sausalito art festival

I am so freaking tired. *sigh* I spent last night helping Rob’s brother move to his new apartment — wow, I totally forgot just how much I hate moving. It sucks. I’m never going to move, ever — it would be a total pain to pack all my stuff. I have so much… junk! lol.

And then, I had to wake up at 5am this morning to go to work(!). As a second job (and because I really love radio), I work at various events around the Bay Area for KGO Radio. Anyway, this weekend (yes, I’m working all day tomorrow too! wah!) we’re at the Sausalito Art Festival. Sausalito is a great little town just north of San Francisco after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge — it’s gorgeous. It sits right on the water and there are beautiful homes sitting atop the hills. Very upscale. Anyway, artists from all around the country are at this festival to promote and sell their work — it’s amazing to walk up and down the booths to see the paintings, watercolors, sculptures and photographs. But geesh, I was there at 6:30 this morning and I didn’t get home until 8pm! I was seriously ready to pass out. My feet are *still* killing me. And I have to wake up tomorrow morning and do it all over again. Geesh.

omg! Has anyone seen that TV show on NBC called Meet My Folks? I watched an episode earlier and I could not stop laughing! The premise is that there are 3 guys or girls who get to spend a weekend with a guy/girl and his/her parents. They have various “tasks” that need to be performed or “dirty little secrets” will be revealed about them. And at the end, the parents get to pick the person that their child gets to go on a vacation with. Bwah! On the show that I watched, there was a guy (who was totally hot and his name was Josh! like my huge celebrity crush. hee) and three girls — two of which looked like they had boob jobs. heh. But damn, all of them had some crazy secrets — they apparently have all cheated on ex-boyfriends, one dated a 51 year old because he was her “sugar daddy” and spent thousands of dollars on her, one knowingly slept with a married man, one got fired from her job at a clothing store for having phone sex, etc etc… the list goes on. I was like, how do they get this information?!? But it was hilarious watching the girls try to defend themselves. The information about the girl who dated the older man was that he was 60 — but when she tried to explain herself, she said “Well, first of all, he wasn’t 60, he was 51” — bwah! Oh, that makes it sooo much better, honey. I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time.

Well, I’ve rambled way too long — but just to make it a bit longer —

The Friday Five
What’s your favorite piece of clothing that you currently own? My tan corduroy sherpa jacket from Abercrombie.
What piece of clothing do you most want to acquire? A long red coat like this one from Banana Republic.
What piece of clothing can you not bring yourself to get rid of? Why? Uh, nothing really. If I don’t like something, I’ll donate it to Goodwill — and I don’t really have clothes with that much sentimental value. With shoes, though, I’m like a pack rat. I have pairs of shoes that I haven’t worn in years.
What piece of clothing do you look your best in? Just jeans, a cute baby tee and a fun belt. For some reason, I’m very big on belts right now.
What has been your biggest fashion accident? WAY back, I used to wear jeans where the waist was really high. AND I used to tuck my shirts into my jeans. *shudder*

happy birthday rob!

It’s Rob’s birthday today! Happy 24th to him! 🙂 We went to a sushi restaurant called The Drunken Fish — so good! My favorite item is this spicy deep fried tuna roll. Yuuuumm. Random: if you look up drunken fish + oakland, a previous blog entry of mine comes up. hee! Search engines fascinate me.

Hehe, I actually voted after watching American Idol tonight — for Kelly, of course! Her voice is just amazing. And she’s such a cutie pie. 🙂

I can’t believe I’m leaving for Hawaii so soon! I haven’t started packing or cleaning my room yet — so much to do, so little time. Grr argh!

90210

I am currently on a Beverly Hills, 90210 kick. I spent the better part of today watching a 90210 summer marathon on FX. It rejuvenated my love for Brenda/Dylan and Kelly/Brandon. ::sigh:: So of course, I surf around trying to find pics of them and… nothing! The only pics I’ve managed to find are teeny tiny. Back in high school, when my 90210 obsession was at its peak, I had this scrapbook where I kept all the articles and pics I could find on the show and the cast. ::hides:: I can’t remember if I threw any of it away — it’s been so long since I actually looked through the stuff that’s still in my room at home (in southern CA). It would be great if it was still lying around cause then I’ll have cool pics to scan. 😛

go kelly!

Am feeling sick. Hope this stupid stuffy nose goes away by the time I leave next week. Grr. I always get sick at the most inopportune times.

Oh! I remembered to watch American Idol tonight. Kelly Clarkson is my personal favorite — she is so versatile with her singing style — every genre so far, she’s been right there taking the challenge with flair. I hope she wins!

And uugghh, did anyone catch the disaster of a movie on MTV? Real World: The Lost Season? I was flipping the channels while American Idol was on commercial break and caught a few minutes of the movie — terrible. Where do they come up with these stupid ideas?!?

american idol

So I finally broke down and watched American Idol — and I’m sad to say that I’m hooked. *sigh* After the disappointment of PopStars 2 (I hated the second season but I thought the first was highly entertaining), I didn’t think I’d ever be able to watch these crazy reality shows again. But gah — these contestants are actually pretty good. 😛 My two favorites are definitely Justin (I love his facial expressions) and Kelly (what an amazing voice and a great name :P). AJ had a cute voice but he didn’t look very comfortable on stage and that girl Ryan made me cringe. I guess the others weren’t very noteworthy cause I can’t remember anything about them — either that, or I just have the most horrible memory. 😛 I’m sure I’ll tune in tomorrow to find out who gets booted off — let it be Ryan! — heh.

R2D2 obsessed

I’m in love with R2D2. (Yes, the droid from Star Wars). 😛 I keep playing with my little stuffed R2D2 toy — it beeps when you press its stomach! It doesn’t take much to amuse me. heh. Anyway, I’ve just started reading the original trilogy books and I watched The Empire Strikes Back earlier tonight and I had a question (I’m looking at YOU Sebastian!): How come R2D2 didn’t recognize Yoda when he and Luke went to the Degobah system? Or at least remembered his name or something? Hmm…

Anyway, I also caught the series (no! *sob*) finale of Felicity. *Semi-spoilers ahead!* — It was umm… ok. I have to admit that I wasn’t crazy about the whole time-traveling idea but at least it helped me understand that Ben is Felicity’s destiny. The writers made that perfectly clear especially with Noel getting married. I’ll always be a FAN though — and watching all those flashbacks of their romance in season 1 made me miss them so much. ::sigh:: The ending shots of the cast were perfect — all of them laughing and smiling. But can someone explain to me why Elena was there at the end? Didn’t she die a few episodes earlier? And Tracy? I liked his character but I didn’t think he was that important to bring back for the final episode, much less the final scene. And I just loved the little “Thank you” commercial from the WB — they really did say “Hey” a lot. 😀

giles, how i missed you!

Wow, what an amazing episode of Buffy — I feel so emotionally drained from watching it. I love love *loved* seeing Giles again. 🙂 I’ve missed him so much! And since I don’t follow spoilers for the show too closely, I had no idea he was coming back. What a great surprise! I loved the Giles/Anya scenes (and was it just me, or did anybody else sense something between these two?), the Xander/Willow scene at the end, and of course, “Darth Rosenberg.” hee. I wasn’t too crazy about Dawn, though — I used to like her but lately, she really has been a bit annoying. But maybe that’s cause the writers haven’t given her much of a storyline. Eh, whatever the reason — I need her to take her whining off my TV screen. 😛 And whoa! That ending! I consider myself a Spike fan but I don’t know what to think. Hmm…

dc sucks!

Gah — I’m not even going to say anything about DC cause if you know me by now, then you know I hated it. With a passion. I wish I could say that I am not going to tune in for Season 6. But I’m a glutton for punishment. ::sigh:: And did the closing shot of the episode freak anyone else out? The way the camera captured Joey’s smiling face was creepy.

Anyway, gonna see Star Wars (whee!) in 2 hours!!! The bad thing is that I’m only going to have, like 3 hours of sleep before I have to wake up for work. Ah well.

farewell roswell

Wow… so Roswell’s over. “Graduation” was not the most satisfying season finale but it made me smile, made me cry and it made me remember why I fell in love with the show way back in the good old days of Season 1. I loved the scene between Michael and Maria when he told her that she’s the only one for him, I loved the good-bye scene between Kyle and Valenti, I loved the Max/Michael hug and I adored the fan shout-out with the bumper sticker at the end. ::sigh::

Yay! Star Wars tomorrow at midnight baby! Whee!

four long months

Mother’s Day always makes me teary-eyed. I lost my mom to lung cancer 9 years ago and there’s not a day that goes by when I don’t wish that she was still here, by my side. I miss her *so* much. There are so many events in my life that she’ll never get to witness — and I always wonder if I would have made different decisions or become a different person if she had been here while I was in high school. Like, I always felt that my dad was terribly over-protective — if my mom had been around (she was by far, the more lenient parent), would he have been less so? Or would I *still* have chosen to attend UC Berkeley for college partly to get away from the suffocation I felt from both my dad and the rest of my family? I mean, I love love love my Dad but I really didn’t start to appreciate him until I put the entire state between us. My mind is such a mess right now. ::pulls hair::

As for less weighty topics —

omg. That’s all I have to say about the season finale of Alias. I don’t know how I can wait *four long months* to find out about Vaughn! ::sniffle:: There’s so many other unanswered questions too — Dixon? Syd’s mom? Haladki? Emily? Will’s article? What a way to go — more questions than answers. Geesh, JJ Abrams really knows how to rev up for the next season. And YAY! Michael Vartan in leather. ::drool:: More please. 😛
