sausalito art festival

I am so freaking tired. *sigh* I spent last night helping Rob’s brother move to his new apartment — wow, I totally forgot just how much I hate moving. It sucks. I’m never going to move, ever — it would be a total pain to pack all my stuff. I have so much… junk! lol.

And then, I had to wake up at 5am this morning to go to work(!). As a second job (and because I really love radio), I work at various events around the Bay Area for KGO Radio. Anyway, this weekend (yes, I’m working all day tomorrow too! wah!) we’re at the Sausalito Art Festival. Sausalito is a great little town just north of San Francisco after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge — it’s gorgeous. It sits right on the water and there are beautiful homes sitting atop the hills. Very upscale. Anyway, artists from all around the country are at this festival to promote and sell their work — it’s amazing to walk up and down the booths to see the paintings, watercolors, sculptures and photographs. But geesh, I was there at 6:30 this morning and I didn’t get home until 8pm! I was seriously ready to pass out. My feet are *still* killing me. And I have to wake up tomorrow morning and do it all over again. Geesh.

omg! Has anyone seen that TV show on NBC called Meet My Folks? I watched an episode earlier and I could not stop laughing! The premise is that there are 3 guys or girls who get to spend a weekend with a guy/girl and his/her parents. They have various “tasks” that need to be performed or “dirty little secrets” will be revealed about them. And at the end, the parents get to pick the person that their child gets to go on a vacation with. Bwah! On the show that I watched, there was a guy (who was totally hot and his name was Josh! like my huge celebrity crush. hee) and three girls — two of which looked like they had boob jobs. heh. But damn, all of them had some crazy secrets — they apparently have all cheated on ex-boyfriends, one dated a 51 year old because he was her “sugar daddy” and spent thousands of dollars on her, one knowingly slept with a married man, one got fired from her job at a clothing store for having phone sex, etc etc… the list goes on. I was like, how do they get this information?!? But it was hilarious watching the girls try to defend themselves. The information about the girl who dated the older man was that he was 60 — but when she tried to explain herself, she said “Well, first of all, he wasn’t 60, he was 51″ — bwah! Oh, that makes it sooo much better, honey. I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time.

Well, I’ve rambled way too long — but just to make it a bit longer –

The Friday Five
What’s your favorite piece of clothing that you currently own? My tan corduroy sherpa jacket from Abercrombie.
What piece of clothing do you most want to acquire? A long red coat like this one from Banana Republic.
What piece of clothing can you not bring yourself to get rid of? Why? Uh, nothing really. If I don’t like something, I’ll donate it to Goodwill — and I don’t really have clothes with that much sentimental value. With shoes, though, I’m like a pack rat. I have pairs of shoes that I haven’t worn in years.
What piece of clothing do you look your best in? Just jeans, a cute baby tee and a fun belt. For some reason, I’m very big on belts right now.
What has been your biggest fashion accident? WAY back, I used to wear jeans where the waist was really high. AND I used to tuck my shirts into my jeans. *shudder*

darrin’s dance grooves

I went shopping today and came home with Darrin’s Dance Grooves. lol. It’s actually pretty fun — I am determined to learn the routine from Jordan Knight’s Give It To You and be able to perform it at the normal speed. Rob was doing the video with me too — hee! It’s so cute seeing him learn the dance moves. :P

Seven on Sunday:

Seven Stores that Could Put You Into Bankruptcy:
1. Abercrombie and Fitch
2. Banana Republic
3. Crate and Barrel
4. Borders, Barnes & Noble
5. Tower Records
6. Best Buy
7. Bath and Body Works
I know there are more — I’m a shopping whore. :)

yay for short weeks

Whee! Only 3 days of work this week. :) Sooo happy about that.

Rob and I went to the local Old Navy today so he could get some boxers (heh) and I could look at shorts for our trip to Hawaii. It occurred to me that I don’t own a single pair of shorts. I think I have 2 pairs of gym shorts but that’s it. So yeah, I tried on a few but they were all super short! Grrr. I really don’t want half my ass hanging out. ::rolls eyes:: I will find a long-ish (but not too long!) pair if it kills me.

I also discovered John Mayer recently — I love his song No Such Thing. He has an amazing voice. ::swoons:: I must go get his CD. :)

i feel fat

No more coke. No more sweets. No more junk food. I swear. Must exercise. I know I’ve been saying that — but now I have the motivation. I just tried on a cute skirt I bought about a year and a half ago and it barely fits! Grrr!

Anyway, I exercised my check card quite a bit earlier this evening — I went on a bit of a shopping spree. I bought 2 pairs of shoes at Nordstrom (hey, they were both on sale!), a belt at American Eagle and a cute tank at A&F. :) I just got my paycheck today and it’s almost all gone, lol.

It’s been a looong time since I’ve answered The Friday Five — here goes:

Do you live in a house, an apartment or a condo? apartment
Do you rent or own? rent
Does anyone else live with you? yup, my boyfriend Rob and my cousin Warren — two boys! Guess who does most of the cleaning? ;)
How many times have you moved in your life? 4 times — I grew up in Southern CA and lived there until I moved away for college (I went to UC Berkeley in Northern CA). After enduring the dorms (and yucky co-ed bathrooms) for 2 years, I moved to an apartment close to campus with a couple of friends. Then after graduation, I subletted another apartment for a month while I was getting everything settled for my last move to the current apartment where I am now. Whew. I want to stay here for awhile (well, I have to cause I just signed a lease for a year a few months ago) cause last summer, I moved twice in the span of 2 months and it was a serious pain in the ass.
What are your plans for this weekend? Nothing really. Just want to clean the apartment, vacuum and maybe get Rob to watch Minority Report with me when he gets back home on Sunday (are you reading this? can we go please?)

Also: *Huge* thanks to Dirty Rob (:P) for sending The Black Hawk Down DVD! :) You totally made my face light up — Ewan and Josh! You’re the best. Take care of yourself when you’re in Korea.

i’m baaack

It’s so good to be back in the Bay. I love visiting my Dad and my family down in Southern CA but I don’t know what it is, I just don’t feel like it’s my “home” anymore. Sure, I grew up there and it’ll always be a part of me but I can’t relate to the culture or way of life — something. I can’t really put my finger on it but for the first time, it really truly felt like I was visiting and not returning home.

Anyway, I didn’t really do much of anything — just had meal after meal with my family and went shopping (of course!) with my Dad and my cousin. They’re like my official shopping buddies when I visit. I managed to get my Dad’s Father’s Day present while he wasn’t looking and also bought a few tank tops for my trip to Hawaii.

When I got back last night, I discovered that my computer still wasn’t working — the last time I blogged, which was Thursday night, my computer started running reeeeaaaally slowly. And this annoying little window kept popping up that says “Disk Error. Please insert disk… blah, blah.” Grr! I don’t know why it does that — and then when I try to cancel it, it just keeps going and going and going… like the damn Energizer Bunny. Humph. So Rob is looking into the problem for me — and I’ll be taking his computer hostage so I can still blog, update and make wp. :)

shop til i drop

I had a great weekend with my best friend Robyn — I hadn’t seen her since Christmas (!) so I was really excited when she called me 2 weeks ago and said that she was going to drive up to Northern CA and visit me. Whee! I left work early on Friday afternoon (any excuse, right? ha) cause I knew she was arriving roughly at about 4pm. It was so good to see her again — with us, even if we don’t see each other or talk on the phone for months at a time, it still feels the same — like I can tell her anything and she’ll understand. Maybe that’s a product of having grown up together. Anyway, when she got here, I showed her my apartment and then we were lounging on the couch watching Moulin Rouge cause she’s never seen it before (the horror!). ;) Then we went to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco cause we just felt like doing the tourist-y thing — you know, eating clam chowder and looking out at the beauty of the bay. After walking along the pier, we went back home and Robyn made a really yummy dip (cream cheese, sour cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract) that we ate with strawberries. SO good.

On Saturday, we woke up really early for our full day of SHOPPING (our mission was to buy shoes!) I can’t believe I woke up at 9am on a weekend — I’m usually in bed til like noon. heh. Anyway, we headed out to Haight and Ashbury — a quirky little neighborhood in San Francisco that has lots of cool shops, it’s very much like Melrose Ave., if you’ve ever been to L.A or Telegraph Avenue, if you’ve been to Berkeley. We got started at 10:30am and we were pretty much going inside every store — there were so many great clothes and shoes but I gave myself a rule to follow so I wouldn’t spend too much — I couldn’t buy it unless I could wear it to work (I hate the totally strict dress code we have — we don’t even have casual Fridays. grr). I managed to buy a really simple khaki skirt — I’ve been wanting one for awhile, I just never found one that fit quite right. Around 1pm, we had lunch at a really popular tapas restuarant called Cha Cha Cha. Their fried calamari and warm spinach salad are positively yummy. After lunch, we walked around until 3:30pm, but we still hadn’t had our fill of shopping so we decided to head downtown to Union Square and the SF Shopping Center. By the time we got back to the East Bay, it was 7 pm (!). For dinner, we met up with an old high school friend Mikey and had some really great Japanese food at a restaurant in Oakland called The Drunken Fish. If you’re ever there, go check it out.

And of course, all things must come to an end and Robyn left early this morning — now I’m back in my vegging mode. Watching TV, checking out my dailies, and trying to find pictures for a new layout (could it be?). I really should be doing laundry — hmmm.
