life changes

I haven’t mentioned it here because then it would be real. But yesterday I told my boss so it’s as real as it’s going to get…

Rob and I have decided to move back to Southern CA at the beginning of 2009 (we’re aiming for the end of January). It’s something we’ve talked about for years but were never quite ready to make the leap. Now that we’re married and want to put down roots it makes sense to do so closer to our families.

I’m excited for the fresh start but scared at the same time… leaving a place I’ve made my home for the past 10 years. Leaving my friends. Looking for a new job (ugh).

But those of you who know me well can probably guess that the thing I am most freaked out about is DRIVING. Seriously, it’s like my personal kryptonite. And there’s no way around it in Southern CA. I keep telling myself that I need to get over it but I just know it’s going to be easier said than done. What is wrong with me?! Wish me luck. I’m definitely going to need it.

Random. I read about Britney Spears’s concert tour next year and it was the weirdest thing to look for Southern CA tour dates. Anyone interested? 😛 I may have to drag Rob again.

I just downloaded Britney’s new single Womanizer from iTunes. It’s #1 right now. YAYAYAY.

It’s almost birthday time! AND I have a 3-day weekend to celebrate (thank you Christopher Columbus). I just have to get through the next few days of work…

Speaking of birthdays, Disney is offering guests free admission to Disneyland or Walt Disney World on their birthday in 2009. You have to register here. WOOT. I AM SO THERE. I’m totally going to have a Disney-themed 30th birthday next year. (Maybe).

OH! Before I forget… to answer the questions from the previous entry — Robyn, you win the award for most photobooth pics. You were in there a whopping 12 times! Rob, Uly, and I tied for second with 9. And Grantland was next with 6. 🙂

YAYAYAY. Our FABULOUS wedding photographers posted a slideshow of some of our wedding photos on their blog… if you have a few minutes, check it out here. I have watched it so many times, it’s ridiculous. It also reminds me that once I get the digital proofs in my grubby little hands, I want to do a kind of “look back” series of blog entries as a way to share the details with all of you and also for me to relive the day all over again (humor me). 😀

But first! I don’t think I ever mentioned one of THE BEST things we had at our wedding reception — a photobooth. It’s kind of a “trend” at weddings nowadays and at first I didn’t think we could afford it but Rob really wanted it… and since it was really the only thing he had an opinion on, we made it work. And I’m so glad we did. It was SO FUN — the booth takes 4 pictures and prints out 2 copies… so we asked that guests keep 1 copy for themselves and then insert the other into an album and write us a quick little note. It was a hit! We have such an amazing memento that was put together for us by our guests.

I have to thank Cheesy Photobooths for being so awesome to work with. They answered all my logistical questions quickly and offered their design services for the custom banner (I ended up making it myself). And the attendant on the day of our wedding totally ROCKED. We had some… uh, rowdy (read: drunk) guests and when the booth tipped over TWICE, he quickly fixed it and Rob and I were none the wiser. I HIGHLY recommend them.

In other news, I listened to Britney’s new single Womanizer on BritneySpears.com. I pretty much love it. YAY.

good stuff in october

Work is still sucking (too many deadlines this month!) but I have to focus on the positive and there’s actually good stuff for me to look forward to…

1. 3-day weekend. Thank goodness for Columbus Day! Though I think I’ll probably be doing a little work from home anyway. There’s too many things going on that I really can’t afford to be swamped when I get back to the office on Tuesday.

2. My birthday is on Thursday! WOOT. The big 2-8. Damn, I’m old. :/ I told Rob I want cupcakes from Tea Cake Bakeshop. Hopefully he remembers. Mmmm. I’m salivating just thinking about it.

3. My cousin is visiting for my birthday. And I’m taking next Friday off of work so we can hang out in the city. I’m dragging her to a couple of bridal salons. Hey, she’s my Maid of Honor! She has to help me with wedding stuff! I’m sure she’s looking forward to that, hehehe.

In other news, I have decided to take up scrapbooking. I have no idea where the heck the inclination came from but there you go. I even went out and bought some patterned paper, cardstock, stickers, and a paper trimmer today. I honestly don’t have a creative/artistic bone in my body so this is going to be interesting. 😀

I just downloaded Britney’s single from iTunes. I didn’t like it when I first heard it but it’s totally grown on me. You should download it too!

An entry in list form because I’m feeling random…

1. I’ve been thinking about getting a new laptop. And because Apple’s advertising is so damn effective and their products are aesthetically pleasing, I want to try the MacBook. But I’m a little worried about the transition from a PC to a Mac. Anyone have any tips? I probably won’t even be able to take the plunge until after the wedding (when I’ll have money) but hey, it doesn’t hurt to do some wishful thinking. 😛

2. I recently found the Candy Blog. BEST. BLOG. EVER. Right now I’m actually going through the archives and *drooling* over all the yummy candy.

3. I’ve become addicted to paper crafts and rubber stamping. I have no clue how this came about. All I know is that I’m at Paper Source or Michaels about once a week to feed my obsession. I’m even taking a rubber stamping class next Sunday. I guess it’s about time I took up a hobby other than watching TV all the time. Heh. 😀

4. Now I’m watching the MTV Video Music Awards…

5. Just finished Britney’s performance. Hmm. She seemed incredibly nervous and uncomfortable. 🙁 Which makes me sad cause I’m really rooting for her. (What can I say — I’m a huge fan and apologist). She looked great, though. I think I’m neutral on the song… didn’t love it but didn’t hate it, either.

6. I hate the style of this year’s VMAs. What’s with all the different “suites/parties?” They made the whole show so disjointed. Plus, I watch the VMAs for all the performances and I hated how they only showed pieces of them. Blah.

7. Sarah Silverman was awful. And I hated her jokes about Britney’s kids. 🙁

8. Performances I enjoyed… Linkin Park, Alicia Keys, Timbaland/Justin/Nelly Furtado. But my favorite was Chris Brown! I know. He can’t act (see: The OC) but he sure can dance.

9. Poor Vanessa Hudgens (of High School Musical fame) is having a horrible, horrible week. 🙁 Her nude photos get leaked on the internet and now there’s talk of her being replaced in the next HSM movie. I hope not — I love her! I know Disney is known for their knee-jerk reactions but I hope they just chalk this up to her being young and stupid.

Grrr. I wish we had Showtime. I *so* want to see The Tudors. I mean, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Henry Cavill, and Callum Blue! GUH. If anyone’s interested, there’s an extended promo/trailer here.

Oh, Britney. What is going on with her? Shaving her head, hitting an SUV with an umbrella outside of K-Fed’s residence, entering her 3rd rehab facility… ??? OMG. I’ve always been a fan but seriously, this is too much. Get a grip, girl.

So tonight was the series finale of The OC. The episode is saved on the Tivo but I haven’t watched it yet. If I do, the show will really be over! I hate it when shows end. 🙁

In other good news of the day, I got tickets to see Justin Timberlake in San Jose!!! I’ll be sitting in the Upper Level but whatever. If I had known tickets went on sale last Friday, I would have been ON IT. Oh well, it’s JUSTIN. And that’s all I care about. 😀

So I’ve finally decided to let go of the fanlistings I run. I’ve been thinking about this forever and I’m just not interested in running them anymore. 1. WTF?!? There are so many things wrong with this outfit. First of all, the skirt? It’s falling off. Then it looks like Britney can’t be bothered to wear the camisole properly. It’s all bunched up on one side and her breast isn’t even in the proper part of the top. Gah. But the worst is that she’s BAREFOOT. Blech.
2. EEEK. It’s like she got dressed in the dark.

Book Challenge update…

12. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, 336p
I enjoyed this book but there were a couple of things that bothered me while reading… first, time seemed to move excruciatingly slow. There were pages and pages describing multiple events and it seemed as if weeks had gone by. Then all of a sudden the author would reference time and it turns out only a day had passed. Very minor but it was really jarring for me. My second issue was the way Lily and Zack were allowed to interact. I mean, it was the 60s and if I remember my history lessons correctly, black boys couldn’t even so much as *look* at a white girl for fear of inciting anger from the community. So I thought it was a bit unrealistic to have Lily and Zack working as a team and making trips downtown to do errands. Wouldn’t that have caused a stir? Regardless, I’d still recommend this book — I ended it feeling very hopeful and optimistic for Lily and her journey.

Wow, March was a pretty bad month for me as I only read 1 book! Eeek.

Just some random news that amused me…
It looks like Cookie Monster, my favorite Sesame Street character EVER, is going… healthy??? It seems like they’re going to make him eat fruits and vegetables and cut back on the cookies. !!! Hehehe.

OMG. I consider myself a Britney fan but I don’t know if I would be able to stomach watching this. I can’t stand that awful, awful Kevin Federline. What were they thinking by signing on for a reality show? They’re definitely NOT Nick and Jessica.
