ALIAS!!!

I’ve been listening to Christmas music non-stop this weekend. *happy sigh* It makes me so giddy.

Two other things that make me giddy are…
1. CAL won the Big Game against Stanford yesterday! 41-6, YAY!

2. Seeing the new Alias promo!!! I was just watching Desperate Housewives and all of a sudden, there it was! Ahhhh. It was so good! A really fabulous mix of old and new images — Syd in various disguises from past seasons, Syd and Nadia kicking ass, and the kicker — Happy!Syd and Vaughn! *dies* OMG, it’ll be such a nice change. They were so depressing last season. It looks like that’ll change this season. Maybe I didn’t watch close enough but did anyone see Jack, Sark or Weiss at all? I spotted Marshall but didn’t see the other 3. I’m sure Alias Media will have the download… for me to watch about a million more times. As for the new timeslot, I’m undecided about it. On one hand, I think having Alias on Wednesdays at 9 will allow it to capture viewers from Lost but on the other hand, isn’t that already a pretty packed timeslot? Oh well… is it January 5th yet?

Anyway, I was reading Christie’s LJ and she brought up something I’ve been thinking a lot about — blog versus LJ. I’m sure everyone’s noticed that the blogging community has been dying down and many people have moved over to Live Journal. It’s enough to make me want to close up shop here! I mean on LJ, there’s the easy to read friends lists and the built-in comment feature. But then, I think about all the work I’ve put into building my blog/sites (and the money!) and I just can’t let it go. I don’t know. Anyone have any opinions either way? Or can anyone share why they prefer using LJ? Argh. Must stop over-thinking things.

I’m very excited about this coming week — 2 days of work then 5 days off! Plus Turkey Day! 🙂

  1. I like that you still have a proper website. I will return to the website front soon!! Once schoolstuff is behind me I will jump on that wagon again 🙂 :hehe:

  2. I loved the Alias promo. January 5th cannot get her soon enough. I just hope that new night won’t hurt the show.

The blog community has definitely been suffering from lj. Everyone seems to be moving over there. I think more people are going over there because you can edit who can read what you write. There is only so much you can do with lj, but so much more you can do with your domain, which is why even though I blog at both I like my domain a little more.

  3. LJ-ing is more what i do now because i don’t have much time for editing/coding/ and making graphics, as much as i miss it, it’s just easier. but i do like to take time on my free time to brush up on my coding skills and i still love making graphics.

and i admire you THIS MUCH for holding up your site for so long, i think my internet-ness actually grew up with your site. 🙂

  4. Well personally, I prefer blogs/domains because you can’t host fansites on LJ. Also, I don’t have a LJ, so if you moved over there, I wouldn’t be able to comment. 🙁 But I do understand that it’s free (or quite cheap) and that is a major turn-on for a lot of people. I hope you don’t leave the blogging community, though.

  5. Hee. I admire you for still having your blog up. I think a big part of lj for me was the whole privacy issue. I like to talk about stuff going on in real life and fandom related stuff — but I didn’t want my real life friends to know about my thoughts about them, etc.

But yes, I still do the blog surfing thing! It’s awesome.

  6. Aww–Kel! It would make me quite sad if you stopped blogging over here; you were the first real blog I ever read, after all. I only keep my Livejournal around for sentimental purposes since I had a LJ before I had a blog/site. And also, because the convience is quite undeniable. But, I love my blog because I really have grown to love webdesign, and now I can’t give that up. Haha–I am probably too attached to the web as a whole. 😛

  7. Hi! This is going to be first comment, however I have been reading your blog for months.
Well, I did have a blog with a domain. I loved it so much, but I had to realise it wasn’t working. At least for me. It was hard for me to catch up other personal blogs, then I moved to livejournal. At first I tried to maintain two blogs. One at my domain, one at lj. 1 month later I realised it wasn’t a great idea, so I kept the livejournal one.
I think, I gave up on my domain a bit easier, because I didn’t have a great history there, opposed to you. It’s your decision … I think most people choose lj because it is easier for ‘beginners’.

  8. I love that you still have a blog. You’re the only person I know actually who does still blog. I’ve thought quite a bit about just using LJ lately, but then my stubbornness kicks in and like you I just can’t let my blog go.

  9. Yeah, I understand what you mean about the LJ thing. I only use LJ right now because of 3 reasons, I have friends on there and I love the communities and I can’t get my damn blogging stuff to work on my domain 🙁

  10. Everyone is talking about the Alias promo and I haven’t seen it. I’m quite envious.

I blog and LJ, though it’s hard as I really don’t have much to talk about, but I tree. I like to make my layouts for my blog, though I’m not very good at graphics, but it’s kind of fun to try. I’m not creative and imaginative like you, lol.

  11. I refuse to choose. LJ is nice for the whole community thing, but I still feel blog is more expressive, and isn’t your journal all about expressing yourself?
