my little hiatus

These past few weeks with my sites down, I’ve watched an obscene amount of TV. Seriously. I finally bought Gilmore Girls on DVD and watched the entire first season in the span of 4 days. Yes, I realize that means I watched like 5 episodes a day. Hee! I had forgotten just how great the first season was. There’s Tristan! And evil Paris! And Rory/Dean (back when they weren’t adulterers)! Good times. 😀

I’ve also been giving my Felicity DVDs a workout. I sped through season 1 last week and now I’m about 3/4 done with season 2. I’ve always preferred Felicity and Noel but during this viewing, I’ve started to warm up to the idea of Felicity and Ben. I used to think of them as kind of an unrealistic couple; one that had chemistry and sexual tension but whose personalities weren’t really compatible. But now I can see that they have a special connection and I’m torn — I love both couples! Or maybe this newfound Felicity/Ben love is just an offshoot of my Keri Russell/Scott Speedman love… I listened to their commentary (on season 2’s The List) and the two of them crack me up. They sound really comfortable with each other — they laughed at how young they look, Scott teased Keri about her short hair — but they never seemed to know what the heck was going on in the episode! Heh. Though that seemed to be the case with all the cast commentaries.

Some other commentary highlights —
Greg Grunberg, Tangi Miller, Amanda Foreman and Amy Jo Johnson (commentary on season 2’s Sophomoric) singing the s3/4 theme song. Short but really funny.

Scott Foley (commentary on season 2’s Ancient History along with Keri) doing an impersonation of Scott Speedman’s whisper.

Scott Foley and Keri reminiscing about their character’s relationship and coming to the conclusion that they never had sex. HELLO! I know they’re only actors but I can’t believe they forgot about that storyline. Humph.

Anyway. Dawson’s Creek season 4 DVDs on October 5! It’s like an early birthday present for me. 😀

Speaking of birthdays — Happy (belated) Birthday to Amanda and Emma! 🙂

they’re here!

SCORE! My Dawson’s Creek DVDs came today! I wasn’t expecting them until tomorrow so it was such a pleasant surprise to come home and find them here. Yayayayay. Amazon.com rocks my world.

I only watched a little bit of it so far and I have to say that the image quality of this set is *much* better than that of season 2. The picture is vibrant and gorgeous and it’s not noticeably grainy like the previous set. Right on.

The theme song change isn’t that bad either. The first few times I watched the credits it was a bit jarring not to hear Paula Cole but I do think ‘Run Like Mad’ is a better song overall. I guess if changing it saved money for the other songs, then I’m not going to complain.

Also, there’s a little insert that says Season 4 is coming soon! I’m such a Happy Kelly today. 😀

dc s3 DVDs

The Dawson’s Creek season 3 DVDs are out tomorrow (or today depending on when you read this)! WOOHOO!

I’m over the moon excited about having this season on DVD. (PACEY & JOEY!) My tapes are not in good condition after the repeated viewings over the years. I still have to wait until Wednesday to get my grubby little hands on the DVD set, though, because Amazon shipped them today and I paid for 2-day shipping. Hehe.

My only concern is the music! Guh. I wish it was possible to keep the original music for the DVD releases but there are monetary obstacles. Of course. If anyone’s interested, here is the complete list of replacement songs…

— I can’t believe the theme song was changed! WOW. I wasn’t expecting that at all. I *always* watch the credits (don’t know why but I do) and now… it’ll be weird. I can’t believe I won’t be hearing I don’t wanna wait anymore…

— Yes! “Hold On” in 301 made the cut. The Pacey/Joey dock scene wouldn’t be the same without it.

— Yes! “That Would Be Good” also made it in 308. I was worried about this one because Alanis Morissette is a popular artist and I figured the fees for this song would be too high. Anyway, yay!

— *clunk* NO! “Both Sides Now” was replaced in 312 when Pacey watches Joey fall asleep. I love that Joni Mitchell song.

— *gasp* “In Your Keeping” from 320 didn’t make it! This is killing me. This song is so damn angsty and fit perfectly with Joey standing alone on the dock at the end of the episode.

— Score! “My Invitation” from Pacey and Joey’s prom dance in 322 made it. Phew! That scene is very high on my all-time favorite DC scenes and I’m happy they didn’t mess with it.

— “I Will Be There For You” got the ax. Crap. That’s when Joey runs down the dock to find Pacey in 323…

— But YES! Pacey and Joey sailing away to “Days Like These” in 323 is still intact. Another sigh of relief. The end of the entire season must not be messed with.

I guess I’m a little disappointed in some of the songs they chose to replace (especially the theme song) but overall I’m just *so* happy that this season is being released on DVD. I know I’m going to be spending my weekend in front of the TV. 🙂

north shore

Ahhh, I’m feeling much better now… as I should after spending the past 4 days at home! Whee! I just love playing hooky from work and lying in bed watching my Sex and the City DVDs all day. Mmm.

So there was new TV tonight! I caught the premiere of the North Shore… and I guess it’ll do for my cheesy summertime drama (I’ve pretty much given up on Summerland — it was just *too* bad). The show reminds me a lot of NBC’s Las Vegas (Josh Duhamel, baby!) with the hotel/casino setting and the focus on the employees and guests. The storylines of the pilot were pretty bad (especially the Lamborghini situation, the celebrity visit and the Jason/Nicole love story) but… it was pretty! Hawaii looked breathtaking and the bartender, played by Jason Momoa of Baywatch: Hawaii fame (WHAT!), was definitely easy on the eyes. I’ll probably tune in solely for him. Heh.

I’ve also been watching Joan of Arcadia (Keenai, you would be proud :D)! I’ve seen 2.5 episodes (Recreation, half of State of Grace and Double Dutch) and so far I love what I’ve seen. Although… I really have absolutely no sense of the backstory (like what happened to Joan’s dad? and what’s going on between Joan and Adam?). Does anyone know if CBS is going to rerun the first few episodes again this summer or should I just break down and start downloading them?

Many, many thanks to my buddy Siobhan for the gorgeous card from Paris! 😀 I just got it today. Very exciting!

everwood on DVD

Squee! Got my tax return today. 😀 I know just what I’m going to splurge on — DVD sets! Now, the question is which one(s)? I want to get Gilmore Girls s1, Smallville s2, Buffy s6 and West Wing s1 or 2… Guh, it’s not going to be easy narrowing it down.

Speaking of DVDs, season 1 of Everwood is being released on DVD! Season 1 was the season of angsty Ephram/Amy *and* Colin… my beloved Colin. If anyone’s interested, the cover art and the extras are listed on TV Shows on DVD. There’s supposed to be deleted scenes, a gag reel, and commentary by Gregory Smith and Treat Williams. I’m a sucker for extras.

I also read that The Apprentice is coming out on DVD in August. I don’t know that I’d buy it but I’d be tempted. Because of Kwame. He was a great competitor. *cough* Heh.

Thanks to Christine for the help with my browser. The font is back to normal!

Enough rambling — I have to get changed to go to the movie theatre (I’m wearing my Gryffindor t-shirt, hehe) to see Harry Potter… so excited!

harry/hermione

Huh. Somehow I managed to change the default font on my web browser to a really really tiny-sized Times New Roman. I keep trying to change the settings back (by using Internet Options) but it’s not working. *kicks browser* Anybody have any suggestions?

I remembered to watch the series premiere of Summerland on the WB. It was okay… nothing special. It’s too bad because I was hoping to have a show (not a reality show, thankyouverymuch) to watch this summer. I just couldn’t get past the really bad acting (especially by all 3 kids and even Lori Loughlin) and the predictable storylines. Plus, at 2 hours, the premiere just went on for waaayyy too long. And I’m sure it’s not just me, but everytime Lori Loughlin or Merrin Dungey spoke, I kept thinking of Aunt Becky (Full House) and Francie (Alias)! Shawn Christian and Ryan Kwanten aren’t too bad on the eyes, though, so maybe they’ll be enough to make me stick around. The show’s only on through the summer anyway.

As for more important things — I’ve been on a total Harry/Hermione kick lately thanks to Carrie so I made this H/Hr icon for my LJ:

Just had to share because I love them so much. 😀 2 more days until PoA!

american idol finale

Seriously, the American Idol season finale does not need to be 2 hours! Just tell me who won and that’s it! But no — FOX has to stretch out the results as long as possible. OF COURSE.

My comments…

— It was good to see LaToya and George perform during the pre-show. I just love them! And as much as I love LaToya’s voice (she was actually my pick to win this thing), I can see why her critics say she has no personality. She has an amazing voice but she is a bit bland.

— Is Jasmine wearing cropped cargo pants and a chain? What a shocker! It’s like her signature outfit or something. But her poor voice! She pretty much killed the song — she sounds so exhausted and maxed out, you know? I hope she gets to rest her voice before the tour starts… for the sake of the people in the audience. Totally random but Jasmine reminds me of my friend Robyn. I noticed it before but it really hit me tonight while I was watching her perform. There’s just something really similar in the way Jasmine pulls her hair back with her hand that is *so* like Robyn’s mannerisms. It’s uncanny, really.

— Like Tamyra. Didn’t like her version of The Star Spangled Banner. I think I cringed a few times.

— Kelly!!! The only reason why I tuned in to the finale. omgilovehersomuch. Hee! Plus, she shares my name, which makes her that much more awesome in my book. 😀 I loved hearing her sing Impossible Dream with Fantasia, Diana and Ruben — except I wasn’t crazy about that studded Victoria’s Secret-like bra she was wearing. Eek. And then she just blew me away when she sang Beautiful Disaster. Mmm. That’s one of my favorite songs on her album. Which is great, by the way. You should all buy it. Or I can upload it if anyone wants it. Just trying to spread the Kelly love.

— The guys in white pants during the Top 12 group sing — that was not cool. Especially Matt Rogers in white pants. Just… no. Aside from that, the group number was pure cheesy fun. Huh. I totally forgot about that Leah girl.

— I think Ruben’s great but that song he sang (I think it’s called What If) was incredibly awful. How he kept a straight face while singing is beyond me. I mean, “What if I was slim? What if I didn’t win?” Did he write that?

— Still mad at Simon for his comment last night about Fantasia being the best contestant they’ve ever had in the competition. Kelly all the way! 😀

It was at this point that I got bored with the finale — so I’m just going to get to the winner…

Fantasia won. I knew it.

I was actually rooting for Diana (I even voted for her a few times last night — I’m a dork!) but I’m happy for both of them. But I’m even happier that this season is over! I still haven’t loved a season as much as the first or a contestant as much as Kelly so — here’s to season 4!

24 season finale

Loved the 24 season finale. Would say more but my head hurts and I’m fighting to stay awake just to watch Dan Radcliffe (aka Harry Potter) on Conan. Shut up. He’s adorable!

I will say this though… No 24 until January?!? Guh. FOX kills me.

Oh! Thanks everyone for the awesome comments on the layout. *mwah* 😀

smvl/angel

Wednesday night TV tired me out. My ramblings here (beware of Smallville, Angel, American Idol spoilers)…

Smallville
Probably the best season finale of this show’s 3 seasons. The opera montage at the end was fantastic. It’s weird seeing Lionel without his signature hair, though. But — Chloe! Nooooo!!! 🙁 She’s not one of the main leads of the show so I’m worried. *bites nails* And as a closeted Lex/Lana shipper, I loved their airport goodbye scene. MR and KK seem really comfortable together which comes across in their scenes as Lex and Lana. I can buy that they’ve become good friends. As for Clark and Lex, I can’t say I’m torn up about the fall of their friendship (though they are my favorite ‘ship) because they really haven’t been acting like friends all season long. Also, Kara? Not a good actress.

Angel
*sigh* I haven’t watched Angel regularly in a long time but I really wanted to see how the show would end. My initial reaction is that the episode was really rather depressing. I mean, the open ending? Just left me incredibly dissatisfied. Plus, by the time the end rolled around, I was already sad about Wes’s death. Guh. I loved Wes.

American Idol
So… a Diana/Fantasia showdown, huh? Meh.

tuesday TV craziness

OMG. Tuesday night TV was craaazzzyyy. My head is still spinning.

American Idol
*snooze* Seriously. I don’t particularly like any of the remaining contestants but if I had to choose, I’d pick LaToya and Diana as the final two. I can’t stand Fantasia (there’s just something about her that really grates on my nerves) and the only thing Jasmine has been good at is being consistently bad. I miss George Huff. *sniff*

One Tree Hill
OH. MY. GAWD. Can’t really form coherent thoughts so just some quick comments/observations…
— The flashback action in the beginning was really annoying. Gah.
— Lucas and Nathan are *so* my new OTP. Heh. Loved all of their scenes together. They’ve come so far since the pilot. And Lucas called Nathan “little brother.” Aww.
— Not enough Peyton.
— Is Brooke really not holding a grudge anymore? I say she still is. I just can’t believe she’d get over her anger *that* quickly.
— Please please Nikki be gone.
— Scared Haley is a cute Haley.
— What in the world is wrong with Whitey? Not just eye surgery, hmm?
— Keith and Deb did WHAT?
— Dan had a… WHAT?
— Nathan and Haley got WHAT?!?
*dies*

Got my Friends finale DVD! It was only $6.99 at Best Buy — score! Can’t wait to check out the extended scenes…
