mini golf birthday

I’m heading into the last 2 days of work at my current job. It’s a very strange feeling… I’m sad to leave all my great co-workers, I’m scared that I might be horrible at my new job, but I’m really excited to be doing something different. I’m totally all over the place. :/

I had a really fun (early) birthday shindig today with some friends. We played miniature golf down in Castro Valley (I SUCK) and then came back up to Berkeley for pizza at Zachary’s (OMG, SO GOOD). Rob also got me the yummiest strawberry cake from Neldam’s Bakery. Aaaahhh, I feel so spoiled. 😀

Anyway, I thought I’d upload some of my recent favorite songs since I haven’t done a music post recently…

These Fergie songs are damn catchy.

Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars (Acoustic) (This song makes me go… GUH. Note: this file’s in m4a format).

Countdown to Paris: 4 days!

thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!

🙂

I think I’m going to explode. I have eaten SO MUCH food today. Rob and I had his brother and wife over today and we split the cooking responsibilities. I was in charge of the ham (which I bought from Honey Baked — yum!), candied yams, stuffing, spinach/artichoke dip and pumpkin pie. Susie, Rob’s sister-in-law, made the turkey, biscuits, garlic mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. HOLY COW. It didn’t really sound like THAT much food when we were planning the menu but seriously, we each had about 2 rounds of food and we barely put a dent in any of the dishes. I’m going to be eating leftover Thanksgiving dinner ALL WEEKEND.

Tomorrow Rob and I plan on checking out a few Black Friday sales… possibly Target and Best Buy. Yeah, it’s going to be a zoo but they have toys and DVDs on sale! We can’t resist.

Anyway, before I head off to bed, I want to wish Cat a very Happy Birthday! Hope it was a good one.

hp4 review

First off… HAPPY BIRTHDAY Christie! Hope you have a fantastic day! 🙂

Second… YaY CAL for winning the Big Game this past weekend. It was the first time I’d ever been to a Big Game and it was lots of fun. My ears are still ringing, though, from sitting in the student section with all the screaming fans.

Too bad I also got sick and had to stay home from work all day yesterday. I’ve been pretty miserable for the past few days but at least I caught up on TV. 🙂 There’s always a bright side.

And now… random HP GoF thoughts.

birthday stuff

Ahhh, this year’s birthday has been so awesome. I haven’t done anything extraordinarily special… I’ve just been really happy. And thanks to all of you for your wonderful birthday greetings! 🙂

On my birthday, I got to work and found my cubicle decorated with streamers, confetti, and NEMO balloons! Awww. And the presents! I got a few pairs of earrings from my managers (I’m an earrings freak), a Banana Republic gift card, a cute pink purse, and a pink hoodie (can you tell I love pink? :P). My office even threw me a little “party” that afternoon. 🙂 I was blushing like crazy (I hate the attention) but OMG, the CAKES! I had a Strawberry Shortcake from Neldam’s Bakery and a Chocolate Cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. SO. YUMMY. I swear I’ve gained about 10 pounds this week just from all the birthday treats.

I also got a new iPod from Rob because I’ve been complaining about mine. Hehe. My current one is a second generation iPod that has the touch pad menu instead of the click wheel. But OF COURSE, the day *after* my birthday, freaking Apple decides to release the video iPod, which OF COURSE, has 10gb more space AND video capabilities for the SAME price as the 20gb iPod I just received. BOO. So Rob’s going to exchange it for me. WOOHOO. I AM SO EXCITED. I love new toys.

Anyway, my dad showed up last night. He came up here to visit some old friends from college so he calls me and is like “Surprise! I’m here for the weekend.” Uhhhh. I don’t like surprises. I mean, I love my dad but give me some notice! He came over this morning and we had a great dim sum lunch over at the Oakland Chinatown. I stuffed myself silly. I have seriously eaten my weight in food this past week.

So it’s been a good weekend so far (with the exception of the CAL football loss). I hope everyone is having a great weekend as well! 🙂

laguna beach

It was a lazy weekend for me… I just love it.

I met Nicola yesterday (Rob and I took her to buy a TV) and she’s every bit as awesome as you would expect. It’s funny because I was kinda nervous about meeting her so when I opened the car door for her to get in, I wasn’t paying attention and rammed the door right into her leg. How embarrassing. Anyway, it’s so nice to finally be able to put a face to a name! 🙂

I had a Laguna Beach season 1 marathon yesterday. If you’re a fan, you definitely need to rent the DVDs, specifically the third disc. There’s lots of deleted scenes, interviews (from before and after the filming of the show) and featurettes (I especially love the one where LC shows off her house — damn, she is loaded). I don’t really have many friends who watch this show but I have some comments…

I love Kristin. There. I admit it. I know she’s snobby and loud and probably thinks a little too highly of herself… but she has fun and doesn’t care about what other people think of her. She’s great for bringing in the drama. That doesn’t mean I side with her regarding the Kristin/Stephen/LC triangle, though (I do, however, prefer Kristin and Stephen as a couple to Stephen and LC). I think Stephen’s to blame for that mess. He obviously wants to be with Kristin but can’t seem to let go of LC as the rebound girl. UGH. It makes me nuts. I can’t understand why LC just won’t move on.

Can’t stand the “brunettes,” Morgan and Christina. Why are they always talking about morals?! And is it completely horrible that I laughed when Christina had her Broadway audition? I hope she doesn’t actually believe she can make a living out of singing. :/

Love Lo and Trey — the 2 of them were like the unexpected stars for me. Trey because he was so mellow and Lo because she was so damn funny (without really meaning to be).

I’ve missed a few episodes of the second season but I can definitely say I prefer the cast of the first season far more. The second season brought Jason (total player — UGH), Alex M (awful girl who asks another girl’s boyfriend to the formal — who DOES that?), Jessica (poor girl lets Jason walk ALL over her), Taylor (Booorring), and Casey (I’m not convinced that she’s not actually a human Barbie doll). These new kids don’t hold a candle to the original cast.

OK. Enough crappy reality show talk. I need to get my fall TV schedule in order. I’ll save that for my next entry.

Last but not least — I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to Alie! 🙂

rob’s 27th bday

Rob’s 27th birthday is tomorrow (8/13) but we had his big bash last night at Cafe Mum’s in Japantown. Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us! It was so much fun!

Anyway, it’s Friday and I’m tired so I’m going to do the OTP meme that’s floating around…

Number #1 OTP that is truly THE ONE TRUE PAIRING (withstanding the test of time and fandom whoring): Pacey and Joey, Dawson’s Creek. (Like there was any doubt?) It’s the banter and the wit, the sweetness and the sarcasm…
Your OTP Today: Ephram and Amy, Everwood. Ephram really disappointed me this past season but they have such a real and engaging chemistry, I can’t help but root for these two crazy kids.
Baby’s First OTP: My first real OTP obsession was Pacey and Joey… where I actually saved pictures I could find, rewatched episodes over and over, searched for fanfic, etc. However, before I got into “fandom,” my original OTP was Robin and Stone from General Hospital. Their love story still absolutely kills me.
That Rare Pairing That You Love: Colin and Amy, Everwood (a beautiful and tragic first love story). Dawson and Jen, Dawson’s Creek and Lucas and Peyton, One Tree Hill (untapped potential).
OTP That You’d Go to Bat For in Wank Situation: I don’t really care to get involved in fandom wank… but I suppose I’d argue for any of my couples.
Number #1 Anti-OTP, the Pairing You Hate with a Fiery Passion: Ephram and Madison, Everwood. I don’t even like thinking about them… if anything has disappointed me about the show, it’s the way this relationship reared its ugly head at the end of season 2 and the way it continued to cast a cloud over season 3.
Character You Pair Off With Almost Anyone: Veronica, Veronica Mars.

This is for rapid fire first OTP that comes to your head for each fandom, don’t cheat!
*Dawson’s Creek – Pacey/Joey
*BtVS – Buffy/Angel
*Felicity – Felicity/Noel
*Everwood – Ephram/Amy
*24 – Tony/Michelle
*Gilmore Girls – Rory/Dean
*One Tree Hill – Nathan/Haley
*Smallville – Lex/Lana
*The West Wing – Sam/Ainsley
*The OC – Seth/Summer
*Friends – Monica/Chandler
*Alias – Syd/Vaughn
*Lost – Kate/Jack
*Veronica Mars – Veronica/Duncan
*Roswell – Michael/Maria
*CSI – Nick/Warrick
*Harry Potter: Harry/Hermione

summer movies

Squee! New pictures from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire are here and here. I especially adore all the pics of Harry (my Dan love is resurfacing). Aww. And I finally got my first look at an official WB photo of Cho Chang. Katie Leung (I think that’s the actress’s name) is totally cute but she’s just not what I envisioned Cho to look like. Maybe it’s just me…

In other movie news, I’ve seen a few in recent weeks (all of which are probably old news to everyone else, lol)…

Batman Begins
The best movie I’ve seen all year. Actually, the best movie I’ve seen in a LONG time. It was amazing. The talented cast (especially Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman — and yes, including Katie Holmes), the darker storyline, the gritty sets — everything just fell into place for this movie. A definite improvement from the cheesefest that was Batman and Robin (please no one let Arnold Schwarzenegger appear in another Batman movie). Can’t wait for the sequel!

Fantastic Four
Entertaining but not much else. The Fantastic Four aren’t developed at all as characters which made it hard for me to care. I definitely had trouble with Johnny Storm (Chris Evans’s character) — he was such a hothead and I never understood why. There was also some cringe-worthy acting (*cough*JessicaAlba*cough*) but I’ll overlook that because I adored Julian McMahon. Heh.

Wedding Crashers
Everyone needs to go see this movie! Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are freaking hilarious. Rachel McAdams is rocking (as usual) plus, you get to see Bradley Cooper (yum!) play a decidedly non-Will character. Good times.

I also saw a trailer for Dukes of Hazzard. WOW. Jessica Simpson absolutely cannot act. I was so embarrassed for her. EEK.

And last but not least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Emma! Hope you have a great day! 🙂
