SatC movie

So I managed to have a good weekend despite the unexpected hack job. (GRRR).

I finally went to see the Sex and the City movie. WOO HOO! It totally made my weekend. I’ll post my thoughts after the cut.

I’ve also been getting through some movies on our Netflix queue. Let’s see if I can write quick 2-3 sentence reviews.

Atonement
Enjoyed it (mostly because I loved the romance between Robbie and Cecilia) but it was depressing. And I’m actually still mad at Briony. Can’t help it.

27 Dresses
I’m in the throes of wedding planning so of course, I thought this was a cute movie. Jane could have been a really sad, sad character but Katherine Heigl did an amazing job at giving her real depth. And she totally pulled off the scene where she tries on every single one of those 27 horrifying bridesmaid dresses. Plus, Judy Greer! I love her.

National Treasure 2
Cheesy (and I’m sure terribly historically inaccurate) but so much FUN! I totally want to see the first one now.

Juno
I think I might have bought in to the hype cause I liked the movie but wasn’t WOW-ed by it. I hate when that happens.

August Rush
Again, I liked this movie (as you can probably tell, I am very easy to please when it comes to movies) but I also felt like it was too… something. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Too sentimental maybe? Almost like it was trying a tad too hard to win over the audience. Anyway, Keri Russell as Lyla really sold this movie for me (and it didn’t hurt that there was eye candy in the form of Jonathan Rhys Meyers). I think Evan (Freddie Highmore) was supposed to be the heart of this story but I found it in Lyla.

Ok, now for some Sex and the City thoughts (spoilery! beware!)…

american dreams

Ugh, I hate daylight savings time. It always makes my day all screwy. Not that I had any real plans today or anything. But still.

Rob had work all day today so I lounged around and watched an entire season of Sex and the City. Season 4, to be exact, which I recently got as a gift (thanks Carms!). You know, I never really liked Aidan when I was actually watching the episodes unfold (I’m much too much of a Mr. Big apologist) but good grief, during this viewing, he totally broke my heart. Guh. *sniff* I miss this show.

Ooohh, I can’t believe tonight’s episode of American Dreams was the season finale! It’s going to be a looong summer. I rarely write comments about this show (mostly because I can never find the words that will bring justice to the storylines, the characters, the emotions, and the quality) but it really is one of my favorites. And because I can never really get the shipper out of me, I loved the scene when the girl at Penn thought Sam and Meg were a couple. I just adored the shy, awkward look they exchanged. I can’t wait to see how their relationship develops next season especially with their arrests hanging between them. Eeek!

Sucks about Wonderfalls being cancelled. I was just getting into it and the crazies at FOX yank it off the air. They really have absolutely no faith in the shows they order. I don’t know why they even bother.

Yay for new Everwood tomorrow! Finally.

i hate the rain

Rain is evil. *shakes fist at rain* So this morning I wake up to absolutely miserable weather. The rain is insane! It’s pouring like crazy and the wind is so strong. Ugh. There’s seriously nothing worse than taking public transportation into San Francisco on a rainy day. When I get into the city, I figure that since my office is only 2 blocks away from the train station I should be okay since I’ve got my trusty Winnie the Pooh umbrella and my big puffy waterproof jacket to keep my safe. Uh, no. By the time I get to my building, I am SOAKED. Evil, evil rain. Luckily I am a paranoid freak and I keep an extra pair of pants at work so I can change and not have to spend the rest of the day all wet. I so hope it doesn’t rain like that tomorrow. I can’t take it.

So yeah. That was my day.

Quick TV commentary:
YAY for Colin on Everwood!!! I have missed him SO much. Not at all crazy about the hair (Cut it off!) but it was so, so great to see Mike Erwin again. Heisohsocute. 🙂 I’ve heard that he’s working on a pilot for next season. I don’t really care what the show is — I would just LOVE to see him on TV regularly again. I’m crossing my fingers that it gets picked up. 😉

Loved Seth and Summer onThe OC. Their kissing booth scene? So cute. Didn’t much care about the Ryan/Marissa/Theresa (or is it Teresa?) triangle. But I loved the whole uncomfortable dinner table scene — so much like Seth and his situation with Anna and Summer. Hee.

Finally, Sex and the City (don’t read if you don’t want to know about the finale)…
