Before I forget, just wanted to do a quick Hawaii post…

Hawaii was amazing. I’ve visited many times now and each time I love it more and more. For me, there really isn’t a more perfect vacation spot.

Aww man, I miss Hawaii. My first day back at work was *harsh.* I had 250+ emails to wade through and all I could think about was getting some more sun on the beach. Guh.

Anyway. Enough wallowing.

I finally got my Harry Potter book on Saturday afternoon (stinking black-out!!!). And finished it Sunday night. Thoughts to come…

I AM SO UPSET.

So right before I head over to Borders to pick up my Harry Potter book, Rob and I notice that there’s a black-out on the other side of our block… the side where the Borders just happens to be.

But I walk across the street anyway. Just in case, you know. And OF COURSE, it’s closed. %$#@! Why couldn’t they have some kind of emergency generator in the store for situations JUST LIKE THIS?!? I want my book!

I wore my Gryffindor shirt and everything. Humph.

I started getting ready for the trip to Hawaii (squee!) this weekend… bought flip flops, beach towels, sunscreen, shorts (ugh, I don’t typically wear shorts but they’re a necessary evil), and of course, a swimsuit. Trying on swimsuits was… NOT FUN. I don’t really have body image issues but… blech. I’d rather not have to try on bathing suits again. Ever again. *shudders*

So… I finally managed to finish up sour-lemon.org. Does anyone even remember that I bought that domain months back? lol. Anyway, I basically moved all my wallpapers and scans and combined them into one big multimedia site since I was getting tired of maintaining separate sites. There’s nothing new… yet. But there *is* a new layout! Please visit!

hp and the goblet of fire trailer

The Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire trailer is online. So. Much. SQUEE. The shots of the trio from the past movies are so cute. Plus, the Harry/Hermione shipper in me loved seeing Hermione yell for Harry when he was fighting the dragon (or at least, I think — it was a very brief shot). Aww. I can’t wait for November.

On a sad note, it looks like American Dreams has been cancelled (this is Chad Darnell’s blog — a guy who used to work on casting for the show — he also works on Lost and Alias so his entries are always fun to read). 🙁 I’m so disappointed in NBC. But even more than that, I’m really sad that the season finale ended up being the series finale. It just doesn’t feel right to have the show end with Meg leaving the way she did. *sigh* There’s no other way to say it so… this sucks.

I started making caps of my Dawson’s Creek season 5 DVDs for High Anxiety and wow, it’s kinda painful, lol. This is my least favorite season — horrible storylines and annoying new characters (Karen, Professor Wilder) — make these episodes tough for me to watch again. However, I’m actually warming up to Audrey again (her downward spiral in season 6 really killed the character for me) and also enjoying Charlie, played by none other than Chad Michael Murray. Hee. But maybe that’s because I keep thinking he’s Lucas from One Tree Hill, except with hair. But I’ve only watched the first 2 episodes so we’ll see how the rest of it goes…

My Girl Scout cookie order finally came today. Mmmm, they are so heavenly. I got home from work, started watching TV, and proceeded to eat almost an entire sleeve of Thin Mints. Good grief. I need to practice some self-control.

The girls’ performances on American Idol were pretty disappointing tonight (I thought the guys were *much* better last night). I only liked half of the girls (Nadia, Jessica, Carrie and Vonzell) — the rest were very mediocre performances. Since I made a few guesses on who’s going to get voted off on the guys side, I’ll pick a few from the girls. Let’s see — my money’s on Amanda, Janay or Lindsay. They’re definitely the bottom 3 for me, anyway.

206 more days or something like that. I’m sure I’ll be attending the midnight book release party so I can pick it up immediately. Hee.

I’m sure this information has made the rounds already but I’m just so excited I *had* to blog about it…

JK Rowling has finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and her publishers are going to announce the release date tomorrow!!! Squee! Such exciting news. I really hope we won’t have to wait long — I’m thinking it’ll be sometime in June, just like Book 5. I know I’ll be at work tomorrow morning refreshing The Leaky Cauldron every 5 seconds. Hee.

Also at TLC, there are a couple of newly released pictures from Goblet of Fire and one of them is of Harry/Hermione. Whee! It’s a good day to be a fangirl.

Lord Voldemort has been cast in Goblet of Fire — Ralph Fiennes! Good choice, I approve. Kel = shallow. Heh. 😉

So Rob and I watched Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle over the weekend… BWAH! I don’t know, I must have really weird and twisted humor cause I thought the movie was hilarious. You have to suspend belief a bit and also not be easily offended by stoner humor but otherwise, A+! I just about died of laughter when Harold and Kumar were singing along to Wilson Phillips. So. Funny.

Doing the Daily Dirt:
1. When is your birthday?
October 11. I’m going to be 25 this year. Guh.

2. If you change when your birthday was, would you?
Nope, I like October.

3. What was your favorite birthday party you ever had?
I think it was my 13th (or maybe 12th? crap, I have the worst memory) birthday and I had it at a roller rink. Aww, that was so much fun. 😀 However, I still vividly remember the outfit I was wearing and wow, it was horrible. I wore a black long-sleeved v-neck top, white shorts (the long ones that were cool back in 92), a really poofy black headband, and black flat mary janes. OMG. How embarassing. The next time I visit my dad I’ll have to hunt the pictures down and BURN THEM.

4. Do you have any original birthday traditions?
Nope, not really. I don’t even have cake on my birthday… oh wait, does going out to dinner with friends count as an original tradition?

5. Do you do any of the unoriginal birthday traditions, such as adding an extra candle for good luck, being the first to cut the cake, or smearing your name on your cake and putting it on your nose?
No… although I used to always try to get the day off from work, hehe. I remember on my 22nd birthday, I took the day off and ended up sleeping the entire day. That was awesome. Aww, I miss those extremely lazy, post-college, “I don’t want to grow up!” days.

Off to check out the blooper reel on my new 13 Going On 30 on DVD. Aww, Jennifer Garner! She’s so smiley and happy in this movie. Love her.

home sick

I can’t sleep.

I got sent home from work today for being sick (I’m a sneezing, coughing mess) and I slept earlier from about 11am until 4:30pm. So now I’m trying to go to sleep (I’m going to attempt to go to work tomorrow) and I can’t. I’m like, wide awake.

I watched the MTV Movie Awards and I learned 3 things:
1. Paris Hilton is a robot. Why does she *always* stand with her hands on her hips?

2. Lindsay Lohan can’t dance. (Well, she can but not in the same league as the You Got Served dancers.) Ouch.

3. Jake Gyllenhaal is really, really cute. Really.

I’m still in a Harry Potter state of mind so I’m going to do this meme (stolen from Miss Windy)…

Sometime in the summer of 2001. My college roommate Angela and my best friend Robyn would talk about the books and I figured I’d check out what the hype was all about.

Were you hooked instantly, or did it take a while?
Instantly. There’s just something about the Wizarding World that really makes me want to believe in it.

Did you instantly fall in love with any specific character?
Harry. I’ve adored Harry since the first chapter of the first book.

Favorite…
Professor: Lupin. I just loved his relationship with Harry in PoA.
Marauder: Tie between James and Sirius. The inseparable pranksters.
Gryffindor: Hermione — smart and bookish but unfailingly loyal and brave. Love her.
Slytherin: Snape. Or maybe Draco, even though I don’t really find anything sympathetic about his character.

How long did it take you to read…
Book 1: One night. I wanted to finish it right away just to get to the next 3.
Book 2: One night.
Book 3: One night.
Book 4: One day.
Book 5: 2 days. This book was a tough one for me — the tension and the darker tone made it more difficult for me to read.

If you were in Harry Potter…
What house would you be in?
As much as I’d want to be in Gryffindor with Harry, I’d most likely be in Ravenclaw.

What would your pet be?
An owl. Something low maintenance. Plus, I don’t like rats (ugh) or cats.

What would your wand be?
After looking at the wand selection at Alivan’s, I’d want the Lignum Vitae wand — strong wood with the essence of Dragon’s whisker.
