live journal

Thanks to everyone for the compliments on the layout. Y’all know how to make a girl smile. :)

Am I the only person who *doesn’t* have a Live Journal?

It seems like lots of people are getting one. Is it sad that I want an LJ so I can stop being “anonymous” when I comment? It’s kinda depressing, lol.

Kelly’s going to be on American Idol tomorrow! Very excited about that.

Made some DC caps today but I have no energy to make thumbnails and upload them. Will probably do that by the weekend. If anyone can recommend an easier and faster way of creating a screencap gallery, that would be fabulous. I think I went a bit overboard — I capped 4 scenes today and came out with a little over 180 caps! Crazy.

my poor ears

Gah, who decided it would be a good idea to have disco night on American Idol? Cause seriously, my ears are not happy. It was torture sitting through most of it. I did like Kim L, Clay and Ruben but everyone else was just… meh. I especially found Kim C and Josh to be completely boring — they didn’t hold my attention at all. I’m thinking they’ll both be in the bottom two tomorrow. Speaking of the results show, does anyone know if they’re actually going to eliminate someone now that Corey is gone? Or are they just going through the motions of the show and then let everyone breathe a sigh of relief when they find out they’ve all been given a free pass to the next round? Hmmm. I wouldn’t put the latter past the AI producers. And geesh, AI has been all about the scandal this year — Frenchie and her nude pictures, that one guy who was found to be connected to a murder, Trenyce’s sticky fingers, and now Corey’s charges for assault. Wow. Those AI/Fox people are really doing in-depth background checks. Damn.

Anyway, is it just me or do other people also get emotional (for the lack of a better word) when they hear sad things about the personal lives of celebrities? I just read a short article about Jennifer Garner and Scott Foley splitting up and it made me so sad. I find them to be such a delightful couple — in interviews, they come across as very loving and supportive. It’s unfortunate that their work, if the speculation in the article is true, had to come between them. :(

not jordan!

Just wanted to say… No! Not the cute guy! :(

I just finished watching my tape of American Idol and I’m sad to see Jordan go. I mean, he’s Asian, he has a somewhat pleasant voice, and… he’s cute! As in very. hee.

I need some eye candy in the top 10. But no, America has gone and voted him off. Does no one want me to watch this show?!? Cause seriously, I remember being more excited about AI last season — the current season’s singers just aren’t doing anything for me.

non-bloggy mood

Haven’t been in a real bloggy mood lately. Blah blah and more blah.

Did manage to catch the season premiere of American Idol — that was good stuff. I know it’s mean but I can’t help but find it amusing that people with horrible singing voices really believe that they have what it takes to be a pop star. Like that one guy Eddie (I think that’s his name) who wouldn’t believe that he had been cut. They had to escort the poor guy out of the audition room because he wouldn’t leave! omg, he was totally delusional. hee.

I finally caught the latest episode of BtVS!

* spoilers for Potential ahead*

Thank God Dawn is not a potential. I was ready to turn off the TV or something. And I have to say that the SiTs are all horrible — none of them can act at all! Aagghhh. But seeing Clem made watching the episode worthwhile. hee. Clem’s awesome.

* end spoilers *

Yay for more American Idol tomorrow. Something to look forward to.

food network

I am officially addicted to the Food Network. Rob and I have been watching it every day for a week now. Last Monday, we were so inspired by a segment on maple syrup that we went to the grocery store to buy ingredients for maple chicken wings and banana fritters. Yummy. I don’t know how to cook at all — Rob is the cook around here — so I guess this is a good thing.

I didn’t get tickets to the American Idol concert — boo. The nearest concert is around an hour away from here and Rob’s car is very temperamental right now (read: it only starts when it wants to) so we don’t want to take the chance that it’ll die from the drive. Oh well. BUT my good friend Nik has offered to make a copy of the American Idol finale! Yay! Thanks again sweetie. :)

the american idol… kelly clarkson!

Wheeee! I am so happy that Kelly won!

Tonight’s finale of American Idol was great — just the right amount of snark and cheesy pop songs to make me happy. :P I didn’t watch the show from the very beginning (I started watching when they were down to 8 finalists, I think) so I really appreciated all the great clips from the auditions. Those were hilarious — especially of the people who copped an attitude with the judges after a bit of constructive criticism. Bwah! Too funny. I have to admit that I actually enjoyed the medleys too — such cheesy goodness. The finalists sounded so much more relaxed now that the pressure is off. But what in the world was going on with Christina Christian’s hair? She looked like she had just been electrocuted! Gah. What a nightmare. And whoa, that was a really subtle bit of foreshadowing when Will Young (the winner of the UK’s Pop Idol) and Kelly were singing that duet together — funny that they were both wearing black and everyone else surrounding them was wearing khaki pants. Was that on purpose, I wonder?

And yes, I did bawl like a baby when Kelly won — she looked so overwhelmed and then she started to sing. She was adorable when her voice got all squeaky from trying to hold the tears back. Awww. And wow, I never really thought too much of Justin but he was amazingly gracious tonight. When the judges were singing their praises for Kelly, she looked so uncomfortable but he kept smiling and looked over at her to make her smile as well. So cute. I also loved when all the finalists rushed the stage to hug Kelly — such a nice genuine moment. It’s cool that they all seem to really like each other. I might just have to get tickets to the concert.

Is it sad that I’m going to buy that American Idol DVD? I’ll probably also grab Kelly’s first single — I’m not crazy about the song — it ranks high on the schmaltz factor — but hey, it’s Kelly. And I have to support my same-name gal.

HUGE favor: I was wondering if anyone out there taped tonight’s finale — I didn’t have the foresight to record it and now I regret it. I would love to see it again. Please email me and we’ll talk cost. ;)

happy birthday rob!

It’s Rob’s birthday today! Happy 24th to him! :) We went to a sushi restaurant called The Drunken Fish — so good! My favorite item is this spicy deep fried tuna roll. Yuuuumm. Random: if you look up drunken fish + oakland, a previous blog entry of mine comes up. hee! Search engines fascinate me.

Hehe, I actually voted after watching American Idol tonight — for Kelly, of course! Her voice is just amazing. And she’s such a cutie pie. :)

I can’t believe I’m leaving for Hawaii so soon! I haven’t started packing or cleaning my room yet — so much to do, so little time. Grr argh!

go kelly!

Am feeling sick. Hope this stupid stuffy nose goes away by the time I leave next week. Grr. I always get sick at the most inopportune times.

Oh! I remembered to watch American Idol tonight. Kelly Clarkson is my personal favorite — she is so versatile with her singing style — every genre so far, she’s been right there taking the challenge with flair. I hope she wins!

And uugghh, did anyone catch the disaster of a movie on MTV? Real World: The Lost Season? I was flipping the channels while American Idol was on commercial break and caught a few minutes of the movie — terrible. Where do they come up with these stupid ideas?!?

american idol

So I finally broke down and watched American Idol — and I’m sad to say that I’m hooked. *sigh* After the disappointment of PopStars 2 (I hated the second season but I thought the first was highly entertaining), I didn’t think I’d ever be able to watch these crazy reality shows again. But gah — these contestants are actually pretty good. :P My two favorites are definitely Justin (I love his facial expressions) and Kelly (what an amazing voice and a great name :P ). AJ had a cute voice but he didn’t look very comfortable on stage and that girl Ryan made me cringe. I guess the others weren’t very noteworthy cause I can’t remember anything about them — either that, or I just have the most horrible memory. :P I’m sure I’ll tune in tomorrow to find out who gets booted off — let it be Ryan! — heh.
