everwood on DVD

Squee! Got my tax return today. 😀 I know just what I’m going to splurge on — DVD sets! Now, the question is which one(s)? I want to get Gilmore Girls s1, Smallville s2, Buffy s6 and West Wing s1 or 2… Guh, it’s not going to be easy narrowing it down.

Speaking of DVDs, season 1 of Everwood is being released on DVD! Season 1 was the season of angsty Ephram/Amy *and* Colin… my beloved Colin. If anyone’s interested, the cover art and the extras are listed on TV Shows on DVD. There’s supposed to be deleted scenes, a gag reel, and commentary by Gregory Smith and Treat Williams. I’m a sucker for extras.

I also read that The Apprentice is coming out on DVD in August. I don’t know that I’d buy it but I’d be tempted. Because of Kwame. He was a great competitor. *cough* Heh.

Thanks to Christine for the help with my browser. The font is back to normal!

Enough rambling — I have to get changed to go to the movie theatre (I’m wearing my Gryffindor t-shirt, hehe) to see Harry Potter… so excited!

the day is done

So I’m torn. I can’t say I *loved* the Everwood season finale but I didn’t hate it either…

Madison. Why did they have to bring her back? I thought we were rid of her! And for a pregnancy storyline?!? *bangs head* UGH. All the relationships on this show are headed for a kick in the pants once this secret is revealed (and you know it will be). So I guess the storyline isn’t a waste. Doesn’t mean I have to like the way the tension was brought about. And I am *so* disappointed in how Dr. Brown chose to handle Madison’s news. Ephram is going to be extremely upset once he finds out. I’m cringing just thinking about the potential of another season of tension at the Brown house. As for Madison, I found myself feeling incredibly sorry for her. I mean, who wants to be pregnant *and* alone? She may have everything she wants but she doesn’t have what she needs — support.

Harold/Andy. It’ll be fun watching their “equal partnership” unfold next season. The banter! The Harold eye rolls! Hee.

Andy: “Does that mean I don’t get to make my ‘you look down on your lox’ joke?” BWAH.
Andy: “The offer is good until you say yes.” (DOCTOR LOVE!)

Where is Nina? And Laynie, for that matter? Have she and Amy even made up yet? Humph.

Ephram/Bright. They hugged! Aww. 😀 But Bright said “soulmate (a word that is forever scarred by Dawson’s Creek)!” Bad Bright, no cookie.
Ephram: “You’re the only guy that can call me dude without a hint of irony.”

Ephram and Amy. I have to admit that I’m a little upset that Amy asked Ephram to stay in Everwood for her. I thought I was more of a romantic but while watching the episode, I was really hoping that Ephram would stick to his decision and not let Amy persuade him to give up the summer program. Plus, Ephram has made so many sacrifices for her that it seems only fair that Amy be the one to make the “grand gesture.” My heart leaped when I saw her waiting for Ephram on the plane. Aww. They looked so happy and smile-y. Now *this* is the E/A I’ve always wanted to see — finally getting the timing right and making a decision to be together. *sigh* I hope they have an amazing few weeks in NY.

Dr. Brown’s dreams. I loved the way the closing and ending dreams tied the episode back to the pilot, when the dynamic of the Brown family was turned on its head. It pained me to see Andy’s realization that had Julia not died, nothing would have changed — as much as he would like to think it would have. It’s horrible that it really had to take a tragedy to pull him out of his self-absorbed ways. “It scares me to think what it would take to wake you up.” So, so sad.

It’s going to be a loooong summer.

last looks

I need to play catch up on Everwood and post my thoughts on Last Looks, which was an episode I completely loved. LOVED.

Bright. The poor boy needs a hug. He completely broke my heart in this episode. I’m glad that the writers didn’t go with the “happy ending” route and have him get accepted to A&M after his interview. Not that I don’t want Bright to be happy but just because things like that don’t happen in real life. I’m looking forward to seeing him handle the challenge of college next season. And OMG, I read spoilers but didn’t know about Dr. Abbott showing up at A&M. He has never really been encouraging of Bright’s college aspirations so I was proud that he finally looked past what *he* thought Bright should do.

Ephram/Bright. These two have a real friendship now and it’s so great to watch. I was very surprised when Bright blew up at Ephram. It really showed me how far these two have come with their relationship. I was glad that Ephram realized that he does tend to monopolize the conversation with his own problems and that he needs to be more supportive of Bright.

Madison/Delia. Delia is an amazing, amazing kid. She showed great insight in recognizing that Madison was only around because of her and that it was causing Ephram so much pain. Her “break-up” scene with Madison was note perfect.

Madison: “I love you girly, girl.”
Delia: “Madison, I’m gonna have to let you go.”

Ephram/Madison. I’ve never really been a shipper of these two but I have to say that they had a really beautiful, bittersweet ending. I just loved their last scene. Very well-acted by both Gregory and Sarah. I especially loved the way this scene was shot — with the gorgeous blue sky contrasted with the gritty snow still on the sidewalks. Just lovely.

Ephram: “I’m going to my car, when I turn around, you’ll be inside and that will be that.” *sniff*

Irv’s closing narration was the perfect way to end the show…

“A heart is a fragile thing. That’s why we protect them so vigorously, give them away so rarely, and why it means so much when we do. Some hearts are more fragile than others. Purer, somehow. Like crystal in a world of glass, even the way they shatter is beautiful.”

*sigh*

unfinished business

Ahhh, Everwood how I missed you! Unfinished Business wasn’t the “wow” episode that I was hoping for, especially after such a long hiatus. HOWEVER, I really loved that this episode resolved a lot of storylines yet set up arcs that will probably lead to the season finale.

A few random comments and quotes that I loved…

Bright [to Ephram]: “Sometimes your pride comes before your nads.” Bright seriously has all the good quotes.

Enjoyed the constant reference to Ephram as “jailbait.” He *so* is.

Madison and Ephram broke up! Is it sad that I’m so happy about this? Ah well. It’s too bad, though, that I finally found her to be a sympathetic character in the very episode that they break up. I totally bought her sadness and regret that their relationship didn’t turn out the way they would have liked. One question that is *killing* me is: What exactly *did* Ephram get Madison for her birthday?!? I need to know, lol.

Andy and Nina. I have to admit that I’m rooting for these two crazy kids but I didn’t really like this court storyline with Carl. I’m glad it didn’t last more than an episode. I just thought that, while it was nice to finally get verbal confirmation from Andy about his feelings about Nina in his life, it just seemed weird that he made a court case between Nina/Carl/Sam all about him and how he needed Nina in his life. Nice speech but it just seemed wildly inappropriate.

Bright said “Asshats!” BWAH!

Dr Abbott [to Dr. Brown]: “And if I don’t make myself clear, I encourage you to test me.” Whoa. I’m not sure who I agree with in this whole Amy/birth control situation but eeek — Doctor angst!

LOVED the last scene between Amy and Ephram. As much as I would love to see these two finally make a romantic relationship work, I almost would hate to lose the great vibe and tension they have in their friendship. *sigh* I thought this quote was especially great…

Amy [to Ephram]: “But if she was dumb enough to let you go, she mustn’t have been that perfect.” Aww.

i hate the rain

Rain is evil. *shakes fist at rain* So this morning I wake up to absolutely miserable weather. The rain is insane! It’s pouring like crazy and the wind is so strong. Ugh. There’s seriously nothing worse than taking public transportation into San Francisco on a rainy day. When I get into the city, I figure that since my office is only 2 blocks away from the train station I should be okay since I’ve got my trusty Winnie the Pooh umbrella and my big puffy waterproof jacket to keep my safe. Uh, no. By the time I get to my building, I am SOAKED. Evil, evil rain. Luckily I am a paranoid freak and I keep an extra pair of pants at work so I can change and not have to spend the rest of the day all wet. I so hope it doesn’t rain like that tomorrow. I can’t take it.

So yeah. That was my day.

Quick TV commentary:
YAY for Colin on Everwood!!! I have missed him SO much. Not at all crazy about the hair (Cut it off!) but it was so, so great to see Mike Erwin again. Heisohsocute. 🙂 I’ve heard that he’s working on a pilot for next season. I don’t really care what the show is — I would just LOVE to see him on TV regularly again. I’m crossing my fingers that it gets picked up. 😉

Loved Seth and Summer onThe OC. Their kissing booth scene? So cute. Didn’t much care about the Ryan/Marissa/Theresa (or is it Teresa?) triangle. But I loved the whole uncomfortable dinner table scene — so much like Seth and his situation with Anna and Summer. Hee.

Finally, Sex and the City (don’t read if you don’t want to know about the finale)…

no sure thing

Yup, Ephram and Madison did the deed on Everwood. And surprisingly, I’m fine with it, lol. When I first heard about it, I was dreading the episode but I guess that’s why I love the show so much — there’s no sugar-coating. Ephram and Madison are together. They’re going to have sex. Like normal teenagers. In real life, you don’t always lose your virginity to the person you’re going to end up with. The only thing is that I wish they would make Madison just a tiny bit more sympathetic. I absolutely hated the way she said “sweetie” after Ephram’s… umm, his “scene.” (You guys know what I’m talking about).

Amy/Tommy. UGH. I just hate where this story is going. Just *once* I’d like to see a “bad boy” on a TV show who actually tried and succeeded in being “good.” I’m so tired of the whole “a bad boy can never turn his back on his past” type storylines. I thought the writers were going to surprise me. Guess not. As for Amy, I’m glad she’s finally using her brain and she actually listened to Laynie about Tommy. I totally thought Amy wasn’t going to believe her.

Yay Laynie! I’m glad they brought her back. I wish they would do more with her. 🙁

Andy/Linda. Snooze.

Some quotes I loved:

Bright: “She wants some Brown loving. So dish it out and serve it up hot, my friend.” BWAH!!!

Amy: “I had the right person in my life. Unfortunately, we ran out of time.” *sniff*

Madison: “Ok, you’re not allowed to hang out with Bright anymore.” HEE!

Edna: “Don’t give me crap and call it ice cream!”

Dr. Abbott: “Who was that who fell asleep on the couch watching ‘Reba’ with your mother and I?”

Ephram: “I can’t stand the thought of you being unhappy.” Ephram is the sweetest. EVER.

grammys

Warning!!!

Do NOT read the most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly (the one with the Survivor people on the cover) if you want to remain unspoiled about tomorrow’s episode of Everwood (No Sure Thing). They gave away a MAJOR plot point. I confirmed it by venturing over to a few spoilers forums. There goes being unspoiled. UGH.

THANKS A LOT. Humph.

My running commentary on the Grammys…
I have a crush on Pharrell and Chad from N.E.R.D. I just think they’re so cute. AND they’re all multi-talented and stuff. Hee.

Beyonce. Loved her hair in the performance with Prince. She looked gorgeous. Not crazy about the dress though. I rarely like anything that pink.

Christina. Her performance rocked but what was with the hair?!? Ghastly. And what was with her red carpet dress?

Matthew Perry and John Mayer. *giggles* LOVE them BOTH. I loved seeing them present together. And seriously? I had *no* idea JM was so tall. He was totally towering over MP.

Andre from Outkast had THE BEST acceptance speech. EVER. “Thank you.” BWAH.

LOVED LOVED LOVED Amber Tamblyn’s pin-striped pants. I need to get myself a pair. 🙂

Justin, I love you. But seriously, I wish you hadn’t brought up the whole Super Bowl debacle. Guh. Everyone just needs to get over it.

Ugh. Audio/mic problems. What a surprise. Sad that it had to be during the whole Luther Vandross tribute. Awww! Luther! Singing Power of Love! *sniff*

So kill me but I enjoyed Justin’s Senorita performance and the Black Eyed Peas’s Where Is the Love performance. I have a soft spot for both songs. Heh.

However, I did NOT enjoy Beyonce’s Dangerously In Love performance. Just… meh.

Norah Jones and Sean Astin. They rock. (Plugging Norah’s new album Feels Like Home — out on 2/10!). Hee.

Why in the world is Samuel L. Jackson yelling like that?!? Bizarre.

Eeee! The Way You Move!!! *dances*

Eh… I stopped watching after the Earth, Wind and Fire/Outkast performance. I was dying — it was *that* boring. And long. Geesh — 19 performances? I thought this was an awards show. Crazy.

forget me not

I really enjoyed this episode of Everwood. I was starting to think the writers had lost their minds with the lack of Nina and Ephram/Amy interaction. But nope, it turns out it was a plotline this whole time! I adore Nina (she’s just so so cool) and I was so happy to see her back again. I’m glad she didn’t let Andy get away with being a horrible friend to her. And I felt so horrible for her when Sam crashed the car.

Still don’t like Ephram/Madison. I don’t like the way Madison treats Ephram — like just cause she’s older she’s the be all and end all regarding relationships/feelings, etc. Ugh. She just completely rubs me the wrong way.

I was actually really enjoying Tommy/Amy (Alie, don’t kill me!) but now I feel like I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop what with Tommy lying to Amy about work and getting her a super-expensive Blackberry as a present. I was hoping the writers would do away with the stereotypical bad boy boyfriend thing but it looks like that’s where we’re headed. <-- That's NOT a spoiler by the way. Just some speculation on my part. I also really enjoyed all the Ephram/Amy scenes. The show was really missing something (for me) in the past few episodes without any interaction between them. I'm glad to see that they have the kind of relationship where they can get mad at each other and still come to an understanding. It's so great to see them rebuilding their relationship. Bright rocks. Totally. Some quotes that I loved: Bright: "Bro, you're killing me here, man. All this talking and caring and writing cheesy love songs. Why don't you just hand over your testicles now and get it over with?" (looks in store window and combs his hair) Ephram: "Are you really calling me a girl? Cause you're the one that's actually fluffing your hair right now." Bright: "I have a wingding, ok? It happens." I LOVE YOU BRIGHT.

Bright (to Dr. Abbott): “It was mostly Amy’s idea.”
Can I LOVE Bright anymore than I already do?

Delia (re: Ephram and Madison): “I liked it better when they hated each other.”
Me too. Me too.

Andy (to Nina): “I’m going to spend the night here with my friend.”
Awww.

Amy’s voiceover: “You’ll always be my Dad. And I’ll always be your Amy.”
I’m such a sap. I was totally tearing up during the letter. *sniff*

Also? The preview for next week’s episode? Just about killed me. I’m trying to be good and not read spoilers but that preview is making it SO. HARD.

real world/road rules challenge

Is it just me or are the *same exact* people always doing the Real World/Road Rules challenges? Coral, Darrell, Veronica, Mike, Trishelle, Katie, Shane, etc. — you were all on the previous challenge! I don’t need to see you all again! And where in the world is Jonny Moseley? This new host is not cutting it. At all. I always complain about this show but I’m sure I’ll keep watching. Damn guilty pleasure and all that.

Anyway, Everwood rocked. Of course. No random medical emergency just some good Ephram/Amy and Andy/Nina (yes, she’s back! :)) interaction. And by that, I mean awkward and angsty goodness. Loved Ephram and Amy rebuilding their friendship and I loved Nina even more when she didn’t let Andy get away with being a horrible friend to her.

Some quotes that I loved:
Bright: “Bro, you’re killing me here, man. All this talking and caring and writing cheesy love songs. Why don’t you just hand over your testicles now and get it over with?” (looks in store window and combs his hair)
