even more TV comments…

Rob and I just got a “Save the Date” postcard for our friends’ wedding in July. In Hawaii! Squee! I can’t wait to be on vacation… now I just have to get in shape so I can wear a bathing suit. Crap.

Anyway, so much TV to process (spoilers for the past week’s new episodes)…

The OC
I’m totally loving the development in Seth and Summer’s relationship. I think Zach is a great guy and I was just starting to really like him and Summer together. But that flew out the window when Summer saw Seth’s comic drawings of her — I got reeled back in. As for everything else, I’m not too crazy with what’s going on. Alex and Marissa are totally forgettable (what are the writers doing to poor Marissa anyway? I actually like the character and they can’t seem to figure out what the heck to do with her), Ryan and Lindsay are boring me (I’m sorry, I tried), and Kirsten and Sandy are stressing me out (I already have massive hate for this new Rebecca character — get away from Sandy!).

Jack and Bobby
MIKE ERWIN. !!! YaY. I’m so happy to have him back on my TV again. I thought I’d be giving up this show (4 shows on Wednesday nights is overkill) but between Mike and Bradley Cooper, this show will be staying on my schedule for as long as they are. Heh. Plus, I’m liking Courtney tons better now that they’ve paired her up with Mike Erwin. She’s so much more laidback and likable now. Don’t have much to say about the Jack and Missy break-up other than it was inevitable. Thank goodness — Missy’s breathy voice drove me crazy. Still don’t like Grace. Or Bobby. Especially Bobby.

One Tree Hill
Where was Peyton? And Jake? Was it mentioned that they were still picking up Jenny and I missed it? I hope the actors were unavailable for filming because I cannot believe that Brooke’s crazy crab storyline was more important. And I actually *like* Brooke. I don’t know if I can say the same for Haley right now. Her continued correspondence with Chris is so aggravating. GRR. Nathan is right there! And he loves you! And he’s so cute! I can’t believe this episode made me like Taylor more than Haley. I didn’t think it was possible.

Smallville
No Lex until 38 minutes into the episode?! Humph. Well, at least I was treated to a Lex/Jason scene. Hee. And Lois returned! I missed her! This episode was probably one of the better ones in recent memory. I didn’t like Alicia in her previous episodes but I warmed to her in this one (though I still don’t quite *get* her relationship with Clark). Too bad they had to kill her off. I also really liked Chloe discovering Clark’s secret. Allison Mack did a great job at conveying both confusion and shock — I wonder if the writers are going anywhere with this reveal? I kinda thought that Chloe might be more concerned with the fact that Lionel’s out of jail. Anyway, Chris Carmack (welcome to the OC bitch! heh) is on next week! But with horribly long and tangled hair. Huh.

tony’s back

OMG OMG OMG. Tony’s back! I think I’ve died and gone to heaven.

You all watch 24, don’t you?

😛

I would write more but I used up all my energy screaming and clapping when Tony appeared. I need to go to bed. Too much excitement for one night, hee.

quick tv wrap-up

I snagged my favorite ivory scarf today. I’m so pissed.

Because I have yet to pack for my trip to SoCal tomorrow, some *very* quick TV comments…

24
I knew Mary Anne was evil! I hope she’s doesn’t actually turn out to be a reverse mole (like Gael in s3) because I want to be totally justified for hating her. Behrooz rocked. He was going to get killed and beat down Tariq with his shovel. Awesome. Too bad he left the dead bodies AND the shovel out in the open. He should have just finished burying them before taking off.

Gilmore Girls
I couldn’t tell you what happened. Something about snow being Lorelai’s boyfriend? I don’t know. I was seriously unable to concentrate on the episode. I used to like storylines that involved Christopher (don’t judge me!) but it’s like the millionth time he’s tried to manipulate himself back into the girls’ lives and it’s getting a little tired. Plus, there was no Lane, no Logan, and no Marty to speak of in this episode. What’s up with that?

One Tree Hill
This episode made me rethink my potential purchase of the s1 DVDs. s1 was trashy goodness. s2 has just been trashy. Anna and Felix need to pack up and move out of Tree Hill. Like right now. I’m so annoyed with their characters that I don’t care if Anna’s really a lesbian or if Felix truly cares about Brooke. What. Ever. Jules can go right along with them for all I care. It sucks that poor Keith is being dragged through this horrible storyline. I don’t even want to get into the characters I care about. Nathan and Haley aren’t acting like themselves. I can’t believe Haley even gave a second thought to leaving with Chris (what is wrong with her?!) or that Nathan can allow himself to be manipulated by Taylor. I don’t understand why we can’t see them go through the trials of getting married so young. Instead we’re treated to external nuisances that cause problems for them. UGH. As for Lucas and Brooke, I guess I’m delusional cause I never for one second thought that their relationship in s1 was anything more than a fling. The writers have some serious backtracking to do if they want me to believe that they had something more. Oh well. At least Jake is back. He was the one bright spot of the episode.

Smallville
Please bring Lois back. kthxbye.

I still have Alias and OC thoughts but those’ll have to wait. Time for me to get packing!

🙂

last 2 episodes

Some comments on the last 2 Everwood episodes…

Complex Guilt
Ephram/Amy – As I mentioned in my previous post, my TV was messed up during the final Ephram/Amy scene. From what I’ve heard (thanks to Alie and Robyn — you guys rock), it seems like they made up and came to a resolution that they should both be willing to sacrifice things to make their relationship work. I wasn’t really crazy about this storyline but I did like that Amy didn’t carry her month-long grudge against Ephram because of him going to see Madison.

Edna/Irv – Such a depressing storyline. I kinda feel like it’s a way for John Beasley to leave the show, which would be really sad. I’m still upset that the writers took his narration away. I sorely miss it.

Bright/Ephram – Geesh, doesn’t Ephram ever learn that he shouldn’t listen to Bright’s advice?! Bright means well but he never quite hits it on the mark. I’m happy that they’re hanging out again, though. I love them!

I almost don’t want the Madison bomb to drop because I really enjoyed the Ephram/Andy scene in the hospital. Is it so bad that I want them to be happy? Ephram spent years hating Andy — I hate to think this is going to take them back to the arguing and general hostile tension that we saw back in season 1.

Quotes…
Hannah: I don’t mean to cuss but what the heck is going on? (She’s so cute!)

Amy: Every time I think about him going to see Madison, I want to punch him in the face. (Hehe).

Bright: You miss me, don’t you? Come on, a little bit.
Ephram: Shut up dude.

Jake: Knock, knock. Is there a doctor in the house?
Andy: Please let this be a hallucination from the drugs.
(I’m not sure why – but I laughed so hard at this — Jake just looked so concerned and enthusiastic all at the same time, lol).

Amy: If we don’t work out, I have nothing and you have everything.
Ephram: I wouldn’t have you.
*sniff*

Giving Up the Girl
One of those uneventful “filler” type episodes that I enjoyed nonetheless. Well, except for the Andy/Amanda scenes. Their scenes make me want to stick a fork in my eye, especially the scene when they were trying to think of names for their affair. !!! Ugh, so tacky.

Delia was so cute. I’m glad they actually gave Vivien some screentime! Her scene with Amy at the end was way overdue. With Amy spending as much time at the Browns as she does, it seems only natural that she would be developing a relationship with Delia.

Is it just me or were there hints of an eating disorder amidst Amy’s ballet storyline? Hmm. I hope not.

I think I’m *really* starting to like Jake/Nina. Their kiss in the snow was so sweet. Go Nina!

Quotes…
Amy: You can close your mouths, boys.
Ephram: I’m not… um, what?
Bright: I’m totally going into medicine.
Hannah: So that’s what 0% body fat looks like. Interesting.
HEE! The teaser was hilarious.

weekend wrap-up

Had a blissfully uneventful weeked. It feels so good to have absolutely nothing to do. *sigh*

Thanks to EVERYONE who gave me book recs. I really appreciate it! I’ve written them all down in my little book journal. Now I must find a way to get my hands on them all…

Loved LOVED tonight’s episode of American Dreams. The entire wedding and reception were beautifully done. It was so cute watching everyone dancing — JJ and Beth, Henry and Angela, Jack and Helen, Pete and Meg, Luke and Rox. Aww. Too bad JJ had to mess up his new marriage with a lie right off the bat. UGH. And as much as I think Jack is an ass at times (the whole not supporting Meg’s college education until she begged), all his actions are motivated by love and I really respect that about his character. But I hope he doesn’t take the bribe. That can’t bode well for his future on the city council or his own business. Still don’t like Meg and Chris. At all. I can’t believe she was going to tell him she loved him and let him back in her life. !!! I’m so glad he’s gone and I hope she doesn’t go looking for him.

Totally random but poor Paul Wasilewski (who seems to be going by Paul Wesley now) is always typecast as the “bad boy.” On American Dreams, Everwood, Smallville, The OC… he’s forever going to play the same character.

Next week — OMG, OMG, OMG! *hyperventilates* If you saw the promo for next week’s episode, you know what I’m talking about. Aaaahhhh.

another resolution

My sides hurt *so* much from all the laughing I did while watching American Idol… holy crap. There were some horrible auditions. Sometimes I wonder if I these people intentionally go into the audition and sing horribly to get on TV. I mean, really… they have to know they can’t sing. Right?!

Sadly, there really weren’t that many contestants that I actually remember because of their talent — I can only think of 3 people, actually. Marlea (21, single mother who just broke up with her fiance), Travis (dancer) and Anwar (Milli Vanilli look-alike). Too bad I wasn’t particularly blown away by any of them. The real standouts of the night were the ones who didn’t make it to Hollywood. The most memorable ones were definitely Derek Braxton and Mary Roach. *dies* Could Derek be any more full of himself? And what was with the attitude? Jeebus. I don’t think there are words for Mary… her whole audition was a train wreck. The voice, the unfortunate fitting pants and the general craziness. Eeep.

Anyway, I think Mark McGrath is hot. I wish he was a permanent judge.

Did anyone happen to catch last night’s Everwood? My TV or the cable (not sure which) cut out during the final Ephram/Amy scene so I didn’t get to see or hear what they talked about. Can anyone fill me in? Pretty please?

So I have another New Year’s resolution to add to my list… I’m gonna start reading more often (Keenai is my inspiration). I was quite the bookworm back in the day. But after college, the number of books I’ve read per year is pretty embarassing. And I want to remedy that. I’ve just started reading the Fearless series by Francine Pascal (Sweet Valley High!), which is actually really intriguing and suspenseful. It’s a young adult series but the themes and storylines are much heavier and intense than anything you’d expect. Many MANY thanks to Zinna for letting me borrow her books. She’s so awesome!

Aside from the first 4 Fearless books, I just finished reading Almost Paradise by Susan Isaacs which my best friend loaned to me. OMG. I *loved* this book. It traces the two main characters back to their great-grandparents and then continues through their childhoods and ultimately to their first meeting and eventual marriage. I didn’t want to put it down — it’s that engaging. You’ll ache for the characters and you will definitely cry. It’s not a “happily ever after” book by any means. Two thumbs up.

That said, anyone have any book recs for me? I tend to read chick lit (ie. Bridget Jones, Shopaholic series) but I’m seriously open to anything…

more everwood catch up…

I was so busy during the holidays I completely forgot to post my thoughts on the last few episodes before the break. I’m a very bad fan!

Just some quick thoughts on the main storylines…

Andy/Amanda
Don’t like it, don’t want to see it. When Amanda first appeared, I have to admit I was intrigued by the storyline but after seeing the way their relationship has developed, I think it was definitely a bad idea. I mean, I like the character of Amanda just fine — I just don’t like the idea of a relationship between her and Dr. Brown, especially since he’s treating her husband. It’s all very awkward and I can’t wait for closure to this storyline.

Jake/Nina
I consider myself to be an Andy/Nina shipper but I could get behind Jake/Nina! I just want her to be happy and Jake looks pretty good to me. Hee!

Ephram/Amy/Madison
I can definitely relate to being curious about what’s going on with an ex. And I don’t think Ephram was wrong in wanting to see Madison. But he should have told Amy beforehand. (Silly Ephram, he shouldn’t have listened to Bright — although it was good to see B/E interacting again. I miss their friendship!) Granted, Amy would have flipped out anyway but I think the position he’s in now is far worse. Amy knows he tried to keep it a secret and that has to hurt, especially since she centered a lot of her college applications around Ephram. I’ve been *really* good at remaining unspoiled for the upcoming episodes so I can’t wait to see how these two crazy kids get out of this mess!

At least the Everwood hiatus is almost over! And sooner than I thought. The next new episode (Complex Guilt) is tomorrow!

24 again

After 4 hours of 24 in 2 days, having a week between episodes will probably seem like ages.

Anyway, very quick comments on the 9-11am hours…

Jack and the gas station robbery — I’m wavering back and forth between liking and disliking this move. I do admit it was a good way for Jack to get Kalil’s name, phone, wallet, etc. without rousing suspicion but it took waaaayyy too long. Jack was in the gas station for almost the *entire* hour waiting for Chloe to position the satellites. And when he finally gets out, I can’t believe he didn’t anticipate the police roadblock. Come on Jack!

I’m not liking CTU much this season. I enjoy Chloe and Curtis but I don’t care at all for Driscoll, Sarah, Edgar, or Marianne (and I normally like Aisha Tyler — speaking of which, she has had some awesome roles this season — first CSI, now this). I mean, does everyone at CTU need to be so catty and annoying?

The best part of these episodes was the Araz family, particularly Mrs. Araz. She seriously freaks me out; I just love watching her. I think I felt a chill go down my spine as she was walking up the staircase while Behrooz was leaning over Debbie’s dead body (she killed her with iced tea!). I wouldn’t ever want to cross her path.

It’s good to have Kiefer back on TV.

Is it sad that I’m totally bummed about Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt splitting up?! I thought they would be the Hollywood couple that beat the odds. So, so sad.

24 is back!

Squee! 24 is back. How I missed Jack Bauer.

It was a little weird at first not recognizing any characters but Jack and Chloe (I’m still mourning the loss of Tony and Michelle this season) but the episode was so fast-paced and exciting and the new characters were so engaging that I forgot all about it. I already have a large amount of hate for Driscoll, am intrigued by the Araz family (the mom is seriously creepy!), and I can’t wait to learn more about Audrey and Curtis. The only storyline that I just can’t get behind is the whole Behrooz/Debbie relationship. Or maybe I just can’t warm to it because the character of Debbie comes off as entirely too needy and whiny. I can just tell she’s going to get on my nerves. Girl, your boyfriend’s a terrorist, just back off already!

Loved hearing about Kim and Chase moving to Valencia. Hee. Didn’t love that we didn’t learn anything about what Michelle’s been doing. I know Tony’s in prison but Michelle?! Where is she? Humph.

Can’t wait for tomorrow’s episodes!

alias is back!

First off, many many thanks to Barry for reccing Howie Day’s Collide. I downloaded it and just fell in love. I keep listening to it over and over and over. Anyone else have song recs for me? I have lots of iTunes gift cards to burn!

Aahhh, yes. Wednesdays could possibly be the best night of TV for me. Lost AND Alias. Phew, jam-packed combination.

Very sleepy, so some quick comments.

Lost
I need answers! What happened to Claire?! I’ve been pretty good about not reading spoilers for this show but I think this episode has driven me to the edge. Not to mention the fact that this was another Kate-centric episode — when are we going to get any backstory for Boone? Hmm? I did enjoy the interaction between Sayid and Shannon though. A very unexpected pairing that I could totally get behind. But what was with Boone’s creepy stalker stare? Dun, dun, dun…

Alias
I thought the premiere was excellent. I still have lingering Season 3 disappointment but Authorized Personnel Only infused the show with some fun again. I got a total Season 1 vibe from it all, which can only be a good thing. Plus, Syd/Vaughn! What can I say, I’m a complete sucker when it comes to that ship. The addition of Nadia to the “team” is great as well. It seems that they’re heading towards some kind of Syd versus Nadia showdown (not a spoiler, just something I picked up in their closing scene) but I sure hope that they can become friends. Syd needs that in her life. As for the big reveal about Irina, I have to say I’m not surprised. It’s getting pretty clear that Lena Olin’s not coming back so the writers took advantage of the situation by getting rid of the need for Irina to show up again and creating another complication for Syd. I love Irina but last season’s IM messages between her and Jack were very eyeroll worthy. Also wished that there would have been more Weiss and that we could have seen a glimpse of Sark. *sniff* But the biggest thing that bothered me were the new opening credits. Blech. Too. Much. Syd. (And this coming from a huge fan of both Syd and Jennifer Garner). Oh well, I’m just glad the show is back.

I can sleep happy now.
