chicago

Just got back from seeing the movie Chicago — it was fabulous! I was especially amazed with Renee Zellweger. She definitely fit the role of Roxie perfectly. Eeee! I want to see it again, that’s how good it was. And I loved how all the musical numbers were incorporated into the telling of the story. I was scared that I would find myself cringing when the songs came on but to my surprise, everything flowed together very well. Plus, I had it on good authority (thanks Linda!) that the movie would not disappoint so I’m really glad that I liked it as much as I do. ok, time for bed. 🙂

happy new year

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

May everyone have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2003. 🙂 I’ve never really been into the whole New Year’s Resolution thing — mostly because I never had the willpower to actually follow through with any of them, lol. But I do love the idea of a fresh, new start so —

Kelly’s Resolutions for 2003 (in no particular order):

1. sit down and actually study for the GRE just in case I decide that I actually want to go to graduate school

2. start taking ballet lessons again — Can you believe that when I was 14, I believed that I was going to be a professional ballerina? I was so serious about it — but then high school came along and I realized that there were other things in life besides dancing. I really miss it though.

3. find a job that I actually like and enjoy doing
That seems pretty realistic, right? We’ll see how it goes. 😉

Wowzers, I really have to get used to this flat screen on my new computer — the standard resolution on it is 1600×1200(!). I’m using 1280×1024 to make things just a bit bigger but geesh, everything still looks tiny. My site takes up little more than half the screen. Weird.

So I guess you can tell that I’m staying in for New Year’s Eve– no big party for me. I’ll probably just be watching TV. hee.

Plugs for Cat and Ji — thanks for the new year’s well wishes! mwah!

so long to christmas

Oh my gosh! It was such a nice surprise to come home and see all the holiday emails and fansigns. ::sniff:: Thanks to Linda, Rachel, Elisha, Angie, Glory, Sam, Jessica, Tina, Brianna, and Sofie! You girls are so awesome. I will definitely put up the signs asap.

I got my new computer! 🙂 I arrived in northern CA last night and it was here waiting for me. ::sigh:: I am in love with it. It’s so sparkly and new and just so much better than my current computer. I still have to install some programs (PhotoShop!) and transfer files — but eeeh! So excited. 😛 I even watched some episodes of Felicity on the fun CD/DVD-ROM because I CAN. mwahahaha. I know, I know — i’m such a big nerd. hee.

Well, I had an amazing Christmas — got lots of fun presents (a new comforter and sheet set, pj’s, sweatshirts, a purse, and a brand-spanking new watch), I saw Two Weeks Notice and Catch Me If You Can (both great movies — yummy Hugh and Leo!) and I got to hang out with friends I barely get to see. (Hello Robyn and Carmen!) 🙂 I hope everyone had a great holiday as well!

happy holidays

I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays! 🙂 I’m at home in southern CA right now on my dad’s super slow computer — it’s driving me crazy! I can’t surf the net like I’m used to, lol. I haven’t been blogging because last weekend I was so busy trying to finish my Christmas shopping before my flight home. Anyway, I’m going back to northern CA this Saturday so I’ll be able to blog properly and answer email then. And maybe my new laptop will be there waiting for me — whee!

two towers

I just got back from seeing The Two Towers — it was really awesome. I’m just sooo tired now. I knew I shouldn’t have agreed to watch the 10:00 showing. It’s close to 1:30am and I have to wake up in 5 hours! *yawn* Will blog more later.

eeeee!!!!

I just bought a new computer! Dell Inspiron 8200 – 2.0ghz, 512mb sdram, 15″ display, 40gb hard drive, CD-RW/DVD combo drive, awesome video card… ::sigh:: I like to think of it as my Christmas present to myself. hee. I probably shouldn’t have bought it considering I will be out of work in a week (shudder!) but my dad said he’ll help me out a bit if I let him have my current computer. 🙂 It’s gonna be my first laptop too. It’s all so exciting. I want it now! But I won’t get it til the week after Christmas. Damn. 😛

christmas craze

I have just closed hosting for the time being. There are a few emails that I just got today so I’ll still take a look at those but that’s it. I’ve accepted a few hostees in the past few days which would bring up the total to 23, I think. That’s more than enough for now. I’ll put up the form again if I feel there’s a need.

Been busy lately with lots of Christmas stuff to do! The holidays really crept up on me this year — I just started writing my Christmas cards and I have a ton of shopping left to do. Blah. I went shopping yesterday even though it was pouring rain outside and I barely accomplished anything because the mall was so damn crowded. ::sigh::

I’ve also begun stressing out because next Monday is my last day of work and I still haven’t found another job. Next subject…

Oh! If anyone would like a Christmas card from me, send me an email! 🙂

capeside christmas

Finally! A new episode of Dawson’s Creek. Well, let’s just say it had my emotions flying all over the place. Happy, sad, nostalgic, angry, frustrated — that was me during the episode. I’m just going to write some random comments because, seriously, coherent thoughts escape me

1. I *hated, hated, hated* Joey’s self-involved voiceover at the beginning. That “kiddie” voice that Katie Holmes has been using this season is really grating. She sounds like a 6-year old.

2. I don’t much like Joey and Eddie as a couple but I will say that I thought it was incredibly cute when he surprised her in Capeside with the Christmas tree. Aww. Speaking of Capeside, I really miss it. The show just feels right there — with the docks and the creek shining in the background. ::sigh::

3. I can’t believe Mike Potter’s appearance during Christmas wasn’t made into a bigger storyline — I was expecting a bit more than Joey mentioning it in passing to Audrey. Last year, the writers dropped the ball when they had Joey visit her dad offscreen. I mean, that would have been a big deal for her! It was the first time she would have seen him since she sent him to jail and it took place offscreen. Gah.

4. I didn’t like Mr. Potter’s insinuations that not going to college somehow makes you less of a person. That’s just a wrong lesson to teach.

5. Yay for appearances by Bessie, Bodie, Doug, Gale and Grams! Too bad Doug was the only one who was allowed to talk.

6. I usually like Todd and his insane remarks but his version of grace was just — way out there.

7. I think I’m the only person in the world who actually liked Dawson and Natasha so I’m kinda sad to see her go. I thought she was good for Dawson *because* they weren’t in a committed relationship. They were all fun and barely any angst — which is a novelty on this show. Besides, I actually like Dawson and I don’t want to see him brooding over Joey anymore. Let the boy smile!

8. It was great to see Doug again — oh, how I’ve missed you! But really, what was up with his hair? It was awful, lol. Anyway, I can see both sides to Doug and Pacey’s argument. I think Doug has always shown that underneath the teasing, he really cares about Pacey. So I didn’t see his comments as being critical or judgmental — just honest. He’s concerned that Pacey’s letting money get the better of him. But he lost me when he said that being a chef is somehow noble. I don’t really see why that would better occupation than being a stockbroker.

9. Audrey’s rant — she hit on a lot of interesting points. Dawson and Joey never dealt with the fall out of their impending relationship. But sometimes that’s the way it is — you just have to pick up the pieces by yourself and move on. What else — oh, Dawson and Pacey may not actually have had scenes together this season but I don’t think that these two hate each other. I’d like to believe that they don’t, at least. People grow up and go their separate ways all the time. It’s a matter of circumstance. Lastly, the P/Jo bones they threw in there are really more insulting than anything else. I may be a shipper but I’m not delusional. They really don’t have an effect on me if the two characters don’t even speak a word to each other during the entire episode.

10. Poor Jen. First, Audrey humiliates her at the dinner table and then she snaps at her when she goes to check on the drunken girl. Grr.

11. Kinda liked the D/Jo scene at the end. It said it all — these two are best when they’re friends.

12. I can’t believe Pacey is going to take the heat for Audrey’s drunken mishap. She’ll never learn if she always gets handed the easy way out. Stupid Pacey.

That said, this was probably one of the better episodes this season. ::shakes head:: Ok, rant over. 😛

abandon

So I went to see Katie Holmes’s new movie Abandon on Friday — eh, I didn’t like it. At all. It’s just that the entire movie plot was given away in the trailer (I mean, did I really need to see her holding that rock in her hands?) and the pacing of the movie was just really really slow. Plus, the worst offense of the movie was that there were just so many darn plot holes — like seriously, all of the detectives who worked on the missing person’s case are all idiots. The answer was RIGHT THERE! Geesh. I guess I was mostly disappointed because I’m a huge Katie fan (like you guys didn’t know ;)) and I really wanted the movie to be good and do well in the box office — but I’ve read a ton of reviews and none of them are what you would call “glowing.” Not that I’m surprised. However, I still think she did an awesome job carrying the movie even if she did slip into “Joey” mode a few times. And I also thought she and Benjamin Bratt made a really pretty if not unusual couple.
