Yay! 🙂 It’s e-l.net’s 2nd birthday! Whee! *sprinkles confetti all around*
(Wow. I’m really not much for the blogging lately, huh? :P)

Did anyone watch Trista and Ryan’s Wedding on ABC?!? OMG. I can’t believe the wedding cost $4 million dollars! Holy crap. And it was ALL PINK. EVERYTHING. I like pink and all but geesh, she went overboard.
Anyway, I still can’t believe how close it is to Christmas! I still have so much Christmas shopping to do! *sigh* And I have to do my cards. I only have another week and a half to get all this done before I go on my mini-vacation. I don’t think I mentioned it here but my family and I are going to the Philippines and Thailand to spend the holidays with my grandma. I’m pretty excited — it’ll be nice to get away from work. 😀
Doing the Sunday Brunch because it goes along with the whole Christmas/holiday thing…
How many Christmas parties will you be attending between now and Christmas?
Just 1. I work with a small team of people so we’re going to have a Champagne Brunch at The Palace Hotel this coming Sunday.
Have you started Christmas shopping yet? If so, have you finished, or when do you expect to finish?
I’ve started but I’m definitely not finished yet. I think I’ve only gotten through a third of my list. Oy. I really wanted to avoid all the crowds that are sure to be at the mall in the next week or so. Guess not.
Who is your favorite person to shop for?
All the people on my list are difficult and time-consuming! hehe.
Have you decorated your house yet? (inside or outside)
I live in an apartment so we don’t do exterior decorations. Inside the apartment, the Christmas tree dominates the living room so that’s pretty much the scope of the interior decorations.
When did/do you put up your Christmas tree?
We put it up last Saturday. So much fun. I love trimming the tree.
Yay for short work weeks!
I only have 1 and a half more days of work and then… 4 day Thanksgiving weekend! Woohoo. I’m really looking forward to this holiday because I’m going to Las Vegas with the boyfriend! FUN. We’ll only be there for a few days but I’m just so excited to have a break from the monotony of my life. 😛
Then when we get back on Sunday, we’re going to go get our Christmas tree!!! I can’t wait to get started on the decorations. 😀 The holidays always make me so happy… EXCEPT it means no new episodes of my TV shows. Suck. First One Tree Hill and now Everwood too. *sob*
OMG! Rob is currently watching Varsity Blues. Heh. JVDB just said “I don’t want yer life.” LOVE. IT. This movie is highly entertaining.
Sadly, seeing a former Creeker, even if it is JVDB, makes me miss Dawson’s Creek. Season 2 DVDs in a few weeks! So yay for that. I’m ordering everyone who reads my blog to buy a copy so that TPTB will release Season 3. I *need* Season 3. Pacey&Joey4eva!!! *g*
Um. Yes. I’m a little hyper.
omg, everyone should see my apartment right now. It’s a disaster area. Seriously. My new roommate had to move out of his old apartment by July 1 so we have boxes and boxes and boxes of his stuff everywhere. It’s insane. In da membrane. Insane in da Brain! lol. Does anyone else remember that Cypress Hill song?
Anyway, I finally saw Finding Nemo. 🙂 That is the cutest movie. Ever. I am so going to head over to the Disney Store to buy myself a Nemo stuffed toy to add to my collection. Because I am 6. Hee.
I am craving McDonald’s breakfast food right now. I know it’s not *good* by any stretch of the imagination but there is just something about the sausage mcmuffin and hash browns that is so yummy. Oh, and pancakes. Mmmm.
Thanks to everyone for the nice comments on the layout! I really really appreciate it. And yes, the picture I used really is the US cover for OotP. 🙂
So I did it. I bought the Apple iPod (15gb, yay!). I’ve been lusting (hee) after it for quite some time so when I received an $85 coupon in the mail today from Dell, I decided I might as well put the coupon to good use. AND the Dell site was offering free shipping. I mean, with those discounts, it would have been a crime not to buy the iPod. Right?!? The only downside to ordering from Dell is that it takes about 2-3 weeks for delivery. (!!!) I seriously don’t think I can wait that long. I might break from the anticipation.
I just found out that season 1 of Smallville is being released on DVD in late September. Very very exciting — except that season 1 of Alias is coming out earlier that same month. Buying both of these DVD sets will cost me about $100. I definitely need a salary raise.
ps- Lauren, the lyrics are from John Hiatt’s Have A Little Faith In Me.
omg, the Justified/Stripped concert seriously blew me away. It was so. good. Even the boyfriend enjoyed it. He went so far as to say that Justin was entertaining. Hee, I think I’ve turned him into a Justin fan. 😛 And our seats were awesome — lower level, 15th row, right smack dab in the center.
Black Eyed Peas opened up with Joints and Jam. Eeeeee!!! <— This was me. Man, this song takes me back to my college days –when I had a crush on my current boyfriend and he would play it in the car when we would go out. *sigh* And my college roommate (Shirley! *waves*) downloaded it and played it in our room sometimes. Ah, memories. Anyway, BEP played a bunch of other songs from their upcoming album and they rocked. They were so high energy and crazy, especially Taboo. What a great way to start the concert. I didn’t even know they were the opening act so it was a total surprise to me and the boyfriend (he really likes them).
Christina was up first with Dirty. I used to hate this song (still despise the video) but after hearing it so many times on the radio, it’s grown on me. Perfect way for her to get the crowd (which was more on the older side than on the teeny-bopper side) up on their feet and dancing in their seats. Good times, good times. Most songs she performed were from Stripped — A Voice Within (powerful ballad), Infatuation (definite crowd-pleaser), Get Mine Get Yours, So Impossible, Can’t Hold Us Down (which she sang from a motorcycle), Walk Away (very sexual imagery with a hot guy gyrating in the background), and Fighter. As for her older material, she did updated versions of the most popular 3 — Genie in a Bottle (she came out on a huge “X” with fire shooting from the back –really cool), Come On Over (an acoustic version which I really really like), and What A Girl Wants. She also sang Lady Marmalade and Etta James’s At Last, which I surprisingly loved. Her encore was Beautiful, which she sang to no crazy lighting and wearing only jeans and a white T-shirt that read “God Sees No Color.” I like that she went for the simple ending rather than the typical flashy pyrotechnics that usually signal the end of the show. All in all, I thought she was great — she definitely showcased her tremendous vocal talent.
Justin started his set with Rock Your Body. Eeeee!!! He is really a great entertainer — he has what appears to be boundless energy and has a great rapport with the audience. Not to mention that he is definitely easy on the eyes. 😛 And I love him so much more now because Kelly Kono, only my most *favorite* dancer in the world (and former back-up dancer for Janet Jackson), is dancing with him. Hee. Anyway… Justin also sang Still On My Brain, Seniorita (one of my favorite tracks), Cry Me A River (no Britney look-alike, however, to my boyfriend’s dismay), Let’s Take A Ride, as well as more upbeat versions of 2 NSync ballads, Gone and Girlfriend. The highlight of his set was when he was beatboxing from a contraption that elevated him and moved him slowly from one side of the stage to the other — he beatboxed to Planet Rock!!! And It Takes Two!!! Mmm… Old school. So happy. And finally, his encore was of course, Like I Love You. Ah, I love you Justin.
Other entertainment during the concert included —
1) seeing so many young girls (probably around 11-13) wearing completely revealing clothing. I wanted to scream “It’s really *not* nice to have guys ogle your goods. In fact, it’s creepy! And you should cover up!” Gah.
2) an almost fight between a drunk guy (he hit the girl behind him when she asked him to be quiet and sit down) and some random guy who was annoyed with all his stupid antics
I snuck my camera in via the boyfriend so I may upload some pics… I don’t know if any of them will even look good but we’ll see.
What an eventful start to my weekend — Matchbox 20 tomorrow! 🙂
So I loved X2. I don’t really know anything about comic canon, though. My exposure to X-Men prior to the movies come from the Saturday morning X-Men cartoon that used to be on TV when I was in high school. I have no idea how close the cartoon was to actual comic canon — but I am familiar with the most of the characters, the relationships and the more popular story arcs, particularly the one at the end of the movie, which has me hoping for an X3. 😉 (Does anyone know if anyone from the cast has signed for a third movie?) The movie is just beautiful to watch, especially the beginning sequence with Nightcrawler. Just WOW. After that alone, I knew the movie would be better than the first. My only real disappointment is the limited roles of Cyclops (James Marsden) and Rogue (Anna Paquin). I love those two. Anyway, I *think* I’m even going to watch it again tomorrow — well, actually today since it’s 3 in the morning. Too much pent up energy, can’t sleep, hee.
Also, the previews were pretty interesting — I sorta want to see Hollywood Homicide (Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett – yowzers!) and Stuck On You (bwah! Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear in a Farrelly brothers movie? Funny stuff!). But omg, The Hulk trailer had me laughing — seriously. It’s not that the story looks bad or anything — it’s the Hulk himself! The cgi looks positively awful. I can’t take the movie seriously — it’s that bad. The Hulk doesn’t blend well with the movie at all. He sticks out like an eyesore. I think the majority of the the people in the theater were snickering at the trailer. That can’t be a good sign. Oy.
Oh dear, I *try* to stay unspoiled for Alias but my damn curiosity got the better of me. I knew the wildfeed had already aired so I went scouring for spoilers. I really wish I hadn’t done that. I just ruined the entire finale for myself! Gah. ::pounds head onto desk:: Oh well, I’m still looking forward to watching it. 🙂
Doing the Friday Five because I have absolutely nothing to blog about —
What did you have for breakfast this morning? If you didn’t have breakfast, why not? I had McDonald’s for breakfast! I’m such a sucker for their breakfast menu. I had a sausage mcmuffin, hash browns, and coffee with lots of cream and sugar. 🙂 Yuuummm… I love breakfast. I can eat breakfast foods at all times of the day and I would be happy. Mmmm.
What’s your favorite cereal? Well, my favorite sugary-y cereals are Corn Pops and Apple Jacks but if I also really love Special K with red berries even though it’s one of the more “healthy” cereals.
How often do you eat out? Do you want that to change? Rob and I eat out for dinner about 1-2 times a week. And I buy lunch a few times during the week while I’m at work. I’m trying my hardest to bring my lunch because all the food expenses really add up. But I get so lazy and forget to prepare it. Eh.
What do you plan on having for dinner tonight? Got a recipe for that? I don’t even want to think about it.
What’s your favorite restaurant? Why? Probably Macaroni Grill… I loooove pasta dishes, specifically the Pasta Milano that they serve. It’s heavenly. 😛
Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. 🙂 I really appreciate it. I didn’t really do anything to celebrate — I had a bit of a headache (typical) so Rob and I just went to dinner at The Macaroni Grill and then went to see The Rules of Attraction — it’s that new movie (with James Van Der Beek and Ian Somerhalter) based on Bret Easton Ellis’s novel. !spoiler alert! Surprisingly, I actually liked the movie — it stayed true to the book for the most part. However, I thought that the characters of Paul (Ian Somerhalter) and Lauren (Shannyn Sossamon) needed much more development than they were given. In the book, I actually sympathized with both these characters but in the movie, they both fell a bit flat. James Van Der Beek really surprised me with his acting — I’m so used to his acting on Dawson’s Creek consisting solely of flaring his nostrils to convey any type of emotion. But I have to admit, he managed to give Sean Bateman a real likability, in spite of all the horrible things he’s done. There were a lot of scenes that were really hard for me to take — like Lauren’s rape scene and the suicide scene. I seriously felt really sick to my stomach watching those scenes. But there were some funny scenes too — Paul and Dick singing to “Faith” by George Michael, and then their scene in the restaurant with their moms. Funny stuff. I know many of you have no idea what I’m talking about but I find this book (and thus, the movie) really fascinating. It’s such a poignant story of emotion unrealized in a culture of nothing else but sex and drugs.
So today is my birthday. Oh goodness, I’m 23. Excuse me while I hide.
