My blog seems to have caught a case of “Boring” these past few days…
Anyway, just wanted to wish my best friend Robyn a very Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day! 🙂

Damn. I think Scott might be sticking around another week on American Idol. Guh. My predictions for the bottom 2 this week are Vonzell and Anthony with Anthony saying farewell. But let’s hope I’m wrong.
Squee! My Dawson’s Creek season 5 DVDs arrived today from the trusty Amazon.com. Too bad s5 is my least favorite season of all. But whatever. I love shiny new DVDs. 😛
Book Challenge update…
April
13. Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Woodring Stover, 432 p
What can I say? I just wanted to find out exactly what happened before seeing the movie. Heh. It’s actually a better novelization than I expected. Is it May 19 yet?
14. The Second Assistant by Clare Naylor, Mimi Hare, 304 p
Just another chick lit book. I saw the hardcover edition on Amazon for $5 so I couldn’t resist. It’s about a girl who moves out to Hollywood to become an assistant at the top talent agency in the business. A fun read, if not a little exaggerated. Took me about 3 hours on the plane from Michigan back home.
I’m only at 14 books — crap. I have to speed it up.
Last but certainly not least, Happy happy birthday Nicola! Hope you have a great day!
The blogger’s block that I mentioned in my previous entry? It’s still around.
But I wanted to come online and wish my October buddy Sarah a very, very Happy Birthday!!! Hope you have a fabulous day.
😀
Many, many thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! It was so nice to get phone calls, emails, comments and shout-outs from you all. I still have a huge smile on my face thinking of all the sweet greetings.
I had a fantastic day and weekend, for that matter. My best friend Robyn was in town and I had a blast hanging out with her. I don’t see her that often cause she lives in Southern California so it’s always a good time when we get together, hehe. She arrived on Thursday night and we caught up on some TV — The Apprentice (we couldn’t believe Pamela was fired; it should have been Stacy), Joey (Joey performing the Shakespeare monologue followed by the cowboy dancing was hilarious), and Smallville (poor, poor Chloe but I have to say that Clark and Lois were really cute in the final scene).
We woke up early on Friday morning (pretty much unheard of for me) because Rob cooked us breakfast! Yum, I love the perks of having a guest. We then proceeded to spend the next 2 days eating (go to Swan Oyster Depot if you like fresh seafood), shopping (we hit the Haight Street and Chestnut Street shopping neighborhoods in the city), and running around trying all the exhibits at the Exploratorium (*so* fun). Phew. We woke up really early each day and stayed up late so on Sunday after Robyn left (*sniff*), I spent a good part of the day sleeping. Ahhh, it felt so good.
So today on my actual birthday I didn’t really do anything special… Rob’s car had a flat tire so we took it to the shop and while we waited for it to get fixed, we walked around at Cal. I know I spent 4 years there but I can never quite get over how gorgeous and inspiring the campus is. We took along the camera so we snapped a bunch of shots that I hope I’ll be able upload — just so that you can all see what I’m talking about. We didn’t do much else — went shopping so I could continue the search for a pair of boots (I ended up really wanting a pair of Uggs — I used to hate the trendiness of them but now I think they’re kinda cute, heh) and also so I could admire an audio system that I want for my iPod (I think Rob’s going to get it for me — squee, I’m so spoiled!). Tnen we went to dinner, had the most amazing chocolate raspberry truffle cake (I don’t even want to think about how many calories I consumed this past weekend), and even made it home to catch Everwood.
All in all, I’m so happy. I had a great few days… though I’m still in denial about turning 25. Eek.
😉
I would be able to enjoy my 4-day weekend a bit more if I wasn’t HORRIBLY SICK. I don’t get it. I’m always sick when I’m on vacation. Boo.
I spent the entire day on Friday in bed with a fever. Technically, I didn’t have the day off but I told my boss I would “work from home.” Heh. I think I checked my voicemail and email one time each and didn’t bother responding. I’m the best employee ever. I should win an award.
On Saturday, I began my Roswell marathon. I haven’t watched my season 1 DVDs in awhile and since I was stuck in bed, some mindless alien entertainment sounded great. So far, I’ve watched from the Pilot to Crazy and I guess it’s probably the medicine, but I really miss the show. Then I remember season 3 and the feeling fades. I finally watched Shiri and Majandra’s commentary on Sexual Healing and Crazy. I just love those two — they seem like really great friends. It was really funny how they kept making fun of Brendan’s spiky hair. In both episodes, they kept mentioning how Brendan would arrive on set, get his hair products ready and then proceed to take forever getting his hair just right. I find that so cute. Majandra made me laugh when they were watching a makeout scene between Max and Liz where Max has shirt off. She was quiet for a moment, then she said, “Wow. I almost forgot…” I have to agree and say that yes, Jason Behr did look pretty good in that first season. Hee. They also had some really complimentary things to say about the cast, crew and the time they spent filming the show — I’m kinda sad they’re not doing any commentary for the season 2 DVDs. Oh well. As long as I can have Viva Las Vegas in DVD quality, that’s all that matters.
Speaking of DVDs, Everwood (s1), American Dreams (s1), and Alias (s3) all come out on Tuesday. Squee! There must be some kind of conspiracy to kill my bank account. I’m definitely going to get Everwood first. I can’t wait to watch “the season of Colin” again.
I finally got my EW Fall TV Preview issue — I still have to get through it, then I’ll blog about my fall viewing schedule. Hehe. I’m such a dork.
It seems like everyone who wants a GMail account already has one but I have 7 invites available, so let me know if you want one! Just comment with your first and last name and current email address. I’ll get an invite to you asap. 🙂
And last but not least… I want to wish Alie a very happy belated birthday!
OMG, I am so glad my boss is not around today. Cause I can’t believe what I’m doing…
I’m watching an Italian live feed of the Women’s Gymnastics All Around final. !!! I just can’t stand waiting until the delayed NBC coverage. I have to know the results immediately. Hehe.
I should so be fired. But really, I think I deserve a 2 week long vacation during the Olympics because I’m such a junkie.
Happy birthday to one of my oldest friends Carmen! 🙂 Hope you’re having a great day!
Whew! What a long weekend…
I spent ALL day on Saturday looking for a dress to wear to Rob’s brother’s wedding (it’s on August 28) and after about 8 hours, 3 malls and what seems like a million dresses that I tried on, I ended up with NOTHING! So today Rob and I hit another mall and after trying on about a million MORE dresses, I finally found a really pretty pink floral dress with a flared skirt and ruffles. It sounds so girly, I just love it! I think Rob was probably more relieved than I was cause it meant he didn’t have to endure one more minute of shopping. Now I just have to find shoes and some sort of shawl… hehe.
I caught the E! True Hollywood Story on Women’s Gymnastics tonight (I think it was titled “Little Girls, Big Dreams”). The show itself wasn’t very exciting or informative but it was cool to see Shannon Miller (my all-time favorite gymnast! but uh, did she have a nose job?!), Dominique Dawes, and Dominique Moceanu talking about their careers, the pressure, and their Olympic experiences. They also showed the 6 members of the 2004 US Olympic team and my Olympics excitement has returned! Opening ceremonies on Friday! Whee! I’m such a geek.
Anyway, Happy Belated Birthday to Jill! 🙂
These past few weeks with my sites down, I’ve watched an obscene amount of TV. Seriously. I finally bought Gilmore Girls on DVD and watched the entire first season in the span of 4 days. Yes, I realize that means I watched like 5 episodes a day. Hee! I had forgotten just how great the first season was. There’s Tristan! And evil Paris! And Rory/Dean (back when they weren’t adulterers)! Good times. 😀
I’ve also been giving my Felicity DVDs a workout. I sped through season 1 last week and now I’m about 3/4 done with season 2. I’ve always preferred Felicity and Noel but during this viewing, I’ve started to warm up to the idea of Felicity and Ben. I used to think of them as kind of an unrealistic couple; one that had chemistry and sexual tension but whose personalities weren’t really compatible. But now I can see that they have a special connection and I’m torn — I love both couples! Or maybe this newfound Felicity/Ben love is just an offshoot of my Keri Russell/Scott Speedman love… I listened to their commentary (on season 2’s The List) and the two of them crack me up. They sound really comfortable with each other — they laughed at how young they look, Scott teased Keri about her short hair — but they never seemed to know what the heck was going on in the episode! Heh. Though that seemed to be the case with all the cast commentaries.
Some other commentary highlights —
Greg Grunberg, Tangi Miller, Amanda Foreman and Amy Jo Johnson (commentary on season 2’s Sophomoric) singing the s3/4 theme song. Short but really funny.
Scott Foley (commentary on season 2’s Ancient History along with Keri) doing an impersonation of Scott Speedman’s whisper.
Scott Foley and Keri reminiscing about their character’s relationship and coming to the conclusion that they never had sex. HELLO! I know they’re only actors but I can’t believe they forgot about that storyline. Humph.
Anyway. Dawson’s Creek season 4 DVDs on October 5! It’s like an early birthday present for me. 😀
Speaking of birthdays — Happy (belated) Birthday to Amanda and Emma! 🙂
First off…
🙂
So last Saturday, Rob’s car broke down. It just stopped as we were driving out of our parking garage. We thought it was the battery but after trying 2 different sets of jumper cables, that wasn’t the problem. So ever since then, we’ve had to take public transportation to work (I do this most of the time anyway so it’s not really a big deal for me) AND we’ve been stuck within walking distance of our apartment if we want to go out to eat or do anything. Which isn’t that much fun. It almost makes me want to go out and get my driver’s license. *Almost.* Heh.
Anyway. Rob and I did manage to get out of the apartment today and walk (it was freaking hot today too! UGH) to the movie theatre to watch Harry Potter again — yay! I loved it so much more after the second viewing. I want to post more comprehensive thoughts but that’ll probably have to wait til tomorrow because I’ve been hit with the lazy stick tonight.
But I will say that my crush on Dan Radcliffe is firmly intact. Guh. I’m like, 10 years older than him!
First off — HAPPY BIRTHDAY Nicola! 🙂
Second — Amanda, an htaccess file basically helps to prevent the direct linking of your images. See here for a more comprehensive explanation.
Lastly — There better be a good explanation for the crazy Everwood season finale trailer that aired tonight. All I have to say is (spoilery)…
