wedding venue search

Aaaahhh, I need a weekend from my weekend. I spent the majority of my 3 days in Southern CA with Rob in a car driving all around Orange County visiting possible wedding venues. So I’m tired. It’s a lot of work! But I found 2 venues that I absolutely love — both are spectacular. I’m just hoping that the costs work out. *crosses fingers*

I never really thought I was superstitious but I’ll share pictures once we have the location pinned down. I’m hoping we’ll be able to take care of this in the next few weeks! 😀

summer movies

Haven’t been doing much except HATING WORK. Argh. Clients are especially needy and my boss is all strung out and getting on my nerves. 🙁 SUCKS.

AND my company just won the California Lottery as a client so guess what?! That means I can NO LONGER win the lottery. Sure I can play, but I won’t be seeing any money should I happen to win. GREAT. How am I going to finance my wedding now?! GUH. (Sorry for all the CAPS. I can’t help it).

Speaking of the wedding, Rob and I are going to be in Southern CA visiting our dads this weekend for Father’s Day so we’ve picked 6 venues to visit. I’m crossing my fingers that one of them will work!

Anyway, it’s the movie blockbuster season and so far, I’ve checked out 2 of the billion sequels that are coming out this summer…

Pirates 3
Meh. There were too many things going on and it was waaayyy too long. Plus, the multiple Jacks were totally weird. :/ I did find myself feeling so sad about the fate of Will and Elizabeth, though. That is ROUGH.

Ocean’s 13
Well, OF COURSE, I loved this movie. 😀 George, Brad, Matt… awesome! It was so much better than Ocean’s 12. Thank goodness. I mean, it’s not an original movie and it was pretty darn predictable, but WHATEVER. That’s cool with me. I still highly recommend it for a rockin’ good time.

Next up… I totally want to see Ratatouille!

tv wrap-up

I have to share another photo of Diesel…

I’m such a proud Mommy! 😀

Anyway, it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged about TV so I thought I’d get started with a TV wrap-up for the season.

Up first: Monday shows! Beware spoilers…

24
*yawn* This season was a huge disappointment. So much potential but not enough follow through… like what happened to President Logan? His ex-wife stabbed him and we don’t find out what happened to either of them. Or to Aaron. Now that I think about it they never explained what happened with Walid or to President Palmer. But anyway, I didn’t care for this season because of the introduction of the Bauer family and their antics. I mean, why introduce Philip and Graham now? And Marilyn and Josh? I didn’t care about them at all. Not to mention the fact that the whole storyline completely felt like the writers were just making it up as they went along. UGH. I did enjoy the finale, though, because I got to see Buchanan and Jack working together again. YAY! The last shot was depressing, however. *hugs Jack* I hope next season is an improvement.

Heroes
Not much to say except that this is a *great* show. I love that the finale settled the first “chapter.” I just hope that Peter, Nathan, and Matt are okay. 🙁 I haven’t read spoilers in ages (for any show) so I have no idea if it’s been revealed that they’ll be back. I hope so. Anyway, is Sylar dead? Because it didn’t seem like it. But then again, none of the other heroes seemed to be too concerned that his body was NO LONGER ANYWHERE TO BE FOUND. That confused me. :/ My favorite part of the finale, though, was seeing Molly and Micah interact. Usually I don’t like child actors (cause they’re rarely good actors) but these 2 are awesome. 😀

I’m actually home sick today (I think I ate some bad sushi last night) so I decided to catch up on the 2 most recent episodes of Studio 60. Before it went on hiatus, I was a little bored with the show but watched it because there was nothing on TV at 10pm on Monday nights. I didn’t even miss it while it was off the air these past few months. I forgot I had set it for a season pass on my Tivo so I was pleasantly surprised to find 2 episodes waiting for me. I was even *more* surprised to find that I really, really enjoyed them both! If the remaining episodes are as good, I’ll be sad to see the show go.

diesel

I feel like I need a weekend from my weekend. I’m incredibly exhausted.
First of all, my allergies acted up so I spent a good part of the weekend sniffing and sleeping more than I normally would. Not how I wanted my weekend to go. UGH.

Second of all, Rob and I got a dog! 😀 He’s a little shih-tzu puppy and we’ve named him Diesel. Isn’t he the cutest?! I just wish he would sleep through the night! The breeder warned us that he would cry at night because he’s so used to having his siblings around him for warmth. But I didn’t realize how loud his little cries would be! So for the past 2 nights, he’s woken me up at least 3 times during the night. 🙁 I’m crossing my fingers for a full night’s sleep tonight!

puppy

Not much blogging since I’ve been working loooooong hours. And I have to catch up with an obscene amount of TV.

BUT. I do have a piece of news to report. I think Rob and I are getting a dog. !!! YAY. So this makes us NEGATIVE in our wedding savings. Ahhh, we’re off to a great start. Hee.

the proposal!

OMG, I can’t stop looking at wedding websites… I’M ADDICTED. Help me. I think Rob and I have ONE detail pinned down, though — we’re probably going to have the wedding in Southern CA. Our families and most of our friends live down there so it just makes the most sense. One decision down… about a million to go!

Apologies in advance for all the blogging I’ll be doing about wedding planning. :/ I hope you guys don’t get too sick of me.

So the proposal story! 🙂

As you guys know, Rob and I were in Monterey last weekend for a belated anniversary trip. On Saturday night, we did the 17 Mile Drive at Pebble Beach. It’s GORGEOUS. We tried to time it so that we would finish up in time for our dinner reservations at Roy’s, which is located at a golf course at the beginning of the drive. We actually finished the drive with about a half hour to spare and I happened to mention to Rob that I loved the stop at Spanish Bay, which is a beautiful shoreline picnic area. Rob suggested that we go back to Spanish Bay and I was going to argue that we just go straight to the restaurant but I just went with it. I had NO CLUE about anything at this point.

When we got back to Spanish Bay, we decided to go for a walk on the sand. After a few steps, I quickly decided it was a bad idea because it was FREEZING and I was getting sand in my heels. Roy’s has a dress code so I wasn’t exactly wearing “beach attire.” Hehe. On the way back to the car, Rob said that he had an anniversary present for me. I still didn’t suspect anything. My thought was “YAY! Present!” So I sat in the car and attempted to get the sand out of my shoes and after a few minutes of Rob rustling in the trunk, he sat in the driver’s seat and was holding Bub (our teddy bear that is ridiculously spoiled)…

Bub was wearing a tux and I knew something was up at this point. His cute little tux was embroidered to say “look inside my jacket…” !!! I started freaking out (internally) at this point and it took me a while to figure out how to open up Bub’s jacket. When I finally got it open, there was a little pouch inside and I pulled out the ring. I said “What is this?” (as if I didn’t already know!) and then Rob started tearing up (awww!). Then he said something like… “Kel, I love you. Will you marry me?” I honestly don’t remember exactly what he said. It was a totally surreal moment. Anyway, of course, I said “Yes!” I also added “Thank you!” BWAH. I have no idea why I said that. We looked at each other and just started laughing. Then to top off all our silliness, Rob took the ring from me and almost put it on my right hand. WE WERE SUCH A MESS. 😀

I’m still totally giddy from the whole thing. So… a couple of pictures!

Where we got engaged! Spanish Bay at Pebble Beach… Isn’t it pretty?

And Bub in his tux! It was totally “us” that Bub was a part of the proposal… 😀

my e-ring

I’m super tired and honestly, way too lazy to write up my proposal story so for now, here’s a picture of my engagement ring:

I just LOVE it. It’s so shiny and pretty. I kept staring at it during work today.

Hmmm, I really need a manicure. Stat.

In TV news, it’s Upfronts week! NBC’s was today and there’s nothing really exciting to note except for the following…

Heroes is expanding its universe with 6 stand-alone episodes revolving around new characters and their back stories. I love this show so I’m sure these Origins episodes will be just as awesome. This means 30 new Heroes episodes. Woot!
Friday Night Lights is moving to Friday nights at 10pm. I’m so happy the show’s getting a second season but I just hate that the show’s stuck on Fridays. UGH. But maybe that’s my own hang-up… I don’t normally watch TV on Fridays. Hopefully this move will be a good thing since it’s away from American Idol and other heavyweight shows that air on Tuesdays.

I’m half-watching and half-listening to tonight’s episode of 24 and it’s totally upsetting me. This season is totally awful. 🙁

spidey 3

OMG. It has been freaking HOT here these past few days. *fans self* I hope the weather stays nice for the next few days cause Rob and I are taking a quick trip down to Monterey/Carmel for the weekend. It’s a belated little getaway for our anniversary. 😀

Anyway, I saw Spider-Man 3 on Saturday morning. 10am showing! HEE. My friends and I are dorks. We didn’t want to deal with the crowds so we thought a morning showing would be best. I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’ll just say that I was a tad disappointed. There were too many storylines going and not enough follow through. But I was entertained and I guess that’s all I can ask for in a movie. Pirates 3 is next!

The Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix trailer played before Spidey 3 and… WOW. It looked absolutely amazing on the big screen. I am *so* excited for HP5. 😀 Which reminds me… I need to start my re-read of the books soon!

And because my old roommate Jimmy just got engaged and he keeps asking me to upload music, here’s a mish-mash of recs for y’all —

conan in sf

Conan’s in San Francisco this week. I love Conan! I tried to get tickets to see any one of his shows but I was ignored. Rejected, really. 🙁 Oh well. That’s okay, though, cause there’s always YouTube! Some awesome Conan highlights…
