ER and parminder

What in the world was that army tank storyline about on ER?!? So bizarre. I was totally rolling my eyes.

Now, I haven’t watched ER in *years* but when I found out Parminder Nagra (aka Jess on Bend It Like Beckham — my new favorite movie :P) was on the show, I had to start watching it again. It’s that crazy BiLB obsession of mine. Heh.

Friends! There were some great laugh out loud moments tonight — loved that Chandler and Monica have a “Joey room” in their new house and it was a great nod to continuity to have Ross jealous of Rachel having dinner with Mark. BUT! Rachel! She can’t take the Louis Vuitton job! Argh, it’s getting harder and harder to stay spoiler-free for the series finale.

Anyway, I knew there was a reason why I love my alma mater so much. Boalt law school has an official club for The O.C.. They’re setting up a Sandy Cohen Fellowship! OMG. Those crazy law students crack me up.

gallery is evil

OMG. I seriously want to kill Gallery. My boyfriend is trying to help me reinstall it for High Anxiety and let me tell you, it is A ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS. The stupid thing won’t work correctly. I’m *so* close to chucking it out and trying to find some other photo image gallery. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve heard of 4 images and Adobe Web Gallery — does anyone know anything about them? Like if they can easily be installed? I need something pretty much fool-proof or I’m liable to bash my head on the wall in frustration. 😛

There was a bright side to this weekend though —
Michelle Kwan won her 8th national title!!!!!!!!!

🙂

I’m so happy for her. She’s my all-time favorite figure skater and she was positively amazing in her long program. She landed all her jumps flawlessly and her artistry was, as usual, top-notch. I always get tears in my eyes when I watch her skate a perfect program. Silly, I know. I really really really hope to see her take on the Olympics in 2006 and finally win that gold medal.

I finally enjoyed an episode of Friends in who knows how long… Joey was SO funny. Joey doesn’t share food! BWAH. And Ross’s pink shirt! I was dying. That shirt was awful. And can I LOVE Chandler anymore?!? He was so sweet when he was talking about wanting the baby. Awww. Chandler rocks. I didn’t think I really would be so sad about this being the last season but now with all the promos… 🙁

You know, I seem to be the only person who doesn’t watch Joan of Arcadia. Humph. Every time I read people’s blogs, they seem to be gushing over the latest episode. I feel so left out. But seriously, Fridays are not good! I don’t watch TV on Fridays. It’s a… thing. Or something. Guess I’ll have to attempt the download route if I want to be one of the cool kids. 😀

Ooohhh… yay for new Smallville this week! If you’ve seen the promos (or read spoilers), then you know that there’s going to be a guest star and I cannot wait! Hee. [edit] If you want to know who…

mid-season wrap up

Since it’s close to hiatus time, I thought I would do a little mid-season commentary of all the shows I started to watch this season…

Monday
Everwood – My saving grace this season. The show has continually gotten better and better with each episode. I may not necessarily like the direction of some storylines (Ephram/Madison and Andy/Linda) but I appreciate that the characters are being true to themselves. I do miss Colin, though. *sniff*

Las Vegas – Truly a guilty pleasure. 😀 It’s not really a great show plot-wise or anything (it’s usually downright predictable) but I think it’s a lot of fun. Plus, Josh Duhamel!!! LOVE him. He’s adorable.

Skin – I didn’t even get the chance to watch a whole episode before it got axed by FOX. I recorded the pilot (never got around to watching it and I probably taped over it) and watched about 15 minutes of the second episode. What I saw had potential though I didn’t fall in love. I enjoyed Adam Roam however. *g*

Tuesday
Gilmore Girls – I haven’t been watching this show faithfully like I used to. This season hasn’t grabbed me at all. I don’t really enjoy Digger or Marty and I wish there was more Lane and Paris. And as much as I love Rory, the girl is getting on my nerves.

One Tree Hill – OMG. New obsession. The show didn’t jump out at me right away but I kept watching (pretty much only because it airs right after GG and 24 hadn’t premiered yet). After a few episodes, the show seemed to find its legs so to speak — the improved writing has made me care about these characters. I’ve also found my ship of the season on this show — Nathan/Haley. LOVE. 🙂

24 – Still on my “must watch” list. But it still consistently gets me frustrated. I’m frustrated with Jack’s stubbornness, I’m frustrated with Kim’s hair, I’m frustrated with Tony’s condition, etc. etc. But I guess getting emotionally involved in a show is a good thing.

Wednesday
Smallville – I’ve enjoyed all the episodes this season so far, with the exception of the totally random retro episode. The most recent episode, Shattered, rocked. The acting was fantastic, there was lots of Clark and Lex (and even Clex!), and the storyline was actually captivating — something I was seriously missing from this show. My heart seriously hurt after seeing Lex at the end. *sob* Can’t wait til January.

The O.C. – *sigh* I adore this show. And I love Seth/Summer even more. Die Anna die! hehe. I’ve been hooked ever since it premiered back in August. It’s just excellent cheeky fun. 😀 But if TPTB mess with Sandy/Kirsten — %$^#@! There will be hell to pay.

The West Wing – I watched the premiere and that’s it. 🙁 I always forget that the show is on, probably because it’s on at the same time as The O.C. I still *must* purchase the s1 DVDs but the show just doesn’t have the same magic that it did for me in the earlier seasons.

Thursday
Friends – I have to say that I was definitely not a fan of the Joey/Rachel romance so I’m glad that it was over and done with quickly. I adore Monica/Chandler so I’m happy to see them with an ongoing storyline this season. I can’t wait to see Chandler (he’s my favorite friend!) with a baby. Too cute. I’m so going to miss this show next season!

Tru Calling – Saw the premiere and wasn’t compelled to watch any episodes following. My Eliza love can only go so far. I’ve read the FOX ordered 7 more episodes. Wow. I totally didn’t see that coming. I thought cancellation was on the horizon.

CSI – Still rocks. And now there’s Xander Berkeley (Mason from 24)! Though I found Fur and Loathing to be rather strange. Oh, and there just needs to be more Warrick. Thanks.

Friday
Miss Match – This show is sooo cute. I love what I’ve seen but honestly? Friday nights just don’t work for me. I think Kate and Michael are gorgeous together, though, so maybe I should make it a point to record the show so I can see if anything has happened with them. Anyone know?

Sunday
American Dreams – My precious precious show. I am alarmed that NBC has cut this season’s order from 22 to 18. It breaks my heart. I think this show gets better and better each week. I love everyone in the Pryor and Walker families and I hope that NBC realizes that there are many more stories to tell.

Alias – Still a can’t miss show for me but I don’t obsess over the show as much as I once did. My Syd/Vaughn loving heart just can’t take it! lol. But seriously, I still have yet to fully accept the 2 year time jump. I still feel a little cheated. I wanted to see Marshall and Carrie have a relationship! I wanted to see Dixon get promoted! Agghhh… useless resistance, I know.

Phew… even though I dropped a few shows, I still watch a ton of TV. I’m an addict, hehe.

Still feeling sick. Bah. I need to lie down.

gossip and catching up

I talked to one of my best friends on the phone tonight for the first time in such a long time. It felt so good to gossip and catch up with her cause it’s been *so* long since we’ve done that. I’m really horrible at keeping in touch and going to colleges in different parts of the state didn’t help. But it makes me so happy to know that in our case, growing up doesn’t mean growing apart. I may not know what goes on in her daily life but I know the big things, the important things. And that means a lot to me.

I used to think it was weird that I would still call Carmen my “best friend” when the reality was that we would only see each other maybe twice a year when I would visit Southern CA or that we only talked on birthdays and holidays. I thought that maybe I was just being nostalgic because we were so close back in high school and because of my painfully shy nature I didn’t have too many close friends in college or maybe I was just kidding myself and I didn’t want to believe that we weren’t each other’s best friends anymore. I was so confused about her place in my life and vice versa that I forgot that she really does know me best. We’ve known each other since we were like 6 and she’s been witness to and even shared some of my best and worst moments — and that’s something I won’t be able to share with anyone else. Even though we don’t see each other often, when we do, it’s so easy to get back in the groove of talking and laughing and enjoying one another’s company.

Hmm. I just realized that I rarely talk about anything personal on my blog — I hope I didn’t bore anyone to tears with my rambling. I had some thoughts in my head and I just really needed to write them down. My apologies if anything above makes absolutely no sense. Since graduating from college, I have pretty much forgotten all rules of proper grammer. I’m sure I put those damn commas in the wrong places and I make use of the fabulous run-on sentence far too much. I’m also heavily medicated at the moment (yes, I’m sick for what’s like the 10th time this year) so I’m sitting in front of the computer in a bit of a haze. Anyway. Time for bed.

laid back

Urrrgggh, back to work tomorrow. Work is evil.

Anyway, I had a pretty laid back weekend — on Friday, I hung out with my best friends, Carmen and Robyn, at a friend’s house in the city. Everyone was piss drunk (heh) and I found it highly amusing to be the only person who was completely sober. The one thing that kept cracking me up is the way Robyn kept saying “yo” at the end of every sentence — she doesn’t normally talk like that. And geesh, can that girl chug down a beer! I mean, dayum. 😛

I spent a few hours earlier surfing Fan Forum for DC spoilers — hey, at least I can be prepared for any cringe-worthy D/Jo scenes. There are quite a few early season premiere spoilers which made me snicker — it might not be such a bad season after all. 😉
And finally! CTS is thinking about putting out DC DVDs — I definitely want to get my hands on S1, 3 and 4. Go here to vote — DC DVD Survey.

Seven on Sunday:

Seven jobs you would Kill For —
1. Professional shopper
2. Britney Spears or Janet Jackson back-up dancer
3. Set designer for movies or TV shows
4. Joshua Jackson or Tom Welling’s personal assistant
5. Travel Critic
6. Promotions Director at a company like Disney
7. To sit at home and do nothing, ie. watch TV and play with my sites all day 😛

carmen and robyn

My two best friends are coming up to visit this weekend! It’s weird, the three of us don’t talk or see each other often (mostly cause I’m bad at keeping in touch and I live on the other side of the state), but I feel like they’ll always *know* me. I mean, sure, I have friends from college but they’re not the ones who saw me through my “growing pains” — all the awkward moments that, as hard as you try, you can never really forget. They’re the ones who stood by me when my mom passed away, gave me moral support when I had my first real crush on a boy, and hugged me tight as I was leaving for college. I can’t wait to see them. 🙂

Hawaii countdown: 15 days!

dinner with an old friend

I just got back from having dinner with a friend I’ve known since we were like 3. We met cause our dads work for the same company — and still do. For like 25+ years, I think. Then we went to elementary school together. Yup, first through eighth grade. He knew me back when I wore huge eyeglasses and had braces. Oh, the horror. Anyway, it was really cool to see him and catch up (we both left sunny southern CA after high school– he went to NYU and I went to CAL) — we had a great time laughing at the memories of our younger selves. Ah, good times.

Hmm… plugging Amy cause she’s stalking me over here in CA. Just kidding — she’s on vacation and she’s like, seriously, 30 minutes away from me. 🙂

shop til i drop

I had a great weekend with my best friend Robyn — I hadn’t seen her since Christmas (!) so I was really excited when she called me 2 weeks ago and said that she was going to drive up to Northern CA and visit me. Whee! I left work early on Friday afternoon (any excuse, right? ha) cause I knew she was arriving roughly at about 4pm. It was so good to see her again — with us, even if we don’t see each other or talk on the phone for months at a time, it still feels the same — like I can tell her anything and she’ll understand. Maybe that’s a product of having grown up together. Anyway, when she got here, I showed her my apartment and then we were lounging on the couch watching Moulin Rouge cause she’s never seen it before (the horror!). 😉 Then we went to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco cause we just felt like doing the tourist-y thing — you know, eating clam chowder and looking out at the beauty of the bay. After walking along the pier, we went back home and Robyn made a really yummy dip (cream cheese, sour cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract) that we ate with strawberries. SO good.

On Saturday, we woke up really early for our full day of SHOPPING (our mission was to buy shoes!) I can’t believe I woke up at 9am on a weekend — I’m usually in bed til like noon. heh. Anyway, we headed out to Haight and Ashbury — a quirky little neighborhood in San Francisco that has lots of cool shops, it’s very much like Melrose Ave., if you’ve ever been to L.A or Telegraph Avenue, if you’ve been to Berkeley. We got started at 10:30am and we were pretty much going inside every store — there were so many great clothes and shoes but I gave myself a rule to follow so I wouldn’t spend too much — I couldn’t buy it unless I could wear it to work (I hate the totally strict dress code we have — we don’t even have casual Fridays. grr). I managed to buy a really simple khaki skirt — I’ve been wanting one for awhile, I just never found one that fit quite right. Around 1pm, we had lunch at a really popular tapas restuarant called Cha Cha Cha. Their fried calamari and warm spinach salad are positively yummy. After lunch, we walked around until 3:30pm, but we still hadn’t had our fill of shopping so we decided to head downtown to Union Square and the SF Shopping Center. By the time we got back to the East Bay, it was 7 pm (!). For dinner, we met up with an old high school friend Mikey and had some really great Japanese food at a restaurant in Oakland called The Drunken Fish. If you’re ever there, go check it out.

And of course, all things must come to an end and Robyn left early this morning — now I’m back in my vegging mode. Watching TV, checking out my dailies, and trying to find pictures for a new layout (could it be?). I really should be doing laundry — hmmm.

amy rocks!

Awww, Amy said I was a sweet person! ::blush:: I’m seriously going to cry — ::sniff:: — but at the same time, I have a huge smile on my face. Thanks so much — you’re a total sweetie. 🙂

You know, I never thought it was possible to make (good) friends online but in the time that I’ve been posting on messageboards and blogging on my site, I’ve discovered that it is *entirely* possible — just finding one thing in common can be the spark that gets the relationship going. I remember back in December when I was looking for information about Host Rocket, I noticed a post by Amy over on Fan Forum on a thread regarding the company. I sent her a private message asking about file uploading and FTP and she was nice enough to write me back — and that’s how our history of site stalking (hee!) began. 😛

So thanks to all my friends who make my web experience a great one — *hugs*

whee!

Yay! My best friend Robyn is going to be coming up next weekend to visit me! 🙂 I’m very very excited ::jumps up and down:: — we barely ever get to see each other or hang out cause I live (for now, maybe) in Northern CA and she lives in Southern CA. She knows me and my obsessions really well cause one of the first things she said was “Let’s go shopping!” 😀 Shopping is my favorite hobby. Hee. Can’t wait.
