An intense night of both 24 and Alias has exhausted me… BUT before I head to bed, I had to come here and post the link to the cover art for the Dawson’s Creek season 3 DVDs. Eeee!!! June 29th cannot come soon enough. 😀 Thanks to Mandy for the heads up!

confirmed! dc s3!
I was having a pretty crappy day (for no particular reason really) and then 2 things happened that made me squee with delight:
1. Official confirmation on Dawson’s Creek Season 3 on DVD! OMGOMGOMG! Can you imagine? All the greatest Pacey/Joey moments (True Love, The Anti-Prom, The Longest Day, etc.) immortalized on DVD?!? So. Excited.
2. Finally, after sitting through a less than stellar season 3, Alias hits me with an awesome episode. I was seriously sitting on the edge of my seat for the entire episode. Loved Ricky Gervais (which reminds me that I need to finish watching The Office DVD), loved Vaughn (in glasses *dies*), loved Sark (in handcuffs!), loved Weiss (“method acting!”), loved Jack (“get the defibrillator!”). Basically loved all the men. Hee.
Speaking of men, let me do this great meme (stolen from Linda)…
10 TV Characters You’d Most Like to Have Sex With (HEE!)
1. Pacey, Dawson’s Creek — He’s sweet, romantic and has the ability to make a woman feel like the center of the universe. *sighs*
2. Colin, Everwood — The popular athlete who’s a cutie to boot.
3. Clark, Smallville — Cause who doesn’t love a good boy?
4. Vaughn, Alias — Spies are sexy. Especially spies who can speak French and rock a pair of eyeglasses like nobody’s business.
5. Tony, 24 — The guy gets shot and is back at work about an hour later. That kind of energy and stamina could be good in bed. BWAH!
6. Nathan, One Tree Hill — Equal parts arrogance and sweetness. Perfect.
7. Danny, Las Vegas — He just has the most mesmerizing smile. *melts*
8. Spike, Buffy the Vampire Slayer — That long, dark coat of his never fails to make me swoon.
9. Max, Roswell — So broody and shy with a dark, soulful quality to him.
10. Sark, Alias — He makes evil seem cool.
Guh. I had something else to blog about but after thinking about cute boys for the past few minutes, my brain has turned into a pile of mush. Hee. 😀
DC season 3 on DVD
Dawson’s Creek season 3 has been confirmed for DVD release! 😀
!!!
Now, if you know me at all, you’ll realize this is HUGE! Big news, people. Season 3 is my favorite season. *sigh* Thank you thank you thank you to Mandy for sharing the news! You’rethebestestever!
I think I may have found my new must-watch reality show. It’s a show called Airline (this season they’re featuring Southwest) on A&E. OMG. It’s fabulous. Passengers are throwing fits! Passengers are getting drunk and disorderly on the plane! The poor flight crew and airport personnel have to deal with the crazies! Good TV. 😀 Tonight’s episode featured a man at LAX who got angry because the security personnel wanted to search his shotgun. He even had the nerve to say “Do I look like an Arab?” Ugh. HELLO!!! You’re checking in a shotgun!!! Of course it’s going to be searched! THEN there was a woman in Chicago who was trying to fly home to San Diego. She got to the airport just a few minutes before her flight was supposed to leave but she still had to check-in and go through all the security lines. Of course, she missed her flight. And then, she had the nerve to get mad and yell at everyone in sight. Whatever. Get to the airport on time! When I book a ticket, I am ALWAYS told to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours ahead because of security. It’s like common knowledge, especially after 9/11.
Hee, it’s so much fun to get so riled up about a show. Good stuff.
dc s2 DVDs
I know I’ve been blogging about Dawson’s Creek lately… and I swear I’m trying to come up with more varied topics to write about… but since the season 2 DVDs come out tomorrow, I have DC on the brain. 😛 So I was really looking forward to getting my DVDs but once I saw exactly how many songs were replaced, my anticipation went down to almost nothing. 🙁 I mean, I knew that the financial costs of all the songs precluded many of them from being on the DVD but WOW… they had to replace some key songs.
A few of my favorites that are gone…
— Kiss the Rain by Billie Myers — from the Dawson/Joey makeup scene in Crossroads
— Save Tonight by Save Ferris — from the Dawson/Pacey scene at the end of Crossroads
— Nobody But Me by Save Ferris — from the end of The All-Nighter when the Creekers jump into the pool (LOVE this scene! I’m so sad this song didn’t make the cut.)
— You Get What You Give by The New Radicals — from the Dawson/Joey walking in the rain scene at the end of Sex, She Wrote
— Paper Cup by Heather Nova — from the Pacey/Andie goodbye scene in Ch…Ch…Changes
That doesn’t even scratch the surface! Humph. They better not mess with season 3, that’s all I have to say. Ok. Rant over.
I guess I can console myself with all the pretty screencaps that I can make…
Anyway. No more DC talk. At least for the rest of this blog. Hehe.
Oh! I got my Return of the King tickets!!! Very exciting. Rob and I are going at 11:15 on Wednesday night. Hee. I’m going to get like 3 hours of sleep before work the next day. Nice.
dc series finale dvd
omg, will you take a look at the cover for the Dawson’s Creek Series Finale DVD? Isn’t that horrible?!? I mean, Jen and Pacey’s heads don’t even match their bodies, blech. Gah, I can’t believe someone actually got paid for that.
I went to see Charlie’s Angel: Full Throttle earlier — good, mindless entertainment. I’m still not over the shock of seeing Demi Moore in a bikini. I want to look like that when I’m 40 and have 3 kids! So jealous. If that movie did anything for me, it served as motivation to get my lazy butt to the gym. I have a couple of skirts that are getting a bit snug. Not good. Anyway, a question for anyone who has seen the movie — what the heck was the point of Crispin Glover’s character (Thin Man)?
And now for the Friday Five:
Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it?
I have such a bad memory but I *think* the first person I called my “best friend” was a girl named Jola. We met in first grade.
Are you still in touch with this person?
No. We were in school together until 8th grade, but we grew apart after 5th or 6th grade, I believe. Our personalities just went in completely different directions as we got older.
Do you have a current close friend?
There are 4 people in my life that I consider to be my closest friends — best friends Carmen and Robyn, my cousin Riz, and my boyfriend Rob.
How did you become friends with this person?
Carmen, Robyn and I met in first grade. We’ve been friends ever since. I still can’t get over the fact that I’ve known these girls for around 17 years. But I feel so lucky to have friends who have seen me through some of the best and worst times of my life. My cousin is family so there was no avoiding that relationship, lol. Riz’s family lived with us for awhile and we were forced (hey, I’m an only child — I’m not used to sharing! ;)) to share a room. It sounds cliche but I feel like she’s the closest thing I have to a real sister. And finally, I met Rob officially when I was a freshman in college but I knew who he was prior to that because we went to high school together (he’s a year older).
Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why?
I’d love to find out how the girls from my ballet class are doing. I trained and practiced with the same group of girls from age 6 to about 14, which was when I quit professional training. I’m just curious to see if anyone actually pursued a dance career. There are also a few people from high school that I think about sometimes. But I think I’m just a nosy person. 🙂
dc series finale fanlisting
Okay, so I wanted this to be a surprise but Linda found out (:P) so here it is…
Please join! 🙂
As for the Matchbox 20 concert — Eeeeeeeee! Rob Thomas!!! His voice! Mmmmm. Eeeeeeeee!
*ahem*
So the concert started out with American Hi-Fi. I was outside getting food for most of their set so I didn’t really get to hear much of it — I did see them perform Flavor of the Weak (the only song of theirs that I know) and they were really good. Very high energy and their lead singer is so funny. Right before FotW, he said “I know all of you are thinking ‘Who are these guys?’ Well, I’ve noticed that this next song is the one that has people nudging their neighbors and saying ‘Oh! These guys!'” Heh. That’s exactly what I was thinking.
Sugar Ray was up next — I find Mark McGrath’s voice to be completely lackluster and most of their songs to be completely forgettable (Please don’t hate me!) but they totally entertained me! And wow, Mark McGrath is so cute in person. Wow. Their last song was Fly — and to my surprise, Mark McGrath ran off the stage and ran around the entire lower level of the arena. And then he stopped right in front of my section — he was seriously like 5 rows in front of me! He picked up a girl from the first row who was about 13 and asked her to sing the chorus with him. She was so cute — he was hugging her and they were singing together. That was good stuff.
Then of course Matchbox 20 — The entire time they performed, I had such a huge silly smile on my face. But how could I not?!? Rob Thomas just has one of those voices that gets to you. It’s intense and powerful and so sexy. They opened up with Disease and sang Mad Season, 3 AM, Bright Lights, All I Need, Could I Be You, You’re So Real, Unwell, Real World, Tears for Fears’s Everybody Wants to Rule the World, and a few others that I can’t think of right now. (I have a horrible memory). Between songs, Rob made some really funny comments — about midway through their set, he was like “How are you all feeling?! We got so much more show for you! So if you’re not enjoying yourself yet, then I don’t think we can do anything for you.” Hee. It really was funny! I guess you had to be there. And then later, towards the end of the show, Rob was looking at the people in the upper levels and then he said, “I don’t want to scare anyone, but there is a giant pig up there.” It turns out that someone dressed up in a pink, fuzzy pig costume. I’m talking full body costume with a huge head. So Rob asked “Can we get the pig to come on the stage? I came all the way to San Jose just to see a pig dance across this stage.” So the pig’s friends walked him/her down and for about 5 minutes, every few seconds Rob was like “What’s the status on the pig? Is it coming?” It was hilarious — the guys were just playing some random song and everyone in the arena was standing up trying to see where the pig was. When the pig finally got on stage, it danced around with Rob. Bwah, that was classic. (Apparently, the pig was handing out flyers in support of PETA). Anyway, they ended the night with Push, which was ahhhh… perfect. I’m so glad I had the chance to see them — my new roommate is a HUGE fan and he got the tickets for us. Thanks roomie!
[edited to say: Linda, I got your email — I gotta head to bed now but I will email you, definitely. :)]
grr. argh.
Still sick. I have wasted away my entire weekend sitting on the couch with my trusty box of Kleenex by my side watching reruns of Real World: Hawaii (my favorite!), Las Vegas, and Chicago. I am such a bum. I really find it weird that when i first started watching RW, I was like 14 and all the cast members were 7-10 years older. Now I’m as old or older than most of them! And when I turn 24 in October, I won’t even be eligible to audition for the show anymore! (Not that I want to or anything but that’s not my point). I feel so old.
Anyway, I always tell myself that when a new season of the RW starts, I’m not going to watch because each new one just seems to get progressively worse with all the sexing that goes on — but I find myself powerless to stop watching. Gah. Here I come RW: Paris! I also caught a few episodes of Surf Girls while watching too much MTV and thought that was a cool show… I shall add that to my weekly TV viewing schedule. 🙂
I was just surfing The WB.com and I discovered that the Dawson’s Creek link has been eighty-sixed. *sobs* The show is really over! I’m inconsolable.
fandom stuff
Boo. I’m sick. My face is all red and my nose makes me look like Rudolph and I am plowing through my tissue box like there’s no tomorrow. Plus, it’s been super super hot lately. So instead of being happy and enjoying the weather, I’m actually miserable because the warm weather is making me all sweaty and uncomfortable. Awesome.
I think I may have found my new reality TV obsession for the summer — Fame. I was actually planning on watching the encore of the Dawson’s Creek finale (*sniff*) but I happened to be channel-hopping and found it. It’s some good stuff. Dancing was a huge part of my high school and college life so I love the dancing aspect to this show. I really liked Alex (I think?) from tonight’s group of 6 — he was the one that sang “Just Friends.” His voice was just gorgeous. Wowzers. He made me meeellllltttt. Mmmm.
Fandom meme (what *does* this word mean?) stolen from Jessica:
Fandom: Dawson’s Creek
What drew you to this fandom?
First, it was just the spoilers and then ultimately, it became about the people I met. Back in season 3, I was desperately searching the internet to find spoilers for the season 3 finale. I just *had* to know if it was going to end with Pacey and Joey. I found the spoilers by way of Fan Forum but I also discovered a really great community where I didn’t have to hide my obsessive fan!girly quirks.
Are you involved in the fanfic world for this fandom?
Does reading count? Cause I definitely don’t write fanfic, lol. For DC, I especially love Nik at Pages of True Love, Laura Smith at Never Thought I’d Be Here, and Kaytee (though she no longer has her work archived anywhere). I don’t really have a lot of time to be looking for fic so I usually have to depend on recs.
Are you involved in any (other) web community for this fandom?
I’m a member of the Creek Network. We’re just a group of Creek-loving webmasters who all run a variety of DC sites.
What are your three favorite episodes?
This actually changes all the time (hey, I’m fickle) but for now: Detention (106), True Love (323) and All Good Things…Must Come to An End (623/624).
What was your favorite story arc? (spanning at least three episodes, not necessarily in a row)
Pacey and Joey’s love story in late season 3 and season 4. They’re my most favorite TV couple ever.
Favorite character to love:
Jen. Michelle Williams was definitely the most under-used actor on the show but in the few scenes she did have, she always managed to convey a real depth and vulnerability to the character that made her so likeable.
Favorite character to hate:
Eddie. Gah. “Why won’t you get with me?” Ewwww.
Character who, throughout the series managed to surprise you the most:
Pacey. Always considered the “loser” of the bunch, he has consistently proved to the others and, more importantly, to himself, that he is capable of much more than anyone ever expected of him.
Favorite non-actor person on the set:
Gina Fattore, one of the writers. She has written some of the best Pacey/Joey episodes: Four to Tango (309), The Longest Day (320), True Love (323), and Future Tense (404)… to name a few.
Least favorite non-actor person on the set:
Jason Palmer, a writers’ assistant. He has been responsible for the “Ask Jason” section of the official site for the last 2 seasons, in which he consistently gives the worst answers to questions and he thinks he’s funny. He also wrote the horrific episode Lovelines (619). Just awful.
Strangest name you remember appearing on the screen after the opening credits:
Obi Ndefo. He played Bodie. I just think it’s a cool-looking name and I’ve always wondered how to pronounce it.
Best piece of dialogue:
“I remember everything.” — Pacey to Joey in The Anti-Prom (322). Such a beautiful scene that made me melt.
Best. moment. ever.
Joey running after Pacey to tell him she’s in love with him in True Love (323). I love the way Joey anxiously runs to the dock to catch Pacey before he can leave — and the way Pacey’s face lights up when she says that she’s in love with him.
Shippiest. moment. ever.
When Joey chooses Pacey in the series finale. YAY!
Of all your fandoms, why pick this one for the meme?
It’s the only one that I consider myself an active participant in. 🙂
it’s really over
*sniff*
I still can’t believe that Dawson’s Creek is over. I know it sounds completely corny and schmaltzy but this show has meant so much to me during the past 6 years — it carried me through the craziness of my college years and has been my escape in the years following. And even though there were some bad times (see: pretty much all of season 5), I’d say that tonight’s finale was a fitting and, for me, satisfying way to end the series.
I think much of what touched me about the episode was the dialogue, the music and the callback to the earlier seasons — I really do think that having Kevin Williamson back to pen the finale was a great move. I can’t quite put my finger on it but there was a little more heart behind the words. You can really truly tell that KW loves these characters and wanted to give them a proper good-bye. And many kudos to the actors as well — Michelle, Katie, Josh, James, and Kerr were amazing — they turned in great performances, probably in large part to the good material they were actually given to work with.
I enjoyed all the little behind the scenes clips that the WB showed during the breaks — very cool. I laughed out loud at the show being dubbed in Spanish. I giggled as they made fun of their hair through the years. And I smiled as Katie said in an interview “I was pretty thrilled by the ending. It’s the way it should be, I would say.” 😉
As for the down and dirty details…
Beware: this is totally random — I wrote most of this as I was watching (and re-watching!) the episode —
The teaser was a great opening — it was a completely self-aware moment of the show. Christopher making fun of Joey for watching the show was totally a shoutout to the fans —
Christopher: You are “possess[ed]… every Wednesday at 8 o’clock” by a “supernatural portal of teen angst.”
Joey: “I have an emotional connection to it you wouldn’t understand.” (That’s me!)
Christopher: “Will Sam choose Petey? Will Sam choose Colby? Find out next week as we continue to beat a dead dog all the way to syndication!” BWAH!
I was spoiled so the Doug and Jack’s relationship (and kisses!) didn’t take me by surprise. What *did* surprise me was that I actually liked them and their banter — calling each other “honey” and “dude”, the handcuffs. I’m really glad these two crazy kids will be raising Jen’s daughter — lucky girl. 😉
Aww, Pacey named his restaurant the IceHouse. He *so* loves Joey. 🙂 I didn’t really like the way the writers showed us that Pacey is in a relationship that can’t go anywhere — because the woman is married! And I especially couldn’t stand when he was being beat up by the woman’s husband and his friends. My poor Pacey!
Jen was positively glowing and beautiful throughout the entire episode! *sigh* And her baby Amy is so adorable. She was so cute in the group scene at the IceHouse — “You guys are the best friends I’ve ever had in my life. I love you so much. That is all. Good night.” Why did she have to die?!?
I loved all the Jack and Jen scenes, even though they had me all choked up and crying. 🙁
Jen: “I feel like I never really did.”
Jack: “Jen, you belong. You belong to me.” <– This had me in tears!
I fell in love with Pacey and Joey all over again when they see each other for the first time. They shared a huge bear hug and genuinely happy smiles. Awww. Then their dance at Gale’s wedding was just… wonderful. The little dip and the kiss — yowzers! The sparks are still there. 🙂 I loved the scene at the wake when they were trying to be honest with themselves and with each other — Pacey trying to let Joey “off the hook” — “The simple act of being in love with you is enough for me.” Yet Joey won’t have it — “Pacey, I love you. You know that. It’s very real – so real it’s kept me running. Never ready for it.” But now they are — and it made me so happy to see them together at the end sitting in Joey’s apartment together watching “The Creek.”
I’m glad the resolution to the triangle wasn’t the focus of the episode — and that it was a natural progression. They made it clear that Dawson and Joey had an unbreakable bond of friendship (I really loved their last scene together as they promised each other “You and me, always.”) while Pacey and Joey had the romance and fireworks.
Random observations:
I loved seeing the erase board with the character/story arc chart in the writers’ room for “The Creek.” So cool! I love that. Hee! to Dawson’s assistant saying “You have to talk to Ben today. He has no idea that his character’s coming out of the closet. He’s going to lose it.” Kerr, I’m looking at you!
I also liked that Dawson’s room in Capeside had a bunch of pictures and articles of him and his show — they even recreated Katie’s Rollingstone cover!
What was with all the wine in this episode? It seemed like Joey had a glass in her hand at all times or something. Weird.
Memorable quotes:
Jen (to Jack): “If you think that anything of any value in this world comes at an easier price, you?d be wrong.”
Joey: “Dreams aren’t perfect Dawson. They come true, not free.”
Jen (to Jack): “At first the odds were good. But you know me and odds.”
Pacey (to the gang in response to his going to see Jen first): “Send in the clown, huh?”
Pacey (to Joey): “It’s like I was walking around seeing my life through a smudged window. When I saw you, the smudges were gone. The window was clean.”
Joey (to Jen): “I know who I’m supposed to be with. I’ve always known.”
Grams (to Jen, just after she passes away): “I’ll see you soon, child. Soon.”
Sorry for the rambling — I couldn’t help it, I loved the finale! 🙂
dc series finale
Just 45 more minutes til the Dawson’s Creek series finale.
*sob*
Mazzie, I’m over on the West Coast so it hasn’t aired yet! LOL! But I definitely will blog right after I stop bawling. 😉
