harry potter 6 cover

My Girl Scout cookie order finally came today. Mmmm, they are so heavenly. I got home from work, started watching TV, and proceeded to eat almost an entire sleeve of Thin Mints. Good grief. I need to practice some self-control.

The girls’ performances on American Idol were pretty disappointing tonight (I thought the guys were *much* better last night). I only liked half of the girls (Nadia, Jessica, Carrie and Vonzell) — the rest were very mediocre performances. Since I made a few guesses on who’s going to get voted off on the guys side, I’ll pick a few from the girls. Let’s see — my money’s on Amanda, Janay or Lindsay. They’re definitely the bottom 3 for me, anyway.

Did you all see the new Harry Potter cover? Just a few more months away!

michelle!!! squee!

Mmm. GREAT TV on FOX tonight.

First. Michelle is back on 24. SQUEE. The look on Tony’s face as he saw her walking into CTU? Priceless. They’re so my OTP.

Second. All the guys on American Idol were so much better than I expected (I’ve only seen the girls perform so far this season). I loved Anwar’s performance especially. He rocked that song. I’m pretty horrible at predicting these things but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that either Scott, Anthony or Constantine will not advance to the top 12 on Wednesday.

next top model & ai

I am officially addicted to America’s Next Top Model. Last weekend I happened to come across a marathon of season 3 on VH1 and I pretty much spent my entire Saturday watching all the episodes, hee. Come on, fashion and pretty people? I just couldn’t resist. Plus, when Tyra says “Congratulations, you’re still in the running to becoming America’s Next Top Model” during the eliminations, it makes me laugh and roll my eyes. Cause she says it to EVERY. SINGLE. GIRL. Every week. I was a little disappointed at the winner, though. I mean, Eva? Maybe it’s just me but I wasn’t impressed by her at all. I was rooting for Ann to win — she was absolutely gorgeous but she just couldn’t get it together in front of the camera. Not to mention her bad attitude.

I also started watching American Idol again this week. Well, I watched the girls and the results show so I have no idea how good (or more likely, how bad) the guys are. I was pretty underwhelmed by the girls. I can’t pinpoint a single contestant that really captured me. Maybe it was a bad night? And what in the world is Constantine doing in the top 24?! Is he really that good? I saw him in the season premiere and never imagined that he would get this far. I miss AI season 1.

another resolution

My sides hurt *so* much from all the laughing I did while watching American Idol… holy crap. There were some horrible auditions. Sometimes I wonder if I these people intentionally go into the audition and sing horribly to get on TV. I mean, really… they have to know they can’t sing. Right?!

Sadly, there really weren’t that many contestants that I actually remember because of their talent — I can only think of 3 people, actually. Marlea (21, single mother who just broke up with her fiance), Travis (dancer) and Anwar (Milli Vanilli look-alike). Too bad I wasn’t particularly blown away by any of them. The real standouts of the night were the ones who didn’t make it to Hollywood. The most memorable ones were definitely Derek Braxton and Mary Roach. *dies* Could Derek be any more full of himself? And what was with the attitude? Jeebus. I don’t think there are words for Mary… her whole audition was a train wreck. The voice, the unfortunate fitting pants and the general craziness. Eeep.

Anyway, I think Mark McGrath is hot. I wish he was a permanent judge.

Did anyone happen to catch last night’s Everwood? My TV or the cable (not sure which) cut out during the final Ephram/Amy scene so I didn’t get to see or hear what they talked about. Can anyone fill me in? Pretty please?

So I have another New Year’s resolution to add to my list… I’m gonna start reading more often (Keenai is my inspiration). I was quite the bookworm back in the day. But after college, the number of books I’ve read per year is pretty embarassing. And I want to remedy that. I’ve just started reading the Fearless series by Francine Pascal (Sweet Valley High!), which is actually really intriguing and suspenseful. It’s a young adult series but the themes and storylines are much heavier and intense than anything you’d expect. Many MANY thanks to Zinna for letting me borrow her books. She’s so awesome!

Aside from the first 4 Fearless books, I just finished reading Almost Paradise by Susan Isaacs which my best friend loaned to me. OMG. I *loved* this book. It traces the two main characters back to their great-grandparents and then continues through their childhoods and ultimately to their first meeting and eventual marriage. I didn’t want to put it down — it’s that engaging. You’ll ache for the characters and you will definitely cry. It’s not a “happily ever after” book by any means. Two thumbs up.

That said, anyone have any book recs for me? I tend to read chick lit (ie. Bridget Jones, Shopaholic series) but I’m seriously open to anything…

american idol finale

Seriously, the American Idol season finale does not need to be 2 hours! Just tell me who won and that’s it! But no — FOX has to stretch out the results as long as possible. OF COURSE.

My comments…

– It was good to see LaToya and George perform during the pre-show. I just love them! And as much as I love LaToya’s voice (she was actually my pick to win this thing), I can see why her critics say she has no personality. She has an amazing voice but she is a bit bland.

– Is Jasmine wearing cropped cargo pants and a chain? What a shocker! It’s like her signature outfit or something. But her poor voice! She pretty much killed the song — she sounds so exhausted and maxed out, you know? I hope she gets to rest her voice before the tour starts… for the sake of the people in the audience. Totally random but Jasmine reminds me of my friend Robyn. I noticed it before but it really hit me tonight while I was watching her perform. There’s just something really similar in the way Jasmine pulls her hair back with her hand that is *so* like Robyn’s mannerisms. It’s uncanny, really.

– Like Tamyra. Didn’t like her version of The Star Spangled Banner. I think I cringed a few times.

– Kelly!!! The only reason why I tuned in to the finale. omgilovehersomuch. Hee! Plus, she shares my name, which makes her that much more awesome in my book. :D I loved hearing her sing Impossible Dream with Fantasia, Diana and Ruben — except I wasn’t crazy about that studded Victoria’s Secret-like bra she was wearing. Eek. And then she just blew me away when she sang Beautiful Disaster. Mmm. That’s one of my favorite songs on her album. Which is great, by the way. You should all buy it. Or I can upload it if anyone wants it. Just trying to spread the Kelly love.

– The guys in white pants during the Top 12 group sing — that was not cool. Especially Matt Rogers in white pants. Just… no. Aside from that, the group number was pure cheesy fun. Huh. I totally forgot about that Leah girl.

– I think Ruben’s great but that song he sang (I think it’s called What If) was incredibly awful. How he kept a straight face while singing is beyond me. I mean, “What if I was slim? What if I didn’t win?” Did he write that?

– Still mad at Simon for his comment last night about Fantasia being the best contestant they’ve ever had in the competition. Kelly all the way! :D

It was at this point that I got bored with the finale — so I’m just going to get to the winner…

Fantasia won. I knew it.

I was actually rooting for Diana (I even voted for her a few times last night — I’m a dork!) but I’m happy for both of them. But I’m even happier that this season is over! I still haven’t loved a season as much as the first or a contestant as much as Kelly so — here’s to season 4!

smvl/angel

Wednesday night TV tired me out. My ramblings here (beware of Smallville, Angel, American Idol spoilers)…

Smallville
Probably the best season finale of this show’s 3 seasons. The opera montage at the end was fantastic. It’s weird seeing Lionel without his signature hair, though. But — Chloe! Nooooo!!! :( She’s not one of the main leads of the show so I’m worried. *bites nails* And as a closeted Lex/Lana shipper, I loved their airport goodbye scene. MR and KK seem really comfortable together which comes across in their scenes as Lex and Lana. I can buy that they’ve become good friends. As for Clark and Lex, I can’t say I’m torn up about the fall of their friendship (though they are my favorite ‘ship) because they really haven’t been acting like friends all season long. Also, Kara? Not a good actress.

Angel
*sigh* I haven’t watched Angel regularly in a long time but I really wanted to see how the show would end. My initial reaction is that the episode was really rather depressing. I mean, the open ending? Just left me incredibly dissatisfied. Plus, by the time the end rolled around, I was already sad about Wes’s death. Guh. I loved Wes.

American Idol
So… a Diana/Fantasia showdown, huh? Meh.

las vegas

Going back to work after a vacation is no fun. No fun at all.

I had a great time this past weekend in Las Vegas, despite the extreme heat. Rob did lots of gambling (and lots of losing, hehe) and I did lots of shopping (with his money, natch). We also went to see Mystere at Treasure Island, which was amazing. Who knew people could bend their bodies like that?!?

We also managed to see Troy Friday night and I really, really enjoyed it. I never expected anything more than an entertaining blockbuster movie so I wasn’t disappointed. Eric Bana (Hector), by far, was the heart and soul of the movie. I’m joining the hoards of women who, after seeing the movie, have fallen in love with him. I’m a new fan! :D Loved Brad Pitt as well, but then I always do. Plus, there was the added bonus of Brad in a skirt. I’m shallow. *g* I wasn’t as crazy about Orlando Bloom’s performance, though. He just seemed to be channeling Legolas the entire time, heh. Well, I take that back… Orlando was okay — depending on who he was acting against. Paris and Helen didn’t really do anything for me but Paris and Hector (my favorite relationship of the movie) brought me to tears.

What was up with all the Fantasia praise on American Idol tonight?!? Ugh, the judges piss me off. So. Much. I get that they’re trying to sway the vote in Fantasia’s favor but do they have to sacrifice any constructive criticism they may have had for Diana and Jasmine? I didn’t think those two did nearly as bad (even Jasmine, suprisingly — though why she was smiling during All By Myself, I will never know) as the judges made it seem. Blah. I’m hoping that either Jasmine or Fantasia goes tomorrow night.

Still reeling from learning about the start of Alias’s fourth season. I mean, January? I don’t see how such a late premiere can be good for the show — it seems awfully like ABC trying to get rid of the show altogether. And that’s not cool.

friday ramblings

Friday. Finally.

I’m really excited for this weekend because I’m heading to Las Vegas tomorrow. Woo hoo! I don’t have any money to do or buy anything but… whatever. I’m just looking forward to a weekend away and a Monday off.

Work is sooo boring today. Gawwd, just a few more hours…

Time to ramble about random things that pop into my head…

I’m *still* upset about Jasmine staying over La Toya on American Idol! WTH?! Jasmine was so awful on Tuesday night! Did nobody who voted for her hear how out of tune and all over the place she was? Good grief. Now there’s no one left for me to root for. I guess Diana is the lesser of all the evils but she doesn’t exactly inspire me to go out and buy her CD or anything. Eh. Here’s hoping that AI season 4 will make up for this trainwreck.

I need to get a copy of People’s 50 Most Beautiful People issue. I just found out that Kwame (the runner-up from The Apprentice) is in it. Eee! His picture is here. What a cutie.

Another picture I found that needs some pimping — Kiefer in a kilt! The man seriously looks good in anything.

Speaking of pretty boys in skirts, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to see Troy tonight. Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom? Yes please. :D

tuesday TV craziness

OMG. Tuesday night TV was craaazzzyyy. My head is still spinning.

American Idol
*snooze* Seriously. I don’t particularly like any of the remaining contestants but if I had to choose, I’d pick LaToya and Diana as the final two. I can’t stand Fantasia (there’s just something about her that really grates on my nerves) and the only thing Jasmine has been good at is being consistently bad. I miss George Huff. *sniff*

One Tree Hill
OH. MY. GAWD. Can’t really form coherent thoughts so just some quick comments/observations…
– The flashback action in the beginning was really annoying. Gah.
– Lucas and Nathan are *so* my new OTP. Heh. Loved all of their scenes together. They’ve come so far since the pilot. And Lucas called Nathan “little brother.” Aww.
– Not enough Peyton.
– Is Brooke really not holding a grudge anymore? I say she still is. I just can’t believe she’d get over her anger *that* quickly.
– Please please Nikki be gone.
– Scared Haley is a cute Haley.
– What in the world is wrong with Whitey? Not just eye surgery, hmm?
– Keith and Deb did WHAT?
– Dan had a… WHAT?
– Nathan and Haley got WHAT?!?
*dies*

Got my Friends finale DVD! It was only $6.99 at Best Buy — score! Can’t wait to check out the extended scenes…

rob and william hung

Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged… My cousin was in town this past week so I spent my time hanging out with her. I even managed to score 2 days off from work! :) We had a grand old time shopping, cooking, and getting our nails done — all the girly things we love to do together!

OH! For all you American Idol viewers, this might interest you, lol. My boyfriend was having lunch with his co-workers last Friday and they ran into William Hung! See the picture below (yes, that’s my boyfriend Rob on the left)…

Hee!
