smush

Rob and I have been dog-sitting his brother and sister-in-law’s maltese named Smush. OMG, he is the cutest thing EVER. He’s been with us since last Saturday and he totally makes me want a dog. 🙁 Too bad our apartment won’t let us have dogs. (Shh!!! Don’t tell anyone we’re harboring a fugitive, hehe). A couple of cute pics:

And then a pic of Smush after he’s been running around the apartment like a maniac:

AWWWW.

more paris

Ok, so the answer to the “Guess the Truth” meme below is #2. 😀

Yes, I did audition for a dancing role in the movie Toys. It was when I was in elementary school and I was training at a ballet school in Santa Monica. We used to get information about casting calls all the time and I happened to go to this one. I was so excited because I got to miss a day of school and everything! I also got paid just for auditioning. A measly $10 and, of course, with taxes taken out, I think I ended up with $5. Heh. Sadly, I did not get a role but I did get to meet Barry Levinson. That was cool.

As for the other lies…
I was actually a Mass Communications major in college.
I was born in California.
I am an only child.
My favorite Harry Potter book is Goblet of Fire.
I have not vacationed in Greece. But I want to!!! Someday.

Speaking of trips, I am SO INCREDIBLY excited for my vacation to Paris. Not even the thought of getting to the airport hours ahead of time and being extra careful not to pack liquids in my carry-on can get me down. 😀 Rob and I are leaving on 10/12 (the day after my birthday!) and come back on 10/20, so we’ll have 7 full days there. (Or well, I guess you could say 6 days since that first day we probably won’t have too much energy what with the jet lag and all). I spent a good portion of the weekend checking out the forums on Fodors and Trip Advisor to get information on things to see, costs, transportation, weather, etc. I visited Paris in 1997 for a short amount of time (my family did one of those whirlwind tours where you see 7 cities in 3 weeks) so all I’ve seen up close is the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Catacombs and Versailles. Can’t wait to see other sites I missed, especially the Musee D’Orsay. The Degas pieces are calling me!

Off to do more research. 🙂

no cable

No jury duty. WOOT. I’m safe for another year.

BUT. I also have some bad news. We no longer have cable in our apartment.

I KNOW.

Our contract with Comcast was up so they raised the monthly rate to something completely ridiculous so we cancelled the service. Waaahhh. I can’t even watch the basic networks cause the reception is so awful. We better get this fixed before the fall TV season starts. (I obviously have my priorities straight). 😉

I guess I’ll finally be able to catch up on the last few season finales that I still have saved on the Tivo (OC, Smallville, Desperate Housewives). Heh.

jury duty

Argh, the dreaded day is almost here. On Sunday I have to call in for… jury duty.

ACK. I am SO not looking to calling in. I hope, hope, hope that I don’t have to report to court. I’d actually rather be at work.

Speaking of work, this is a handy site if you’re trying to disguise your internet activities from your boss. Hehehe.

Watched Hitch tonight and really, really liked it. I’m *such* a romantic comedy kind of girl. 😀 Plus, Will Smith is awesome.

So I never blogged about my cousin’s wedding last weekend. Despite the heat (I can’t get over how HOT it is in SoCal — I don’t remember it being that hot in high school?!!), I had a great time. I was in the wedding party as a secondary sponsor. I got to walk down the aisle and everything! I think this might be a filipino tradition but there’s a part in the middle of the ceremony where there are 4 additional wedding rites — coin, cord, veil, and candle. I was asked to do the veil. I carried a huge veil down the aisle and after my cousin and his wife exchanged vows and rings, the priest called my partner and I up to the altar and we had to pin the veil on both the bride and groom as a symbol of their unity. It’s a really pretty part of the ceremony.

The reception was at the Marina Hotel in San Pedro. It’s right on the water so it was absolutely gorgeous. Some pics…

The last one is of Rob, me, my favoritest cousin ever Riz (it was her brother who got married — she was a bridesmaid) and her boyfriend Josh. 😀

moving sucks

I absolutely HAVE to see John Tucker Must Die. Hehe.

So. Rob and I just got our official notice to move out of our apartment in 120 days. The owner has decided to convert all the apartments (5 buildings) into condos. They started issuing notices last September but we haven’t been thinking about it much since 120 days is more than enough time to find a place and move. But now that it’s here… BLAH. We thought we might be ready to move back to LA by this time but I don’t think that’s going to happen just yet. 2007 seems more likely.

Just thinking about moving causes me stress. Packing, lugging boxes around, unpacking… GUH. I’m hoping we can get the move done in September. Before we go on vacation in October (*crosses fingers*).

congrats shirls

OK. So I was about to go to bed after typing out my last entry and then I went through my comments and found out that my old college roommate Shirley is ENGAGED. CONGRATULATIONS!!! 😀 I am so happy for you. I’m sorry I’ve been a slacker friend. We need to catch up soon.

weekend

Aaaahhh, just got back from a long weekend in LA for my cousin’s wedding. It was so HOT down there! EEEK. It made me so irritable… despite that, though, I had a really great (but busy!) time. I’ll put together a longer post and upload some pics tomorrow. Hopefully. I feel totally beat from the weekend. All I want to do is go to sleep…

rings and things

Lately Rob and I have been having conversations about rings… engagement rings. He wanted to get some ideas of the type of ring I’d like. (Eeeeeeee!!!! *hyperventilates*) So OF COURSE, I hop over to the Tiffany website to take a look. (Now, I don’t want a ring from Tiffany & Co — I’d rather have a really nice ring than have Rob pay for the brand name, you know? But hey, a girl can dream. That darn robin’s blue box has such an effect on me).

I LOVE this ring…

GUH. So beautiful. I always thought I’d want a round cut diamond but this square cut seriously makes me weak in the knees. I love the smoothness of the band and especially the way the ring looks from the side. Such a pretty detail. I can’t stop looking at it. It’s mesmerizing. So elegant, simple and modern.

But this is the ring I always imagined in my head when I thought about getting engaged…

Round cut diamond in the center with smaller round channel set diamonds on the side… *swoons* This one’s a classic. But I don’t know which style I like more! Decisions, decisions.

I’m going to check out BlueNile and Tacori — does anyone else have any site recs? Or maybe pictures of rings I can drool over?

PS – Carmen/Robyn, take note. Hee. 😀

heat wave

I’m around. Just being absolutely lazy about blogging. I think it’s the heat wave. It’s seriously killing me. I don’t know what I’m going to do this weekend when I have to go down to LA for my cousin’s wedding. I can’t imagine the weather being any hotter than right now.

Speaking of things that are hot, check out this preview of Justin Timberlake’s new video. WHOA. That’s hot.
