back to reality

I’m back from Kaua’i. *sigh* It sure was tough going back to work today and catching up to over 300+ emails.

Rob and I had an amazing vacation even though United was at it again and totally ruined our departing flight back to LA. We were supposed to leave Saturday night at 8pm and had even boarded the plane when the flight attendants said there was a mechanical problem they were trying to fix. We deboarded and waited around for 2 hours before they determined that it could not be fixed, the flight was going to be cancelled and we were going to be rescheduled for 2pm the next day. Sure, it was nice to have an extra night on the island on United’s dime but at that point, we just wanted to be home instead of dealing with the line to get our accommodations vouchers and then another line to be shuttled to the hotel. UGH. It was seriously painful. Our time on the island, though, was super relaxing and fun (I have the sunburn and awful tan lines to prove it!) and I’m so glad we had that time to enjoy each other’s company after the wedding.

Speaking of pics, here’s one that my best friend Robyn took of Rob and me before the wedding… we decided to see each other before the ceremony to get all our pictures out of the way. This was taken right after our “first look” — we look so giddy!

YAY! More pics soon.

Thanks so much to all of you for all your well wishes, especially Kelly and Sarah for the awesome cards. It was so nice to come home to them. :)

Lastly, I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to my best friend Carms! Love ya!

women’s gymn aa

First, I just want to wish my husband Rob (weird!) a happy belated 30th birthday. It was actually yesterday but we were out sightseeing on the north shore and I was too lazy to blog about it. :D

So it’s 7pm Hawaii time… Rob’s taking a nap after a very tiring day at the pool (hee) and what am I doing? I am refreshing my browser every few seconds checking on the scores of the women’s gymnastics all-around competition. Gawd, how I love the Olympics.

And because I don’t think it has aired yet (warning: spoiler ahead)…

dad’s bday + bachelorette

I’m here… somewhere.

My Dad’s birthday party last weekend was a hit. He was totally surprised — I thought he was going to start crying from the emotion of it all! That’s pretty amazing considering that he is NOT the type of person to outwardly show what he’s feeling. Awww.

And then this past weekend was my AWESOME bachelorette weekend. It was definitely what I needed after a terrible Friday at work. I really have the best girlfriends ever — they completely surprised me with the activities and events they had planned throughout the weekend. I am so lucky to have such thoughtful friends in my life. *sniff*

Rob’s going to be in Vegas this weekend for his bachelor party so I’ll be sure to take time out of working on wedding tasks to share some pics of these recent events with all of you. ;)

birthday weekend

Ahhh, I left work at a reasonable hour today so I finally have time to sit down and blog. I know it’s halfway to the weekend already but I never got the chance to blog about what I did last week on my birthday! :)

Here’s a very quick recap –

Wednesday
Diesel got neutered. Poor little guy. He was so sad when we took him home from the vet. Look:

He had to wear that “Elizabethan collar” so that he wouldn’t lick his wounds. :(
In other Diesel news, he has learned to roll over! Awww.

Thursday
BIRTHDAY! I didn’t want to go to work (I mean, it’s my DAY!) but my managers brought me a yummy raspberry cake and presents and I got to leave early, so that made up for it. :D I went home to rest before dinner and whaddya know, the fire alarm in my apartment building goes off and I had to stand outside in my sweats. ARGH. (I think one of our neighbors burned their dinner and that set it off). When the fire department finally turned the alarm off, Rob and I dropped Diesel back at home and went to a yummy Vietnamese place for dinner. Mmm. And of course, I had the famous cupcakes for dessert. Finally at around midnight, Riz (my cousin) rolled into town. YAY.

Friday
Riz and I spent the day walking around downtown San Francisco in the pouring rain (!) to visit a couple of bridal salons. She’s the bestest. :D First we hit Bella Bridesmaid where I had her try on TONS of dresses. Mwahahaha. We picked some definite contenders that I’ll share here on the blog once I get the chance to take my other bridesmaids to see them as well. I also dragged Riz to the Bridal Galleria to visit the 2 Monique Lhuillier dresses that I’m considering for myself. (I don’t think I’ve posted any updates to the dress search so I’ll have to do that when I get closer to making a decision — guh, it’s so HARD!). She liked both dresses so that didn’t help my indecisiveness at all. :/

The rest of the weekend was really low key. Riz and I didn’t have any other specific plans… we did some shopping, went to IKEA, ate lots of filipino food, sat around in front of the TV. It was so much fun. I haven’t spent that much time with her since Christmas so it felt great to catch up.

Finally, I have to thank Alie SO MUCH for the thoughtful birthday present… she sent me the Rubber Stamper’s Bible from my Amazon wishlist. It was a wonderful surprise — THANKS again!

I have to write up a TV post soon!

quick update

Just briefly popping in to say THANK YOU to all of you for the birthday wishes. You have no idea how happy they made me. :)

I had a fantabulous birthday weekend with my cousin lounging around and stuffing myself silly. And yes, I got my birthday cupcakes! Chocolate and vanilla with the yummiest buttercream frosting. Mmmm.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to another hellish week at work so hopefully I’ll get the chance to post a real weekend update once it’s all over…

28th birthday

YAY! It’s officially my BERF-DAY!

It’s kinda ridiculous how excited I get about my birthday. I mean, I’m 28! It’s pretty much past the point of celebrating, don’t you think? :D

So it’s off to bed and another fun day at work (*note the sarcasm*)…

good stuff in october

Work is still sucking (too many deadlines this month!) but I have to focus on the positive and there’s actually good stuff for me to look forward to…

1. 3-day weekend. Thank goodness for Columbus Day! Though I think I’ll probably be doing a little work from home anyway. There’s too many things going on that I really can’t afford to be swamped when I get back to the office on Tuesday.

2. My birthday is on Thursday! WOOT. The big 2-8. Damn, I’m old. :/ I told Rob I want cupcakes from Tea Cake Bakeshop. Hopefully he remembers. Mmmm. I’m salivating just thinking about it.

3. My cousin is visiting for my birthday. And I’m taking next Friday off of work so we can hang out in the city. I’m dragging her to a couple of bridal salons. Hey, she’s my Maid of Honor! She has to help me with wedding stuff! I’m sure she’s looking forward to that, hehehe.

In other news, I have decided to take up scrapbooking. I have no idea where the heck the inclination came from but there you go. I even went out and bought some patterned paper, cardstock, stickers, and a paper trimmer today. I honestly don’t have a creative/artistic bone in my body so this is going to be interesting. :D

I just downloaded Britney’s single from iTunes. I didn’t like it when I first heard it but it’s totally grown on me. You should download it too!

tv wrap-up 3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Alie!

The new fall TV season is right around the corner and I am GOING TO FINISH LAST SEASON’S WRAP-UP if it kills me.

Beware spoilers…

Lost
I don’t really remember much leading up to the season finale. OOPS. I do know that the second half of the season was *far* better than the first. As far as the finale, I vaguely remember the following:
– I liked Jack again. Mostly because he was crazy and suicidal.
– Hurley attacking the Others with the bus. That rocked.
– Future Kate is *gorgeous.*
– Jack and Juliet’s kiss bugged the heck out of me. *twitches* DO. NOT. BELONG. TOGETHER.
– It took Charlie’s death to make me like him. For probably the first time ever. I’m (surprisingly) going to miss the guy.
I have no idea where all the storylines are going but I’m actually enjoying the show again. YAY.

Smallville
I used to be a huge Clark/Lana fan but at this point, their relationship is just silly. How many times are they going to be ripped apart and then thrown back together again?! UGH. The finale was pretty forgettable except for the fact that Lana’s car was blown up (is she dead or not?!?) and Chloe’s power was revealed (is she dead or not?!?). Oh, and I guess the Phantom Zoner took a piece of Clark’s DNA and is now masquerading around with his likeness. Good times.

Supernatural
One word: Awesome. Dean sacrificing himself to bring Sam back. Ellen and Bobby kicking ass. Dean shooting the demon with some help from Dad… I thought the finale brought a satisfying end to the demon storyline. But I’m totally anxious about the set up of next season’s arc. *bites fingernails* You know, I rarely blog about this show but GAWD, it’s so good and I love the Winchesters to pieces.

HUH. I just realized that I never watched the season finales for Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters, and One Tree Hill so I guess I’m actually done with my TV reviews for now. Maybe I’ll get around to it in the future but knowing me, I won’t. I’ll probably just read the recaps on Television Without Pity and call it a day.

Next up: I’m going to plan my TV schedule for the season. I intend on scaling it WAY back. I tried to keep up with too many shows last season and as you can see, that totally flopped. :P

birthday

It’s my BIRTHDAY!!!

Yay. Well, except for the fact that I’m sick. YUP. Been sick now for 2 days. I was sick for my last day at work! So I was sniffling from being sick and teary from all the emotion of leaving. My own office totally spoiled me with a going-away/birthday party and great gifts. I got a spa treatment and also a gift certificate to a dinner cruise while I’m in Paris. *sniff* I’m going to miss them all so much. :(

Anyway, I’m still not feeling 100% but I guess I’d better get up and start packing and doing laundry… 1 more day til I leave for Paris! I just hope I feel better for the flight. Guh.

mini golf birthday

I’m heading into the last 2 days of work at my current job. It’s a very strange feeling… I’m sad to leave all my great co-workers, I’m scared that I might be horrible at my new job, but I’m really excited to be doing something different. I’m totally all over the place. :/

I had a really fun (early) birthday shindig today with some friends. We played miniature golf down in Castro Valley (I SUCK) and then came back up to Berkeley for pizza at Zachary’s (OMG, SO GOOD). Rob also got me the yummiest strawberry cake from Neldam’s Bakery. Aaaahhh, I feel so spoiled. :D

Anyway, I thought I’d upload some of my recent favorite songs since I haven’t done a music post recently…
