And yet another month goes by in an absolute BLUR. I was sick for most of July and thought I’d gotten over it in time for Comic-Con but ended up pushing myself too much while in San Diego and got sick all over again. GRRR.
I’m much better now. 🙂
So it’s time for my Comic-Con recap! It was our 5th year attending the Con and we had a FAB time (well, despite some bad decision-making on our part on Saturday – LOL, I’ll explain later). Can’t wait until next year! Until then, I thought I’d share some highlights…
Wednesday, July 17
On the way down to San Diego, we stopped at San Juan Capistrano for brunch at Ramos House. Oh man, it was SO GOOD! SJC is only about 20 minutes south of where we live but neither Rob nor I have visited since we were kids. It’s so beautiful — I wish we had more time to explore.

Ramos House is located in Old San Juan right next to the train station and the seating is outdoors. It was opening day for the Del Mar Race Track so we had a great view to people watch (I especially loved the women in their snazzy hats!).

We shared crab hash and salmon lox and it was all incredible. Even the complimentary scone with apple butter was to die for. I wish I had picked up a jar of the apple butter to take home. Next time!
We were lucky enough to have 4-day Comic-Con badges with the extra preview night so once we arrived in San Diego, we hit the exhibition hall to scope out all the booths and of course, the TOYS & merchandise! It was WAY more crowded than it’s been in past years so we ended up spending most of our time in lines. To be expected, though — Comic-Con is well known for its abundance of LINES!
That night, we had free tickets to the midnight screening of Psych the Musical. WHEE!

Based on Twitter reports, the Psych cast arrived at the screening in the Weinermobile! And on our way to the movie theatre, we spotted it driving around. So awesome.

We arrived about 45 minutes to showtime so we were pretty far back in line. Unfortunately, this meant we sat in the very first row of the theatre and this was our view.

But this ALSO meant that we were THISCLOSE to the cast when they came in to greet all of us. WOOHOO! (Yeah, sorry… terrible pic, I know).
The musical is scheduled to air in December and it doesn’t really make ANY kind of sense in the context of the show right now BUT it was a lot of FUN!
Thursday, July 18

The first day of the Con found us in line for Ballroom 20 to see the Psych panel for the 4th year in a row. The cast is hilarious and so talkative that this panel is ALWAYS a highlight. To guarantee ourselves a seat, though, we had to sit through 3 CBS/CW shows that we weren’t interested in. And sadly, the panels did nothing to change our minds. Though it’s always so awesome to see and hear the actors knowing they’re in the same room!

First up was Intelligence. Josh Holloway is a cutie! We got to see the pilot, which was… fine. It seems like a WAY more serious version of Chuck. Loved Chuck. Didn’t love this.

We also watched the pilot for Star Crossed, which is a midseason show on the CW featuring Aimee Teegarden and Matt Lanter. It’s your basic girl meets boy high school romance (with a probable love triangle!) but the twist is that he’s an alien whose people are trying to integrate themselves on Earth. I was not impressed.

The panel for Beauty and the Beast was the traditional format with moderated discussion at the beginning and fan questions at the end. I don’t watch the show so everything went over my head but I found Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan to be incredibly charming (and gorgeous!).
THEN FINALLY. The Psych panel!

Corbin Bernsen was announced first. He didn’t have a nametag on the table so he decided to set himself up on the edge of the stage. He eventually got a chair, LOL.

GORGEOUS.

I love this cast SO MUCH!

I’m pretty sure James Roday and Dule Hille are having a “Suck It” battle in this pic. HILARIOUS.
After 5+ hours in ballroom 20, we left to eat lunch and stretch our legs. I think we even went back to our hotel to take a nap. Gawd, WE’RE OLD.

We managed to drag ourselves out of bed to check out what was going on in the Gaslamp Quarter.

After a YUMMERS dinner at The Blind Burro, we headed over to Nerd HQ, which was being held at Petco Park this year. It’s so amazing to see Nerd HQ get bigger and better each year.

I can’t pass up a free photobooth. No photo with Zachary Levi this year, though. 😉
More soon.

Aww…Beauty & the Beast?! Love that show! Nice to know Kristin & Jay were appealing. Been a fan of Kristin’s since Smallville, so that’s what made me watch BATB in the first place. Jealous! Would’ve loved to see them in person! 🙂
Sounds like you guys had a great time! If I were to live in Cali, I’d be sure to visit Comic-Con as well!
I LOVE THIS!! Someday I will get to Comic Con, meet you, and see amazing panels. Thanks for the recap. It’s a great way for me to get my own little slice of SDCC.
Looks like you guys had a fantabulous time 🙂 🙂 Your pics are so awesome and fun!! I want to go!
And Happy Birthday to my favorite WWF fan!
star crossed sounds like roswell…no pics of the loot…maybe next year i’ll get a ticket
Random late post… I started watching Psych cuz of you guys. I started sometime in late August, and now I’m on season 4. That show is so fun! Can’t wait to see the musical!
