ironman

There is a freaking heat wave here in the Bay Area. The one day I would have preferred to stay in my nice air-conditioned office, I had to run out and do errands at the post office. UGH. It was about 90 degrees in the city today. It’s almost midnight now and it is STILL sweltering. YUCK.

I just realized that I forgot to mention a couple of recent milestones…

On April 12th, Rob and I celebrated our 9th anniversary. Can you believe he’s put up with me for that long? 😀 And then this past Monday, on May 12th, we celebrated our “engagement-versary.” (I don’t know what else to call it!) 😀 Time has flown by so quickly. It seriously feels like I just got engaged yesterday. And now there’s only 86 days until the wedding. (!!!) I feel really lucky that I have Rob in my life. He understands and loves me despite all my faults (see below entry for evidence). We share the same hopes for the future. We have interests that overlap (TV!) but we have our own things as well. But best of all, Rob can look at me and smile and I can still feel the butterflies. (Points for you if you get the reference :P).

So. Iron Man was AWESOME. I totally want to go see it again (possible spoilers)…

Robert Downey, Jr. is, without a doubt, the best part of the movie. I’ve always liked him (he’s so incredibly charming) but now I think I have a full-fledged crush. Just the way he can convey so much with a small look or gesture. And his delivery of all the one-liners is brilliant.

Some of my favorite scenes/quotes:
— The stripper pole on Tony’s plane. BWAHAHA. So perfect.
— “…and sometimes, that involves taking out the trash. Will that be all?” — Pepper (I’ve always been pretty indifferent to Gwyneth Paltrow but I really loved her in this role).
— “If my math is correct and it always is…” — Tony.
— Tony’s first flight test when he threw himself at the wall. I totally saw that coming a mile away but it still made me giggle.
— “Face it. This isn’t the worst thing you’ve caught me doing.” — Tony
— “Douse me again when I’m not on fire and I’m donating you to a community college.” — Tony (HEE!)
— And finally, the BEST QUOTE EVER. “I am Iron Man.” RDJ rocked that line.

And yes, Rob and I did stay until the end of the credits for the teaser scene.

Totally a set up for the sequel. YAY.

Such a good way to get the summer blockbuster season started. And there’s so many more movies to look forward to! I am definitely going to try and catch…

Chronicles of Narnia: Prince of Caspian
Sex and the City (MR. BIG!)
Indiana Jones
Get Smart
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants sequel
Dark Knight

Can’t wait.
