ebay + site stuff

I LOATHE non-paying bidders. I don’t sell things often but I bought a final sale blazer online that doesn’t fit so I thought I would try my luck on eBay. The auction ended last Friday and I’ve sent the invoice to the winning bidder and still no payment. I’m going to give it a few more days but it’s never taken this long. Boo. 🙁

Anyway, I’ve had some site stuff on my mind and wanted to see if I could get some opinions from all of you… 🙂

1. So I’ve wanted to spin off High Anxiety onto its very own domain but I’m having some trouble deciding on a name. Maybe creekcaps.com? Or dawsonscreekcaps.com (too long maybe)? Anyone have suggestions?

2. I just moved Sour-Lemon.org to my server (it was previously hosted on a shared server) so I’m currently reuploading all the files. I’m wondering if I should even bother keeping the scans on the site? I haven’t scanned anything in almost a year because I lost the cord that connects the scanner to the computer and I’ve been too lazy to replace it. I’m leaning towards taking the scans down completely but I’m so indecisive that I need to be pushed over the edge. Someone want to give me that push? 😛

Hope everyone’s having a great week! 😀

lazy

It’s been so cold here lately (like, unbelievably FREEZING) that I’ve been much too lazy to update my blog. I spent the entire weekend wrapped up in my goose down comforter and watching The Island. Not a completely horrible movie but not particularly good either. Or maybe I was so disappointed with the ending that it’s completely clouded my judgment. Ewan McGregor was great, though. As per usual. Up next on zee Netflix queue — Elizabethtown. Hey, I have a soft spot for Kirsten Dunst and awesome soundtracks.

OMG. I just finished watching tonight’s episode of 24.

hp gof dvd

Picked up the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire DVD! WHEE. There’s so many great special features that I’ve only had the chance to watch the following:

Deleted Scenes
I’m a sucker for trio scenes so the deleted scenes were great — specifically this scene by the fireplace and this scene on the school grounds (look at how cute they are with their scarves!).

Interviews with the Cast
I never realized how shy Rupert was in interviews. It’s so cute how hesitant and reserved he is when answering questions. Dan and Emma, on the other hand, are enthusiastic and eloquent. They really are a lot like characters in some ways. Some interesting tidbits — Dan has a crush on Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson, Dan is looking forward to doing the kissing scene with Cho Chang in the OotP, and Emma reveals that she had such a hard time getting through the scene in CoS where she runs through the Great Hall to hug Dan that they had to freeze the hug by a few seconds when editing the movie because all the takes were too short (aww!).

Preparing the Yule Ball
This feature totally made me smile! I loved seeing the kids all dressed up but seeing them practice the dance choreography was golden. 😀 And poor Dan. Both he and Mike Newell commented on his absolute lack of dancing abilities. Heh. But my favorite part was when various people were talking about Hermione’s big entrance down the stairs and Dan said “Emma was never ugly, she’s always been quite beautiful, so I was kinda like you’re just even more beautiful.” LOVE. It must be my Harry/Hermione love turning itself into Dan/Emma shippiness. 😛

Anyway, Project Runway (spoiler)!

oscars 2006

OSCARS!!!

A few thoughts from the show…

The opening bit was really funny with Billy Crystal and Chris Rock in the Brokeback tent.

So much George Clooney love! I’m glad he won Best Supporting Actor… just because I lurve him. He gave my favorite acceptance speech of the night. I’m listening to his post-show interviews as I’m typing this and he just said that he blew the Batman franchise. Heh. True. I love that he doesn’t take himself so seriously that he can admit that.

Aww, I really wanted Michelle Williams to win Best Supporting Actress — if only to see a Creeker win an Oscar! And it was so cute to see Busy Phillips sitting next to her. They’re BESTFRIENDS4EVA.

PANTS EQUALITY FOR ALL! Hehe. That made me want to see Chicken Little.

Dolly Parton looks scary. Her boobs are like ten times bigger than her waist. EEEK. :/

What is Charlize wearing? That dress is unfortunate. The big bow is *awful.*

I totally want one of those stuffed penguins.

Three 6 Mafia winning Best Song for It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp was one of the BEST Oscar moments. EVER.

Jon Stewart was a great host. I loved when he was giggling about Three 6 Mafia. I especially loved this joke:
Martin Scorsese – 0 Oscars
Three 6 Mafia – 1
BWAH.

Yay Reese! Another great acceptance speech. There’s just something about her that I find so charming and likable.

Wow, Crash won. Huh. It was a good movie but I didn’t really like it. Now, Brokeback Mountain I loved. I seriously thought it was going to win. That was a big upset.

Favorite Oscar dresses this year: Michelle Williams, Jessica Alba, and Keira Knightley.

rent dvd

Picked up the Rent DVD this weekend! YAY. Is it possible to love it even more on second viewing? Cause I totally do. My only problem with the movie was the lack of Benny and the DVD totally fixes that. The deleted scenes include a few with Benny, in particular one where he and Roger talk about Mimi. This scene redeems Benny in my eyes and I wish they had left it in because the movie ends without really showing us his good side. They also included the deleted performances of Halloween and Goodbye Love (*sniff* I thought this was great, especially the parts between Mark and Roger).

I also watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and March of the Penguins. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t understand the hype for either movie. Charlie had its moments (some funny and some… not so funny) but mostly I thought it was strange. And I didn’t like Willy Wonka’s flashbacks to his childhood. At all. And then, March of the Penguins. I was kinda bored. And I just don’t understand why the penguins don’t evolve so their breeding ground is closer to the water. :/

Anyway, we just got Just Like Heaven from Netflix. I’m looking forward to a fun and fluffy romantic comedy. Plus, Reese!

ladies free skate

SQUEE. The results of the ladies figure skating competition are pretty awesome.
Since Michelle Kwan withdrew from the competition, I didn’t have a favorite for the gold… I just wanted to see some good skating! Didn’t really get that — in fact, I think this Olympics was kind of lackluster compared to the last 4. It wasn’t the best day for the top skaters (oh Sasha — I really wanted her to skate cleanly; she has such a problem with putting 2 clean performances together) but I am SO SO HAPPY that Shizuka Arakawa won.

Worlds next month! That should be fun. 😀

feb books

OMG. The Project Runway reunion show is HILARIOUS. BEST THING EVER. It also made my Zulema hate flare up and I officially think Daniel Franco is creepy. Also, what was up with Guadalupe? She was drunk or stoned. Probably both. Oh man. That was SO MUCH fun.

Anyway, books! Here’s my update for February…

03. General’s Daughter by Nelson DeMille, 512 p
I am loving Nelson DeMille’s books right now. This is an engaging and actually, really sad military detective story. I loved all the layers to the mystery and just COULD NOT put it down. Highly recommended.
04. School of Dreams by Edward Humes, 400 p
I only read this book because it’s about my former high school (a small public magnet school in southern CA — Whitney High). I wanted to see what a journalist would have to say about WHS after spending a year amongst the students. It definitely didn’t capture *my* high school experience but that’s not what it’s about. Instead, the book is a study about the reasons for Whitney’s success and why its students do so well. It’s an interesting read.
05. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray, 432 p
This was recced to me by Sarah. It was a much darker book than I thought it would be but I loved it. My only complaint is that some things aren’t fully explained (ie. the purpose of the Order and what Gemma means to them) but I assume that’s because this book was always meant to have a sequel. I don’t know if I can wait for Rebel Angels to be released in paperback — I want some answers!

Right now I’m reading another Nelson DeMille book called Spencerville. So far, so good. 🙂
