spyware sucks

OMG. I hate spyware.

I was trying to look for Jamie Cullum lyrics on some site and then… BAM! Pop-up after pop-up after pop-up… and then something seemed to be downloading onto my computer and I couldn’t stop it! ARGH. $#@! Stupid lyrics site. I’ve run both Adaware and Spybot and the weird toolbars/unwanted programs seem to have gone away but I still have the occasional pop-up. Anyone know what else I can do?

Spyware sucks. Thank goodness my laptop is still safe from evil. For now.

I spent the entire weekend watching my West Wing season 1 DVDs. *sigh* So good. I watched 19 episodes in 2 days! I’m a little pissed though because the 4th disc doesn’t work. Grr. I wanted to check out the special features but when I put the disc into my DVD player, it made a really weird noise and then “No Disc” appeared on the screen. I tried to play the disc on my laptop as well but the same thing happened. Fabulous. Now I have to package the darn thing and mail it back to Deep Discount DVD, which is kind of a pain. I’ll have to wait another week or so to get the replacement set. I guess this is why I should just buy my DVDs from a normal brick and mortar store. No waiting.

I also managed to watch the series premiere of Desperate Housewives on Sunday night and I really, really liked it. Great, another TV show to watch regularly. Heh. I read that it did well in the ratings — if the ratings stay consistent or get better, I wonder what’s going to happen come January when Alias is slated to return to the timeslot? Will they move one of the shows to a different timeslot? Should be interesting.

fannish five

Phew. Crisis averted. I don’t have to reformat my hard drive. My boyfriend managed to fix it! Some weird spywarecrap was hijacking the home page on my Internet Explorer and wouldn’t open pop ups or new windows. It was so annoying. I’m still not sure what he did to fix it — all I know is that I came home from work and it was functioning properly again. Yay for boyfriends who are all technical and cool and can fix things. 😀

A couple of fandom memes that I stole from various live journals

Dawson’s Creek (My One True Fandom *sigh*)
One True Pairing Ship: Pacey and Joey. They make me ohsohappy.
Canon Ship: Pacey and Joey, Dawson and Jen
“If this happen(ed) I would have stabbed my eyes out with a spork” ‘Ship: Dawson and Andie. Two of my least favorite characters. *snooze*
“You are one sick bastard” ‘Ship: Pacey and Gale (or is it Gail?). hehe.
“I dabble a little” ‘Ship: Pacey and Jen. Two of the best characters EVER.
“It’s like a car crash” ‘Ship: Dawson and Joey. These two crazy kids just never got their act together at the same time. I even liked them way back when.
“Tickled my fancy but not sold quite yet” ‘Ship: Pacey and Andie. Cute relationship but Andie got on my nerves most of the time so I couldn’t bring myself to fully invest in them.
“Makes no canon sense but why the hell not” ‘Ship: Jack and Joey. Yes, I know he’s gay. That’s why it makes no sense! I guess I just think that Katie and Kerr look good together… that whole brunette/brunette thing.
“Everyone else loves it but I just don’t feel it” ‘Ship: Dawson and Joey
“When all is said and done” ‘Ship: Pacey and Joey. 4eva! *g*

Another fandom meme… (can you tell I’m bored?) 😉

How many and which of your fandoms do you own on DVD? I have Dawson’s Creek, Alias, Felicity, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 24, Friends, Sex and the City, and Smallville. I’m pretty addicted to TV DVDs.

If you had tapes, did you toss them when you got the DVDs? Yup. They just took up too much room in my small, crowded apartment. I think I may have saved 1 or 2 to record other random stuff on.

What are your favorite extras (commentary tracks, behind-the-scenes featurettes, bloopers, foreign language dub, interviews with cast, etc.)? Love love love bloopers! So funny. Sadly, I think only my Alias DVDs have bloopers. It should be mandatory to have bloopers on a TV box set. Humph. I also really enjoy cast commentaries (it’s cute to listen to them ramble) and behind the scenes stuff. I think my favorite TV DVDs are the Alias ones — they have lost of great extras that fans really appreciate. I wish the people producing the Dawson’s Creek DVDs would take a hint. Those sets have barely any extras. Grr.

What do you view first: the episodes, commentary, extras? I always watch the extra stuff first. Then I’ll watch the episodes in order.

What fandoms on DVD do you not yet own or are not out yet? Hmmm… I’ve been meaning to pick up The West Wing and CSI but money will not allow at this time. 😛 I’m eagerly awaiting Roswell to get released in February. And I’m hoping that DVDs will be produced for Gilmore Girls, Everwood and The O.C. Fun fun.

oh christmas tree

The rain finally let up a little bit today so we were able to get our Christmas tree! 😀 It’s all pretty and decorated now. I love looking at it. So soothing. I love Christmas. I really need to get a holiday layout going here… I’m just so lazy. Plus my laptop is being crappy right now. It seems that some kind of evil adware/spyware crap has hijacked Internet Explorer and I don’t know how to fix it. ^%$#@!* Grrr.

A few days ago I received a DVD from Netflix and open it to find From Justin to Kelly: A Tale of Two American Idols. OMG. I *completely* forgot this movie was on our Netflix queue. Hee. So I decide to watch it…

WOW. The movie (can it actually be called that? This was an atrocity.) is SO. BAD. The main Justin/Kelly storyline made me roll my eyes numerous times. It’s just *so* silly. And I normally enjoy over-the-top cheesy movies. Don’t even get me started on all the “extra” storylines (like the geeky guy and his internet date and Kelly’s best friend going out with the local). Ack. There simply are no words. I have no clue why Justin, Kelly or their management thought this movie was a good idea. I mean, I seriously think it was a waste of their time. I’m sure they must have spent at least a couple of months shooting, right? Months that they could have spent on their actual musical careers.

Ugh. I am currently trying to download some of Clay Aiken’s CD (What?!? :P) and all the songs have been DUDS. Sometimes I hate Kazaa. Now is one of those times.

so long to christmas

Oh my gosh! It was such a nice surprise to come home and see all the holiday emails and fansigns. ::sniff:: Thanks to Linda, Rachel, Elisha, Angie, Glory, Sam, Jessica, Tina, Brianna, and Sofie! You girls are so awesome. I will definitely put up the signs asap.

I got my new computer! 🙂 I arrived in northern CA last night and it was here waiting for me. ::sigh:: I am in love with it. It’s so sparkly and new and just so much better than my current computer. I still have to install some programs (PhotoShop!) and transfer files — but eeeh! So excited. 😛 I even watched some episodes of Felicity on the fun CD/DVD-ROM because I CAN. mwahahaha. I know, I know — i’m such a big nerd. hee.

Well, I had an amazing Christmas — got lots of fun presents (a new comforter and sheet set, pj’s, sweatshirts, a purse, and a brand-spanking new watch), I saw Two Weeks Notice and Catch Me If You Can (both great movies — yummy Hugh and Leo!) and I got to hang out with friends I barely get to see. (Hello Robyn and Carmen!) 🙂 I hope everyone had a great holiday as well!

eeeee!!!!

I just bought a new computer! Dell Inspiron 8200 – 2.0ghz, 512mb sdram, 15″ display, 40gb hard drive, CD-RW/DVD combo drive, awesome video card… ::sigh:: I like to think of it as my Christmas present to myself. hee. I probably shouldn’t have bought it considering I will be out of work in a week (shudder!) but my dad said he’ll help me out a bit if I let him have my current computer. 🙂 It’s gonna be my first laptop too. It’s all so exciting. I want it now! But I won’t get it til the week after Christmas. Damn. 😛

almost back to normal

So things are somewhat back to normal for me… Rob took out my primary hard drive which was causing all the problems and installed Windows onto my other hard drive. I still have to reinstall all my programs (which is such a pain!) but at least I have access to the files for my site and all the images that I’ve accumulated for fanart/website use. AND I was able to check my email! Woo-freaking-hoo! 😉 I have to plow through it though and who knows how long that’ll take. 😛

Gah!!! My guestbook *still* is not working. ::sigh:: Yet another thing to reinstall. Boo.

exercise bites

So I’ve finally decided to start exercising again — cause I figure if I’m going to Hawaii, then I might as well look cute. 😉 But geesh, after only like 20 minutes on the freaking exercise bike, I seriously thought I was going to pass out. I used to be so active and in shape while I was in high school and college — I’m such a lazy couch potato now. ::shakes head:: How depressing. I could barely even manage the short walk back to my apartment from the gym. I was seriously shaking from weakness.

Computer update — still broken. Rob’s still working on it — we bought more RAM today in hopes that that would do the trick but it didn’t. He thinks he’s going to have to reformat my hard drive. ::sigh:: This sucks. I hate not being able to use my own computer. All my stuff is on there! Waah! ::glares at computer::

i’m baaack

It’s so good to be back in the Bay. I love visiting my Dad and my family down in Southern CA but I don’t know what it is, I just don’t feel like it’s my “home” anymore. Sure, I grew up there and it’ll always be a part of me but I can’t relate to the culture or way of life — something. I can’t really put my finger on it but for the first time, it really truly felt like I was visiting and not returning home.

Anyway, I didn’t really do much of anything — just had meal after meal with my family and went shopping (of course!) with my Dad and my cousin. They’re like my official shopping buddies when I visit. I managed to get my Dad’s Father’s Day present while he wasn’t looking and also bought a few tank tops for my trip to Hawaii.

When I got back last night, I discovered that my computer still wasn’t working — the last time I blogged, which was Thursday night, my computer started running reeeeaaaally slowly. And this annoying little window kept popping up that says “Disk Error. Please insert disk… blah, blah.” Grr! I don’t know why it does that — and then when I try to cancel it, it just keeps going and going and going… like the damn Energizer Bunny. Humph. So Rob is looking into the problem for me — and I’ll be taking his computer hostage so I can still blog, update and make wp. 🙂

episode II ROCKS

Grr — I hate my stupid old computer. I wrote this really really long blog entry and of course, just as I as about to post it, my computer freaks out and erases the entire thing. I hate this thing with a passion.

So I got to see Episode II (the midnight showing) and I thought it was great fun! It was much better than Episode I but I liked that one as well. 😛 I loved the lightsaber duel between Yoda/Dooku, Mace Windu’s dialogue (I don’t think so!), the R2D2/C3PO banter, and of course, all the Obi-Wan action — especially the one where he’s having a drink at the Coruscant bar and then — bam! He’s doing some major ass-kicking. Surprisingly, I wasn’t too taken with the Ani/Ami romance, although I thought I would be. I’m normally a total sucker when it comes to romances. I just didn’t get *why* she started to love him — I didn’t really see a development or natural progression to their story but that’s just me. Natalie and Hayden were great though and I did enjoy their picnic scenes.

Rob (my boyfriend) has developed a SW obsession — he bought the action figures for Mace Windu, Jango Fett, and Padme. AND he ordered Yoda, R2D2, Anakin with the duel lightsaber, and another Mace from Amazon. lol. He even bought me the Obi-Wan toy cause he knows how much I love him. ::giggly smile::

Gah. I have to be at work tomorrow at 5:30 am! AM! It’s terribly insane to be up that early on a Sunday morning, I know. I’m going to be working at this huge event in San Francisco called Bay to Breakers. It’s the world’s largest footrace (or so they say) and it starts at the edge of the San Francisco Bay, crosses the city and ends at the breakers of the Pacific Ocean. I think I’m going to be helping out with registration and check-in for the runners and participants. Should be lots of fun, but tiring as well.
