midseason tv report card, part 2

Ok, part 2 of the TV report card!

Hellcats – C+
Yes, I’m still watching this show. Heh. It’s not much more than a typical college drama but it’s totally grown on me. I love Marti, Savannah and the rest of the Hellcats (Lewis, Darwin, even Alice!) and the random singing and/or dancing in each episode. I was even pleasantly surprised by the storylines until recently when the show did an about-face and broke up 2 couples (Savannah/Dan, Marti/Lewis) and possibly damaged a major friendship (Marti/Savannah) to develop a relationship between Marti/Dan. UGH. I’m a sucker for romance, I admit, but not when it comes at the expense of the characters’ integrity and their other relationships. Also, the adult characters need to go. They contribute… nothing. (And DB Woodside deserves better).

The Big Bang Theory – B-
I just started watching TBBT regularly this season so I sometimes feel like I’ve missed out on important character backstory by tuning in so late. I may try and catch up at some point. Regardless, the characters are enjoyable and I love all the quirky friendships (is it weird that my favorite relationship is Penny & Sheldon?). I love the show best when all the characters are interacting, like this past week’s episode where everyone (including Bernadette and Amy Farrah Fowler) takes a road trip to a science symposium. Gotta love the musical beds, lol.

Bones – B-
Still a good show but I feel like it’s slowly becoming another procedural. I know it technically is but the characters have always elevated the show beyond the traditional formula. Unfortunately the past few seasons they’ve all been running in place.

Grey’s Anatomy – C+
I go back and forth all the time with this show. While I love the characters, the ridiculous storylines make my head hurt. Last year it was Mark’s daughter (I stopped watching while she was around; she bugged me) and this year it’s Callie’s pregnancy AND Teddy marrying a patient (Scott Foley!) so he could have insurance (they’re totally going to fall in love, I just know it). ARGH. Cristina getting her surgical groove back took a tad too long but Sandra Oh is so awesome she made it work. Random — I saw McSteamy (aka Eric Dane) and his wife in LA a few weeks back. He looks smaller in real life somehow but just as cute. 🙂

Nikita – B
Honestly, I never thought I would still be watching at this point in the season… but I’m really liking it! It definitely needs some work but the show is improving each week. The winter finale, in particular, was a good episode — it set up Alex as an agent working on the outside and it FINALLY addressed my biggest issue when Nikita’s shell program was discovered. Seriously, to have Nikita and Alex basically chatting online whenever they felt like it required too much suspension of belief. Now, if only the show would bring back Owen and get rid of Jaden (ugh, she’s such a one-note character), I would be a very happy camper.

Smallville – C+
I might be an episode behind. Not sure. This season has been a little off for me — the storylines seem a little stale and overall there’s missing something. Maybe it’s the loss of Chloe? Or maybe it’s that the show takes itself way too seriously? I can’t put my finger on it. I also don’t know what happened to me because suddenly I like Lois/Clark. They’re actually kind of cute. I was really hoping that Kristin Kreuk and/or Michael Rosenbaum would reprise their roles as Lana and Lex since it’s the final season but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. It would have been a nice way to close out the series, especially for the fans.

White Collar – A-
Gawd, LOVE IT. It may not be the best or smartest show about the FBI (case in point – the larger mythology storyline involving the music box doesn’t always make sense) but it’s so light and fun that I don’t really care. Besides, it’s the chemistry between Neal and Peter that makes the show so great anyway. The reason it doesn’t get a straight A is that so much of Neal’s backstory is centered around his ex-girlfriend Kate who, unfortunately, is not very likable or sympathetic (thanks largely to the actress that plays her).

Pass:
CSI
CSI Miami

No grades for these shows. I watch each week because it’s become a routine but I’m not too invested.

Dropped:
V
– *yawn*
Supernatural – Watched the first few episodes of the season and it felt a little “been there, done that.” Then the episodes kept piling up on the DVR until finally last month, Rob & I deleted all of them. I enjoyed the earlier seasons (and of course love Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki) but honestly, I just got bored.

Need to Catch up on:
The Vampire Diaries
. I’m about 4 episodes behind but this show is SO good it automatically gets an A for being so AWESOME.

comic-con 2010: days 3 & 4

Oh man, it pains me that I’ve only been blogging about once a week lately. My poor abandoned blog. Work, house maintenance, and TV take up so much time leaving nothing for the blog. Obviously my time management sucks.

Anyway, apparently I have commitment issues when it comes to topics on my blog. So even though it’s been 3 weeks since Comic-Con, I’m finishing up my recap, damn it! Beware blurry pics.

Saturday, July 24

Today was our INSANE panel day. Rob and I basically went to Ballroom 20 and stayed there from morning until late afternoon. No joke.

The first panel of the day was Chuck. It started at 10am and at 8am the scene already looked like this. CRAZINESS.

I was so excited for this panel (hence the reason for the 2 hour wait in line) and it ended up being a little disappointing. First, the panel started late (I later found out it was due to technical difficulties) so by the time they showed the opening highlight reel and hilarious Jeffster music video (singing Lady Gaga!), the cast was only able to come on stage to answer questions for a short time. 🙁

They did reveal a few tidbits for next season —

— Linda Hamilton has been cast as Chuck & Ellie’s mom.
— The Buy More has been taken over by the CIA and Olivia Munn and the Old Spice guy (Isaiah Mustafa) will guest star as CIA directors (or agents? I can’t remember).

The moderators also pointed out that besides Chuck & Sarah, there was another break-out couple last season — Casey (Adam Baldwin) & Morgan (Joshua Gomez). When asked what they like about working with each other, Joshua said he liked Adam’s soft hands (what?!) and Adam joked back that when the crew is setting up scenes for the two of them, they have to get an apple box for Joshua to stand on since he’s so much shorter. BWAHAHAHA. Poor Joshua looked so embarrassed.

After Chuck was a series of panels for animated shows I don’t watch — Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, Futurama, The Simpsons (Rob does, though). I didn’t know what the heck they were talking about but I have to admit that they were HILARIOUS. Especially Seth MacFarlane and the entire cast and crew of Family Guy. During the audience Q&A, a fan went up to the mic and was so nervous, he was stammering and couldn’t get his question out. Seth MacFarlane laughed and said he thought the fan was going to pull one of these and he pretends to whip out a gun and start shooting. OMG. So inappropriate. But I laughed anyway. I couldn’t help it!

Family Guy

The Cleveland Show

Futurama

The Simpsons

Next up was the V panel, which was a complete and utter snoozefest. Rob left mid-way through because he was so bored (he went to the Eureka and Warehouse 13 panels). And he’s the one that watches this show! I only watch it because he does. All I remember is that the actor who plays Tyler is just as weird and awkward as his character. Really. Oh, and Elizabeth Mitchell is an incredibly humble and gorgeous actress.

FINALLY. FINALLY. It was time for Fringe. OK. SO. I didn’t watch any of season 2. I was pretty much there to see my celebrity crush Joshua Jackson.

SQUEEEEEE.

The cast and creators talked a lot about duality and duplicity with regards to the show’s alternate universe and how choices play a role in the differences between the two worlds. Anna Torv described it best when she said that both Olivias have similar goals but our Olivia wants to be the best while alt-Olivia just wants to win.

Everything else they discussed pretty much went over my head but really intrigued me. Maybe I need to do a season 2 marathon?

But for me anyway, Josh Jackson was the highlight. He infused humor into the panel. For instance…

— At the very beginning, the moderator asked him “Is Peter about to embark on the most exhilarating threesome he’s ever had?” WTF. IDEK. Anyway, JJ answered by asking in return “Is there such a thing as a non-exhilarating threesome?”
— During the audience Q&A, the panel decided to ask the fans questions in return. One of the questions was why Gene (the cow) had polka dots. When the fan didn’t know, JJ grabbed his water, took a huge sip, and made gurgling noises. The fan correctly guessed a bong hit. BEST moment of the panel by far.
— The last question asked by the panel was about the pot strains that Walter crossed. It’s completely quiet for awhile when someone in the audience yells out the exact ingredients. The creators are surprised, tell him that he wins a t-shirt while JJ says “And a five-to-fifteen year jail sentence!”

OHGAWD. IPUFFYHEARTYOU JOSHUAJACKSON.

Aaaannnnd the last panel for the day was The Vampire Diaries. I was REALLY surprised at how much the ballroom emptied out after Fringe. It went from full capacity to half. Those people don’t know what they’re missing.

supernatural s5 finale

Supernatural 05.22: Swan Song

This seriously felt like a series finale.

Season 5 has been very “meh” (the episodes *barely* moved the story forward, if at all) so it was only fitting that the BIG! HUGE! FIGHT! between Michael and Lucifer (and Adam and Sam as the vessels respectively) was a big anti-climactic disappointment. Poor Dean didn’t even have an important role to play. Instead, he gets beat to a bloody pulp. He did deliver my favorite line of the episode, though — “I’m not gonna let him die alone.” *sad*

I’m glad that Castiel and Bobby were brought back to life (especially Cas — love him! Ass-butt!) but I feel like their deaths totally lost any kind of emotional resonance when they were so easily restored. It wasn’t earned. It was lazy writing. Their deaths didn’t even have a chance to sink in yet! But I guess I’m torn because I don’t think the show would be the same without either of them.

As far as the ending, I had a feeling that Sam (or is it Lucifer?) was going to reappear. There really isn’t anywhere else the story could go. I just hope they’re not going to recycle the Buffy storyline with Sam not coming back “right.” I’m happy enough with Dean giving up hunting and settling down but a part of me wishes it could be with Jo. Why’d they have to kill her off? I’m sure I’m the only one in this fandom that feels this way, lol. I just love Alona Tal.

Lastly… Chuck? God?! Where did that come from? I guess we’ll see what happens in season 6.

tv wrap-up 3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Alie!

The new fall TV season is right around the corner and I am GOING TO FINISH LAST SEASON’S WRAP-UP if it kills me.

Beware spoilers…

Lost
I don’t really remember much leading up to the season finale. OOPS. I do know that the second half of the season was *far* better than the first. As far as the finale, I vaguely remember the following:
— I liked Jack again. Mostly because he was crazy and suicidal.
— Hurley attacking the Others with the bus. That rocked.
— Future Kate is *gorgeous.*
— Jack and Juliet’s kiss bugged the heck out of me. *twitches* DO. NOT. BELONG. TOGETHER.
— It took Charlie’s death to make me like him. For probably the first time ever. I’m (surprisingly) going to miss the guy.
I have no idea where all the storylines are going but I’m actually enjoying the show again. YAY.

Smallville
I used to be a huge Clark/Lana fan but at this point, their relationship is just silly. How many times are they going to be ripped apart and then thrown back together again?! UGH. The finale was pretty forgettable except for the fact that Lana’s car was blown up (is she dead or not?!?) and Chloe’s power was revealed (is she dead or not?!?). Oh, and I guess the Phantom Zoner took a piece of Clark’s DNA and is now masquerading around with his likeness. Good times.

Supernatural
One word: Awesome. Dean sacrificing himself to bring Sam back. Ellen and Bobby kicking ass. Dean shooting the demon with some help from Dad… I thought the finale brought a satisfying end to the demon storyline. But I’m totally anxious about the set up of next season’s arc. *bites fingernails* You know, I rarely blog about this show but GAWD, it’s so good and I love the Winchesters to pieces.

HUH. I just realized that I never watched the season finales for Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters, and One Tree Hill so I guess I’m actually done with my TV reviews for now. Maybe I’ll get around to it in the future but knowing me, I won’t. I’ll probably just read the recaps on Television Without Pity and call it a day.

Next up: I’m going to plan my TV schedule for the season. I intend on scaling it WAY back. I tried to keep up with too many shows last season and as you can see, that totally flopped. 😛

returning shows, part 2

OMG, I seriously need to start making cuts on my TV schedule. Cause I am SO backed up. There are a billion episodes on my Tivo!

I think Six Degrees may be my first casualty. I do have the third episode saved on the Tivo so that’ll be the deciding episode.

More comments on returning shows…

SPOILERS ARE AHEAD…

CSI
Really enjoyed the first 2 episodes… Catherine’s “rape” (the morning after scene gave me chills) and the Sam Braun storyline was intriguing. And I liked that Catherine turned to Sara for help. Finally! I like both characters a lot and I wish they would get along. :/ They always seem to be shown as adversaries. It’s like the writers don’t know how to write friendly relationships for female characters or something. Annoying.

Gilmore Girls
OMG. Lauren Graham is amazing. She makes me *feel* Lorelai’s pain. GUH. She is so good. Now, I know that the show will eventually make its way back to Luke/Lorelai but until then, I’d love to see more of Christopher (I’m sorry, I like him!). Good to see Lane again but I really hate that she’s pregnant. I feel like it’s such a cop-out storyline for her. Blah. On a shallow note, I absolutely love Alexis Bledel’s hair lately. I have hair envy.

One Tree Hill
I totally rolled my eyes after the cold open of the premiere. I mean, really. Nathan washing up on land holding Rachel. WHATEVER. I wish she would go away. And what’s with Nathan’s angst? That came out of nowhere. But I’m glad that Brooke and Lucas finally broke up. As much as I don’t like that pairing, I don’t like watching Chad and Sophia even more. The thought of their real life problems makes me cringe. I feel bad for Sophia. :/ It looks like the signs are pointing towards a relationship to develop between Lucas and Peyton. Yay. I’ve been waiting since season 1! And can I just say how happy I am to see Skillz in the credits? Antwon Tanner’s awesome.

Veronica Mars
Hee! There was a BSG reference! 😀 I thought the premiere was great… well, except for the whole Kendall/Cormac storyline. But that’s because I had no idea what was going on. Hopefully it’ll be explained in the upcoming episodes. Anyway, I normally don’t like new characters right off the bat but I really, really liked both Piz and Parker. They both have such different personalities from the rest of the characters yet they fit right in. Strangely enough, I wasn’t feeling Veronica. At all. She’s normally a know-it-all (in a good, lovable way) but she took it too far. I couldn’t even enjoy the Veronica/Logan scenes because I was so annoyed with her. KB did have rocking hair, though… that’s me, I’m all about the shallow.

Supernatural
Daddy Winchester!!! *sniff* The premiere rocked. Seriously, my mind was blown. Jensen, Jared and JDM were all so, so awesome. The ending killed me dead. The scene when Sam drops the coffee cup and runs to his dad… just, GUH.

Battlestar Galactica
The premiere was SO frakking GOOD. Gaeta rocked, the insurgent team of Chief/Helo/Tigh rocked, Lee and his angst rocked, Starbuck and her bad self rocked. Baltar and Ellen did not rock but that’s fine… it was all pretty damn amazing anyway. And the ending! I gasped when the prisoners were given a rest break and the cylons appeared. Noooo!

Whew. Hope everyone has a good weekend. 😀

season finales, part 3

I just realized that I never finished up my season finale commentaries. Since the new season’s about to start, I figure I might as well knock these out. You know, for posterity.

SPOILERS ARE AHEAD…

One Tree Hill
HATED the ending. I mean, Haley screaming as Nathan jumps into the river to rescue Rachel and Uncle Cooper?!? What is THAT about? The poor girl just got married. Seeing the credits roll after that just about KILLED me. What if the show hadn’t been renewed? Grrr. And I’m so torn about the Peyton/Lucas/Brooke triangle. I love L/P but I completely understand Brooke’s feelings of betrayal. I really, really wish that the L/P storyline had played out differently… without Brooke getting hurt. Blah. Especially if it turns out that she’s pregnant. This is so my guilty pleasure show but we would be SO OVER if any other main female character besides Karen is pregnant.

Desperate Housewives
Susan got on my nerves, Betty Applewhite did nothing, and I… got so bored. I actually have about 4 (maybe more???) episodes saved on my Tivo but I know I’m never going to sit down and watch them. I don’t think I’ll be watching season 3.

Las Vegas
I want to see Danny in a relationship with Sam… but that’s just wishful thinking. Instead, he falls in love with Delinda (again) who is about to be married. WHY?!? Oh Josh Duhamel, the things I put up with for you. I read somewhere (maybe it was Ask Ausiello) that the upcoming season’s episode order was reduced. :/ It’s not looking good…

Supernatural
This is a great show but honestly it’s not one of those shows that I’m *obsessed* with… I haven’t watched all the episodes multiple times and I don’t plan on purchasing the DVDs. So sadly, I can’t really remember all the details from the finale. Something about the demon inhabiting John’s body? And Sam not shooting him? THIS is why I need to write up my commentaries right after watching the episode and not months after, heh. I do remember the image of the unconscious Winchesters after they were hit by the huge semi. 🙁 That crash totally took me by surprise.

Lost
I can’t believe that Michael left Kate, Jack and Sawyer with Henry Gale. HENRY GALE. Dude is seriously creepy. His eyes make him look possessed or something. *shudders* What about Eko, Desmond, and Locke?! The freaking hatch blew up! Why is Charlie still around? And he had to go and have a cute ending with Claire. Ugh. I don’t quite know why I dislike him so much. But I do. I’m still bitter that Boone had to die and I have to watch Charlie every week. :/ The whole Penelope ending went way over my head so I’ll obviously have to pay better attention next season.

Still have a few more commentaries to write… hopefully I’ll finish them this weekend. I need the closure. 😀

mid-season wrap-up

Time for my mid-season TV wrap-up (possible spoilers)… 🙂

Sunday
09:00: Desperate Housewives
What happened?!? I’m pretty much snoozing right through this season. The only housewife I’m remotely interested in is Bree.

10:00: Grey’s Anatomy
Snappy dialogue, great music, and those crazy interns… SO MUCH LOVE for this show. Seriously, it just keeps getting better and better each week. And they did a Christmas-themed episode! What’s not to like here?

Monday
08:30: Kitchen Confidential
I’m glad I got to see the Michael Vartan episode before FOX pulled the plug on the show. That was freaking hilarious. *sniff* RIP KC. I hope Bradley Cooper finds another show soon. He’s too gorgeous not to be on TV!

09:00: Prison Break
I didn’t think this show would last on my schedule but it’s really grown on me. The eye candy (Wentworth Miller!) doesn’t hurt either. I’m finding the conspiracy against Lincoln really intriguing (even though I think Lincoln himself is annoying) and the prison break-out really suspenseful. I’ve even really grown to like the little band of inmates that Michael has put together, especially Sucre. Yay cellmates!

09:00: 24
YES!!! JACK BAUER IS BACK!!! I don’t care how implausible or unrealistic this show is… I LOVE IT.

09:00: Related
This is another show that I never ever thought would last more than a few episodes. It’s not all that well-written and 1 of the sisters bugs me (Rose — it’s like she’s too perfect or something, argh) but I find it really endearing. The sisters’ relationship definitely carries the show.

09:00: Las Vegas
My “fluff” show. I watch when I can but don’t really care all that much if I miss it. It’s all about Josh Duhamel for me, anyway. BUT. I can’t believe that Monica (Lara Flynn Boyle) died the way she did. It was very… anticlimactic. She flew off the roof of the Montecito, people. And it didn’t even look real. I’m ashamed to admit that I had to stifle a giggle.

Tuesday
08:00: Gilmore Girls
The season didn’t start out very strong (read: I was a little bored) but it’s turned itself around. I’m not too sure how I feel yet about Luke’s daughter storyline. My initial reaction was “WTF! This sucks” but I’m willing to see where it goes and how it affects the wedding. I don’t think the wedding will happen as planned, though. (And I hope Lorelai gets a new dress cause the one she bought is AWFUL). Still indifferent about Rory, though. She totally lost me this season with her brattiness.

08:00: America’s Next Top Model
Pretty happy with Nicole as the winner. She doesn’t really come off as a model in person but she really rocked her photos. And did an amazing job at the last runway show. I would have liked anyone but Lisa or Bre to win anyway. I was secretly rooting for Kim, though. And is anyone still wondering who the heck stole Bre’s nutrition bars? I want to know!

09:00: Supernatural
Another unexpected hit. I just love the snappy banter between the Brothers Winchester. SAM&DEANRSOCUTE. The urban horror legends do give me the creeps sometimes (hey! I’m a fraidy cat!) but I think that’s part of the fun.

Wednesday
08:00: One Tree Hill
Every week I vow to stop watching (I hate Brooke/Lucas and I wish they would give Peyton a better storyline) but then they give me an episode like How A Resurrection Really Feels and I get sucked right back in. I mean, Nathan/Chris hijinks and Nathan/Haley lovin’? I can’t resist. I will be an even happier camper if Brooke/Lucas break up. Pretty please?

08:00: The Apprentice: Martha Stewart
Sadly, I never got around to watching this show. HEHE.

09:00: Lost
I don’t like the tail-enders. Well, except for Eko. Everyone else… ehhh. Especially Ana Lucia. She killed Shannon! Yes, I am still BITTER.

10:00: Alias
I’ve enjoyed the season so far and I really like the new additions of Rachel and Tom (it’s kinda too bad the show is ending because I really would have liked to learn more about them). It looks like the show is going to go out with a bang, though, which I’m really happy about. Loved the surprise of Irina in the last episode and I hope to see more familiar faces before the end (Will, Sark, Nadia, Weiss, Vaughn).

Thursday
08:00: Smallville
I’m enjoying this show more than I have in… oh, about 3 seasons. Lex’s turn to the dark side and James Marsters’s guest spot can really do that to a show. PLUS. They had the BEST Christmas-themed episode this season. Really. Lexmas was amazing. Not just for the ridiculously happy Lex/Lana or the return of the Clark/Lex friendship but for the whole revelation about Lex and why he chose the path he did. *wibble*

08:00: Everybody Hates Chris
I watched the premiere and it was DAMN funny. But unfortunately, I just kept forgetting about it. :/ When the show comes out on DVD, I’m definitely going to pick it up.

09:00: The O.C.
Can Johnny go away?! PLEASE? He BUGS. I’ve been a huge Marissa apologist for the past few seasons but I think she may have reached the end of my patience. Her displaced loyalty to Johnny gets on my nerves (Poor Ryan). Now Taylor… didn’t like her at first but I take it back. She totally rocks. I hope we get to see more of her. I’m pretty wary about Kaitlin’s return. I mean, do we really need another snotty teen drama queen? I’d love for them to bring back Teresa instead. I want to know what’s going on with her, damn it!

09:00: CSI
My only complaint is that there has been very little follow through with Nick’s kidnapping/buried alive storyline. We got little hints when the tape revealed an accomplice in the premiere and then when Kelly visited Nick at the lab but that’s it. They just keep stringing us along! I hope it’s worth it.

09:00: Everwood
It’s been so good this season. *happy sigh* Getting To Know You was so great with Ephram telling Amy he’s still in love with her. Awww! However, Reid is still around I’m sure that Amy is someday going to find out that Ephram asked him not to date Amy anymore… EEEK. I wish it would come back sooner than March, though. Stupid WB.

09:00: Reunion
Damn FOX. Why’d they have to cancel the show?! I want to know who killed Sam! And why Craig is in a wheelchair when he can walk! And why Jenna is mad at Craig! They had to cancel it right when the mystery was getting interesting. So frustrating. 🙁 And now I’ll probably never get the answers to my questions.

And that’s that. 😀

Yay Golden Globes tonight! Go Michelle Williams!

yay supernatural!

Holy back pain. I can barely concentrate on anything because it hurts for me to sit up or stand straight. I even spent most of the weekend in bed. I suppose I should go to the doctor. *wibble* 🙁

So, some good news — Supernatural has been picked up for a full season! Ahhh, TV never fails to make me feel better. At least I’ll have something good to watch on Tuesdays since Gilmore Girls is completely failing to deliver.

I feel like I’m always playing TV catch-up, lol (possible spoilers)…
Alias 5.02, … 1 …
It’s just not the same anymore. Weiss (possibly?) leaving is the last straw. Plus, there’s just too many newbies and they don’t interest me when there’s still lots of stories to tell about Sloane, Marshall, Nadia, etc (ie. the characters *already* on the show). At least the credits are new! (I love opening credits, I’m a dork). And they feature cast members other than Jennifer Garner! Awww. Not that I don’t love JG but, you know.

One Tree Hill 3.01, Like You Like An Arsonist
OMG, Nathan and Haley have killed me dead. That’s why I fell in love with them in s1. All their scenes were just so beautiful and angsty. OMGILOVETHEMSO. The scene where Haley goes over to Nathan’s bedroom and they say “Always and Forever” to each other is THE BEST EVER. Guh. As for the rest — I don’t care for Brooke/Lucas and I care even less about Peyton’s mom (and I normally love Peyton). On a shallow note, I don’t like Sophia’s bangs (AT. ALL) nor do I like BJL’s blonde hair (I know it’s her natural hair color but the brown hair from s1 was quintessential Haley). But I do love Hilarie’s new hair… much prettier than the curls. Oh, and just for the record, my money’s on Keith or Andy as the arsonist.

Related 1.01, Moving In, Moving Out, Moving On
Cute. Weak storylines, though. Especially for the youngest sister… college student who just dropped pre-med for the experimental art program. How original. I don’t know if this show will last, though — it has tough competition on Wednesdays (Lost, VM). But at least I know who Callum Blue is now! 🙂

Grey’s Anatomy 2.03, Make Me Lose Control
Ok. So maybe I’m warming up to Alex and Izzie. Damn it. I broke too easily. But maybe a relationship between them will give Izzie more screen time. I feel like she’s the character that gets shafted so we don’t know anything about her. 🙁 I want to see more Izzie! But OMG did Cristina/Burke tear my heart to pieces. I just about died when Burke was looking at the surgery board and realizing that Cristina was pregnant. And then when he got choked up as he was talking to his patient about a “broken heart.” *sniff* Gawd, Isaiah Washington is so good. This storyline definitely trumps the Meredith/Derek/Addison drama. So does anyone else think that there was something going on between Ellis Grey and the Chief back in the day? Hmmm.

Squee, my Veronica Mars DVDs have shipped! YAY!

top model

It’s like the third week of the fall TV season and I’m ALREADY BEHIND. 2 of episodes of Gilmore Girls and 1 episode of The OC are sitting on the Tivo… EEK. I have some serious catching up to do this weekend.

🙂

Possible spoilers below…
America’s Next Top Model
Caught the last half of the 2-hour premiere thanks to the Tuesday reruns on UPN. There’s so much Miss Jay this season. I LOVE IT! He definitely makes up for the lack of Janice. Without him, the judging panel would be a total snoozefest. I was a little surprised at the elimination but I’ve finally come to realize that Tyra gets rid of whoever she feels like and not who actually *should* go.

Supernatural 1.03
I still watch this show with my hand partially covering my eyes. I can’t help it — I’m a scaredy cat. Plus, the haunting music doesn’t help. Anyway, I thought the “Monster of the Week” storyline was a little confusing and vague (I mean, WHY were all the killings accelerated? I didn’t get it) but I really enjoyed Amy Acker. I’m sad that her character was only around for this episode. She and Dean could have had something! I can find a ‘ship on ANY show, hehe. But my favorite ‘ship on the show is definitely Sam/Dean. Their brotherly banter is what keeps me watching every week. You know, I never really cared for Jared Padalecki as an actor before (I liked him on Gilmore Girls though he was a little bland) but I think he’s really great on this show. He’s becoming very watchable.

Lost 1.02, Adrift
This episode was so frustrating! I guess it was all the backtracking. I know it was necessary to go back and fill in the story introduced in the premiere but… ARGH. I’m just too impatient. 😛 Anyway, I totally fell in love with Michael and Sawyer in this episode. “What are you gonna do? Splash me?” HEE! They care. Even if it is begrudgingly. It was such a bittersweet moment when they saw the island and called it “home.” Is Michelle Rodriguez finally going to appear next week?!? Can’t wait!

Veronica Mars
SQUEE. I LOVED the premiere. (Well, I do have 1 nitpick and her name is Naima. UGH. Didn’t like her on America’s Next Top Model and I sure didn’t care for her on VM. Why was she there?!). I want to watch the episode again but I have to say that since I pretty much ‘ship Veronica with everyone — Duncan, Logan, Leo — this episode totally made my night! LOL. I also really liked seeing more of Dick (“My name is Richaaard.”) and the introduction of Charisma Carpenter’s character was classic. I’m not sure how I feel about the season-long “mystery” yet — I guess after Lilly’s murder nothing will compare. It seems interesting enough but I wonder if it’ll really keep our attention for 20+ episodes?

Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray are now separated. They’ve only been married since April! That’s awful. 🙁 But I can’t help but wonder what this means for their characters on One Tree Hill. EEEK.
