’s funny because the squirrel is dead.”

I love this quote too…

“My name is Dug. I have just met you and I love you. My master made me this collar. He is a good and smart master and he made me this collar so that I may speak. [pause] Squirrel!”

BWAH. It’s all in his delivery. So cute.

Highly recommended movie. Go see it!

Random – I’m watching the MTV Movie Awards while blogging and Kristen Stewart just dropped her popcorn award. I cannot watch her. She’s so awkward that it makes me uncomfortable for her.

The lazy stick hit me again.
