30 Days of TV Meme: Day 15

Day 15 – Favorite female character
Another easy one…

BUFFY! aka The Vampire Slayer.

She’s just a girl who happens to be the “Chosen One.” Despite her extraordinary strength and skill, she’s still completely relatable. She goes to school, has friends, falls in love — all while questioning her destiny, struggling with the responsibility of her powers, and at times, wishing she could go back to being “normal.”

The definitive Buffy moment for me comes in the season 5 finale when she gives her own life to protect her family and friends…

“Dawn, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will *always* love you. But this is the work that I have to do. Tell Giles… tell Giles I figured it out. And I’m okay. And give my love to my friends. You have to take care of them now. You have to take care of each other. You have to be strong. Dawn, the hardest thing in this world… is to live in it. Be brave. Live. For me.”
– Episode 522, The Gift

*sniff* This scene always has me in tears.

ruben and clay

Yay for Ruben! 🙂 I have no preference between Clay and Ruben — I think they’re both amazing — but I honestly thought Clay was going to win. Don’t know why I believed that — though I *think* I read somewhere that Clay’s single is #1 on Amazon.com. I guess I just assumed that that sealed the deal. I hear they’re both releasing albums at the same time so it doesn’t really matter. I think the record contract in itself is more important than the competition.

As for the Buffy series finale, it was amazing. I was so happy to see the Scoobies working together again — just like old times. I had a huge smile on my face during their scene in the hallway — “the Earth is definitely doomed.” And I especially loved that Buffy finally got to become a “normal girl” at the end. Wow, so it really is the end. Another obsession — gone. I wasn’t involved in the fandom of BtVS like I was with Dawson’s Creek but it entertained and inspired me week after week, much like a really good friend. And I’m sad to see it end.

A Buffy/Angel exchange from the finale that I love:
“It’s different. He’s different. He has a soul now.”
“Ah. Well.”
“What?”
“That’s great. (mumbles) Everybody’s got a soul now.”
“He’ll make a difference!”
“Yeah, well, I started it. The whole having a soul. Before it was all the cool new thing.”
“Oh my God, are you twelve?”
“I’m getting the brush-off for Captain Peroxide. It doesn’t necessarily bring out the champion in me.”
“You’re not getting the brush-off! Are you just gonna come here and go all Dawson on me every time I have a boyfriend?”

Hee. I love the Dawson reference. Funn-ay stuff.

too much good tv

Well, what do you know?! My guestbook dies. I don’t want to bother with it so I leave it alone. And weeks later, it magically works again. Very cool. 🙂

Is it just me or is anyone else not feeling anything for the current American Idol contestants?

Last season, I was all about Kelly — she captured me the week when she sang “Natural Woman” (I think it was the 2nd or 3rd week of the top ten part of the show) and ever since then, I’ve loved her. I got all fangirly obsessed by downloading her old demo singles and videos of her performances. But this season, there has been no one that I adore like that. Sure, I like Clay, Ruben, and Kim Locke — but none of them capture me so much that I seek out more information on them, you know? Anyway…

Yay for Buffy! And Smallville! And Gilmore Girls!

Though I have to say that I was kinda half-watching SMVL — and of course, what happens? I miss the Clark ass shot! But I think I saw enough of it in the promos, lol. Well, there’s always the rerun on Sunday. 😉

And let’s see… I’m going to attempt to use the extended entry feature here so I can talk about Buffy and Dawson’s Creek without giving anything away to the spoiler-free… be warned though, there are some DC finale spoilers…

buffy marathon

I finally bought the Buffy season 3 DVDs. *happy sigh*

And I spent a good part of today watching the first 8 episodes. I had forgotten how much I love this season — Faith rocks, Xander/Cordy rock, Spike’s return in “Lover’s Walk” rocks, and the Mayor is quite possibly my most favorite Big Bad of the entire series.

no more buffy

What in the world am I going to do with myself next year? First, it was the Countdown to Goodbye for Dawson’s Creek and now it’s bye bye Buffy too! My two most favorite shows… *sniff*

non-bloggy mood

Haven’t been in a real bloggy mood lately. Blah blah and more blah.

Did manage to catch the season premiere of American Idol — that was good stuff. I know it’s mean but I can’t help but find it amusing that people with horrible singing voices really believe that they have what it takes to be a pop star. Like that one guy Eddie (I think that’s his name) who wouldn’t believe that he had been cut. They had to escort the poor guy out of the audition room because he wouldn’t leave! omg, he was totally delusional. hee.

I finally caught the latest episode of BtVS!

* spoilers for Potential ahead*

Thank God Dawn is not a potential. I was ready to turn off the TV or something. And I have to say that the SiTs are all horrible — none of them can act at all! Aagghhh. But seeing Clem made watching the episode worthwhile. hee. Clem’s awesome.

* end spoilers *

Yay for more American Idol tomorrow. Something to look forward to.

help me, i can’t sleep!

Oh dear, it’s 5am and I haven’t gone to bed yet. I tried, I really did — but I couldn’t fall asleep. In my state of unemployment, my sleeping schedule has once again gone haywire. But my long night hasn’t been in vain cause I’ve been reading spoilers — and I happened upon some very exciting news for Dawson’s Creek (what? it’s still my favorite show!). I knew there was some reason why I’m still sticking around after all these years.

Buffy season 3 DVDs today! whee! Now if I only had a job so I could AFFORD them right now. Blah. Speaking of TV shows on DVD, Dawson’s Creek season 1 is coming out on DVD on April 1, which I’m really excited about. Season 1 was classic — the Pacey and Tamara storyline, spunky Joey, and the short-lived romance of Dawson and Jen. *sigh* Such great memories. I just hope they make it through all the seasons. I especially want seasons 3 and 4: the P/Jo years. 🙂

Hmm… can anyone tell me what people want to see in a “girl” or “about me” section of a site? I want to revamp mine but I can’t come up with anything remotely interesting. HELP me!

Now let’s see if I can actually fall asleep.

dc dc dc

Ah, so much good TV — I enjoyed BtVS and all the Spikey goodness. I already love James Marsters so this episode really cemented my fan looove for him. Spike’s ending scene was fantastic — great acting (the hurt, the angst, the confusion — all there) by JM and the dark atmosphere and the crucifixion imagery was really powerful. *sigh* My favorite part was the look that Spike and Xander shared when Nancy asked if anyone there had not slept together. Hee! I have great hope for this season.

As for Smallville — it was another ooohhkay episode. After Vortex, this episode was totally out of place. Granted, it was supposed to take place 3 months after last week’s episode but the timing just seemed jarring. I mean, we went from dealing with natural disaster and potential loss to an episode that was about lust, passion and sex. Loved all the Chloe/Lana scenes (girl power!) though — I’m glad that the writers aren’t going the way of Dawson’s Creek and are actually letting the girls have a real friendship. Next week’s episode looks promising — Pete might be in more than 2 minutes of the episode! Truly shocking.

2 hour season premiere of Dawson’s Creek tomorrow! I’ve got my blank tape ready and waiting, lol. I’m actually looking forward to it despite promos and pictures like this. Agh. What a painful image.

But to celebrate my DC love, I have a new domain — Creek Daze. Yay! There’s still a coming soon image but it will soon house the general DC site for the Dawson’s Creek Network. For now though, it has my very own scan site — Fields of Gold. 🙂 Please visit and let me know what you think!

season openers rock

Just got done watching 3 hours of TV — hee, I’m so giddy! (Why yes, I realize that I am a bum).

I really enjoyed the season premiere of BtVS — it laid the foundation for the rest of the season without being too heavy-handed and serious. It was funny and light-hearted (“Is there anything you don’t know everything about?” “Synchronized swimming. It’s a mystery to me.” — hee!), which is just what I wanted after what I found to be a dark Season 6. I didn’t like the foreshadowing for Dawn: The Vampire Slayer — blah. I also found Anya’s scene to be kind of tacked on, like an afterthought or something. Not too sure how I feel about insaneSpike yet. And I love that they’re back at the high school but did anyone else think that it was really bright? Weird. But damn, the last 5 minutes just floored me. It was really chilling to see Warren, Glory, Adam, Dru, the Mayor, the Master and finally Buffy herself — “It’s not about right. It’s not about wrong. It’s about power.” Just, wow.
Oh, and the new principal — yuuumm. 😛 And please, more Giles. Thanks.

The Smallville premiere was… ok. I liked all the Clark/Lex scenes — but for purely superficial reasons. 😛 Seriously though, the only character I really cared about was Lex — I love angsty Lex. Oh, and Chloe rocked too — I found her tears to be extremely realistic. I normally like Lana too but tonight she was kind of… eh. But maybe my opinion on the show is slightly biased because I miss Whitney. 🙁 Bring him back!

I also watched The Real Word: Las Vegas — what can I say? I like to torture myself. But really, what the heck is wrong with these people? It’s the second episode (and the 4th day according to them) and already there’s a threesome going on. My head hurts.

Gah, it’s getting late — I guess I have to watch my tape of Gilmore Girls tomorrow — who in the world decided to make my life so difficult by placing GG against BtVS? Grr.
