This past Saturday Rob and I went to the Glee Live concert at the Staples Center with some friends.
It’s no secret that I’m pretty critical about the show. But who cares about that. The concert was GREAT! It was 80 minutes of infectious, gleeful FUN.

Evidence of my attendance. 🙂
I took photos during the concert but our nosebleed seats combined with the point and shoot I was using didn’t translate into good shots. But I’m going to post some of them anyway.

Opening number was “Don’t Stop Believing”. This was my favorite song of the concert. You could totally feel the anticipation of the audience when the first few bars of the music started playing. Then the cast came out and the excitement was palpable. Awesome.
What I loved most of all was that the concert really showcased everyone. Like you’d expect, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Amber Riley had solos but most of the cast did too. Heather Morris performed “Slave 4 U” and while I’m pretty sure she was lip-syncing, I think she out-Britney’d Britney. Her dancing was fan-freaking-tastic. Naya Rivera, Mark Salling, Cory Monteith and Kevin McHale had their own moments in the spotlight as well.

Ok, I’m biased. I love Darren Criss and I love The Warblers. So I was overjoyed when I found out they would be on the tour! They sang a mini-set of 3 songs and were terrific.

… And it was all over so soon. They closed the show with “Somebody to Love”.
I’m seriously amazed at how much time this cast puts in to their work — probably more than any other TV cast out there. During the season, not only do they film the show, they also have to lay down the tracks and practice for the musical numbers. And now when they should be on hiatus, they’re performing in this multi-city arena tour. Amazing.
Posting the set list for reference because I like this kind of stuff…

watching heather morris dance and hearing lea michelle sing were totally worth the deafening high pitched screams of the pre-pubescent and utterly fabulouth concert behind me.
I wish we had tickets for the London shows, I would’ve loved seeing the cast perform all the hit songs live! It sounds like you were in for a great show!
If this was coming to Denver, I’d totally go. The music is my really only enjoyment in the show so I’d be all over this. I’m glad the Warblers performed. I love them! How fun.
Jealous! I so wanted to see Glee live.
First of all, HARDO: It’s MICHELE…as Rachel sings, GET IT RIGHT! Ha! 🙂
I got to see the concert in Anaheim the night before your concert…and I LOVED IT! I felt like I was watching the show! They all sounded great!
Definitely seeing Lea Michele sing live made it ALL worth it! She was the one I really wanted to hear live. And she didn’t disappoint! LOVED her…she sounded AMAZING!
OMG…I totally thought Heather was lipsynching too! I mean…she isn’t the best singer to begin with, and with ALL that dancing she did, can’t imagine she could sound that good. 😛
Pretty impressive how much time they devoted to the Warblers. Altho after hearing just HOW MUCH the girls were screaming for them (mainly Darren Criss of course ;)), I can see why. What I loved even better was that Darren got to perform WITH New Directions too! Like in the Friday number, he got to sing with the guys. And even with the group numbers, he was incorporated too. Awesome.
Who got the most screams at your concert? For mine, I would say it was Chris Colfer and Darren Criss. Altho in general ALL the guys got a bunch of love from the audience.
I agree that it was nice that they all got showcased…but on the other hand, because there’s SO MANY people in this cast, the amount of TIME each person gets is SO LIMITED because
it HAS to be. So that I was kinda sad about.
Still hard to believe I actually saw them live! I wish the concert itself was a bit longer, but other than that it was great!
At our concert, I actually think Cory Monteith had the loudest screams. From all the tween girls, of course. 🙂 They went CRAZY for him! Then I’d say both Chris Colfer and Darren Criss were next. But you’re right, all the guys got so much love from the crowd.
I wish the concert was longer too. There are so many more songs I would have loved to hear! But I’m just glad I got to see them live. Can’t wait for next year! 😉
