JRM and Bend it Like Beckham

I have a new obsession. Well, 2 new obsessions actually.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is the first. And Bend it Like Beckham is the second. Seriously, I *really* don’t need new obsessions.

Now, I realize BiLB has been out on DVD for ages now and the DVD has been sitting in my apartment forever (Yay Netflix!) but I just got around to watching it this weekend. And I ended up watching it 3 times. Mostly because I just totally completely fell in love with the movie but partly because I totally completely fell in love with Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. OMGheisSOHOT!

I really need to head over to Best Buy to pick up my very own copy of BiLB. I must make caps. There’s one scene in particular where he’s wearing a white collared shirt… YUM.

*cough*

In other news, did anyone catch Everwood tonight? Good grief Berlanti! There is no need for Irv/Edna… uh… relations, ok? I almost spit my orange juice at the TV! And still no Nina. For shame.

*squee*

*squee* I am in TV heaven. 😀

SPOILERS for the new eps of Everwood and One Tree Hill follow…

So let’s see… new Everwood last night. Still not feeling Ephram/Madison or Andy/Linda (where in the world is Nina?) — but whatever, my favorite show is back! I’m enjoying Amy’s storyline though I feel totally conflicted about it. On one hand, I feel like the Abbotts are putting too many expectations on Amy without acknowledging her larger issues but then again, I also feel like Amy is taking advantage of the situation by acting out. Gah. I love that this show isn’t afraid to put all the characters through the emotional ringer. I also loved Bright though he didn’t really get the chance to say anything. His facial expressions were enough. *sigh* He needs a hug. Quote of the episode: “Having done what we just did, did we commit spermicide?” — Dr. Brown

And the new One Tree Hill (I watch entirely too many WB shows) tonight was awesome too! Or maybe it’s because I missed the show so much that anything would be good. 😉 I’ve actually come full circle on Lucas — I thought his character was a total snoozefest but I think I like him now that he’s with Brooke. She brings out the playful side in him. He was much too serious before. But seriously, Brooke has GOT to be the most oblivious person ever. How could she not know that Peyton was upset about Lucas?! Nathan and Haley were too cute — Ilovethemohsomuch. They didn’t do much but they were happy. And cute. And that’s how I like ’em. And the biggest surprise — OMG! JAKE! CAN SING! Wow. Total Jake fangirl now.

Fun tidbit for any Real World: San Diego fans out there — I worked with Jamie at Abercrombie (in downtown San Francisco) for a little while. It was a few years ago when I was still in college and I think she was a senior in high school. I don’t think we had many shifts together and I don’t recall ever actually talking to her (hey! There were over 100 employees!)… But I think it’s cool that I can say “I worked with that girl” while watching the show. 😀

Is it sad that I’m excited to see Newlyweds tomorrow? Yeah, I thought so. Heh.

mid-season wrap up

Since it’s close to hiatus time, I thought I would do a little mid-season commentary of all the shows I started to watch this season…

Monday
Everwood – My saving grace this season. The show has continually gotten better and better with each episode. I may not necessarily like the direction of some storylines (Ephram/Madison and Andy/Linda) but I appreciate that the characters are being true to themselves. I do miss Colin, though. *sniff*

Las Vegas – Truly a guilty pleasure. 😀 It’s not really a great show plot-wise or anything (it’s usually downright predictable) but I think it’s a lot of fun. Plus, Josh Duhamel!!! LOVE him. He’s adorable.

Skin – I didn’t even get the chance to watch a whole episode before it got axed by FOX. I recorded the pilot (never got around to watching it and I probably taped over it) and watched about 15 minutes of the second episode. What I saw had potential though I didn’t fall in love. I enjoyed Adam Roam however. *g*

Tuesday
Gilmore Girls – I haven’t been watching this show faithfully like I used to. This season hasn’t grabbed me at all. I don’t really enjoy Digger or Marty and I wish there was more Lane and Paris. And as much as I love Rory, the girl is getting on my nerves.

One Tree Hill – OMG. New obsession. The show didn’t jump out at me right away but I kept watching (pretty much only because it airs right after GG and 24 hadn’t premiered yet). After a few episodes, the show seemed to find its legs so to speak — the improved writing has made me care about these characters. I’ve also found my ship of the season on this show — Nathan/Haley. LOVE. 🙂

24 – Still on my “must watch” list. But it still consistently gets me frustrated. I’m frustrated with Jack’s stubbornness, I’m frustrated with Kim’s hair, I’m frustrated with Tony’s condition, etc. etc. But I guess getting emotionally involved in a show is a good thing.

Wednesday
Smallville – I’ve enjoyed all the episodes this season so far, with the exception of the totally random retro episode. The most recent episode, Shattered, rocked. The acting was fantastic, there was lots of Clark and Lex (and even Clex!), and the storyline was actually captivating — something I was seriously missing from this show. My heart seriously hurt after seeing Lex at the end. *sob* Can’t wait til January.

The O.C. – *sigh* I adore this show. And I love Seth/Summer even more. Die Anna die! hehe. I’ve been hooked ever since it premiered back in August. It’s just excellent cheeky fun. 😀 But if TPTB mess with Sandy/Kirsten — %$^#@! There will be hell to pay.

The West Wing – I watched the premiere and that’s it. 🙁 I always forget that the show is on, probably because it’s on at the same time as The O.C. I still *must* purchase the s1 DVDs but the show just doesn’t have the same magic that it did for me in the earlier seasons.

Thursday
Friends – I have to say that I was definitely not a fan of the Joey/Rachel romance so I’m glad that it was over and done with quickly. I adore Monica/Chandler so I’m happy to see them with an ongoing storyline this season. I can’t wait to see Chandler (he’s my favorite friend!) with a baby. Too cute. I’m so going to miss this show next season!

Tru Calling – Saw the premiere and wasn’t compelled to watch any episodes following. My Eliza love can only go so far. I’ve read the FOX ordered 7 more episodes. Wow. I totally didn’t see that coming. I thought cancellation was on the horizon.

CSI – Still rocks. And now there’s Xander Berkeley (Mason from 24)! Though I found Fur and Loathing to be rather strange. Oh, and there just needs to be more Warrick. Thanks.

Friday
Miss Match – This show is sooo cute. I love what I’ve seen but honestly? Friday nights just don’t work for me. I think Kate and Michael are gorgeous together, though, so maybe I should make it a point to record the show so I can see if anything has happened with them. Anyone know?

Sunday
American Dreams – My precious precious show. I am alarmed that NBC has cut this season’s order from 22 to 18. It breaks my heart. I think this show gets better and better each week. I love everyone in the Pryor and Walker families and I hope that NBC realizes that there are many more stories to tell.

Alias – Still a can’t miss show for me but I don’t obsess over the show as much as I once did. My Syd/Vaughn loving heart just can’t take it! lol. But seriously, I still have yet to fully accept the 2 year time jump. I still feel a little cheated. I wanted to see Marshall and Carrie have a relationship! I wanted to see Dixon get promoted! Agghhh… useless resistance, I know.

Phew… even though I dropped a few shows, I still watch a ton of TV. I’m an addict, hehe.

Still feeling sick. Bah. I need to lie down.

a drop in the ocean

So I did it. I went and made myself a wallpaper site — I’ve named it A Drop in the Ocean and it’s located here. Please visit! 🙂

A TV meme-thing that I stole from Cat and Nicola

Name every show you watch, and favorite character on each.
Alias – Sydney
The Practice – Eugene
Everwood – Ephram and Colin (DON’T make me choose! I can’t!)
BtVS – Buffy
Gilmore Girls – Lane
Smallville – Lana
Dawson’s Creek – Jen
Friends – Chandler
Sex and the City – Charlotte
American Dreams – Meg

Doing that survey made me realize just how much I miss new TV. Rerun season is awful for TV junkies like me. But I won’t have to wait too much longer — I am eagerly waiting the August 5th premiere of O.C. on FOX. I mean, Mischa Barton! And Adam Brody! Whee.

In other news of my weekend, I went and read spoilers for Everwood. I KNOW! Gah. I am so disappointed in myself. I can’t believe I did that — it’s one of the few shows I don’t spoil myself for because it’s just that good, you know?

WARNING: DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN UNSPOILED FOR EVERWOOD —

so…

I Love Colin! The Everwood season finale was amazing — I love the way the writers weave so many different stories together. I can’t wait for next season — damn you Berlanti!

Yesterday my boyfriend decides to break our couch. He kinda jumped on it, I think. Anyway, he ended up breaking a portion of one of the wooden slats at the bottom. Luckily, it’s just one of those cheap-o IKEA couches. Gah, we have to go buy a new one. Rob glued the darn thing back together but who knows how long that’ll hold, lol.

Hmm… Seven on Sunday:

1. Nothing beats the taste of a tall glass of water on a really hot day
2. I sleep most comfortably on my side with a pillow at my back.
3. Three famous people who’s hair I wish I had are Lucy Liu, Kristin Kreuk, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
4. Somethings I wear everyday, aside from underwear, are my contact lenses and a watch.
5. I can’t leave the house without my office keys.
6. The last book I finished reading was Fast Food Nation.
7. When I’m done with this, I’m going to sleep!

my new obsession?

omg, Everwood was SO. GOOD. tonight. Anybody who doesn’t watch it, NEEDS TO. I’m serious. The characters are all lovable and their interactions with each other are so real. And to think this show was created by former Dawson’s Creek exec producer, Greg Berlanti. Anyway, I know Alie won’t see it for a few more days so I’ll only say this… AMY, what is WRONG with you?!? Gah, she needs a double dose of reality. Stat.

I also caught the episode of 7th Heaven — don’t like the show but it seems the WB did a fabulous job of advertising it, because I seriously felt compelled to watch it if only to see the cameos by Jessica Biel and Barry Watson. But really, after about 5 minutes, I was reminded why I don’t watch the show. It’s just way too saccharine and cheesy for me. And I usually looove cheese (see my love for DC). I had a few minor clothing issues — Mary wore her flight attendant outfit to the wedding and Matt wore jeans to give Lucy away. Come on, people! Tell me that’s not strange.

girl scout cookies

Girl Scout Cookies are going to be the death of me.

When I get to the train station after work, those Girls Scouts (they’re evil, I tell you!) are there… taunting me with their Samoas and Thin Mints and Lemon Cremes and Shortbread. It’s insane how compelled I feel to walk closer and closer to the table and shell out money just for a few boxes that I’ll most likely consume in the span of an hour. I severely lack control when it comes to cookies. Yuuummm.

Wow… look at me! I’m actively spreading the Everwood love! 🙂 First it was Alie and now Kate and Marianne too. *happy sigh*

i am an idiot

Don’t I feel like a freaking idiot. hee.

Thanks to Rachel, Alice, Mazzie, Michelle and newbie for clearing up John Mayer’s age for me, lol. What can I say? I can be an extremely gullible person. My only defense is that he said it! On the Grammys! For the entire world to hear! I just didn’t get his point until now. *feels stupid*

Oh! Saw Everwood earlier — So good. It was such a powerful episode — I was in tears by the end. The “revelation” scene between Ephram and Andy was so heart-wrenching but I’m so glad they were able to make peace with each other. I hate it when there’s tension between them. But Laynie’s leaving?!? No! I had just gotten to love her and she’s leaving — come back! And Amy and the Harts continued to grate on my nerves. They are all seriously living in Denial land with regards to Colin. Gah. Anyway, if you’re not watching this show yet, I highly recommend it. You’ll be doing yourself a favor. I promise.

i am in love with roswell

I watched the last episode of Roswell season 1 on the Sci-Fi channel today — and I really really loved it. Back when it was on the WB, I watched the show on and off (don’t know why I didn’t catch it more often, it was on after Dawson’s Creek). It just didn’t interest me that much and I kept seeing Jason Behr not as Max but as Chris Wolfe from DC, lol. Anyway, I missed most of s1 and s2 and started watching regularly during s3. Yes, I know s3 is widely regarded (as is s2 apparently) as a complete mess but I don’t know, there was something that intrigued me about a show that had avoided cancellation twice because of the loyalty of its fans. I didn’t think s3 was all that great but maybe it was because I didn’t have any of the backstory — so when the Sci-Fi channel picked it up, I was so excited to get the chance to see s1 in its entirety. And I really wasn’t disappointed. I loved all the characters (yes, even Tess, no matter how begrudgingly) — and I found myself really caring about all of them. ::happy sigh::

Season 2 starts tomorrow so we’ll see if my happiness lasts much longer — or maybe I should just cut all ties now so I’ll only have happy s1 memories. Hmm…

Monday night’s Everwood episode left me with another favorite TV quote —

Colin (to Amy about choosing between him and Ephram): “Think about what you want. I know what I want Amy, I want you. But you know, that shouldn’t be enough for you. You have to want me too. This me. I don’t expect you to have an answer for me right now, it’s okay. I’ll wait for you. You waited long enough for me.”

Now that’s a love triangle.

mike erwin

After watching a fantastic Everwood tonight, I have a new fan!girl crush on Mike Erwin. *sigh*

As for the episode, it pained me to see Colin (Mike Erwin!) deal with the frustrations of not being able to remember names and places of his past — his sadness and anger definitely came through. I’m glad that he’s trying to develop a friendship with Ephram. But I’m scared to think of what will happen when Colin finds out that there’s more to Amy and Ephram’s relationship than they’re letting on. Speaking of Amy, I found her to be much more of a sympathetic character today — I really felt for her when she was standing all alone during the Homecoming announcement. It was like a manifestation of her current relationship with Colin — even though he’s back, she’s still all alone. Bright really saved the day for Amy when he walked her through the ceremony though. Very cute. Didn’t much like Carl. Nina deserves much better. I can’t tell if he means well or if he has some sort of secret. Hmmm. Much to ponder.
