tired as hell

Work has seriously been kicking my butt.

My boss was in town these past few days (she’s a West Coast Manager so she divides her time between LA and SF) so she’s been piling project after project on my desk. I’m not really complaining — it’s nice to be busy but… geesh. Ever since Wednesday morning, when she walked in the door, I’ve had this horrible knot in the back of my neck. And throughout the day, it progressively becomes a full-on headache. Not the most pleasant feeling while you’re trying to do lots of things at once. Boo.

eh

I had a pretty “eh” type of weekend. Dad came to visit, went shopping… nothing exciting. And I didn’t have a three-day weekend like everyone else. I had to go to work. And I did absolutely nothing because no one else was at work. Boo.

Went to see Daredevil on Friday — I don’t know anything about the comics really but nevertheless, I totally hyped up the movie in my head. It’s the Ben love, I have to admit. And while I thought he did a great job, there was just something so extremely cheesy about the movie. The fights were seriously only seconds long and the ending came to a resolution so quickly. It felt like whiplash. It just ended without really showing us how the characters came to the conclusions they did. However, I did love that Daredevil isn’t shown as a great superhero. He’s human — and his emotions and his actions reflect conflict rather than being all about the good. I liked that. Jennifer Garner and Jon Favreau rocked also.

first official day

Wow, I’m so tired. Today was my first official day of work.

I had training for a few days last week but today was my first day on my own. The girl that I replaced had already gone to start her new job. And the senior staff were all on sales calls in LOS ANGELES! So I was alone in the office by myself. All. Alone. A bit scary, really.

It wasn’t too bad though — I had a list of things to do so I wasn’t bored. Just really tired. In my month of rest, I had forgotten how it felt to be at work at 8am. Yuck.

clear channel

Aww, thanks for the congrats everyone! *blushes*

I’m really really happy to be working (and making money!) again. It’s been a whole month since my last day at my old job and sitting at home every day just doesn’t have the same novelty now that it did back in late December. Watching old videos and sleeping late, as unbelievable as it may sound, got a bit tired.

So… for the past 3 weeks, I’ve been searching job listings and writing cover letters like a madwoman because the thought of having no money to pay for rent(!) started to freak me out a little. BUT I didn’t want to settle for any old job, you know? I mean, that was the very reason why I quit my last one — I was sick of the work that wasn’t going anywhere in an industry that I had no desire to pursue a career in. So I told myself to take as long as I needed to find a job that I was happy with — can you imagine how psyched I was that it only took me a month? :)

Anyway, I’m going to be working at Clear Channel Communications as an assistant in their advertising department — I’m very excited! I really finally feel, for the first time since graduating from college, that I’m on a real career path and it feels really good. :)

Sorry for being all schmoopy but I’m just so excited.

OMG!!! Did anyone see the promo for next week’s episode of Dawson’s Creek? It made me all sad — the announcer said something like “Countdown to Goodbye — 10 all new episodes — The End of an Era.” Waaah! I’ve watched DC since Jan 98 and as dumb as it may sound, it helped me get through my college years. It was like a really good friend that I could count on every week. Or something like that. I know that the quality of the show has steadily declined since the first season and it should end before it gets any worse but I’m still really gonna miss it.

i’m in pain

oh my goodness, I’m in so much pain right now. But it’s the good pain. The kind of pain you feel after a really good workout. Yes, that’s right. I got back a few hours ago from taking a tahitian dance class in San Francisco and AAHHHH, my legs and my hips are sooo sore. A friend of mine from college who lives in Hawaii is here in the Bay Area for the holidays and she really wanted to check out the dance classes here so that’s how I found myself swaying my hips to drum beats for 2 hours. 2 hours! It was pretty intense but so much fun — I’d love to do it again.

Oh, and thanks to Alie for reminding me that I should have posted a link for anyone who wants to read the aforementioned DC spoilers — here it is. The general DC spoiler thread has all the info you need in the very first post. :)

randomness

Something I forgot to include in my list of New Year’s Resolutions is getting my DRIVER’S LICENSE! lol. If there’s a single most important resolution, it is most definitely that one. I think I have a complex — I get a bit scared and paranoid when I’m behind the wheel. Not a good thing. But I am determined. Oh yes, I am.

When I went back home for the Christmas holiday, I found out that a friend of mine from high school had gotten married a year ago and that another friend recently proposed to his girlfriend. It’s all so shocking — I mean, it seems too soon to settle down. We’re only 23 for goodness sakes! But maybe that’s just me — cause I definitely am not ready for such a huge step.

I must be so bored cause I spent a good part of the day fixing up my fanlisting pages — I even made buttons for some that didn’t have 100×50 codes! It should be a requirement to have 100×50 buttons available on your fanlisting. Ugh, I need to get out of my apartment. :P

happy new year

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

May everyone have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2003. :) I’ve never really been into the whole New Year’s Resolution thing — mostly because I never had the willpower to actually follow through with any of them, lol. But I do love the idea of a fresh, new start so –

Kelly’s Resolutions for 2003 (in no particular order):

1. sit down and actually study for the GRE just in case I decide that I actually want to go to graduate school

2. start taking ballet lessons again — Can you believe that when I was 14, I believed that I was going to be a professional ballerina? I was so serious about it — but then high school came along and I realized that there were other things in life besides dancing. I really miss it though.

3. find a job that I actually like and enjoy doing
That seems pretty realistic, right? We’ll see how it goes. ;)

Wowzers, I really have to get used to this flat screen on my new computer — the standard resolution on it is 1600×1200(!). I’m using 1280×1024 to make things just a bit bigger but geesh, everything still looks tiny. My site takes up little more than half the screen. Weird.

So I guess you can tell that I’m staying in for New Year’s Eve– no big party for me. I’ll probably just be watching TV. hee.

Plugs for Cat and Ji — thanks for the new year’s well wishes! mwah!

so long to christmas

Oh my gosh! It was such a nice surprise to come home and see all the holiday emails and fansigns. ::sniff:: Thanks to Linda, Rachel, Elisha, Angie, Glory, Sam, Jessica, Tina, Brianna, and Sofie! You girls are so awesome. I will definitely put up the signs asap.

I got my new computer! :) I arrived in northern CA last night and it was here waiting for me. ::sigh:: I am in love with it. It’s so sparkly and new and just so much better than my current computer. I still have to install some programs (PhotoShop!) and transfer files — but eeeh! So excited. :P I even watched some episodes of Felicity on the fun CD/DVD-ROM because I CAN. mwahahaha. I know, I know — i’m such a big nerd. hee.

Well, I had an amazing Christmas — got lots of fun presents (a new comforter and sheet set, pj’s, sweatshirts, a purse, and a brand-spanking new watch), I saw Two Weeks Notice and Catch Me If You Can (both great movies — yummy Hugh and Leo!) and I got to hang out with friends I barely get to see. (Hello Robyn and Carmen!) :) I hope everyone had a great holiday as well!
