the perfect day

My brief (and very very late) comments on The Perfect Day

I’m going to forget that the Andy/Amanda storyline exists, because the rest of the episode was pretty much perfect (the foursome ditching school to play in the snow — so cute!, Dr. Abbott and Edna getting drunk). This episode definitely reflected “the calm before the [Madison] storm.”

By far my favorite part of the episode was getting to see Bright at work!!! Aww.

Oh, and Bright/Hannah were incredibly cute as well. I’ve been a bit unsure about a romantic relationship for these two but I’m starting to think they could work…

Quotes:
Amy: We’re outlaws, baby. You wanna be Butch or Sundance?
Ephram: Did you just call me baby?
Amy: Yeah, that doesn’t really work for us, does it?

Hannah: I’m uncomfortable.

Hannah: But I never got to pee!

Hannah: I feel like I should just go to church and like throw down some Hail Marys or something.

Hannah: You have nothing to be jealous about since Ephram is your boyfriend and is totally in love with you.
Amy: Yeah, that’s why we spent half the day fighting.
Hannah: Ok, no offense but you are like 50% of the problem when it comes to that.
Amy: Hannah, even if that’s true, you’re not supposed to say it.
BWAH!!!

Ephram: It’s like tragedy’s the only thing we have in common. It’s practically the reason we’re friends.
Bright: At least we all found each other.

I still have 2 (!!!) episodes to catch up on so slowly but surely I’ll be posting my thoughts…

another fandom meme

Because I am incredibly behind on TV (I have 3 weeks worth of Everwood episodes to watch — craziness!), a fandom meme…

Snagged from Jessica

Everwood
1. The first character you first fell in love with: Colin. Loved him from the very first second of We Hold These Truths. He remains my most favorite Everwood character.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now: Ephram. *hides* His constant bad attitude and cynicism got on my nerves in the beginning. But I’ve really enjoyed watching him grow and come into his own… he’s had a great journey.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don’t: Dr. Abbott. I have a soft spot for the guy but I really, really, really dislike the way he treats Bright (especially compared to Amy).
4. The character you love that everyone else hates: Amy. Well, the fandom doesn’t hate Amy as much as I get the feeling that people just like to criticize her. Sure, she can be very self-centered but what teenager isn’t?
5. The character you used to love but don’t any longer: Dr. Brown. His treatment of Madison and now his affair with Amanda have completely soured the character for me.

The OC
1. The first character you first fell in love with: Ryan.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now: Summer. I never expected that the writers would actually give the character some depth. I’m glad they did.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don’t: Lindsay. She makes me yawn.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates: Marissa. I don’t know what it is but she intrigues me… alcohol and lesbian storylines included.
5. The character you used to love but don’t any longer: Seth. He’s become a bit too shrill and self-absorbed. Not to mention that he doesn’t seem to have much respect for his relationships with his friends (case in point: Summer and Zach).

24
1. The first character you first fell in love with: Tony. (Or maybe I’m just getting the character and the actor confused? lol)
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now: Chloe.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don’t: Sherry Palmer. UGH. She was always doing or saying something stupid. I don’t understand why she’s such a popular character within the fandom.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates: Kim.
5. The character you used to love but don’t any longer: Michelle. How could she leave Tony?! Especially after he risked everything to save her life. I’m hoping that she’ll make an appearance this season to explain herself.

CSI
1. The first character you first fell in love with: Nick. His innocence is so endearing.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now: Warrick and Brass.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don’t: Sara. She acts so smug sometimes.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates: Catherine. Although I’m not sure I like that she’s actually getting along with Ecklie now. Yuck.
5. The character you used to love but don’t any longer: Sara.

Alias
1. The first character you first fell in love with: Sydney.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now: Jack. He’s always been kinda morally ambiguous but I know that he would do anything to protect Syd.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don’t: Sloane. He was a bad guy! He was head of SD-6! I can’t let go of his past just because he’s somehow landed himself a leadership role in a Black Ops division of the CIA.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates: Vaughn. I just… I don’t know. I keep remembering s1/2 Syd and Vaughn and I fall in love with them all over again.
5. The character you used to love but don’t any longer: I don’t know… maybe Dixon? But that’s only because the writers haven’t given him a real storyline in awhile so it’s hard to care when he’s not doing anything.

Dawson’s Creek
1. The first character you first fell in love with: Pacey. All his insecurities hiding beneath the bravado. Awww.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now: Jen. I have to admit that I was a Dawson/Joey fan when the show started, so I naturally disliked Jen for “getting in the way.” She’s since become my favorite character on the show.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don’t: Andie. OMG, she drove me crazy.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates: Gretchen and Drue. Two great additions to season 4. I really wish they had kept Drue on for season 5 — it would have been really interesting to see a relationship develop between him and Jen. The writers really dropped the ball.
5. The character you used to love but don’t any longer: Audrey.

Time for bed…

last 2 episodes

Some comments on the last 2 Everwood episodes…

Complex Guilt
Ephram/Amy – As I mentioned in my previous post, my TV was messed up during the final Ephram/Amy scene. From what I’ve heard (thanks to Alie and Robyn — you guys rock), it seems like they made up and came to a resolution that they should both be willing to sacrifice things to make their relationship work. I wasn’t really crazy about this storyline but I did like that Amy didn’t carry her month-long grudge against Ephram because of him going to see Madison.

Edna/Irv – Such a depressing storyline. I kinda feel like it’s a way for John Beasley to leave the show, which would be really sad. I’m still upset that the writers took his narration away. I sorely miss it.

Bright/Ephram – Geesh, doesn’t Ephram ever learn that he shouldn’t listen to Bright’s advice?! Bright means well but he never quite hits it on the mark. I’m happy that they’re hanging out again, though. I love them!

I almost don’t want the Madison bomb to drop because I really enjoyed the Ephram/Andy scene in the hospital. Is it so bad that I want them to be happy? Ephram spent years hating Andy — I hate to think this is going to take them back to the arguing and general hostile tension that we saw back in season 1.

Quotes…
Hannah: I don’t mean to cuss but what the heck is going on? (She’s so cute!)

Amy: Every time I think about him going to see Madison, I want to punch him in the face. (Hehe).

Bright: You miss me, don’t you? Come on, a little bit.
Ephram: Shut up dude.

Jake: Knock, knock. Is there a doctor in the house?
Andy: Please let this be a hallucination from the drugs.
(I’m not sure why – but I laughed so hard at this — Jake just looked so concerned and enthusiastic all at the same time, lol).

Amy: If we don’t work out, I have nothing and you have everything.
Ephram: I wouldn’t have you.
*sniff*

Giving Up the Girl
One of those uneventful “filler” type episodes that I enjoyed nonetheless. Well, except for the Andy/Amanda scenes. Their scenes make me want to stick a fork in my eye, especially the scene when they were trying to think of names for their affair. !!! Ugh, so tacky.

Delia was so cute. I’m glad they actually gave Vivien some screentime! Her scene with Amy at the end was way overdue. With Amy spending as much time at the Browns as she does, it seems only natural that she would be developing a relationship with Delia.

Is it just me or were there hints of an eating disorder amidst Amy’s ballet storyline? Hmm. I hope not.

I think I’m *really* starting to like Jake/Nina. Their kiss in the snow was so sweet. Go Nina!

Quotes…
Amy: You can close your mouths, boys.
Ephram: I’m not… um, what?
Bright: I’m totally going into medicine.
Hannah: So that’s what 0% body fat looks like. Interesting.
HEE! The teaser was hilarious.

another resolution

My sides hurt *so* much from all the laughing I did while watching American Idol… holy crap. There were some horrible auditions. Sometimes I wonder if I these people intentionally go into the audition and sing horribly to get on TV. I mean, really… they have to know they can’t sing. Right?!

Sadly, there really weren’t that many contestants that I actually remember because of their talent — I can only think of 3 people, actually. Marlea (21, single mother who just broke up with her fiance), Travis (dancer) and Anwar (Milli Vanilli look-alike). Too bad I wasn’t particularly blown away by any of them. The real standouts of the night were the ones who didn’t make it to Hollywood. The most memorable ones were definitely Derek Braxton and Mary Roach. *dies* Could Derek be any more full of himself? And what was with the attitude? Jeebus. I don’t think there are words for Mary… her whole audition was a train wreck. The voice, the unfortunate fitting pants and the general craziness. Eeep.

Anyway, I think Mark McGrath is hot. I wish he was a permanent judge.

Did anyone happen to catch last night’s Everwood? My TV or the cable (not sure which) cut out during the final Ephram/Amy scene so I didn’t get to see or hear what they talked about. Can anyone fill me in? Pretty please?

So I have another New Year’s resolution to add to my list… I’m gonna start reading more often (Keenai is my inspiration). I was quite the bookworm back in the day. But after college, the number of books I’ve read per year is pretty embarassing. And I want to remedy that. I’ve just started reading the Fearless series by Francine Pascal (Sweet Valley High!), which is actually really intriguing and suspenseful. It’s a young adult series but the themes and storylines are much heavier and intense than anything you’d expect. Many MANY thanks to Zinna for letting me borrow her books. She’s so awesome!

Aside from the first 4 Fearless books, I just finished reading Almost Paradise by Susan Isaacs which my best friend loaned to me. OMG. I *loved* this book. It traces the two main characters back to their great-grandparents and then continues through their childhoods and ultimately to their first meeting and eventual marriage. I didn’t want to put it down — it’s that engaging. You’ll ache for the characters and you will definitely cry. It’s not a “happily ever after” book by any means. Two thumbs up.

That said, anyone have any book recs for me? I tend to read chick lit (ie. Bridget Jones, Shopaholic series) but I’m seriously open to anything…

more everwood catch up…

I was so busy during the holidays I completely forgot to post my thoughts on the last few episodes before the break. I’m a very bad fan!

Just some quick thoughts on the main storylines…

Andy/Amanda
Don’t like it, don’t want to see it. When Amanda first appeared, I have to admit I was intrigued by the storyline but after seeing the way their relationship has developed, I think it was definitely a bad idea. I mean, I like the character of Amanda just fine — I just don’t like the idea of a relationship between her and Dr. Brown, especially since he’s treating her husband. It’s all very awkward and I can’t wait for closure to this storyline.

Jake/Nina
I consider myself to be an Andy/Nina shipper but I could get behind Jake/Nina! I just want her to be happy and Jake looks pretty good to me. Hee!

Ephram/Amy/Madison
I can definitely relate to being curious about what’s going on with an ex. And I don’t think Ephram was wrong in wanting to see Madison. But he should have told Amy beforehand. (Silly Ephram, he shouldn’t have listened to Bright — although it was good to see B/E interacting again. I miss their friendship!) Granted, Amy would have flipped out anyway but I think the position he’s in now is far worse. Amy knows he tried to keep it a secret and that has to hurt, especially since she centered a lot of her college applications around Ephram. I’ve been *really* good at remaining unspoiled for the upcoming episodes so I can’t wait to see how these two crazy kids get out of this mess!

At least the Everwood hiatus is almost over! And sooner than I thought. The next new episode (Complex Guilt) is tomorrow!

mike erwin spotting

David Anders wasn’t on CSI tonight… but that’s okay because Mike Erwin was! Squee!

Mike Erwin! My Everwood TV boyfriend! *happy sigh* He had a small role but it was very cool to see him again. Especially since I missed him when he recently appeared on Joan of Arcadia.

Another Everwood alum, Kate Mara, was also in this episode — she played Kate Morris in s1. It’s like a fandom reunion!

The episode itself was a bit of a letdown since last week’s was so good. And I was not happy that this Sophie person ate up so much screentime. She’s a day shift CSI! Why’d she take so much time away from everybody else? Like Warrick. He’s barely had any scenes in the last few episodes. Not to mention Sara who wasn’t even in this episode. Humph. CSI already has a great ensemble cast — use them! But I’m guessing there’s more in store for Sophie. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have had as many scenes with Grissom as she did, especially since she’s a DAY SHIFT CSI. I just hope it’s not a potential relationship. *cringes*

As for my other Thursday night addiction… The OC brought more Ryan/Seth shippy scenes. Which is all I really care about, hehe. Well ok, I also care about the Seth/Summer storyline. And as much as I want them to get back together, I have to agree with everything Summer said when she yelled at Seth at the carnival. He doesn’t deserve her — not when he can’t even admit that he did something wrong by leaving.

In non-TV news, I’ve officially started Christmas shopping! Mmm. I just love the holidays.

catching up on everwood…

No new Everwood tonight. So that means I can finally catch up on commenting…

Shoot the Moon
I wasn’t as disturbed by Ephram and Amy applying to colleges near each other as I thought I would be. Sure it’s sweet but to me, it’s also really naive. In real life, most people don’t end up with their high school sweetheart. BUT this is TV *and* it’s Ephram/Amy so I’ll just go with it…

Finally some Ephram/Dr. Abbott interaction! It’s about time. I enjoyed the silly way their scene started (Ephram: “Should I be scared?” Dr. Abbott: “Every day of your life!”) and then I *loved* the touching way that Dr. Abbott complimented Ephram on his gift. Dr. Abbott really showed his vulnerability here by going to Ephram in the first place and basically admitting that he could no longer influence Amy the way that Ephram can.

Dr. Brown was awful in this episode. What was up with him? He should be on a leash. Seriously. I don’t understand why he had to act like such a child during the Colorado A&M tour. UGH.

And as much as I adore Ephram and Amy, I did NOT like that he applied to Princeton for her. Was I supposed to feel touched that he applied for her? Amy has her own mind. Ephram should trust that Amy will make the right decisions for herself.

Best Laid Plans
So now we know that Madison lied. Based on what Ephram told Dr. Jake, he and Madison did have unprotected sex which contradicts what she told Dr. Brown in the s2 finale. Huh. I didn’t like her before and this just confirms my original opinion. Over on TWoP, I read that CBS put Dr. Vegas on hiatus. I guess this means that Sarah Lancaster is free to come back as Madison. I hope it’s sooner than later. I want this Madison/baby storyline to be over with already!

I keep wavering back and forth about a potential Hannah and Bright relationship. On one hand, I think they could be good for each other but at the same time, it just seems too convenient. I’d really love to see them develop a great friendship, though. Bright needs more screen time. Oh, and the ketchup children were too cute!

The ending scene with Ephram and Amy was just… aww. I may not agree with their decisions sometimes (see comments on previous episode above) but they’re IT for me. My OTP. They just make me so happy. And when Ephram gave Amy the necklace? *heart melts*

Fun quotes:
Jake: “How did you know?”
Edna: “Because I am a god.”

Edna: “Ephram Brown is dating Amy Abbott, who is the daughter of Dr. Harold Abbott, who happens to be my son, which makes her my grandaughter.”
Jake: “Wow. It’s like a Greek play.”

Dr. Abbott: “You had to build that soundproof room.”

Edna: “I remember the first time me and Irv tried to–”
Amy: “Oh, no Grandma, no.”

In shallow news…
Gregory Smith *still* needs to cut his hair. It’s distracting!

And Emily VanCamp is *stunning.* I’ve always thought she was beautiful but this season she’s just radiant. Not to mention the fact that she’s been kicking ass in the acting department.

sacrifice

Some comments on Sacrifice (I’ve been *so* bad about writing down my thoughts on the episodes lately)…

“Pre-teens gone wild!” — Hee! I really liked the teaser… I thought it was hysterical seeing Andy all riled up about Delia kissing.

Poor Bright. I love B/E’s friendship! I don’t want to see it crumble! As much as I love Ephram, I really think he dropped the ball. I know Ephram’s totally focused on piano/Juilliard/Amy but it’s so sad to think that he can’t even make time to hang out with Bright. The scene when Bright returns the keys to Ephram broke my heart. 🙁

Ahhh, so Nina loves Andy! Like we all didn’t see that coming, hee. I really want those two to get together but I kinda wish that it was Andy who came to the realization first because 1) I think Nina/Jake could have been interesting for awhile and 2) I would have loved to see Andy try to woo Nina! That said, the Andy/Nina/Amanda triangle that seems to be shaping up has me intrigued — I didn’t want to like Anne Heche in the role but I did!

On a shallow note, I loved Amy’s outfit when she was holding the “hooker thong.” The olive bomber jacket and the red headband — so cute!

Anyone know why there’s a rerun next week?

there is a reaction

Let me just say… I wasn’t crazy about this episode. Even with the Ephram/Amy stuff.

*sigh* Dr. Brown. I love you and I know your heart is in the right place but… YOU NEED TO TELL EPHRAM, DO YOU HEAR ME? Do it. Don’t listen to Dr. Abbott.

Speaking of Dr. Abbott, is it just me or did his talk with Dr. Brown seem a bit out of character? He persuades Dr. Brown not to tell Ephram because Ephram and Amy are in love?! I know Dr. Abbott tends to indulge Amy but this just struck me as odd. I mean, Ephram fathered a child and Dr. Abbott’s okay with Amy dating him?

Madison, Madison, Madison. She’s not even on the show anymore and yet she still manages to hover over the storylines. I really need to get over it, don’t I? This storyline won’t be resolved anytime soon so I guess I should just stop my whining.

As for Ephram and Amy, I have to agree with Melissa — I hope tonight was the last time we’ll see the “obstacles for the star-crossed soulmates” storyline. I’ve never understood why writers seem to think that breaking couples up is more compelling than showing the couple together, which is what I would love for Ephram and Amy. I want to see them in a relationship and facing obstacles together. *crosses fingers*

Although I sense an obstacle in the newest cast addition of Hannah (not a spoiler, just speculation)… I wonder what her deal is. I kinda wish they wouldn’t add so many new characters when some of the existing and beloved characters barely have any screentime as it is (Bright, Edna, Laynie).

Loved Bright’s pool party and Dr. Hartman’s wellness walk. Sign me up for both, please! 🙂

My favorite line of the episode:
Dr. Brown [to Dr. Abbott]: “How many times have I told you, I don’t like you that way!” BWAHAHA!

Other great quotes:
Amy: “Why isn’t he IMing me?” Heh. I can relate.

Amy: “I’m totally low maintenance.” Suuuure, Amy, sure.

Dr. Abbott [to Dr. Hartman]: “Doc in a Box.” Hee.

Ephram: “Amy and I broke up.”
Delia: “Already?”

for every action

Squee! Everwood is back! I have missed this show something fierce. And now my comments in list form because I’m feeling a little lazy… 😛

1. For the record, I’m not crazy about Greg’s hair. It’s all floppy and long. Cut. It.

2. Huh. New credits. I like them but I loved the old ones. But! At least Merrilyn Gann is in the credits now. It’s about time.

3. I loved all the scenes showing us what everyone was up to during the summer… Amy in summer school, Bright playing basketball, the Doctors in their new office…

4. … And Delia burning her hats!!! I’m so sad about that.

5. I fell in love with Ephram and Amy all over again in the teaser when she picks him up from the airport. Guh. And the natural way they just kind of glided over to each other to kiss… *sigh*

6. The way Andy hugged Ephram when he got home was so real. Too bad their whole reunion was tainted for me because of the thought of Madison. I really dislike this storyline. I want the whole Madison/baby plot to get wrapped up. Quick. The relationship between Andy and Ephram is one of my favorites and I feel like I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop and it’ll be back to Ephram hating his father. And that kills me.

7. I miss Irv’s voiceovers! I admit that sometimes they could be a bit cheesy but most of the time, they’re really touching (like the ending narration from Last Looks).

8. Ephram not answering Amy’s call. 🙁 I understand that Ephram’s all stressed out about Juilliard but… he needs to chill out a little.

9. Scott Wolf. He hasn’t aged at all! He seriously could have been Bailey from Po5. But was it just me or did he play his character to be a bit too hyper? And what was that look he shared with Nina?! No.

Memorable quotes
— Bright [to Ephram]: “I made 37 baskets. In a row!” (Not enough Bright in the episode!)

— Dr. Brown [to Dr. Abbott]: “There’s only so much wood a man can take!”

— Dr. Brown [to Dr. Abbott]: “I want my chair back!” BWAH!

— Bright [to Amy]: “Maybe that weird feeling you’re talking about is actually a good mood.” Ahhh, so true. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Amy so smile-y and happy. It was great.

— Dr. Abbott [to Jake]: “But you’re like 12 years old!”

Can’t wait for next week — I’m so glad the season’s started!
