so so hot

Ugh, it’s so hot. So hot that it’s making me extremely lazy. I actually had a lot of time after work today to work on my sites but did I? Nope. I have absolutely no motivation to update my sites lately and I feel like closing some of them. Maybe.

Plus the heat is making my hair all frizzy. I hate that.

Anyway, whenever I’m in a funk, I go shopping. Retail therapy rocks. I bought a pink Coach bag and some cute bras and things at Victoria’s Secret. I was also looking for a pair of jeans suitable for work but I got frustrated and gave up. My short, curvy body just doesn’t look right in jeans made for tall, skinny people. Guh. Also saw this adorable wallet at the Paul Frank store. I almost bought it but I don’t *need* it. But really, when has that ever stopped me? Hee.

Doing the Friday Five:

What was…
1. …your first grade teacher’s name? Rosalie. I think. Or was that her last name? Well, we called her Miss Rosalie. That has to be her first name. Ugh, I have such a bad memory.

2. …your favorite Saturday morning cartoon? It’s a three-way tie between Smurfs, Jem and Beverly Hills Teens. Huh. Were any of those actually on Saturday mornings? I really have a bad memory.

3. …the name of your very first best friend? Robyn. And she’s still my friend to this day! 🙂

4. …your favorite breakfast cereal? Corn Pops

5. …your favorite thing to do after school? *sniff* Don’t remind me that I’m old! I’m not in school anymore. When I was in school, I usually ended up in front of the TV watching Oprah or catching the tail end of my favorite soaps.

Britney Spears concert tomorrow! YAY!

top 10 TV seasons

Because I’m a sucker for TV meme-things — Desert Island TV (stolen from Nicola)…

The Top Ten TV seasons I would bring with me and the first episode I would watch…
1. Dawson’s Creek, Season 3 — True Love (PaceyandJoey4eva!!!)
2. Everwood, Season 1 — We Hold These Truths (happy Colin *sniff*)
3. Sex and the City — will watch any episode from Seasons 1 through 3 (girl talk and fashion, natch)
4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 2 — Surprise/Innocence (LOVE the Buffy/Angel arc)
5. Alias, Season 1 — Almost Thirty Years (purely because the cast commentary for this episode is HILARIOUS)
6. Friends, Season 6 — The One with the Proposal (I love Monica and Chandler — the proposal makes me so giddy, hee!)
7. Roswell, Season 1 — Heat Wave (such a sucker for cute couples)
8. The O.C., Season 1 — Pilot (outsider Ryan rocks)
9. Beverly Hills, 90210, Season 3 — Commencement (this episode never fails to make me laugh with all the great clips from prior episodes)
10. Smallville, Season 3 — Shattered (painful but amazing episode)

Eeee!!! Colin Firth is hosting Saturday Night Live! Guh.

in n out on the OC

Watched The O.C. tonight and…

Seth and Summer were eating IN N OUT!!! YUM. I love IN N OUT. So good. They totally had me craving a cheesburger… and fries… and a strawberry shake… Mmm.

Some random thoughts on the rest of the episode…

— Julie/Luke
The thought of this relationship squicks me out. BUT the execution (so far) has been hilarious. I mean, Luke offering to fix Julie’s DSL?!? BWAH! Gotta love the double meaning.

— Ryan/Theresa/Marissa
I knew that having Theresa around was too good to be true so I tried not get invested in her relationship with Ryan. But geesh! All their interaction in this episode was so great — the uncertainty, the tension, the happiness, the morning after glow! Then the writers just rip her away. I wish they wouldn’t rush storylines, especially one that might have given us more insight on Chino Ryan. Blah. Now it’s back to Ryan/Marissa. I like them just fine but I think that horrible Oliver storyline really scarred them. It’s so hard to be supportive of Marissa after that whole debacle.

— Kirsten/Sandy
“If anyone’s going to take you away in handcuffs, it’s gonna be me.” (Or something like that — I’m paraphrasing). Hee! I barely paid attention to the whole case against the Newport Group but whatever — Sandy will do anything for Kirsten! *sigh* They rock. They’re my most favorite couple on this show. (Well, they’re tied with Ryan/Seth…)

— Seth/Anna
“Confidence, Cohen.” Aww. For once, I actually really liked Anna. I thought her airport goodbye scene with Seth was so sweet. I’ve never been impressed by Samaire’s acting but she really rocked this scene. It really felt like watching two friends who were scared to let the other go.

Other quotes I liked…
Summer: “Kidding! I’m not that dumb, just shallow.”

Seth: “In vino veritas, know what I mean?”
Ryan: “Hardly ever.”

Anna: “Goodbye Blanche.”
Summer: “See ya Rose.”

Seth: “80 is the new 75!”

Seth” “What is up with the AC? My jewfro is frizzing out, I look like Screech!”

Seth: “I don’t know. Discovering fire? Hunting and gathering? Shaving his chest with a butter knife? You could always do that together…”
Ryan: “I do do that…”

Guh. I can’t believe it’s 3 weeks until the next new episode. There’s like absolutely no new TV for me to watch in the next month. What to do, what to do? 😀

Also, is it just me or was it like the millionth time someone tried to kill Lana on Smallville? Good grief.

oscars

YAY LotR!!! 😀 Sweeeep!

Huh. The Oscars were so predictable this year (Charlize, Sean Penn, LotR). But I still enjoyed it. I know, I know, I always complain about awards shows being so boring and long but I totally get a kick out of them.

My comments (written during the ceremony so please excuse the randomness)…

Dresses I liked – Angelina Jolie (she looked really good), Jennifer Garner (beautiful dress color but I’m not crazy about the bangs), Charlize Theron (though I *hated* the bronzer action), Liv Tyler (cute glasses but why did she have to keep taking them off and on while she was presenting?), Nicole Kidman and Catherine Zeta-Jones

Dresses I did not like – Uma Thurman (it was all puffy) and Diane Keaton (what was that?!?)

So happy that Billy Crystal is back hosting. His opening monologue is getting a little old and it drags on for way too long but I find him really funny. Must be my warped sense of humor. A couple of my favorite Billy jokes —

“11 nominations, one for each ending.” (LotR)
“Bush was president, the economy was tanking, and we just finished a war with Iraq!” (the state of the country as compared to 13 years ago)
“There’s a shooting and there’s a beating, it’s like a Disney and Eisner meeting.” (Mystic River)

Johnny Depp looks AMAZING. Wowzers. Mmmm…

Hee. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson plugging Starsky and Hutch. I kinda want to see that movie now…

OMG. Robin Williams freaks me out.

Will Ferrell and Jack Black. BWAH. I’m dying, they’re so funny. I love love loved their song — “You’re boooooring!” It totally should have won best song, methinks.

Yay for Sofia Coppola! I’m glad she won. But seriously, I feel so bad for her when she has to speak — she’s so shy that she’s always so anxious to get off stage. And is it just me but why does it seem like she never thanks Scarlett Johansson in her speeches?

Adrien Brody. Restraining order and the breath spray? Hee!

So so happy that LotR won for Best Picture. 🙂 It was so cool to see all the hobbits on stage together. Aww. I love my hobbits.

In other fangirl-y news, I’m so bummed that there’s no new Everwood tomorrow. The dreaded hiatus has arrived. Boo.

ER and parminder

What in the world was that army tank storyline about on ER?!? So bizarre. I was totally rolling my eyes.

Now, I haven’t watched ER in *years* but when I found out Parminder Nagra (aka Jess on Bend It Like Beckham — my new favorite movie :P) was on the show, I had to start watching it again. It’s that crazy BiLB obsession of mine. Heh.

Friends! There were some great laugh out loud moments tonight — loved that Chandler and Monica have a “Joey room” in their new house and it was a great nod to continuity to have Ross jealous of Rachel having dinner with Mark. BUT! Rachel! She can’t take the Louis Vuitton job! Argh, it’s getting harder and harder to stay spoiler-free for the series finale.

Anyway, I knew there was a reason why I love my alma mater so much. Boalt law school has an official club for The O.C.. They’re setting up a Sandy Cohen Fellowship! OMG. Those crazy law students crack me up.

Doing the Tuesday Threesome (better late than never):

Female Television Characters
Jen Lindley (DC), Sydney Bristow (Alias), Amy Abbott (Everwood)

Male Television Characters
Pacey Witter (DC), Lex Luthor (Smallville), Chandler (Friends)

Television Couples
Pacey & Joey (DC), Colin & Amy (Everwood), and a tie between Nathan & Haley (OTH) and Chandler & Monica (Friends)

i hate the rain

Rain is evil. *shakes fist at rain* So this morning I wake up to absolutely miserable weather. The rain is insane! It’s pouring like crazy and the wind is so strong. Ugh. There’s seriously nothing worse than taking public transportation into San Francisco on a rainy day. When I get into the city, I figure that since my office is only 2 blocks away from the train station I should be okay since I’ve got my trusty Winnie the Pooh umbrella and my big puffy waterproof jacket to keep my safe. Uh, no. By the time I get to my building, I am SOAKED. Evil, evil rain. Luckily I am a paranoid freak and I keep an extra pair of pants at work so I can change and not have to spend the rest of the day all wet. I so hope it doesn’t rain like that tomorrow. I can’t take it.

So yeah. That was my day.

Quick TV commentary:
YAY for Colin on Everwood!!! I have missed him SO much. Not at all crazy about the hair (Cut it off!) but it was so, so great to see Mike Erwin again. Heisohsocute. 🙂 I’ve heard that he’s working on a pilot for next season. I don’t really care what the show is — I would just LOVE to see him on TV regularly again. I’m crossing my fingers that it gets picked up. 😉

Loved Seth and Summer onThe OC. Their kissing booth scene? So cute. Didn’t much care about the Ryan/Marissa/Theresa (or is it Teresa?) triangle. But I loved the whole uncomfortable dinner table scene — so much like Seth and his situation with Anna and Summer. Hee.

Finally, Sex and the City (don’t read if you don’t want to know about the finale)…

*so* pissed

I just deleted a layout. That I was about to upload.

🙁

UGH. I can’t believe I did that. I worked so hard on it too.

As for some good news, my awesome boyfriend downloaded the Sex and the City finale for me. I think I have to watch that now so I can stop thinking about all my hard work down the drain…

*wallows in self-pity*

last time…

I don’t want my blog to feel abandoned so…

The Friday Five

When was the last time you…
1. …went to the doctor?
Umm… well, I went to the optometrist last Monday for a regular eye exam. Does that count? I haven’t been to a regular doctor for a physical in a loooong time. I really should make an appointment.

2. …went to the dentist?
About a year ago? I really need to do this too. My “To Do” list just keeps getting longer and longer…

3. …filled your gas tank?
Heh. I don’t drive. Enough said.

4. …got enough sleep?
Maybe last Friday? I “catch up” on sleep on the weekends. Hehe. Actually, I tend to get too much sleep on the weekends. As if there is such a thing.

5. …backed up your computer?
I haven’t done that with this laptop, though I almost did a few months back when I thought I was going to have to reformat my hard drive. I guess I probably should. Just in case.

Wow. Now wasn’t that exciting? 😉 Off to watch more Roswell
