It’s a book that’s being written about my high school. So weird. I might have to buy it so I can see if the author’s observations match up to my own memories of the Whitney High School experience. Reading the summary about the book made me laugh though — “What does a top public school look like? In the case of Whitney High, it’s a ramshackle campus in an unfashionable part of L.A., where the budgets are tight and the student body resembles a mini United Nations… But attending a dream high school carries a toll: high-achieving, high-pressured kids survive on espresso and four hours’ sleep and fall into despair if they get a B. Forget Generation X. This is Generation Stressed.” BWAH! So true. The campus really was awful — it was tiny, the carpeting sucked, the lockers were a hideous orange color, and until just a few years ago, we didn’t have a gym (of course, it was built after I graduated). And I believe there’s still no football team. As for the stressful environment, I can definitely attest to that. I think the school in itself was hyped up so much that we all thought we needed to live up to the reputation. Not to mention the pressure coming from parents, teachers, and even each other. It definitely was not a typical high school experience. But I have to admit that I kinda miss it. Good times, good times. I do have to say that I take a little bit of offense that Cerritos is considered “unfashionable.” It’s not *that* bad. Humph.

Time for the Friday Five:

What brand of toothpaste do you use?
Colgate.
