fall TV schedule

My fall TV schedule kinda sucks. It’s so heavily weighted on Thursdays. I guess the Tivo and VCR are going to get lots of exercise this year…

Sunday
09:00: Desperate Housewives (premieres 9/25)
I’m looking forward to the addition of Alfre Woodard. Not to mention her hottie son, played by Mehcad Brooks. He seriously made me do a double take in the finale last season. YUM.
10:00: Grey’s Anatomy (premieres 9/25)
I was going to put The West Wing on the schedule but I haven’t seen the last season and a half so it’ll probably be difficult for me to figure out what’s what. I follow TWW much better on DVD anyway.

Monday
08:30: Kitchen Confidential (premieres 9/19)
I’m not really a fan of sitcoms but I’ll make an exception for Bradley Cooper. *sigh* I’m a little worried about Bonnie Sommerville, though. She annoyed me to no end on both Friends and The O.C.. :/ Let’s hope she doesn’t make me want to claw my eyes out on this show.
09:00: Prison Break
So far, so good. If it doesn’t work out, I’m only watching for Wentworth Miller anyway.

Tuesday
08:00: Gilmore Girls (premieres 9/13)
Last season really turned this show around for me. I didn’t have high expectations for it considering the disappointment of season 4 (barring the Rory/Dean affair). But I found it to be one of the more engaging seasons. I can’t wait for Luke’s response to Lorelai’s proposal and despite the fact that I dislike Logan, I want to know if his relationship with Rory has continued and how it may be heightening her estrangement from Lorelai. It definitely looks to be a promising season.
08:00: America’s Next Top Model
My Wednesdays are overloaded so I’ll be watching/recording the Tuesday reruns. I hope this cycle isn’t as predictable as the last.
09:00: Supernatural (premieres 9/13)
Jensen Ackles. Should there be any other reason?!

Wednesday
08:00: One Tree Hill (premieres 10/5)
This one’s not definite yet. I still have to watch the finale (which has been sitting on my hard drive since May — that’s how motivated I am to watch it) and then I’ll decide. Last season really killed all the characters for me. Damn you, Mark Schwann.
08:00: The Apprentice: Martha Stewart (premieres 9/21)
So I like Martha Stewart.
09:00: Lost (premieres 9/21)
What happened to Walt? What’s inside the hatch? What do the numbers mean? I need answers.

Thursday
THURSDAYS SUCK. TOO MANY SHOWS, TOO LITTLE TIME.
08:00: Alias (premieres 9/29)
Vaughn better not be a double agent. Or I will be so pissed.
08:00: Smallville (premieres 9/29)
08:00: The O.C. (premieres 9/8)
I love this show so much. Please, please, please tell me it’s recovered from its sophomore slump.
08:00: Everybody Hates Chris (premieres 9/22)
Holy cow. This show looks freaking hilarious. I’ve seen the same promo many, many times this summer and it never fails to make me laugh.
09:00: CSI (premieres 9/22)
09:00: Everwood (premieres 9/29)
Ephram cut his hair!!!
09:00: Reunion (premieres 9/8)
The concept intrigues me. I’ll definitely be giving it a try.

Friday
I still don’t watch TV on Fridays. Not that there’s anything to watch anyway. I mean, Ghost Whisperer? No thanks.

Saturday
See above.
Huh. I just looked over my TV schedule. There’s a lot of shows… I may have to cut back. Damn.

OMG. I want this Harry Potter iPod. I would totally buy it if it wasn’t bundled with the audio books. GRR.

laguna beach

It was a lazy weekend for me… I just love it.

I met Nicola yesterday (Rob and I took her to buy a TV) and she’s every bit as awesome as you would expect. It’s funny because I was kinda nervous about meeting her so when I opened the car door for her to get in, I wasn’t paying attention and rammed the door right into her leg. How embarrassing. Anyway, it’s so nice to finally be able to put a face to a name! 🙂

I had a Laguna Beach season 1 marathon yesterday. If you’re a fan, you definitely need to rent the DVDs, specifically the third disc. There’s lots of deleted scenes, interviews (from before and after the filming of the show) and featurettes (I especially love the one where LC shows off her house — damn, she is loaded). I don’t really have many friends who watch this show but I have some comments…

I love Kristin. There. I admit it. I know she’s snobby and loud and probably thinks a little too highly of herself… but she has fun and doesn’t care about what other people think of her. She’s great for bringing in the drama. That doesn’t mean I side with her regarding the Kristin/Stephen/LC triangle, though (I do, however, prefer Kristin and Stephen as a couple to Stephen and LC). I think Stephen’s to blame for that mess. He obviously wants to be with Kristin but can’t seem to let go of LC as the rebound girl. UGH. It makes me nuts. I can’t understand why LC just won’t move on.

Can’t stand the “brunettes,” Morgan and Christina. Why are they always talking about morals?! And is it completely horrible that I laughed when Christina had her Broadway audition? I hope she doesn’t actually believe she can make a living out of singing. :/

Love Lo and Trey — the 2 of them were like the unexpected stars for me. Trey because he was so mellow and Lo because she was so damn funny (without really meaning to be).

I’ve missed a few episodes of the second season but I can definitely say I prefer the cast of the first season far more. The second season brought Jason (total player — UGH), Alex M (awful girl who asks another girl’s boyfriend to the formal — who DOES that?), Jessica (poor girl lets Jason walk ALL over her), Taylor (Booorring), and Casey (I’m not convinced that she’s not actually a human Barbie doll). These new kids don’t hold a candle to the original cast.

OK. Enough crappy reality show talk. I need to get my fall TV schedule in order. I’ll save that for my next entry.

Last but not least — I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to Alie! 🙂

random ish

Some of the random, random stuff I’m thinking about…

Hurricane Katrina. 🙁 I can’t watch the news anymore because all the images just make me want to cry. Stupid nature. If anyone wants to help, The Red Cross is taking donations. Every little bit helps.

The CD/DVD drive on my laptop no longer wants to play CDs. WTF. And of course it chooses now when I want to rip my new Death Cab for Cutie CD. Stupid thing. It only reads DVDs now apparently. That’s fantastic. My laptop is only a couple of years old too. GRRR. ARGH.

Emily VanCamp and Chris Pratt are DATING?!? Since when? Holy cow. I won’t be able to watch them interact on Everwood the same way anymore. It’ll be too weird thinking of them as siblings when I know the actors are DATING. They’re messing with my head.

So You Thing You Can Dance is starting to disappoint. The routines have horrible choreography (and some cringe-worthy music) and the dancers don’t seem all that into it anymore. I don’t really think any of the finalists are very good (*cough*Snow*cough*), to be honest. Is that mean? I do enjoy Ryan and Melody, though — Ryan because he can do cool breakdance moves (HOW can he breakdance on his head and not break his neck?!) and Melody because I love her lyrical dance style (plus she’s filipino!).

Ahh, it’s finally summer in the Bay Area. I’ve never understood why our summer is September/October. Whatever, I can still wear tank tops and flips for another few weeks!

I may be going on vacation to Australia (!!!) with my dad after Christmas. SQUEE. I really really really hope we manage to pull this trip together. I’ve always wanted to go to Australia. *sigh*

It’s almost midnight and I’m stuffing my face with Rocky Road ice cream. YUM. Is it any wonder why I don’t lose any weight? Heh.

That’s it for now… only 1.5 days left of work then 3 DAY WEEKEND. YES.

prison break

Just wanted to send my thoughts out to Amy and Allison and everyone else affected by Hurricane Katrina. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. *hugs*

So I remembered to watch the series premiere of Prison Break Monday night and I liked it. BUT. The story was a little too far-fetched for me (and I’m someone who has no problems believing Jack Bauer has had 4 incredibly crappy days or Sydney Bristow is a superspy) — I mean, WHO in their right mind would *intentionally* get arrested so he can break himself and his brother out of prison?!? Makes no sense to me at all. But once I got past that, and the cheesy dialogue (“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer” — come ON!), I actually found myself wanting to find out what happens next. Especially at the very end with the… you know. EEK. I also really liked the set up for the government conspiracy plot against Lincoln… that’ll keep me watching for the next few episodes to see where the writers go with the story.

Plus, there’s always the eye candy. Wentworth Miller is cuuuute. Whenever Mariah Carey’s video for We Belong Together is on, I always watch it so I can catch a glimpse of him, lol.

Anyway, FOX is rerunning the premiere on Thursday, I believe… so there’s another chance to catch it if you missed it!

So it’s official. The Fall TV season has started. YAY. Speaking of which, where in the world is my Entertainment Weekly Fall preview issue? That’s the issue I look forward to the most every year. Hurry it up! 😛

mtv vma’s + more

Did some driving this weekend. I think I’m getting better. 😀 I’m more comfortable with speed and my turns are definitely improving. I still can’t park to save my life and unprotected left turns make me incredibly nervous but… I’m getting the hang of it. I actually enjoy it now, which is, seriously, a bit of a shock to me. I think I have to amend my goal of taking the driving test before my birthday… October is coming up TOO soon. Maybe by the end of the year? *shrugs* I’m hesitant to set another date… in due time, I guess. 🙂

Laguna Beach on MTV is my newest guilty pleasure. I know, I know… it’s a horrible show. BUT. They’re beautiful, spoiled, rich teenagers. Spending all their parents’ money. Clique wars. Love triangles. Oh man, how could I not love it?! I even asked Rob to rent the season 1 DVDs and rip them for me so I could watch the episodes I missed. I’m a dork. But I can’t miss one second of… Kristin flirting with her friends’ significant others and showing no shame whatsoever, LC fawning all over Stephen when he pays no attention to her, Jessica allowing Jason treat her like crap… Ahhh. So much drama. I LOVE IT.

So. The MTV VMA’s. A few random comments —

Why does P. Diddy (can’t call him Diddy yet — I just got used to calling him P. Diddy) always have a freaking toothpick in his mouth? I don’t get it.

I love Kelly Clarkson. She was so shocked when she won Best Female Video. “I don’t have a posse so I brought up my friend Ashley.” AWW.

OMG. MC HAMMER!!! NO. WAY. I’m impressed — the man can still dance. That was AWESOME.

Hilary Duff is WAY too skinny.

Not sure if I like Kanye West but I sure do like his music. Gold Digger is a catchy song.

Anyway.

I’m almost done updating this site. I cleaned out the cliques and adoptions pages since I haven’t even looked at those things in AGES. I deleted all my affiliates (sorry, guys) because half of the links were dead. And now I’m contemplating what to do about my joined fanlistings section. It’s out of control. A good majority of the listings have moved and I’m too lazy to find the new urls. I’m thinking I should just purge the whole thing and start over. Or maybe I should just get rid of it completely. I’m so indecisive. *sigh*

Damn. It’s time for bed. Do I really have to go to work tomorrow?

oc promo + fandom meme

I’m currently trying to update my resume. What a complete PAIN. UGH. It’s driving me crazy. I wasn’t actively looking for a job (I’m actually very content working on the sales side of advertising) but one of my contacts at an agency I work with approached me about possibly taking a job there as an Asst. Media Planner, which would be the planning and buying side of the industry. I was really flattered when I was asked and then I found myself seriously considering the offer… I’ve always toyed with the idea about moving over to the agency side but never gave it serious thought until now. The only problem is that I would have to take a severe pay cut (which I’m SO not happy about and I’m not even sure I can afford to — living in the Bay Area is expensive) but the opportunity may be worth it in the long run. I don’t really know what to do. I’ve only told a few people I trust at work (don’t want to raise any red flags if I don’t have to) and the advice I’ve been given has been mixed. Argh. I’ve decided to at least take an interview so we’ll see what happens…

Ok. Back to the regularly-scheduled fangirliness.

I just saw the promo for season 3 of The O.C.. AWWW. I’m such a sucker for pretty people playing on the beach. I’m so ready for the new TV season to start. I’m tired of reruns and reality shows!

I love memes (mostly because I can blog without *really* blogging, hee)…

3. Which makes you gasp outloud/talk to your TV the most?
4. Which do you do the most art for?
5. Which will/do you miss the most?
B) For each of your favorites, list the following:
1. Favorite Episode
2. Favorite Character

A) List Five of your TV Fandom Favorites
Dawson’s Creek, Everwood, The OC, Veronica Mars, American Dreams
1. Which makes you cry the most? Everwood. Hands down. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much for a TV show as I did for the season 2 premiere. Guh.
2. Which makes you laugh the most? The OC. Sometimes it’s the witty dialogue and sometimes it’s the completely unbelievable scenarios (most of the time involving Marissa).
3. Which makes you gasp outloud/talk to your TV the most? Veronica Mars
4. Which do you do the most art for? Dawson’s Creek. When I was making art (I’m kinda lazy now, heh), I just felt the most inspired by DC.
5. Which will/do you miss the most? American Dreams. It was cancelled WAY before its time.

Dawson’s Creek
1. Favorite Episode: Episode 615, Castaways. An entire episode devoted to Pacey and Joey. How could I not love it?
2. Favorite Character: Jen
3. Favorite Premiere: Tie between the Pilot (so many classic scenes) and the season 4 premiere, Coming Home (Pacey and Joey still in love after their whirlwind summer *sigh*).
4. Favorite Finale: Season 3, True Love. Joey running to the dock to tell Pacey she’s in love with him and then running away for the summer together remains one of my favorite scenes from the show ever.
5. Why is it one of your favorites? It was the first show I really LOVED. I feel very connected to it… maybe because in my mind I link it to my college years? All I know is that I continue to watch the show on DVD and in reruns and love it as much (or maybe even more) as I did when it was still on the air.

Everwood
1. Favorite Episode: Episode 107, We Hold These Truths. Colin’s first episode and I was immediately in love. Plus, the flashbacks of Amy, Colin and Bright are so adorable.
2. Favorite Character: Can’t choose between Colin and Amy. They’re the best.
3. Favorite Premiere: Season 2, The Last of Summer. I cried like there was no tomorrow.
4. Favorite Finale: Season 1, Home. Notice how I love everything that involves Colin?
5. Why is it one of your favorites? The show isn’t afraid to address controversial topics (ie. abortion episode in s1, Ephram losing his virginity to an older girlfriend in s2). Not to mention that the characters are played by an amazingly talented cast. I always wish the show would receive more recognition than it does.

The OC
1. Favorite Episode: Pilot episode. Nothing can beat Ryan’s introduction to the world of Orange County. Welcome to the OC, bitch!
2. Favorite Character: I’m torn. I love Ryan and Summer equally.
3. Favorite Premiere: Season 2, The Distance. I just love the cab scene in Portland when Ryan and Seth run back to each other. They are so in love.
4. Favorite Finale: Season 2, The Dearly Beloved. A tragic episode that injected some life into the show and created great momentum for season 3.
5. Why is it one of your favorites? Pretty people in beautiful southern CA creating drama for themselves. What more do you want?

Veronica Mars
1. Favorite Episode: Episode 110, An Echolls Family Christmas. Duncan/Weevil/Logan interaction. YAY.
2. Favorite Character: Veronica
3. Favorite Premiere: n/a. While I enjoyed the pilot, I don’t particularly think it’s a great or strong episode. It took about 4 or 5 episodes for the show to really grow on me.
4. Favorite Finale: Season 1, Leave it to Beaver. Ahhh, the culmination of the season’s biggest mystery. Sooo satisfying.
5. Why is it one of your favorites? Love the mix of teenage drama and mystery.

American Dreams
1. Favorite Episode: Pilot. The teaser is probably one of my most favorites of any show. Ever. All the characters are introduced in a short time and all I want is to get to know them. I especially loved the way the teaser ended on Meg’s smiling face as she danced along to American Bandstand. So great.
2. Favorite Character: Meg. Her hopes and dreams for “something more” is something I can definitely relate to.
3. Favorite Premiere: See above regarding the Pilot episode.
4. Favorite Finale: Season 1, City on Fire. Meg and Sam caught in the middle of race riots. *sniff*
5. Why is it one of your favorites? A great ensemble cast and superb storytelling. I miss it so.

finished!

So I finished off Veronica Mars yesterday. It’s amazing how quickly I went through the episodes. I seriously couldn’t stop until I was done with the entire season, lol. It’s not so much the “mysteries/cases” that reeled me in — it’s the characters. They’re the real draw. I started to care about what happened to them (well, that’s not really true for Lianne or Celeste, heh). Now I can’t wait for season 2 (and finding out who’s at Veronica’s door)! And of course the DVDs come out on my birthday. What perfect timing.

Well, I’m off to finish packing. Our flight leaves at 9am so we have to wake up really early (5:30AM!!!) to be ready when the airport shuttle arrives. I’ll be back in a week — Aloha!!! 🙂

vmars marathon

Thanks for all the support with the driving, everyone! All the kind words mean A LOT. Reading everyone’s comments have made me more psyched to learn… I even convinced Rob to take me out tomorrow morning to practice — let’s cross our fingers that it goes well.

Rob and I have been having a Veronica Mars marathon. We spent Saturday night watching episodes 2-11… we got so into it that we stayed up until 4am! I don’t have many comments really — mostly because I know what’s coming (that’s what I get for always clicking on spoiler links and episode commentaries, lol). I do have to say, though, that I LOVE Weevil. He makes me smile, like really wide. Awww. He’s probably my favorite character, with Wallace and/or Duncan coming in second. My favorite episode so far has been An Echolls Family Christmas… I guess I’m a sucker for group episodes. Plus, seeing all the guys together playing poker (and Duncan/Logan had the same boxers, hee) made me swoon. VM has such an attractive cast. Anyway, off to watch more episodes…

Countdown: 3 days until Hawaii!!!

veronica mars

Finally got a chance to watch the pilot of Veronica Mars. And I liked it (but is it just me or does Kristin Bell remind anyone else of Allison Mack?). 🙂 I even managed to get Rob to watch the episode with me. Too bad I already know what’s going to happen by season’s end… I guess that’s what I get for reading my friends’ thoughts on the show when I hadn’t even watched a single episode, lol. Anyway, does anyone have any idea why in the world UPN is airing the season out of order?!? I don’t understand. Rob and I almost watched the second episode saved on our Tivo until we realized it was episode 6. And the most recent episode aired was episode 10. %$#@! I guess I should download the episodes we’re missing? Guh. What a pain. Anyway, yay for VM! I’m glad I hopped on the bandwagon.

Countdown: 2 weeks until Hawaii!
